Issue with sky banding is present on ps4pro and ps5 when they are set to display 2160 resolution. Setting it to 1080p removes this issue. It is not a fix to this problem rather than avoidance.
This game is so underrated in my opinion. One of the best horror games ever made. Vr version I thought it should've been game of the year 2017.. I'm a fan of horror games tho so I may be biased. Either way , great game , glad the x finally got the update.
Im not particularly supportive of horror games. I like some of them. And i can tell you this. Its the best horror game iv played.

@@darrenjhodgey4734 VR is absolutely worth it. It would have been one hell of an experience if you hadn't already played the game. I would recommend waiting for the psvr 2 now as in an year, it would make the psvr look extremely outdated. There are some great games on the PSVR worth checking out but it's kind of late now to buy one
The banding sky glitch is present on all console versions when outputting at 2160p! Both PS4 pro, PS5, Xbox one x and Series x! strangely enough this glitch have never been patched/fixed on any 4k console
Thankfully now with the new next gen upgrade it’s finally fixed.
Capcom really delivered on an all around well-developed, optimized, and maintained release with RE7. Thanks for your work DF.

A good patch for the X, though I'm not that impressed by the Vaseline effect that the AA has. When I first stepped out of the car, I thought that there was some kind of bug that was affecting the texture filtering. The IQ looked a lot better when I got into the house.
All games should have an option to turn off Anti Aliasing.
I NEVER use it on PC games (even a decade ago when I was running 1080p)
I think it’s the TAA, and I hate it. Final Fantasy XV and far cry 5 being recent examples, although you can pick FXAA in far cry I think.

PlayStation for uncharted, bloodbourne etc and my Xbox and pc for everything else.

There is no reason to play this game on a one X other then not beeing able to afford a Ps4 Pro and PSVR honestly. This game is SOOO much better in VR, its almost a complete different game
The Pro has sold more than the X, sure it's been out longer, but remember xbone is only relevant in the US and half relevant in the UK.

As an Xbox one x owner i have to say I'm impressed with how well the pro holds up in a few comparisons.. Some games there's a definite difference but I'm starting to see why ps4 owners don't see it as that big of a deal.. either way these games look awesome now.. The one x should've been there case system from day one.. just think about what we INITIALLY got charged 500 for lol

How about texture streaming? On my Ps4 pro this is pretty bad. Tested on western digital external and stock drive.
I have a 2 TB SSD in my PS4 Pro and the texture streaming is still absolutely terrible. A lot of pop-in problems too.

Digital Foundry: Do you guys know if the missing textures from the Xbox One version, were put back in with the X patch?... Like for example, the scene with the cop in the garage... There's water and reflections on the ground, on the PS4 version, that were completely removed on the Xbox One version.

Fendera agreed..it was my standout experience of this gen. A lot of ppl couldn’t take the tension but 30% in the game you get used to it.

probs, for sony this gen, for being able to keep that steady and stable 60fps lock on all hardware, especially considered how often the Xbox One original drops frames in most titels.
RE7 is up there as my favorite game of the generation.

This is an issue yes. Bad texture streaming. Tested on ps4 pro on stock drive and external drive.

do yourself a favour and play it in vr, its so much better. if you dont own a ps4 and psvr nor cant afford one, wait for microsoft releasing a vr headset for the one x and hopefully they will make re7 on xbox vr compatible as well

It’s 2021 and I’m replaying RE7 after finishing RE8. My 3080 Ti doesn’t break a sweat running this game at a flawless native 4k120fps at max settings. It’s just madness how good this game looks and runs.

Looks great on the X, although not exactly what I would expect from a system that costs almost $200 more than the Pro. It's probably a better idea to spend those $500 on a Pro and a couple of awesome exclusive games.

Does the greater resolution increase on Pro translate to improvements with the PSVR mode? RE7 is a great looking running game at 60fps with beautiful HDR support, but it's damn revelatory in VR; the greatest damn thing I've experienced this generation.

Most, if not all, people buying either a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X (or both) are going to have a 4K TV.
Really odd they would implement such a harsher temporal AA solution to the X version given it's higher resolution. Don't really get why they didn't just stick to whatever the AA solution is on the Pro.
Cleaner image or not, the PS4 version supports VR. And this game is absolutely amazing and terrifying when played that way.

Thanks to backcompat there are more exclusivs on xbox than on any other system.
Good showing for the X version, albeit I still would take the Pro’s harsher edges to a Vaseline effect used on the X. I always prefer sharper lines with shimmer to any blur, even preferring Saturn over Nintendo 64’s image quality due to this. Either way, the X has no VR support, so the PS4 (Pro) version wins here anyways.

Ankur Solanki That's impossible. 16 amps and 260 volts would be 4,160 watts, many many times more than the ps4 needs.. You misread it.

When I game at 4k I always turn AA off. There is no need to blue the pixels when running at super sharp resolutions.
Its not worth the power consumption. I much rather have the crispier look than a blurry look, even if we see some jaggies.
Are we talking MSAA x 4 and 8? Because they can be quite heavy. I run a GTX1080 and I just prefer to leave the AA off, it helps out on the fps. 4k is already really clear and crisp. It doesn't really need AA in my opinion.
I can barely notice the difference using high end AA on 4k software. I turn it off mainly due to it. It also helps eases the load off my GTX1080 and achieve slightly better frame rates. To me it just isn't worth having it on if the game is sharp.
