I grew up on Indiana Jones movies haha but when I started studying anthropology it was hilarious cause those were the first movies they cited as being examples of what NOT to do 😂😂😂

There's a fun channel on uTube where some archeology friends watch and comment on flicks. It's funny. Lol, at one point for the beginning of Raiders they were like, "NO! if you find a room where pressure points on the floor cause darts to come out of the wall, you don't go in. You study it and marvel at the tech they used and how are they still functioning!" Something like THAT ITSELF would be a great discovery. 😂😂😂

I actually started watching the Indiana Jones movies after beginning my studies in anthropology and let's just say it was interesting

It's the only thing I have trouble overlooking in Raiders. The line "I was a child! It was wrong and you knew it!" is wildly dark and sets their relationship off to a weird start.
I've never thought she was saying she was a literal child but that she may have been like 18 or 19 or something . . .

So, as an archaeologist I think I can answer the questions about the map room. Even though this is a totally fictional scenario… the city and the map room seem to be on slightly different strata elevations. Meaning the city was already in existence for a long time before the map room was built. Considering this is Egypt, probably a several hundred years before the arc of the covenant would have been hidden. So the map room would have been created after by a different group to hide the arc and let others know where it was. Because if it’s higher placement it was probably excavated first.
They needed to consult more industry professionals while making this movie haha

I am a HUGE Indiana Jones fan, I actually got into history and archaeology and later studied history due to my love for the films. It also made me embrace the need to travel and be adventurous. I owe a great deal to Harrison Ford and everyone involved in the film franchise.

I love Indiana Jones, it is a childhood classic and my family and I quote it often. Also Rizzo saying Harrison Ford was sick during that one scene and other movie trivia is literally me when I know movie trivia watching the movie with other ppl

Love this movie... but I laughed so hard when The Big Bang Theory "wrecked the movie"... by saying it was a pointless movie because everything would have happened the same without Indiana Jones doing anything.... Indiana Jones is such a great character. I've always love the old adventure stories with the heroes who had quips while they fought.

This movie is one of my childhood favorites, it is just too freakin' good. One of the things I just can't get over though, is the fact that they just causally stored a relic of God, holding the very power of God, in a warehouse. And that's it. I mean it did blend in with other crates but I just can't get over it. That thing is God's power and they just put it away like nothing. Just another thing to add to the warehouse. 🤣
I wasn't sure where to do recommendations so I'll just leave it here, don't mind me. Has anyone recommended "Arcane" yet? It's an animated series on Netflix, video game adaption stuff but they did a great job. An emotional rollercoaster in every episode. Another I recommend is "Gunpowder Milkshake", an action movie with an awesome cast, Karen Gillan, Lena Headey, Carla Gugino, Michelle Yeoh, and Angela Bassett. It's a fun watch and has a pretty awesome neon color aesthetic. Okay, I'm done.
Please do Last Crusade! Definitely my favorite Indiana Jones film.

I'm an 80's kid so I grew up with these films. I would like to see Benji's reaction to the other Indiana Jones films. I am presuming that Rizzo's fav is The Last Crusade? Oh and When you have watched all of them maybe check out The Mummy, starring Brendan Fraser. It leans heavily on Indiana Jones' legacy.

I could have said a lot so far (like that recently people came forward claiming that the story about the swordfight was actually not true or at least that it wasn't Ford who suggested to simply shoot the guy) but the part about the snakes is often seen as a sign that god wants the ark to stay buried here.

I'm pretty sure they said that they tried to hide the ark. It was stolen from Solomon's Temple. The only entrance was that capstone that they removed. Before it was buried by sand, it would have been just one of many landmarks that it could be in. The only way to know for sure where it would be was to use the headpiece that had instructions on where to place the staff.

You have to grow up with these movies to really appreciate and love them. Movies of the past had this magical feeling about them. They don’t make them like that anymore.

I've only seen this once, about ten years ago when my dad was still alive; my mom, dad and I all watched it for my first time together, they had seen it and wanted to introduce me to it. So while I didn't remember most of the film, it has a veneer of nostalgia and fondness for me regardless.

Has anyone seen the episode of The Big Bang Theory, when Sheldon makes Amy watch this movie?... and she pointed out to him tath, if they had just let the nazis take the ark in the first place , the movie would have ended the same way. I think what happened was that when Moses came down with the tablets he saw a lot of the Hebrew worshipping the golden calf, and in his anger he smashed the tablets, and then the group split into two, those who returned to him and those who wouldn't repent their worship of an idol and got punished pretty much instantly for it.
Side note, I think in the bible his brother Aaron was one of the ones who made the image of the calf - though many say it was out of desperation and peer pressure rather than being power-hungry or greedy - but in the Quran he was one of the ones who tried to stop the others from building it. I think he's still regarded as an important prophet alongside Moses in the Bible, the Quran and the Torah, though in all 3 Moses/Musa/Moishe/Moshe is one of the most important figures in the whole text.
I had to put the playback speed in 0.25 so I could read the easter egg. It was worth it

Love this film. But it is definitely one of those you need to watch for the first time when you are like 10-13 yrs old to fully enjoy. Also I’m in the minority of those who Temple of Doom is their favorite lol (I just wanted willies outfits so bad). I think Benji would at least enjoy the sick dance intro from it

It isn't about what you believe, marion is 15 years old George Lucas you know the writer and creator stared marion age of 15 and if she was older then 15 when she first had a relationship with indiana jones it would not be interesting anymore period. and indiana jones would be in his 20s also karen allen the actress who portrayed Marion stated the same about marion being 15 years old when indiana jones and marion had started there romance, so there you have it from the creator and actress themselves, so again needless to say what they say goes, not what you or anybody else wants to say of believe.

The scene in the beginning with Alfred Molina and the spiders, no wonder Doc Ock hates Spiderman. Funny thing is, if Indy had stayed home and done Nothing, the Nazis would have still gotten the ark, opened it, and melted.
I saw this at the theatre when it came out, and coincidentally a girl in my class decided to see it at the same showing. When I asked her how she liked it the next day , she said she left the theater after Miriam "died" in the beginning.. I was like are you kidding me?!?

I never thought that’s what they were doing with her character, I thought it was just showing she turned to alcoholism to cope and drank so much she developed a really high tolerance. Her drinking always seemed like a sad angry thing to me. I think that’s basically where the drinking culture around me came from as well, it was how people coped.

Sadly I don't think I ever understood the film to take the implications of her drinking habits seriously. Now, of course, I can't watch that first scene of hers without worrying about her getting alcohol poisoning, but I don't think the movie .encourages you to treat it realistically...

It's funny. I haven't seen one reaction so far where the reactors get why the arc is full of "sand". Even though I'm an atheist I know that when Moses came down from the mountain with the stone tablets with the commandments, he saw that the people hade begun to worship other gods and that made him so angry that he smashed the tablets. So it makes sense that the arc contains just the remains.
My understanding is that he dropped them and they broke, not that he pulverized them into sand and then swept it up and dropped it in the arc? 😅

If I had to nitpick the fighting scenes are a little hokey at times. . I saw Raiders of The Lost Ark on the big screen still one of the most awesome time's I've ever had at the movie's. Am I as excited for Dial of Destiny no not even close but at least they're closing his story and I'm glad.
