This is how this album, "Dark Side of the Moon", ends. The heartbeat you hear during the fade-out is also how the album begins. Thus, demonstrating an endless cycle; the human condition replayed in every generation. This album is brilliantly profound.

Thats an interesting thing about the wall too, Im not sure about the tune playing throughout the entirety of the album, but the tune that plays at the start of "In the flesh?" also plays at the end of "Outside the wall"
I wrote a speech on Dark Side, in college speech class, and I got like a C or a D bc the teacher said I should have written about “The Wall”, bc it’s theatrics made it a more notable album to him. I was like, “ok, but there were no rules about speech content, so why am I getting a bad grade?” He didn’t have an answer, besides “the walls” better. Fucking asshole. I hated him. So did everyone else in the class.
Pink Floyd's use of the term "dark side of the moon" is very simply meant to be a metaphor for insanity. They were very deeply affected by the (at times) profound mental illness on their bandmate (Syd Barrett) and wrote/dedicated much of their most heralded material to him. Most of this album and Wish You Were Here were a tribute to him and reflected their sense of loss of him not being there with them. The song Shine On You Crazy Diamond is, IMO, their best track and is an example of their love for their missing brother.
I agree with you and made a similar post not long ago and got into a 3 day argument with some fact checking troll. It’s sad people can’t let things be.
I disagree. It's certainly half the story, but if you're citing sanity as any demonstration that there is a loss of it, then the closing line needs to be heeded. "There is no dark side of the moon really... As a matter of fact it's all dark!"
You REALLY need to listen to the whole album. For me it's like someone is looking from the normal side (lit side of the moon) at another person who lost himself mentally (the dark side of the moon) but in the end we're all on the dark side sometimes in our life.
Astronomically speaking, the Moon is tidally locked to the Earth meaning one face is always towards Earth, we never see the back side of the Moon from Earth, and this is really what the "Dark side of the Moon" is referring to when said where "Dark" refers to the unknown (think of old references to "Darkest Africa" which basically meant it was unexplored). We did not know the nature of the back side of the Moon until it was orbited by Satellites in the 1960s. The Lunar cycle is about 30 Earth Days long (this is 1 Lunar day) and any point of the Moon will have a sunrise and sunset in a Lunar cycle (except perhaps at extreme poles seasonally just like here on Earth) so there is no "Dark" side. Metaphorically I think the narrator is telling us we are all a little crazy and all a little sane.
@@willblood7082 this is exactly how my Dad advised me to experience it when I was just outta high school in the 80s. The last line was provided by Gerry O'Driscoll, a doorman at Abbey Road studios where the album was recorded. He said it in response to the question “What is the ‘dark side of the moon’?” His full answer was “There is no dark side of the moon really, matter of fact it’s all dark. Well, the man keeps saying it himself in almost every reaction, " I don't know!", "I have no clue!", "I have nothing!" Real sorry, but thank heavens Lex has enough fun, intelligence, soul and spirit for both of them.
The whole album is about one of the band members, Syd Barrett, descending into insanity from schizophrenia. The line from Brain Damage "and when the band You're in starts playing different tunes" actually happened on stage, as Syd was hearing different songs in his head than what the band was performing. Pink Floyd had two albums that were specifically about Syd's descent into madness, Dark Side of the Moon, about the vagaries of life leading to madness, and Wish You Were Here, a lament for the lost band member, which accuses the music industry of driving them all to madness.
So true. Been a Floydian since the very early 70's. I find it amazing how so many people will say they love Pink Floyd but have no idea what the music is about. It's so much more than the music. Listen and learn. No band can compare to Pink Floyd.
I was 10 in 1975 and that is the year this came out ..I am pretty sure... but it was so great then and if possible it is even more poignant today great album Pink Floyd sold over 250 million albums not sure if any other band can beat that
The album is an endless loop. The heartbeat at the end of this song (the last track on the album) ties into the heartbeat at the beginning of the first song on the album. Listening to the entire album in order is like turning pages in a book.
I would compare it to a Moebius strip... A book had a beginning, middle and end... it progresses to a conclusion, and even if there are sequels or more chapters added later, it is still a linear progression... this album is more like a Moebius strip in that you listen to it as one continuous movement that flops back and forth between the inside and the outside, meanwhile your own perspective stays the same... you are travelling a straight and continuous path while the world flips back and forth around you... the choice is in whether you recognize those changes or not. We are traveling through the "Dark Side" right now... the unrest and craziness follows a cyclic nature of about forty years or so, roughly the same as the generational translation...

The dark side of the moon is the side we don't see. The moon doesn't revolve like the earth and other planets do. It's a metaphor. This song is about Sid Barrett their original leader and lead guitarist. He dropped too much acid and got lost in his head. Ended up in a mental institution for a while. The line "and if the band you're in starts playing different tunes..." is reference to an incident where Sid was trying to teach them a song he was working on and they would join in and he'd say no that isn't it and then start playing something else... the band wasn't messing up HE was... This song, and Shine on you Crazy Diamond are both in reference to Sid Barrett.
the moon revolves around the earth, which in turn revolves around the sun. the earth rotates once per day. the moon also rotates, tho much slower, but in such a way that we can see only one side. I think 28 days is the rotation period.
Strictly the dark side is just the side opposite the sun, it's why we see the moon in phases. But it shines by reflection, it doesn't give off its own light, hence the line in the fade out "there is no dark side of the moon really, as a matter of fact it's all dark."
@@jimcarlson6157 Yes the moon revolves around the earth but the face of the moon faces the earth so the back side is referred to as the "dark side". Sorry if I wasn't clearer. Our moon is unique in our solar system. :)
@@jimcarlson6157 the moon revolves around the earth in around 28 of our days. However it is tidally locked to Earth, which means that the length of a full rotation of the Moon on its own axis causes its same side (the near side) to always face Earth, and the somewhat longer lunar day is the same as the synodic period. That said, 59% of the total lunar surface can be seen from Earth through shifts in perspective due to libration. Simply put, yes the moon rotates on its axis. But moon's rate of rotation nearly matches its orbital period, which keep the same side facing Earth. Hence we are always looking at the same side.
Just to add to this, where Shine On You Crazy Diamond and the line in this song: 'when the band you're in starts playing different tunes' is specifically about Syd; the rest of this song also references a multitude of lunatics, including politicians who's photographs would appear folded on the front pages newspapers being delivered and the more general loonies in mental decline. where there is even a reference to frontal lobotomies which was a common practice during the mid 20th century for severe mental illness cases (see One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest).
To get the full effect of what this song and album really mean, try the entire Dark Side of the Moon album sometime, it will make more sense and you get the flow that way. For a stand alone Floyd song, try Echoes, both the original studio and the 2 part videos Live in the ruins of Pompeii, it was 2 parts because it opened and closed the film about that event. Floyd is a long journey to be savored every step of the way, just relax, vibe and go with the flow and they will take you to places you did not know existed! Enjoy. 🎵
In fact, as you may know, that line described exactly the moments when Syd started to losing it on stage, he would stop playing guitar and stand staring at the audience doing nothing... poor Syd, a lost soul always remembered dearly. For me his story is very touching, one of my friends had a psychotic breakdown years ago and I thought I'd lost him. It was scary and moving being with him, nullified as a person by pills and all that stuff. Fortunately he recovered. Mental illness is terrible
This came out a half a century ago. And it's still so relevant. This is Roger Waters' masterpiece. This album is one of the best selling LP's of all time selling over 50 MILLION copies. The album itself STILL goes platinum every year as new fans find it and old fans replace old records and CD's. Meant, by Waters, to be a one long 42 minute suite, it had to be broken up into songs so the band could be paid for an "album" & not a single. This album was on the Billboard Hot 100 for 987 weeks (That's 19 YEARS on the charts, JUST INSANE). It was selected for preservation in the United States National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". It literally is a PERFECT album. #1 of all time in my opinion. The lengths they went to, to pull this off in 1973, with no computers and just analog tape, is just astounding!!
Another good choice, as I am a lifelong Pink Floyd fan. And in fact, I was born the year this album came out. Also, it is the sixth best selling album of all time!
Arguably the greatest album ever. It has spent more weeks in Billboards top 200 than any other album in history, by a wide margin. You really should listen to all of PF "middle era" albums in their entirety to appreciate the meaning and the music.
This is the last song of the best concept album of all time. It's a culmination of the whole album and doesn't work as well as stand alone songs. Try the whole album and see if you like it better in context. Thanks for the great comments as always.
A good clue to help understand this album is that it's main theme revolves around: “WHAT DRIVES PEOPLE CRAZY”. (BREATHE); If the performance required in life can drive people crazy. (ON THE RUN); If the frantic rush of life can drive people crazy. (TIME); If the fleeting aspect of passing time can drive people crazy. (THE GREAT GIG IN THE SKY); If the thought of the inevitable end (death), can drive people crazy. (MONEY); If love, or lack of money can drive people crazy. (US AND THEM); If the differences in class of people or the power grant to them can drive people crazy. (ANY COLOR YOU LIKE); If the illusion of being able to choose can drive people crazy. (BRAIN DAMAGE); If the many rules of life (keep off the grass) and all the previous points can drive people crazy. (ECLIPSE); Since our influence in this world comes down to what is within our reach, then even though the brightness of the sun may be eclipsed by the darkness of the moon. But anyway, (I'll see you on the dark side of the moon).
Hi B&L Another great choice, To think they wrote such profound lyrics about Universal themes & the human condition Dave Gilmour was 27, Roger, Nick & Richard 29/30 Mindblowing in itself Pink Floyd & The Beatles music & influence will last forever in my humble opinion, All the best Jim, Surrey, England X
Hey Guys, An enduring myth about the Moon is that it doesn't rotate. While it's true that the Moon keeps the same face to us, this only happens because the Moon rotates at the same rate as its orbital motion, a special case of tidal locking called synchronous rotation.
Brad, Brad, Brad...the moon is basically just a GIGANTIC rock kin outer space, it is big enough to catch the suns light and reflect it back in the nighttime sky...and eclipses are not a daily thing.....Lex, once more reels him back to earth...God dam I love this channel :)
Great reaction! This album-like most of their albums-are concept albums, meaning each song blends into the next to tell a larger story. This album is widely considered to be the best ever recorded. To understand the full meaning and experience, you have to listen to it, beginning to end, in one sitting. It is truly an amazing experience. Great reactions!!
The doorman of Abbey Road Studios, Gerry O'Driscoll, is heard speaking, answering the question: "What is 'the dark side of the moon?" with: "There is no dark side in the moon, really. Matter of fact, it's all dark. The only thing that makes it look light is the sun".
This is the last song on the album. It ends with the heart beat. If you listen to the entire album, it starts out with a heart beat as well. Birth to death... Best album ever!
In this episode of Brad & Lex, Brad eases into his "signature side to side sway" after Lex catches him off guard with her "pizza earth" comment. The tune continues as they share a smirk in unison further allowing the mood of the masterpiece to manipulate their minds. Brad never loses energy with his "side to side sway" while Lex produces a "snake sway bop" before an intense discussion on astronomy.
In college, when this first came out, I recall sitting, with around 6 or so friends in someone’s darkened room, candles lit, more stoned than ever before, being quite unnerved, yet so in awe of this track.
I came of age in the mid 70s. It was a great time listening to artists play their art. Acid was a beautiful addition. My buddy danced to Zappa. Zappa is not dance music. Acid made it dance music for Cisco.
Im honestly surprised you guys didn't hear this one sooner regardless you're genuine with your reactions. Lex feels the music while Brad analyses the lyrics good combination.
If you lived in the suburbs north of Chicago you realized that the best way to listen to this album was stoned, laying on the floor in the dark, wearing headphones,
Love how you dove so deep into the meaning g: Astronomy with Brad and Lex! This always had me thinking that life is fleeting and all you do, say, eat , fight, etc…means nothing in the end. Life goes on without you.
The song is about mental illness. ("Every day the paper boy brings more" refers to photos of politicians in the newspapers). The subsequent album "Wish You Were Here" is about band co-founder Syd Barrett leaving the band due his descent into madness.
Short story. When I first heard Dark side of the moon I thought its OK, then I played it 2-3-4-5 time and then I didnt stop for moths, then I heard Wish you were here I thought its OK, then I played it 2-3-4-5 time and then I didnt stop for moths, and that goes for every Pink Floyd album so I got some 5 years of best music experience of my life. I know every song, every note of every song and it was worth it. They are gonna be learned in music schools
there's an entire thought process behind this whole album, u need to hear the entire album in one go, its a lyrical, musical and ofcourse a cinematic masterpiece
In fact, the laugh you hear in this song is made by Pete Watts, one of the Sound Engineers for Pink Floyd. But did you know Pete Watts has a very famous daughter? The blonde actress in The Ring (2002) and The Ring Two (2005), Naomi Watts.
The Moon is gravitationally locked and revolves on its axis in exactly the same amount of time (a lunar day) that it takes to complete one orbit of the Earth (a lunar month, about 29.5 Earth days). The upshot of this is that the same surface of the moon is always pointed toward the Earth. What we call the dark side is the other side that cannot be seen from the Earth and that is always pointed away from us. However, the Moon, in and of itself, does not produce any light, it merely reflects the light of the Sun. Therefore, if you could remove the Sun from the equation, the whole of the Moon would be dark. Hence the final statement on the album.
The greatest Rock album of all time, it was in Billboards Top selling albums list for an unprecedented 958 weeks, and over 50 million, (and counting), albums sold! You guys are discussing the meaning of this song in the wrong context, the whole album is the story, not one song. Virtually all Pink Floyd albums are concept albums telling a story, the "Dark Side Of The Moon" album is about life and death, with a side nod to Syd Barrett in "Brain Damage" The very beginning of the album, and the very end, showcase a slowed down heartbeat. You guys have done other "Dark Side Of The Moon" album songs, likw "Us And Them" which is about war, and "Time", which is about how time flies by in our lives. Also "Great Gig In The Sky" which is about "death" and "horror". I put quotation marks with death and horror because those are the exact words PF told Clair Torry to think about, for a while, before she did the wordless vocals she sings and screams in Great Gig. The song "Brain Damage" is the Syd Barrett reference, if you know Barretts story it is clear. Syd Barrett was one of the founding members of PF in 1964, but he was forced to leave the band by 1967 because of massive LSD use and mental health issues. His good friend David Gilmour took over as lead singer and guitarist of PF. There's a direct reference to Barrett in one of the lyrics in Brain Damage, the verse goes,.. ......."And If The Band You're In Starts Playing Different Tunes" Syd Barrett, near the end, was so out of it, so unhinged from reality,... that when the band would be rehearsing, and even at a show or two, Syd would go off and begin to play a different song than the song the other three band members were playing!!
Pink Floyd is definitely a vibe. It certainly helps to be under the influence. Not advocating it, but when I was high AF, putting on a Floyd Album was literally a spiritual experience back in the day. One of the most creative, amazing bands in history, no doubt. Sober now, and would still stand by that.
Dark Side of the Moon hit the Billboard Top 200 Album charts at #95 in March of 1973. It only hit #1 for a week, but remained in the top 200 for 736 consecutive weeks, until July of 1988. It has been back, and holds both the consecutive week record, and the overall record at well over 900. I agree about listening to the whole album start to finish. Many of the songs blend into the next. And then there's the Wizard of Oz connection...
As others have said, Dark Side of The Moon is a concept album where one song blends into the next with interconnecting themes - best listened to from beginning to end (without interruption).
I think you are right with one minor exception. One of the aspects I really miss in music today is the concept of a side of a album. Sitting there, listening from the opening heartbeat to that final wavering piano chord in Great Gig. Then getting up, taking a moment to reflect on what you had just listened to and going over to the turntable. Carefully flipping the LP over between your two index fingers, placing it back on the table and starting another adventure.
@@shuntguy Absolutely, best experienced on an early pressing or MoFi LP (although the 2016 remaster sounds fantastic too). Besides, vinyl sounds better!!!
There is a heartbeat that runs through the entire album. Discovered that as a teenager because by turntable vibrated to the heartbeat and you could actually see it.
It would be interesting if you two would do a straight listen through the whole album, uninterrupted on your down time. And then do a stand alone video sharing your thoughts on it…. I bet your perspectives would be radically different and interesting to hear.
The moon is tidally locked to the Earth, one side always faces us, the other faces away, into space. We refer to the far side as the " dark side" even though it gets sunlight. During a new moon, when the side facing the Earth is dark, you can still see it faintly lit. That is light from the sun, reflecting off the Earth, hitting the moon and reflecting back to Earth. It's called Earthshine. Pink Floyd gets me thinking about such things.
"What's the dark side of the moon?" There is an intended interpretation, but, as with all art, appreciation is on the client side and not the server. Whatever meaning you got from this is correct. It is correct because your interpretation is a reflection of you. Your experiences. Your demons. Your triumphs. Your values. This is the purpose of art.
Roger Waters walked around with a tape recorder, and asked the studio employees things like. What did you do at night, you saw the game, "random things" and the doorman asked what the name of the Disco would be, and Roger replied The Dark Side of the Moon, so the doorman quickly replied... There is no dark side of the moon , it's all dark, and Roger liked the response and put it at the end of the album.
Pls react to shine on you crazy Diamond next, it’s Pink Floyd’s best song. Has some of Gilmours best guitar and has some of the best instrumental I ever heard. It’s also the song that got me to love Pink Floyd
One of my favorite rock songs ever! The whole album is phenomenal, considered to be the first "concept album" in Rock and Roll. The whole album is about a guy going crazy and it all culminates at the end with "Brain Damage/Eclipse". So in the first half of the song when he's singing about the lunatics getting closer and closer until they're in his head, it's as basic as that. It's about a dude going crazy. Of course there's a more complicated background story.
Woah, I had looked into this also thinking about some Beatles albums, and somehow got it wrong. I read somewhere that Dark Side came out earlier. Oh well, I stand corrected. 🤷♀️
Roger Waters has stated that the insanity-themed lyrics are based on former Floyd frontman Syd Barrett's mental instability, with the line "I'll see you on the dark side of the moon" indicating that he felt related to him in terms of mental idiosyncrasies. The line "And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes..." references Barrett's behaviour near the end of his tenure with the band; because of his mental problems, there were more than a few occasions where Barrett would play a different song than the rest of the band in the middle of a concert.
Lex is a music genius. Her insight on songs like this with little to no context is amazing. Without the light, either from a source like the sun or the stars, or the inner light of creativity, the moon, and the world around us would be dark. The moon is all dark because it doesn't generate its own light. So even the lit side is in essence still dark. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, in the end all things end the same, as cosmic debris.
I've experienced a lot, a lot!! Of great music and phenomenal bands in my 57 years of life and feel blessed to have done so. Pink Floyds dark side of the moon is in my opinion the best music ever written. Just one music lovers opinion.
I had a whole relationship with "Brain Damage" one night early in my pot-smoking life, and "Eclipse" continues to be one of my favourite songs/pieces of music of all-time. Such Truth! 👍
Lex, you never cease at amazing me!! The thoughts that flow from your lips, and your mind in its entirety, are just as Beautiful as the rest of you! Thank you for sharing you with the rest of us.
The whole of the album covers birth, death, life, war, money, power, greed and mental illness. It's always best appreciated listening to from beginning to end to fully understand the whole concept of it. The heartbeat is a constant theme throughout, though more prominent mostly at the beginning and end which has a symbolism of where we start it then begins again, a life cycle. A theme which is revisited at the start and end of "The Wall" album too. It's a deep and powerful album is "Dark Side". It begins to resonate with you more and more the older you get as you realise all of things they are talking about are becoming more and more relevant to you as you get older.
I would play this song when things went all wrong in my life, or after a break up or other stuff that happened. It just, for me diminished the impact of the event and allowed me to move on in life. Pink Floyd, just got back together to do a song in support of Ukraine 🇺🇦. I hope you can make a video reacting to it. All proceeds go to help Ukraine in their time of trouble! Stay safe, stay sane,Stay Strong Ukraine 🇺🇦
Here’s the real meaning of the song; Brain damage constantly talks about the insane and how they are outcasted from society. “The dark side of the moon” serves as a metaphor for the mental state of the insane. An eclipse is when the sun is directly behind the moon. This means that the dark side of the moon is now swapped and is now in the front (closer to earth). This shows how in the song everything we know is eclipsed by illness in a lunatics mind. The word lunatic also comes from the word lunar, which means moon.
I love your Pink Floyd reactions! They have a large library to pick from. I would like to recommend a few if I may. And these encompass all eras of Floyd. Astronomy Domine, Let There Be More Light, If, Echoes, Pigs (Three Different Ones), Dogs, Have A Cigar, The Post War Dream, On The Turning Away, Sorrow, Wearing The Inside Out, Coming Back To Life.
This is how this album, "Dark Side of the Moon", ends. The heartbeat you hear during the fade-out is also how the album begins. Thus, demonstrating an endless cycle; the human condition replayed in every generation. This album is brilliantly profound.

Well said. I am steeling this and using this from now on when talking to people about listening to Pink Floyd. Thank you.
Best comment I've read for years, I'm stealing it too.
Oh dear, Brad ! Such a literalist ! Is there no poetry in your soul ?

My favorite song by Pink Floyd. Always gives me chills.
I was 12yrs old when this album came out and grabbed me; Pink Floyd has taken me on many a wondrous journey since. Incredible band that is unmatched.
I was 13. We have been fortunate I think ✨
I had it on 8-track lol.
I was 10 in 1975 and that is the year this came out ..I am pretty sure... but it was so great then and if possible it is even more poignant today great album Pink Floyd sold over 250 million albums not sure if any other band can beat that

This album made a huge impression on millions and millions of young people during the decade of the 70s.
And beyond
It shaped my life. "You missed the starting gun" resonated with me and when my gun went off I started life. It was at age 19.

This is an album that you have to hear from start to finish in one sitting.
This isn't music, it's art.

The album is an endless loop. The heartbeat at the end of this song (the last track on the album) ties into the heartbeat at the beginning of the first song on the album. Listening to the entire album in order is like turning pages in a book.
Yeah, but we still had to flip the LP halfway. It's like a two-movement symphony.
@@floorticket - The times I let side one play again because I was too 'chilled' to sit up, flip the record and re-position the speakers next to my head... I bought my first CD player (and my first headphones) especially for DSOTM.

Enjoy. 🎵
I saw that at a local drive in bitd. It was the 2nd warmup for a feature I forget.

"And if the band you're in stars playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon." An ode to friend and ex-bandmate Syd Barrett.

Pink Floyd is master piece of reflection and pure vibes
The greatest album ever recorded. On the album charts for 958 weeks. That’s over 18 years!
(ECLIPSE); Since our influence in this world comes down to what is within our reach,
then even though the brightness of the sun may be eclipsed by the darkness of the moon.
But anyway, (I'll see you on the dark side of the moon).
Very well said.

That album is just incredible. Life lessons, the search for the meaning, human sentiments, it has everything.
Pink Floyd music is so chill. It's so easy to relax listening to them.
Brad is descended from Hymie the robot from 1960’s GET SMART.
One of the greatest albums ever! Proof of that is, the album stayed on the charts for FOURTEEN YEARS!
The lyrics PF comes up with are the deep, profound, and have somewhat hidden messages. I loved this song ever since I first heard it.
This is the song that meets up with Dorothy meeting the Scarecrow. Wizard of Oz matches up with this album.
phenomenal track. have loved this lp for a very long time.

Dark side of the moon, best album ever.
Im honestly surprised you guys didn't hear this one sooner regardless you're genuine with your reactions. Lex feels the music while Brad analyses the lyrics good combination.
Bueatiful comments and I must say you now quality music and particularly music. that moves you and gets deep into your soul
The album never truly ends at it concludes the same way it begins
If you lived in the suburbs north of Chicago you realized that the best way to listen to this album was stoned, laying on the floor in the dark, wearing headphones,
Chicago must be twinned with Newbury Berkshire. Uncanny similarities in behaviour
"and if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon" SYD ❤
Love how you dove so deep into the meaning g: Astronomy with Brad and Lex!
This always had me thinking that life is fleeting and all you do, say, eat , fight, etc…means nothing in the end. Life goes on without you.
The song is about mental illness. ("Every day the paper boy brings more" refers to photos of politicians in the newspapers). The subsequent album "Wish You Were Here" is about band co-founder Syd Barrett leaving the band due his descent into madness.
Finally found some one who mentions the original singer of pink Floyd , and getting it right ,,.
Sid Barrett couldn't live sober. The lunatic on the grass is Sid. A true poet, a true visionary, it's a shame he wasn't those without drugs.
That's AWESOME and that's why it's the MOST POPULAR album ever but you have to listen to the WHOLE ALBUM.
Lex is absolutely correct! You are so smart girl! Great analysis...take notes Brad...lol
You’ve got to react to Pink Floyd Pulse.. it’s a different experience watching them perform live..

The greatest Rock album of all time, it was in Billboards Top selling albums list for an unprecedented 958 weeks, and over 50 million, (and counting), albums sold!
You guys are discussing the meaning of this song in the wrong context, the whole album is the story, not one song. Virtually all Pink Floyd albums are concept albums telling a story, the "Dark Side Of The Moon" album is about life and death, with a side nod to Syd Barrett in "Brain Damage"
The very beginning of the album, and the very end, showcase a slowed down heartbeat.
There's a direct reference to Barrett in one of the lyrics in Brain Damage, the verse goes,..
......."And If The Band You're In Starts Playing Different Tunes"
Syd Barrett, near the end, was so out of it, so unhinged from reality,... that when the band would be rehearsing, and even at a show or two, Syd would go off and begin to play a different song than the song the other three band members were playing!!
It remarkable how well the song goes with the this movie. They say that it was not intentional but just a huge coincidence.
The smallest thing can block out the largest. It's a mental thing.
If you can talk Brad into it you should watch some of their lives stuff from pulse theater
0:06 BRAD'S LIKE, 'AAAANYWAYS.' AND LEX WAS SO PROUD OF HERSELF LIKE, 'I NAILED IT!' AND SHAKES HER HEAD SMILING HAPPILY. LOL!
Metaphor people. Metaphors. I think the young ladie's on the right track.
Now you all need to listen to this album all the way through, either on your own time or here on the channel. You won’t regret it
Brad after listening to whole album: "it's slow"
Pink Floyd - My favorite band 👍🏻/ Brad - In the closet lunatic 😂/ Lex - Crazy Sexy Cool 😘/ Love you guys! ✌🏻
Song is loosley referencing their friend and founding member, who went crazy and left the band because of mental health issues.
"What's the dark side of the moon?"
There is an intended interpretation, but, as with all art, appreciation is on the client side and not the server.
Whatever meaning you got from this is correct. It is correct because your interpretation is a reflection of you. Your experiences. Your demons. Your triumphs. Your values.
This is the purpose of art.

There is no dark side of the moon , it's all dark, and Roger liked the response and put it at the end of the album.

This is my second favorite band after Zeppelin!
It's all about the original singer of pink Floyd ,,,,
No way this is the first concept album, that title goes to Sgt. Pepper's lonely hearts club band by The Beatles, in 1967
Woah, I had looked into this also thinking about some Beatles albums, and somehow got it wrong. I read somewhere that Dark Side came out earlier. Oh well, I stand corrected. 🤷♀️
Brad, you are the absolute most honest person, and brother, I appreciate that!!
The thing with this whole record is you need to listen to the whole thing, you can't just pick songs out of context.
🏳️🌈⃤ Love me some Floyd!
the last part is the beginning of the first part of the album, pink floyd is to be listened from beginning to end on most of their albums
If I could use one word to describe "The Dark Side of the Moon"... Powerful.
I love watching your Pink Floyd reactions. You both give it time, like letting a tea brew to enjoy it's full strength.
Pink Floyd is a trip in itself. Kinda like the cold side of the sun which sounds like a cool song they could have written.
This album will be played for another 100 years for generations to come
The whole of the album covers birth, death, life, war, money, power, greed and mental illness.
That means during a Solar Eclipse we are all living on the dark side of the moon....
Going insane. Insanity
Brad is right about one thing. He has no clue!
Excellent album in it's entirety
