Fabulous video of showing real prospecting on a creek. Make more of these type of videos. I learned so much even when you were not talking, and more when you were.
@robertmackey5608 he has countless videos ( I'm sure they can be counted, lol ), and each is just as informative as the last ... or the next ... depends if you start at his oldest videos and learn and grow with Chris
Way to keep it real Chris. I have a friend who got me into prospecting but he doesn’t want to take the time learning how to find the deposits. He just wants to sluice everything & thinks he will make bank. This video demonstrates why only some people are willing to be prospectors & others become disillusioned by all the learning & rigorous work involved. Thanks for a real video in our modern world of fantasy Chris! I’ve learned so much from you.
Hey Chris, good to see you. I love your videos and always will. I do hope one day you score it big, you do deserve it. everything that you've taught people is just way amazing, I can't do it no more due to health reasons but I try to live through you, and I appreciate that. one more thing does " Mick" have his own channel.???
Loved this video: demonstrating how you locate gold, in a waterway, what to look for, how no two waterways or localities are the same and what to look for as you dig down into, and study, the geology of your site. Excellent teaching video. Great job, Chris!
I know you won't see this Chris, but hello! I watched you during the covid years, then decided I needed a break from youtube and got rid of my account. Finally remade a new account and this is my first post! You and gadzee made me wanna pan again, and it's great to see you've kept your channel going for all these years. I've been watching, but without an account wasn't commenting. I hope you have a great day out there in Aussie land. Tell gadzee hello! Or some Australian version of that!
@@minerjohnny41 Cris is awesome he shows us that it is possible to live your dreams and collect much gold that’s still out there. I really appreciate the content of his efforts and the knowledge he has and passes on is very valuable and enjoyable to watch cheers man

Hi Chris, great video, especially for those like me who live in areas where the gold is hard to find. Grinding it out in the rain with little to show for it is how I spend most of my prospecting time, Then a deposit comes along and it all seems worthwhile. Absence makes the heart grow fonder!
“I’m going to make old man noises because I’m over 30.” I love that comment. I have shoes older than that. I really enjoy your videos and learn so much. But I’m over 70 and if I started digging around in creeks now they would throw a net over me and take me away.
@VoGusProspecting it will never happen, my buddy, from learning how to read a creek, usage of all the different pans and other gear, and the all-around fun you have no matter what your adventure is I'd like to see you and Gadzee do a few gem sieving competitions.... and then combine them and create a nice " project " on your other channel, like idk, garnets for Fern's eyes on wooden cut out, or gemstones and resin 🤔 💭
Maybe I'm not a huge fan of so long videos but I glad that I've seen this one. It's the same when I'm hunting for crystals. 5 hours in the "field" just to find maybe few crystals. Or not to mention crystals from places like big mines where you need to mine 10 tons of granite for example to find one pocket 20x20cm
This is a great video, as you said it's all in the search, many years ago I use to go down mines that are now filled in that had Quartz Crystal's that had seams of gold in them, use to Dolly for hours and pan and get a lot of fine Gold. So yes Quartz in certain areas does have Gold in it.
Hey Chris, I’ve been watching a few of your videos this evening. I have been watching you for the past couple of years. The video I just watched had gold facts periodically coming up. I really liked this idea, however the print was very small and it only stayed up for a couple of seconds. I would like to see bigger print and posting for a longer period of time. Thank you for considering my request. Arizona, USA 🌵
Very much enjoyed this exploration panning session, Chris. Understanding the soils, plants, geology and mineralogy, in combination, your shovel as scientific instrument, and the physiology of your own body, how long can you go before pain or rain tells me or you to stop, how many days recuperation will it be?! Quite the generous observation how often us amateurs get to be out and away is reduced to a fraction of time or incidences if you've been disabled, sometimes in a number of ways, but, like I've mentioned to other truly nice folk making content such as yourself, Pete, Coffee Bush Kid, etc, that getting to do such activities as you share can be an excellent excuse for the several health benefits you obtain, just incidentally. These could be included in your uploads, definitely not in a heavy way, but the fresh air, ongoing fitness with persevering with the hobby, feeling closer with the environment and the histories of where we happen to exist, you're a shining example, shiney one, shine on, not crazy, though maybe a Wodonga yellow diamond. Oh, I'll be generous and stop here, just to say - avagoodweekend! Onya, keep shining!

Hey bud, do you think its worth stacking the clay/root balls up in your classifier to see if you are throwing away gold thats locked up? Also you need a machete and a digging fork to sort those pesky roots and tall grass.
I'm a detectorists and yesterday I was in a spot where people camp every summer and have done for 60 years maybe more, anyway first good signal was deep and my heart was pounding when I saw a small gold edge of a coin I thought omg I've found a sovereign or something similar and I opened the clod and after I focused I could see it was 10€ from Ireland 🇮🇪, anyway it's first foreign coin I've found and I found slot of other modern coins in a small patch.
In the 49er gold fields in CA the guy who made the most money owned the general store that sold mining supplies to the prospectors and then bought them back and resold them. They also often ran pawn operations for the guys who could not quit even when they did not strike it. Just saying....
I know everyone pans differently, and I don't mean this to be rude, but some of the methods you use are without question losing you gold. Even if you are just "fast searching/scouting". At the very very least, you should carry a second pan or small bucket and your classifier at all times, because everything should be classified to remove large rocks and debris. A large differential in size of material causes eddy's in the water which washes out gold, so for something that takes nearly no effort of just a quick classification, why bother the risk? Classifying also makes the panning easier and faster. Also, digging in your pan when you're getting down to the last refactor and flicking out clumps of stone is a terrible idea you could be flicking out gold, and additionally if you had classified properly in the first place, it wouldn't be a problem. TLDR, You're working harder than you have too, You're losing gold , and You're losing gold at the end of the process flicking out large clumps of rocks/dirt, and all because you don't classify.
@@VoGusProspecting In my experience and testing this(and other aspects of panning) 50 pans with and without classification, you do lose some, and it takes longer, and as classification takes essentially a trivial amount of time and effort, it ends up saving time. It's generally considered common knowledge since almost all forms of high banker or sluice either have a classifier built in for best results, have optional attachment, and recommend you do either way, but I wanted to make sure it actually mattered and didn't just take it for granted. Those are just the results of my tests, my theory the water flows faster around rocks to fill the area behind them>so rock sink into the panned sand/dirt till the bottom out giving them access to the gold>then the faster flow around the rocks digs deeper giving access to gold and moving it. My theory could be wrong but the result was still worst for me.
