I remember building models back in the 70s. I'd use my scout knife to cut the parts out of the frame and smooth the cuts with my mom's nail file. My favorites were the F-4 Phantom, P-47 Thunderbolt, B-17 Flying Fortress, and Huey Cobra. I used Testors spray and bottled paints. Those were the days.
They are good, yes, but a pinnacle of plastic injection? No. Not by a long shot. Tamiya and Bandai, just off the top of my head, are definitely superior.
A wonderful way to spend 21+ minutes. You have taken an old kit, and made a gem out of it. I've learned that B-25's take an inordinate amount of weight up front in order to keep this bird on 3 legs. I've most always had to resort to the ladder or step in back to keep the tail up. I enjoyed the NMF prep and paint. Very Nice result!
You might be able to sneak a mix of BBs and PlayDoh inside the cowlings and forward of the landing gear in the nacelles.. With a clear bombardier J1 nose any weights in there may be harder to conceal.
OUTSTANDING Build, "Thank You" for sharing this with us. I got about 10 of the Hasegawa J-model and H-model versions that I want to build in my collection.
Thank you very much! And yes, I understand you completely. This is one of the nicest kits in 72nd scale. So many beautiful marking, can't blame you for 10 pieces. All the best! Dusan.
That was one of my first models, more than six decades ago. B-25 "Mitchell" by REVELL. I had just read "30 Seconds Over Tokyo", so I was disappointed that the decals were not "Ruptured Duck" nose art. No tweasers, no gloves.... Lots of glue where it didn't belong.
I have exactly the same project on my shelf, all painted and decalled, with Eduard’s BigEd set applied and LEDs for interior lighting. After a couple of weeks, nasty seem lines appeared on the upper and lower fuselage. Your advice to let the kit sit for a while after assembling is a very good one.
Yes I had that problem in the past as well. Some people use the "super glue" etc. But again It would shrink a bit anyway. That's why I prefer good solid plastic to plastic joints, with few days off before sanding. All the best! Dusan
Very well done kit - I also like the video very much - step by step to the great looking bomber - just great! The North American B-25 "Mitchell" is one of my favorite WWII medium bombers! Maybe I should try a kit one day - we'll see. Greetings, John
You will enjoy your time with this kit. I have built one in the past and this one. I might buy Eduard boxing with glassed nose as well 🤔 All the best! Dusan
hey man i dont know if you remember me but im the kid whose making a diorama with my grandad and i just wanted to drop in and say hi and i wish you the best for inspiring me into modelling
The masking tape was a bit loose and not so strong. As you can see in the video I had spare ones (the decals) and yes, I managed to lift them in the past with stronger tape. Lesson learnt, nice observation, all the best!! Dusan
Beautiful model, the Mitchell was one of my favourite WWII bombers, I had the old Airfix, but this is really from another planet! My only complaint is about the lack of figures, some mechanics & crewmen could be useful for a diorama
I built a 1/72 gun-nose Mitchell as a kid in the 60s! I'm thinking it was from Monogram, maybe? It would be laughable by today's standards. I haven't built kits in decades, but the complexity, part count, and finish in today's offerings blow my mind! The price reflects that, of course, but the expectations are far beyond what we could have imagined back then.
The 1958 Monogram kit was ''box-scale'' -- meaning all the boxes were the same, and the airplane kits were sized to fit. I have one. I'm rebuilding it for a project. If you go metric a real B-25 has a wingspan of 20.6 meters. The kit plane's wingspan is 29.9 Cm. Do the math and you get about 1/69 -1/70th scale. Rivet detail is attrocious by modern standards. Rivet heads the size of walnuts. Also clear raised lines for where the decals go. The B-25H [w/ 75mm cannon] was obsolete for combat by 1947 when the USAF was created and the national marking got a red stripe added to its ''wings''. But it was a pretty model for its day, and only retailed for 98 Cents.
LoL, it's the paint, paint is very nice. Looks like the orange peel during the second coat but it have self leveling effects to super gloss surfaces 👌 All the best! Dusan
This hasegawa b-25j will be released by Eduard as a limited edition (Angel of Mercy) in early September, it can be pre-ordered already. The kit number is 2140.
@@ScaleModelAircraftI didn't know that. Hasegawa has the unfortunate habit of breaking the kits in multiple small sprues, not many unused parts provided. This way they can release different boxings for specific versions. But the problem is that they are not available, or are very expensive. All the best to you too, Simon
Well that's true the H isn't available... btw, at the moment Hasegawa (E16) B-25J is available on plast model* website, not bad price, the same plastic that you get in limited edition Eduard. (I don't have anything with that shop). All the best!! Dusan.
@@ScaleModelAircraft yes I noticed too that it's available there, and this week - 12% for hasegawa. I think plastmodel and mojehobby probably have the best prices for hasegawa. Some kits cost only a couple of euros more than on plaza japan or hlj. They are imported by hobby 2000. I already ordered the eduard limited edition from a local finnish store for 36€, and since I don't pay for the postage it's a reasonable price. Regards, Simon
Wow, amazing build. Great job. I have a larger scale version of this in my stash, probably be building it on my channel at some point. Thanks, have a great day.

Great B-25! Have you considered using Alclad metal paints. Never used them myself but I have heard many times that they are the best metal paints in the market atm. Great video with great music, always a pleasure to watch your videos Dusan, take care!
Thank you very much! Yes, I have used Alclad many times. There was a video about it, how to use alclad made by me. I might do it again in better quality, metallic work can be messy sometimes. That's why I try to go easy way, less handling is a key. Hey, I even tried automotive paints on scale models. To be honest, they performed surprisingly well😮 Again, thank you!! All the best! Dusan.
Alright so not to long ago, two weeks max, I saw a B-25 flying over my house while going to an Airshow. It was obviously a B-25, you can't mistake it for anything else, and it had the turrets and all still on. A little later, probably for the same air show there was a F-100 Super Sabre
