Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold.

It's hard to get out of when you have nothing. We've been together 25 years and now own our own house and have car. I am forever grateful for her and love her dearly. Thank you babe love ya.👍👍👍👍🤟
Such a beautiful and powerful song with a great message! Gets me emotional every time. And then of course there's David's immaculate guitar playing. I don't think anyone can make it sing like he does.
Nice, a great tune from the post Roger Waters era and the sentiment in this song is timeless. For more Floyd awesomeness, time you guys did Echoes, both the original studio and the unique Live at Pompeii version. Lex will freak out! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎹🎶
I've always enjoyed the David Gilmour songs much more than the Roger Water's songs....less quirky, more heart felt. Ima proud to have watched you two become pretty groovy the last few months / thanks guys / now that you have it /keep it going forward / or its lost (analog auditory art./ rock era)
I had this album when it was first released ( I had all Pink Floyd). Back then I could see exactly what was happening...see the words of this song. I am 67 now, and this song just makes me weep for my grandkids, and our planet.
This song so resonates with the way our world is today as much as it did when this song came out!!! Pink Floyd was definitely ahead of their time and that's why they are an amazing iconic band.
Now you should try the live version from 'Delicate Sound of Thunder' concert. Dave Gilmour (Guitar God) will blow your head off with the extended guitar solos!
I love Pink Floyd. Always had. Live....this was the most powerful song they ever did. All songs built to this. It left you drained. Knowing that you just were a part of something way bigger
The Pulse concert, best performance and show, just amazing, one of the greatest concerts epic, Sorrow, comfortably numb even though you've done it, you really have to see it 😀
One of the most emotional songs that tells of such a sad story of being left behind. Sad too ignore your brothers and sisters who have been forgotten and left forgotten.
Lex got meaning of this song to me when she said it got us talking about the issue. By discussing the problems you guys aren’t turning away from it. So now it’s what you guys take away from your conversation and will you do something to help. It can be as simple as talking to someone that is down and out. Who knows? You may have the ability to help someone. It can be as simple as making a phone call for this person? You will never know unless you ask. So don’t turn away from these issues. ✌🏻
Great point, Brad. There are some things that we, as individuals, can help deal with. A neighbour that needs help with food to get by until payday is an excellent example. Solving the problem of "food deserts" and overall hunger in America? That's going to take a lot more money, and a lot more resources than individuals could reasonably provide.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. You should also watch the live 2019 remastered performance which has a much longer guitar solo at the end. Pink Floyd has the best live performances of almost any band you can find.
Pink Floyd is amazing. I saw them on this tour in Austin. The best concert I have ever been to. David Gilmour is the best guitarist. His solos are awesome!
David can relate to the weak and the weary because he once was one. I recall reading once that when he was young he was a street musician in Paris who was not doing well physically and was diagnosed as suffering from malnutrition.
Brad is ex- military, Army guy I'm thinking. Lol. Lex is a free minded and free spirit person, sorta rolls with the flow. Brad, you are ridged, tempered, smart and a deep thinker. Great couple! Check out GWAR and Uriah Heep for fun
If emotions have a sound they sound like Dave Gilmour's guitar. So eloquent without words. edit: It IS government's responsibility to PREVENT mental illness and try to repair the damage THEIR rules/regime/policies/wars/society has created! Government of the people, FOR the people BY the people!
This album 'Momentary lapse of reason' in 1987 was a big comeback for Pink Floyd without founding bassist/ vocalist Roger Waters... David Gilmour, Richard Wright & Nick Mason put a new record together w/ session musicians & producers, and it turned out to be a bigger success than anything Roger Waters had put out (the album has sold over 4 million copies in the US)... Floyd had not toured since 1980 (?) and they were welcomed back by their legions of fans w/ massive shows... a double live album "Delicate sound of thunder' was released and is one of the greatest live records in music history 🔥🔥🎸🎸
And Waters was predictably bitchy about it. He is a genius, but kinda insufferable with it. Did he ever recognise that Pink Floyd was more than the sum of its parts?
When I was there, during this song because it was a venue with an open roof...they shown the laser lights into the clouds and lit them up purple. It was really cool!
Ooh, nice to see you delving a little deeper into Floyd's later stuff. I'd also recommend any track from the Division Bell album - particularly Poles Apart, A Great Day for Freedom & High Hopes
agreed !! last concert I was able to attend in the Kingdome at that time and it was agggghhhhhhhmazing !!!! Terminal Frost is my favorite off this album but the entire album is incredible !!
I think you were right, 1988. That was the one and only time seeing them live. Such a shame. I've seen Roger Waters a handful of times on his own. Enjoyed those shows immensely as well. If I was even 10 years older I may have been able to see Pink Floyd in all their glory.
I saw the 94 Pulse show at Syracuse Carrier Dome....AWESOME. Next day news paper headline ....... "PINK FLOYD, Still Number One In Space. after taking the audience on a Magic Carpet Ride through outer space where no man has ever traveled before."
Fan videos can glue eyes to a screen more than ears to a sound. And a mind to what is seen. That last guitar solo was lost here to the fan video. Just my silly two cents worth. Much love to y'all.
I was listening to this on my way to work yesterday & thought "damn. I think Brad & Lex would really love this. They should do a reaction." & then pulled up ur channel today & saw this :)
All I can say very relevant thru all walks of life past, present and future!! I hope one day to witness us all coming together and quit turning away from reality and embrace and HELP each other. Video crimes instead of helping.. like put the phones down and just be a GOOD human
Thank you. Loved your response especially Lex feeling David's guitar!! Such a great song. You would love the version of this in claymation. This guy animated some of the local homeless people and put it to this song. It is so well done. Visually stunning and perfect for this song. love n peace
My favourite post-Waters Pink Floyd track. The song's use of a pentatonic scale (a specific group of five notes in the octave) gives it the feel of a Scottish folk song (some parts are similar to the traditional song "Wild Mountain Thyme"). The lyrics hit the spot well, too, with an important message, and the uplifting feel urges you to feel and think about the lyrics. Another good late-period Pink Floyd song is "Learning to Fly".
My great uncle Buford Jones worked on this album. As well as the live album they recorded after this album called delicate sound of thunder. He's a world famous sound engineer he's considered a legend in the music industry. I asked him a few years ago who he was with May of 86 when I was born. He had to think about it he told me he started working with Pink Floyd March of 86.....I was like that's badass!!

No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share

Is it only a dream that there'll be
No more turning away?

Thank You for giving Pink Floyd a listen. Awesome Band & Musicians!
Great conversation you two, we need to help when and where we can.
I love this song - great reaction!
This song so resonates with the way our world is today as much as it did when this song came out!!! Pink Floyd was definitely ahead of their time and that's why they are an amazing iconic band.
THANK YOU 🙏🏼 ❣️
Listener/Subscriber….
I’ve thrown it out in comments several times,
And have been waiting for this!!!
The 2019 Remix of this album "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason" sounds amazing. Great song!!
The Pulse concert, best performance and show, just amazing, one of the greatest concerts epic, Sorrow, comfortably numb even though you've done it, you really have to see it 😀
A deep song. Very DEEP ! AND IT'S REALITY.. THIS SONG IS RELATIVE EVEN TODAY ! A TIMELESS CLASSIC !
need to see the live version of the turning away it will blow your mind
One of the best songs ever made
One of the most emotional songs that tells of such a sad story of being left behind. Sad too ignore your brothers and sisters who have been forgotten and left forgotten.
Delicate Sound of Thunder version Live is the place to be
Lex got meaning of this song to me when she said it got us talking about the issue. ✌🏻
“Money, it’s a hit, don’t give me that do goody-good bullshit” - also Pink Floyd 😘
Inspiring and deeply meaningful lyrics. Gives me hope for humanity.
'open the conversation' YES! The answers are not always apparent, but it is possible we can find the way if we try. If we don't try, there is no way.
I love your reaction Pink Floyd runs in my veins l adore David Gilmore hands down the very best guitarists ever
From the most emotionally powerful guitar and voice to ever walk a stage.
You can see the moment when the music hits the poetry, and Lexi starts swaying. Great reaction, and perspectives on the song and music.
This is one of the best songs ever written, period.
This song is so much more relevant today than it was when it was released because times are so much darker now on so many levels.
First time I heard this 87 it touched my soul. It still does today.
I like how you two compliment each other with your opinions...it makes for an outstanding review!
There is organ, synth, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and that cool bass guitar dip at the end of the first solo
Pink Floyd is amazing. I saw them on this tour in Austin. The best concert I have ever been to. David Gilmour is the best guitarist. His solos are awesome!
You must react to the live version is so much better 👍🏽
Beautiful people you are.
I know others probably mentioned already but you need to watch the live version. The solo at the end is 😳
This album 'Momentary lapse of reason' in 1987 was a big comeback for Pink Floyd without founding bassist/ vocalist Roger Waters...
I LOVED that album. Probably my favorite after Animals.
When I was there, during this song because it was a venue with an open roof...they shown the laser lights into the clouds and lit them up purple. It was really cool!
Pink Floyd was David Gilmore.
@@jeremyjames1659 Pink Floyd was bigger than any 1 member... none of them had a solo record as big as a Floyd album.
If you guys haven't already done Pink Floyd Shine on you crazy diamond you should do that song next. Pink Floyd is the best band ever.
Ooh, nice to see you delving a little deeper into Floyd's later stuff. I'd also recommend any track from the Division Bell album - particularly Poles Apart, A Great Day for Freedom & High Hopes
Saw them live on this tour in '88, I think. No Roger Waters, but this album was fantastic as was the show.
agreed !! last concert I was able to attend in the Kingdome at that time and it was agggghhhhhhhmazing !!!! Terminal Frost is my favorite off this album but the entire album is incredible !!
Seen them in 78 Animals tour then again in 89 l think. Both shows was unbelievable.
Brilliant PF composition, so typical of their orchestral familiarity, yet keeping an Irish ballad undertone. They were so good.
Lmao
That's a tear jerker
Fan videos can glue eyes to a screen more than ears to a sound. And a mind to what is seen. That last guitar solo was lost here to the fan video. Just my silly two cents worth. Much love to y'all.
Well said. I feel the same way about that video for Black Sabbath's War Pigs.
Yes✌ One of my Favs by PF😎 Always so Deep.....
This is fitting for you guys. Turning Away is what you guys are best at.
I was listening to this on my way to work yesterday & thought "damn. I think Brad & Lex would really love this. They should do a reaction." & then pulled up ur channel today & saw this :)
I knew the way Brad likes to read the lyrics that this one would affect him. Great choice of a great song by a great band.
I like LEARNING TO FLY !...as far as newer floyd but i love allll the older pink floyd.....the wall... Darkside of the moon....
All I can say very relevant thru all walks of life past, present and future!! I hope one day to witness us all coming together and quit turning away from reality and embrace and HELP each other. Video crimes instead of helping.. like put the phones down and just be a GOOD human
Simply beautiful from a band so inspiring 💖
Thank you Brad.... Folk gotta learn how to help themselves more...
