Would you rather have the M2 CS or an M2 Competition with some leftover change?
M2 CS
The CS for sure
M2 CS easy
M2 Comp and make it like Chris Harris'
M2C all day... the price gap between the two is just huge (especially lightly used). M2C can easily be tuned to CS standard and the weight savings are non-existent.
Hope you all enjoy this. Not that I have the funds, but this really is a car that I could imagine owning and keeping for a very long time. Particularly (as I mention at the end) if you had to pick just one car to do it all.
Awesome review as always sir.
It would be cool to see what cars you’d have in your collection. Also will we hear you on “Collecting cars podcast with Chris Harris”?
Great video Henry , I wish they gave you the 6MT !! This car is definetely a keeper, something like E30 Sport Evo, first gens cars , top versions. Glad to have the only one in my country !
@@andy00grant Thank you, Andrew.
@@lukethompson2589 Not had a phone call from him yet!
I work for BMW and im unbelievably proud of this car. It hurts me to say but its perhaps the last truly great BMW for the ages. Wonderful video.
This comment makes me happy and sad in the same time.
Why are BMW's so much less reliable than they used to be in the 90's?
@@juliennacer8871 🤡
Now that I’ve driven the new M3, I have to say that one is pretty amazing too.
I have and BMW m140i was my 5 th BMW in 11 years the engine b58 explode the cylinder 1 not warranty in my country Colombia south América, new engine 25.000 usd , i won't buy More BMW any more
Looking fresh Wolverine. Perfectly matched with CS.
The anorexic wolverine lol
Hahaha lol
@@mikea5205 y
Dammit Henry stop making me want one
If you can afford one I’d consider a 992 Carrera S manual 👍
@@mikea5205 it’s 20000 pounds more
Its v10 isn't sounding particularly healthy
Underrated comment 🤣
I'm pretty sure it's a heavily tuned flat 6
🧐😆
@@grantchallinor5263 Whoooooosh
@@grantchallinor5263 It's in relation to an advert BMW posted where a V10 was dubbed over footage of the M2.
The M2, any version, is the best car BMW make. I would'nt look at any other car in the range.
Agreed. BMW used to offer 4 platforms: 3, 5, 6, and 7-series. Including 3 and 5-series wagons, a total of six configurations. The were engine options and, of course, M-cars. Every combination was a great car for its mission.
Now they make, I don't even know how many models (40?), but only one of them seems worth having.
M5cs😍
The previous generation M4 convertible is the other one I quite like, albeit because I just prefer a folding metal roof and because I know the standard 4series convertible to be quite fantastic.
Perfect timing! I was literally thinking about this car and how it would look in Hockenheim Silver!
Even better in real life. Best color. I can highly recommend this car and combo. Got mine 2 weeks ago haha
Just really needs an exhaust, if only to get rid of the ugly box under the car.
Simply the best car journalist of all time.. henry makes you feel the car's soul unlike other pretenders who want to sell you the product.
agreed. creds to the videographer too. beautiful cinematography
I knew it was worth waiting for Carfection's take on the M2 CS. Answers all the questions I was asking with the detail I'm looking for. Stay great 👏
In my opinion, the M2 series are the best M cars. I love everything about them. Perfect.
Thanks Henry for amazing video. I had just picked up 2020 M2C with executive. Right before the CS came out. I am in the US. I have been adding BMW M parts to my M2C. The gold wheels with the M Performance suspension made big difference in the car’s handling also being lighter then the stock wheels and suspension. But it’s amazing car for what you get!!
How's the ride? I felt the M2 base was a bit harsh.
@@TucsonDude ride is very good with the M performance suspension a lot more compliant and you do feel the road a bit more but it’s a lot smoother over imperfections in the road
@@Schwabz33 Hmmm...I'll have to research that. Thanks!
Can always rely on your guys to provide some of the best motoring content on UA-cam 👏🏻
This was such a well filmed video god damn.
Great work from Henry an his team again, lovely review! Absolutely amazing motor, one I would love to own!
Henry's reviews are always spot on 👍
Hey BMW! It's exactly cars like this which truly ignite me 🔥 Manual gearbox & handbrake. Characterful chassis through a short wheelbase and wide track. A charismatic engine with grunt. No silly nonsense. Chapeau 👏🏻
And Carfection & Mr. Catchpole, excellent review of an amazing car 👍🏻👍🏻
Yet again perfect editing by Carfection.
Enjoyed watching this, thank you very much for putting it together and uploading it!!
Brilliant video as always
Brilliant review by Harry, as always. This is a great channel with top production standards.
his name is Henry
@@_rhapsodist Thank you. Not sure what I typed 'Harry'! Maybe I was thinking of Harry Metcalfe at the same time. :)
Another great review! I really enjoy your inputs on cars.
the M2 is a piece of art
The intro part was really awesome 🔥
Brilliant review of an amazing car - thanks for the daily inspiration! ;)
The review people have been waiting for!
Another awesome video and review! 🤌🏻
Well done guys. Nailed it again 👌
Another amazing video! Ty!
BMW need to make more cars like this
Market demands rule.
Fantastic video as always! If I was in the market for a new sports coupe, this is most likely where I’d put my money. It’s a tried and true combination of great size, 6 cylinder up front, RWD, and three pedals.
When I bought my new 325i Sport in 1986, it felt as nice as this car but of course on a very different level. This would be a good replacement for mine which sadly went to pastures new in 1989 and the new owner wrote it off within three months. Henry...it would be an interesting comparison and certainly would demonstrate just how far cars have come in those astonishing 34 years! Stay safe...keep testing! 😎😎😎😎😎Richard
At long last - great review! And please, BMW... don't ruin the next gen M2 with hideous grills found on the new M3/M4
Next gen M2 will have a normal grill dont worry
Only if it’s RWD
The new 2 series has already leaked and it doesn’t have the 3/4 grille.
They not it wouldn’t make sense to add the new grill
@@reggiecam8243 Anything is possible but hopefully BMW have taken note of the divided opinion created by the new M3/M4 grill
Just saw the coming soon at the end!!! Yes, yes, yes!!
Excellent video as always 👌
If I had the money it would be a manual Competition. That change would leave you with a lot of options in the 2-car-garage search... either a stripped out track/rally toy or a more sensible option to save the M2 from some of the boring miles 🤔
I just bought one, boy it was not cheap however i have a smile every time i get on the car.
Carfection is a different league in reviews, this and Harry’s Garage are great viewing. Performance Car and Evo background can’t be beaten.
Beautiful video, I love this channel! ^^
never had a bad watch from mr catchpole!
Such an awesome car! The proportions are similar to my old E30’s. Pleased with my M340 however. Excellent review!
oooooh I'm looking forward to that next video!
Amazing Video!! One of the best out there.
But when you will release the m2 ca vs Cayman gt4 video??
Waiting all the time for it:)
Those mirrors look wild!
Clever you juxtaposed the E30 M3 on it, I'd never have thought that, but they are more comparable sized than the current M3/4 would be.
This guy is awesome. A pleasure to watch. What the new Petrolicious is aspiring to be.
M2 Comp 6sp with a tune and suspension tweaks and keep my e46 6sp m3 and the 2 air cooled 911s-yes I'm very old
Underrated reviewer!
Manual Transmission and the standard front Kidney Grilles just lovely 🏎🏁🏆👦🏻👍🏻🛣🏔🛤 Great presentation of awesome performance car
It's an automatic lmao
@@andibrema
Prefer 6 Speed Manual Transmission and dread the day the break pedal or steering wheel disappears, the self drive Autonomous features. Already, sensors and the operating cameras in those get obscured by bug Splatter or bird Droppings. Tesla big rigs get bug Splatter after 10 to 30 minutes of washing the truck. Expect these to keep us safe.
I love watching your reviews in the M2 mostly because I have one 🤔🙂
Top video (as ever) ...on the best BMW you can buy.
Chris Harris, Henry Catchpole and jay from drift works would be my perfect trio for topgear
Totally agree with you Henry. The manual is the right gearbox for this car.
Had the OG M2 with the led steering wheel and the M performance exhaust back in 2016. It was awesome, great fun car and I hope whoever owns it now is enjoying it as much as I did. Swapped it for a 14 Vantage Roadster couldn’t keep both unfortunately but would have made a great two car garage. The M2 even the first OG one will keep with nearly everything on the road. The back end was a bit twitchy, hard to trust over the bumps. And the brakes were awful for long spirited drives or track. Glad to see they’ve sorted that on these later ones. Tried to get on the list for a CS after purchasing mine and the dealer was playing silly buggers hence looking for something else. I do think they should have gone full CSL and just offered the “light weighting” options to the competition. Make it really special but I get what you mean about the one car garage. It’s a lot of money though
Nice review. Nice car. Mr. C? I'm waiting for you guys to do the new Vette! Hurry up please! I want to know what you think?
An incredibly well put together video. Well done. The BMW looked pretty good too. Shame I can't afford one.
Ah yes. The 2020 Evo performance car of the year as voted by Henry. I seriously want one! 😄
Looking forward to that M2 CS vs GT4 video!
Yes sir !
Great video and I'm too lazy to read comments if someone else has said it, but of course the CSL has cloth/foam/plastic rear seats, just a bit lighter than stock. Except mine, which has a half cage instead. 🤪
Really nice review, but i cannot agree on the 6MT being the gearbox to have on this submodel. With all the carbon fiber and ceramic brakes, the CS is clearly MORE track-oriented than the Comp and if you are costantly doing power laps you need/want a DCT, so you can focus more on the track.
Brilliant video as always. As an ex-M3 owner. Next I think an M440i
This spec is perfect
The choice of the thumbnail alone makes this video worth a like
Henry Catchpole loves it, Chris Harris bought one for himself. Says everything about the CS.
Harris had a comp not a CS, sensible man.
I would buy the comp and with the leftover change get,Exhaust,18"wheels with chunky cup2,Ohlins,pads fluid and lines.Jobs a good one!!or and maybe a remap N55 flat 6 in there ha!perfect daily.
I hope manufacturers can find a way to make more stuff like this.
Definitely not with an internal combustion engine :(. Audi plans on cancelling the R8 (which will be superseded by the e-tron GT) and the TT. The RS3 8Y will also probably be their last car with a 5 cylinder engine. Mercedes is going to replace the V8 in their AMG models with 4 cylinder engines and I don‘t think we‘ll see much from M Sport too. The M5 CS feels like a grande finale for the 5 series M...
It hurts to see the this trend where carmakers replace their emotionally loaded cars with EVs and the 2025 EU regulations will more or less force carmakers to stop producing internal combustion engines because of their low emission goals. Let‘s just live in the moment and enjoy the last generation of cool and enthusiastic cars :)
Stunning review. Just wondering do these test roads have speed limits? Great place to test the car’s full potential
What a machine I love the CS variant very cool that bmw would even put this package together with all the EV push today and all the M marketing machines BMW releases it’s nice that they go back to the BMW Motorsport heritage once and awhile and put out a drivers car.
loved it
What a beauty!
I mulled over the question of "is it worth it" when deciding to order a C or CS. Personally, it was a "NO". While I feel that the M2C is the best enthusiast DD in its price range, CS money will just about put you in lightly used GT4 territory (so at that point I'd rather get the Porsche). In any case, ended up taking delivery of my '21 M2C 6-speed in November, and have driven it daily here in Germany since. Absolutely NO regrets.
Hey Carfection - show HC in the thumbnail and get more clicks - simple
The best M car on sale now.
The final swan-song for RWD ICE engine'd cars.
This would really suit me as I was oddly underwhelmed by the M2 Comp, still I’m surprised it took ECOTY.
I'm soo happy the manual isn't dead
Brilliant !!
What color grading filter do you guys use for your videos? The soft blue tinge is really nice!
Henry likes a small light powerful sportscar? Unexpected, not actually heard him mention that for a looong while.
Its actually quite heavy, even if it feels light. But so is just about every car these days, except a Miata or GT86.
My dream car 🤩
I honestly think this is one of the best cars for petrolheads in the last few years.
One of the last true BMW ever ?
Rwd / Manual / Analogue dials / 6 cylinder.
People keep revising the date of the last ‘true’ M car. First it was the E39, then the E46, then the E92 and so on. In a few years they’ll be saying it was the F80.
BMW will keep making "true" cars, why do people keep thinking that they'll just give up lol?
@@aftermathmathematic4175 Electric :-(
@@wasdwasdwwasd You might be correct, let´s hope so.
But the Rwd 2 series, with a 6 cylinder engine are soon to be phased out.
I think you'll find there will be a new RWD 2 series coupe with an M version come later this decade.
For me this is the perfect car. I wish I could have this car as my daily 😍💯
Lovely car
Yes man
Dream car in manual, black with gold alloys.
Very unique sounding V10 I must say 🧐
The M2 Competition is a hoot to drive!
Nice, stable photography, what happened the sound?
Great review as always Henry.
But would you have the CS over a 718 GT4 for similar(ish) money? The BMW looks great and sounds great but against a GT model Porsche... it’s a trumped up little BMW isn’t it?
Revisiting these videos, and that's a question I'm musing.
What happened to the M2 CS / GT4 video? Have I missed it somewhere… thanks
Thanks wsb now I can get this car 😙
"Is it worth it" all depends on depreciation. If the CS holds it's value, but the Competition prices fall off a cliff, they yes the CS is worth the extra £££
Big "IF". The M3/M4 CS was a flop. The M5 CS is how you do a proper CS.
@@nessuno5403 That whole generation of M3/M4 was never spectacular at any point. The M5, on the other hand, has been stellar from the start.
@@vomErsten what are you talking about? My F80's were the best car's I ever owned. Great feeling and power output and, with the M or even the comp exhaust, also a great sound. In terms of driving and also quality, they were the best M cars ever done. Now I realize that other M cars were better in other aspects, don't get me wrong. Hell, I am daydreaming about my E92 exhaust sound sometimes. However, all in all, the F80's are the most complete package IMO
The M5 is great but it's a whole different beast and for a whole other driving situation. I don't even know why it gets mentioned here.
Carbonfibre trim is the new snake oil.
True, it will cost the manufacture 2k max to make the carbon parts and they sell them for tens the price . As he said with very little benefit at all.
People like the looks. Thats it.
Thats crazy iam buying this car at friday
Would like to see a review of this Vs Chris Harris' M2..
Dream Car ❤️
I'm really wondering if I should get rid of my mint E92 M3 which is sadly DTC and get a manual of this. Hmm.
Dream car😍
This or a modified M2c with better dampers and a mild tune and exhaust?
So it's all real sounds or some sounds from the speakers ?
