I wonder if either of you caught Debbie yelling "NO PERSON IN THEIR RIGHT MIND COULD LOVE YOU!" and then Fester's next love interest ends up being a woman literally named Dementia.
lmfao just fyi btw: in the original addams family show, they were just very eccentric with unorthodox interests, but not immortalesque nor did they imply they were criminals. part of the joke was that they were the opposite of the standard 50s/60s sitcom family, which included being a wonderfully functional and passionate family (including showing gomez and morticia in their SHARED bed.) also, gomez LOVED paying taxes because he knew it was his responsibility as someone with wealth and ran for office when he thought his taxes were too low. a true king
Feel free to ignore this, as some people prefer this without explanation, but I have a theory as to what the Addams's deal is. The main family branch seemingly started somewhere in Eastern Europe, and one of their members possibly married a demon lord, or a dark Fae prince, or something of that nature. However, the marriage went unexpectedly well, and the entire family became obsessed with the strange, spooky, and all together ooky. They spread across the globe, and the centuries of marrying and breeding with whatever dark entity's they could find lead to the family not really falling under any one species, just being Addams's.
"Are they immortal or something?" The theory is that Addamses cannot be killed by members of their family (though the great aunt who was beheaded by her own children might disagree). As soon as Debbie says 'I do', she can't kill Fester by any means. When she rejects the family, the 'curse' is lifted from her only and Pubert can 😵 her.
Technically Pubert doesn't kill her. Debbie killed herself by not observing safety rules with high voltage electricity - either protection for her hands, or making sure live wires were not lying about. The guy throwing the switch on the electric chair in The Green Mile is using rubber gloves for good reason.
Also work in why the kids try to kill the new baby but fail and the parents are worried cuz at the same time the kids see him as a Addams and part of their family is because of that and thinking they would replaced that they did try to reject and take him out, so in the end it could be a 50/50 stuff perhaps and that's why the parents try to find a nanny
Morticia’s power is her own lighting everywhere she goes, and no pain threshold. Gomez’s powers are investing in ANYTHING and making money (FYI family’s net worth is around $2 billion) and loving Morticia. All of them have the power to dodge/withstand death.
Honestly I saw a really nice theory about how the Addams family cannot be killed by family, or die from natural causes, but normal people can kill them. The reason Debbie couldn’t kill Fester is because by marrying him she became an Addams, thus the protection set. Pubert managed to cause her death because she denounced her place in the Addams family.
Gomez’s life dream is actually to be a failed investor but he’s never managed it. Everything he’s invested in succeeds. That’s actually part of why the Addams have so much money
He kept asking how the Addams are seemingly immortal and asking about the lore surrounding them and what it is is that the Addams are creepy and they're kooky, they're mysterious and spooky and they're all together ooky
I don't even think they cared about the money part. It's stated several times throughout various iterations that the Addams are seemingly infinitely wealthy or always find themselves back to comfortable amounts of wealth
Rizzo’s totally right the “they had sex” joke never gets old, I always giggle or laugh out loud when I hear it. Christina Ricci’s delivery is just perfect Also the thanksgiving pageant massacre…iconic
I said it before (on another video) but Debbie fits the Addams family mold perfectly and they would have accepted her, homicidal tendencies and all !! She couldn't accept them as the "traditional family" she wanted.
Benji asked what would happen if the baby had actually fallen to the ground from the top of the house...at the end of the movie he was shot to even higher heights then the house (like 35,000 feet) and reached the ground with no consequences in the slightest...so there's your answer
Fun fact: Pubert was supposed to be Pugsly's original name back in the day. So it's nice to see that the name made it back into the Addams Family eventually.
My favourite part of the Addam's lore is there has never been a consensus on where Gomez gets his money from. Its different in every version and thats kind of perfect.
I love this movie so much. It's *SO* good. You can't find a more solid couple than Morticia and Gomez. They are life goals. The family unit is so solid and invested in each other in a way that doesn't grate on each others nerves. They are AMAZING (despite the murder and mayhem and grim insanity).

Its very funny. Love your reactions guys ❤️

If you can find it, I HIGHLY recommend The World of Chas Addams - it's a collection of his works, from the Addams Family to some dark little advertising pieces he did during his career. The book is out of print, but I believe you can still find used copies here and there. TOTALLY worth it.

Peter MacNicol and Christine Baranski are perfectly unhinged and hilarious as Gary Granger and Becky Martin-Granger respectively. Talk about brilliant casting 🔥
Someone probably said this already, but the Addams were originally supposed to be a family of monsters, though Gomez was a human married into the family. The movies from the 90s changed it so he was the Addams and brother to Fester. Fester and Morticia were originally siblings, and Grandmama their mother. Because they're monsters in the very Americana sense, it's left up to question on their mortality, and death is more about story convenience than hardcoded into the lore.
You are confusing The Addams Family with The Munsters. In Munsters one of the family (Marilyn) is completely normal, but the rest are indeed monsters - the grandfather is a vampire from Transylvania and the father Hermann is basically Frankenstein's monster. (their car is called Dragula which Rob Zombie liked so much he made a song about it) The black and white TV show of TAM was basically this but far more tame in every fashion - Wednesday actually seems her age regardless of her oddness relative to other children, whereas the Ricci Wednesday is just a younger, snarkier Morticia and altogether too grown up by comparison to Pugsley who isn't that much younger.
That would actually make SO much sense if Gomez was a human who married into the family! Cause everyone else is a pretty clear monster trope (Morticia- Vampress, Grandma-witch, Fester-Igor, butler-Frankenstein) aside from the kids who would be “mixed” half human, with each kid mainly taking after one parent lol
@@PinkPopcast In most versions, Grandmama is Gomez's mother. The musical has a gag where Gomez and Morticia realize she might just be neither of them's mother, it is the best joke in the show.

Well, based on their performance at the Charity Auction in the first movie, I feel like we know that Gomez and Morticia are DEFINITELY NOT QUIET lmao 😜
I think somebody may have said in the comments but yes the Addams are supernatural and there is lore(not spoiling) but they don't focus on it most of time and its like something thats just there. Its treated like the Addams a mystery.
I don't think they actually murder anyone in the movie (at least not on purpose). You see Amanda and her family later on sitting on a plane on the way home, clearly very traumatized but alive! Also when Morticia and Gomez are talking about "no survivers" on their noneymoon cruise there was obviously a disaster of some kind on the ship where everyone died except them of course. They definitely are dark and can survive things that can kill others but I'd still want to work for them as a nanny. lol

To me, Addams family values is top 5 best movie sequels. It’s better than the original. I think because I watched this all the time, I always wanted to be like Wednesday or Lydia deetz from beetlejuice.
The reason they didn't have the audio from the little mermaid is this movie was made by Paramount and they couldn't get the rights to include any copyrighted audio.
Also when I was in school, I had to storyboard a scene from a movie and I chose the turkey musical eat me scene and it made me so upset that none of my classmates (who were 8 yrs younger than me) had no idea what Addams family values was.
when Deb asks "these addams men where do you find them?" and Morticia says "it has to be damp" ...she says that because Fester to means to rot...usually in wet, damp places
Benji's reactions throughout this kept making me laugh out loud. Also, I just realized the camp counselor is the same guy who played Renfield in Dracula Dead and Loving It. I Used to think he was so funny when I was little.
Literally binged the entire series today (AKA the day it came out on Netflix) bc I too am a huge fan of the Addams Family Values. Please please do a reaction! Luv u guys!
Thing being able to drive bothers me a bit, too, mostly because it feels like it was written with the Thing from the magazine cartoons in mind: in those, Thing was a vaguely humanoid... THING that lurked in the mansion, spying on the Family and on the readers, peering out from behind bannisters or railings. The TV show conflated him with various hands and arms coming out of things in those cartoons for simplicity's sake.
Love the review. Big Wednesday fan here (both the character and the show). I adore Christina Ricci's performance in this film, it's superb! It really resonated with me as a kid how ghastly the normal people were in the summer camp to anyone who was different and how Wednesday refused to back down to the bullies.

Another fun fact: Pubert was originally going to be Pugsley's name in the original TV show.
Also when I was in school, I had to storyboard a scene from a movie and I chose the turkey musical eat me scene and it made me so upset that none of my classmates (who were 8 yrs younger than me) had no idea what Addams family values was.
I just love the Cusacks. All of them.
The "deadpan "(pun intended) is absolutely perfect
when Deb asks "these addams men where do you find them?" and Morticia says "it has to be damp" ...she says that because Fester to means to rot...usually in wet, damp places
Benji's reactions throughout this kept making me laugh out loud. Also, I just realized the camp counselor is the same guy who played Renfield in Dracula Dead and Loving It. I Used to think he was so funny when I was little.
i personally love this movie even more than the first one mostly bc of debbie but also that wednesday & pugsley have a little bit more screentime.
I freaking love the Addams family movies Angelica Houston n Raul Julia were just the perfect morticia n gomez
Forever a classic, a masterpiece, a beautiful era.
I’m sad to hear that Benji hasn’t seen much of ‘The Addams Family’. It’s Queer Paradise in my opinion.
“But Debbie, pastels?” gets me every time 😂😂😂😂
I really liked the new TV show. Hopefully you guys will put those reactions on UA-cam, loved seeing this movie again!!
11:41 Great Freeze Frame. Also, one of the tombstones is of a Vulture so anything goes lol
5:18 "I'm not gonna say I had a crush on her... but I'm not gonna say that I DIDN'T have a crush on her." OMG Same! 🤣
Love the review. Big Wednesday fan here (both the character and the show). I adore Christina Ricci's performance in this film, it's superb! It really resonated with me as a kid how ghastly the normal people were in the summer camp to anyone who was different and how Wednesday refused to back down to the bullies.
28:46 Watch the original show, it's good and likely the closest you get to lore
Benji looking fabulous in rose gold, while Rizzo dressed in solidarity w/Debbie.
I binged all of Wednesday today, I loved it and I’d love to see your reactions to it
This was so good, loved the vid
This is by far my favorite Addam's Family movie and I loved dressing up as Wednesday in high school.
This cast left no crumbs 👌🏽🔥
Great reaction! This really is the best live action version of an animated property.
I have always adored The Adams Family and it would be fun to see you reacting to the series or the other movies
