If you’re keen on making some modifications to the rocker box I would recommend that the first adjustment you make is putting some higher sides on the hopper, it makes putting material through it just that much easier by containing the splashes a bit and letting you put some more material in Also it allows you to shake the rocks around more violently when you are washing them
Maybe add a foot pedal to the rocker box? That would free up the other hand to use a bucket or you could stand upright and save your back a bit? A lot of old tools or early machines ran on foot power. Maybe easy as a fixed “lever” firmly attacked to the side of the box. 🤷♂️ That’s my suggestion to improve the rocker box. I figure ya won’t see this post, but maybe.
I'm 73 years old and I found out I had a red/green color deficiency when I enlisted in the Marine Corps at age 17. It wasn't enough to keep me from enlisting but it was bad enough that I never saw combat; they trained me as a computer programmer (COBOL) and I worked in air conditioned comfort for my 3 year enlistment. A few years after I got out of the Marines, I applied for a job as a lineman for Bell Telephone and I washed out of that when I had to match different colored shades of wire together. You do quite well for having color vision problems. We see what we see and adapt and overcome. I have been following your videos for about two years and look forward to each new one.
Thank you for posting this vid right now Chris! It's 4:00 am on Friday morning here in Virginia, USA, and I'm in the middle of a panic attack. I REALLY needed this distraction!!! 😕
Hi Chris. A suggestion in regard to the classifier doubling to transport your gear. Attach a couple of heavy duty castors to it and add a handle. Strap down the gear and bingo, a carrier.
This is a fun to watch video! I cut and finish opals and set them into jewelry. The Ethiopian opals are the most colorful ones and my favorite to work with.
Chris, I've watched you for a while now, and always enjoy your videos. They have been very educational, and I admire your knowledge of geology, mineralogy, and history, you know what you're talking about. I'll probably never have the chance to pan for gold, age, finances, and area are against me today, but I wish I had the knowledge I've gained from you back in the days I was hiking around the Rockies in the gold mining areas. I saw many a sign of mining, but never even thought about what was, MOST probably, in the streams, creeks, and rivers I encountered in some very remote back country. I'm thinking my "finances" would be in a whole different zone right now if I had this knowledge back then!🤔🤯 I've watched so many of your videos weighing your gold, and, side note, thank you for that, that I've gotten pretty good at estimating your gold's weight, and when you said you thought you had 1.5 grams, I said Naw, that's an easy 2 grams. It came to 2.1 grams. Good job, Chris. Thanks again for your videos.
Love your rocker box! Simple, yet effective. And your bush classifier. You are very resourceful! Great video!! That was great that your cousin came to visit from Cornwall UK. Have a great weekend!!
Rocker box as automatic pan --- I like that analogy. Sometimes it's fun to relax and not be so worried about efficiency and production, and just enjoy the process. There are days where I just want to pan, and I couldn't give two shits about how much gold I get.
Chris, I love what you provide for the viewers. I enjoy your videos. Thank you for providing wholesome, quality content! I would know, both my dad and sister are geologists. I grew up panning and slucing. Love what you put out for the world to see.
I love the old tech , I snapped a burlap sack this past fall at work I have plans to Rock the Rocker on a very profitable feeder in Vermont 🎉soon seeing how springs coming early 😀
“Cousin jack” you said so people think your related to him even though you explained he’s a patron lol but he’s a cool dude in my opinion and it was nice to see him. Nice gem stones, and as for that black rock it’s a slight possibility that it’s a fulgurite. Hmm should I explain or let you google it…. I’ll explain fulgurites are formed from lightning strikes they can look like glass or anything really just depends on the material the lightning hits the little botryoidal (bu-troy-dul) bubbles are what leads me to this deduction. That’s a very nice specimen bummer on the rain messing you up but like you said you’ll get it. NOW FOR MY FAVORITE PART OF THE VIDEO…. 34+ minutes was a treat so thanks for that I miss the longer videos 😬and thanks for sharing see you on the next one👍🏼👊🏼P.S. you said you can’t afford hard rock prospecting equipment BUT… you have spud engineering… soooo is it possible to scale up your 4 inch grinder crusher to something with an electric motor and a bigger hopper and crushing chamber????…. Food for thought…. I think you can in my opinion..
That piece of bubbly black rock is a meteorite rock. You can can carry it around in a wheel barrel and dip French fries in ketchup on it. Lol, JK. Love you VoGus!! Great content.
Will once again another good video lots of nice shiny😂 it's good being out on the creek with family and friends but one of these days you're going to find a really nice nugget it'll make you cry😂😂❤❤
My area has more black sand half is non magnetic and seems just as heavy as the magnetic stuff and to make it more screwed up it’s super proper duper fine and flat so it will sit in every layer of black sand impossible to shake to the bottom layer all together
With size of gold on Reedy Creek you could get rid of everything above 3 mm on the spot of exavation and run much diminished material through one of your clean up sluice boxes. I would be eager to see what results you could get, regards George
Hi Chris! Thank you for sharing so much valuable information. Today I learnt about Jasper because of your video and, I do come across a lot of Jasper while panning, they are around the size of baseballs. They always stuck out to me as special but only picked up one. Do you have any videos about the different gemstones and crystals that can be found? Im always on the lookout for pretty rocks but can hardly identify them and I wish to able to do so. Thanks!
I was wondering since you crushed up that mineralized ore when you pour off the cloudy water out of your wheel barrel containing the minerals that you crushed out if your lawn does better because of the minerals?
That looked to be a huge nugget for the UK most of our gold is either dust or hard rock dust thanks to glaciers I would love to find gold like this in Aberdeen but it's a spec every couple of days exploring but the fun had is why I do it
I really enjoyed the archived ore coming out to throwing it out of the fire, back into the frying pan! Thanks for sharing. Meaning sitting on your bum doing the computer work. To me that would be the hard part.
Hell yeah you're right! I want to see you classifying dirt, panning, gem-hunting and everything else! Also, a request; can you make a video where you try to hunt the richest alluvial deposits in your part of Australia (going to ultra remote places and putting your knowledge and skills into it)?
i got a thought, what about using a small spray bar with larger holes around the top rim of the rocker box so you have moor flow vs "SPRAY", I KNOW U SAID YOU DONT WANT TO but hear me out. it would take some thinking to avoid clutter but what if you hooked up a switch/push button to the top of the rocker box handle. That way could wouldn't need the ladle and the water would only turn on and off when you hit the button. Not sure how hard on the pump it would be switching it on and off a hundred times in a day. your could build a little shelf/basket on the side of the rocker box to hold the battery, make the wiring to the switch shorter, and the only thing that could be in the way is the water hose n pump. My modern thought process to update a rocker box.
I'm gonna say this and you probably already know it but you should be putting all of that or into a really hot fire in the backyard wait until you can see The Rock starting to globe and then put it up with a hose those rocks that o'er will fracture and will be super super Easy to grind. If I remember correctly you were the one that showed me that trip a few years ago cause you did it outside your house if it wasn't you it was somebody else it does hard rock Mining
Hey Hey Hey you have had a couple of good days nice total Chris but fun video and good for your visitor all the way from jolly old England you did say he was your cousin right?. Smart move getting out of the creek btw in case of flooding. See you on the next video mate.
Hey mate, I own 40 acres in Qld downstream from an existing gold mine. I have 2 crystal clear creeks running at present. When I bought this place 1yr ago it was over run with lantana. I’ve cleared it all now. The place is full of rusty quartz. Is that a sign? Pls answer mate cheers.
I notice you passed Chiltern , do you know if the bakery there is still open and Australian owned , some of the best pies I've had came from there , so much that we bought dozen of them after we had already bought 6 , I'm a pie loover as. I use to make pies at a bakery that was renowned for best pies in Sydney for years.
Hey bro, I'm just sayin' that those look Coober Pedy because Ethiopian Opals are found 9000 ft up a 10,000 ft cliff in Ethiopia, they are Hydrophane, meaning they absorb water & become crystal clear & after a while let that water out leaving honey colored opals, mostly...I found Wood Opals in the AZ deserts & some in geodesic too since All Opals were once living things. Just sayin'....

Quickly became my favorite UA-camr last year! All the love from an Oregon hobby miner!
Hi Chris. A suggestion in regard to the classifier doubling to transport your gear. Attach a couple of heavy duty castors to it and add a handle. Strap down the gear and bingo, a carrier.
Those OPALS!!!🤩
Bushcraft engineering, gotta love it
Excellent Chris, keep up the good work, thoroughly enjoy watching them, stay safe and may the gold gods bless you with full pans👍👍👍
I like how you used your tailings to build a mini pad for the rocker box. Great gold Chris!
Yeah, they don't like to rock on sand. I use the large rocks to make the pad solid.
This is a fun to watch video! I cut and finish opals and set them into jewelry. The Ethiopian opals are the most colorful ones and my favorite to work with.
Nice watch! Lots of shininess goodies. What a fun time. Those opals had some decent size and flash.

Great video!! That was great that your cousin came to visit from Cornwall UK. Have a great weekend!!
That classifier has helped immensely
Chris, could you make a foot operated water pump to use with the rocker box. We’d love to see how coordinated you are…😊
Those are absolutely beautiful opals, I still prefer fire opals
At 25:30 that Rock you are asking about is what in Arizona USA we call Conglomerate where as you know is hard pack of many materials

Great Stuff! Y’all have some amazing Gold! Enjoyed it!
You need miners Moss in the top of your rocker box, and your welcome for the rocker box idea my friend.
There was some moss right under the classifier.
I literally show you the apron.

Fabulous Vid Chris. Your new Cornish Bud is great to watch.
Thanks Chris. We always enjoy your channel.

nice gold thank you for sharing the adventure and information and you'll get it chris you always find a way.
Now that was a awesome video 👏👏👏
Thank you sir 😎
Thanks for sharing Chris.
Rockerbox for the Win! I would like to see the modern modifications you make to the rockerbox.
That piece of bubbly black rock is a meteorite rock. You can can carry it around in a wheel barrel and dip French fries in ketchup on it. Lol, JK. Love you VoGus!! Great content.
I've been missing the hard rock videos so thank you!😊
You did great, thanks for sharing.
If you’re going to classify wet dirt with that mesh, try a gentler angle!
Greetings from Ibiza, Spain. Love your videos!! Always gets me in a good mood 😅
Always like your attitude on life. Didn't get it this week but there is always next week.
Try a tarps underwater and put your screen flat on the water 😀 should work even better 😊
Hello cousin Jack - my dad is a Cornishman and all his family are scattered throughout…..including in Victoria Australia!
Yeah boy! You've got family on my turf!! That's awesome ❤
Jack's a cool fella 😎 👌 well done on the video 3 days at play ▶️ 🎉
I love your video’s Chris ❤
i love this rocker box old school you and gades top notch always watch and learn seal well unkown have pics will send seal baby
Looks warm so nice
Have you considered putting 2 wheels and 2 handles on your classifier and some bungee cord to quickly strap it together and drag it around easier
Will once again another good video lots of nice shiny😂 it's good being out on the creek with family and friends but one of these days you're going to find a really nice nugget it'll make you cry😂😂❤❤

@19:44 strap a 3L bottle to the rocker handle with a tap. Semi Auto water system haha
Volcanic bubbles indicate the top of a flow. That does look Bresciate extrusion crush it down .
With the rocker boex Does most of the gold concentrate in the middle the edges or even spread?
Even spread a cross the top
Thanks Chris
Great work mate...you got close.
such an awesome prospecting channel

You can float your pan on the water and tap it against the wheelbarrow, does a nice job of starting your concentrating in stratification.

Go back into some of Chris's older stuff amd watch the dads reef vids. They are ultra remote without stupid heat

You can prop your homemade screen over a tarp to make it easier when you aren’t throwing it right into the bucket
I thought about that, but it's just another thing to dragg out bush for little gain.
So much fun!!
Would a long rocker box catch more Gold
Thanks for sharing 😊
Is the bottom of the rocker box rounded? I'm thinking of building one.
Yes, two rounded slats
0:45 How is your thumb doing that?
Hey mate, I own 40 acres in Qld downstream from an existing gold mine. I have 2 crystal clear creeks running at present. When I bought this place 1yr ago it was over run with lantana. I’ve cleared it all now. The place is full of rusty quartz. Is that a sign? Pls answer mate cheers.

I'm not sure man
I can confirm the Rock Crusher does indeed use a lawnmower engine.
There's no mistaking that sound lol
Hello Chris, with my suggested classification, it would've been even easier and faster, regards George
We really need to get Jason from MBMMLLC over there to give you some hard rock processing gear :P

Hey Chris I noticed your collection of PRIME bottles in your kitchen window which one if any do you like ????
None, that's the kids
What ?? you have seeded your devil spawn into another human and had Imps 😂👍
What slope are you designing to set your rocket?
Flat, you set your rocker up on a slope to achieve the right angle.
Right. Reckon what's why your FrankenBanker has the after-market log. Makes the top independent from the bottom.
Couldn't like this vid enough just for that simpsons reference 🤣
can you use a sluice in Western Australia YES or NO?
Yes
