No old, bold pilots . . . Really ? Go tell this guy. What a service career history. Survived 35 B-17s missions with Le May's outfit. Very interesting. These personal micro histories are so much more compelling than the bigger picture.
This video is too short! He laughs about some of the most butt-puckering experiences an airman could have as if they were joy rides. So glad I got to hear these stories. Anyone watching this should lookup the video of the walk-through of a B-36 from the USAF Museum. This airplane is a monster, there used to be one on display at Chanute AFB, IL when I was there in 1971-2. Those wings were thick enough a man could standup inside them.
A fascinating man with a wonderful airforce history, from a crewman on a WW2 B17 all the way through to a commanding officer in a B36 to B52's. he served his country well.
Thank you for your comments! "They had the B36, the B52, the B70, and we poor French people have the A380, but the latter is a civilian aircraft. I would have liked to see this beautiful metal bird! And especially to be able to fly on board, but I doubt that this dream will come true? Congratulations to those men who designed, developed and flew it, then exploited and operated it".
These first-hand accounts are the most interesting. I'm so glad his experiences were recorded for all of us to enjoy years later.
The gentlemen is still so lucid remembering these stories, must have been the most exciting of times..
These stories are GOLD
Thanks for sharing and THANKS for your service

The info and presentation of Maj Douglas I could listen to all day long, and all of the week to come. God bless him and his family!
Walter also flew B-17 combat missions over Germany during WWII.
Fascinating stories. I love hearing from these wonderful aviators.
Glad you like them!

These are not embellished "Dits" or "Line shoot" stories by some vet, but real personal experience accounts. Very impressive.
B - 3 6 Commander 👍
Next level Super Cool
Pretty incredible first hand account! Thanks for your service and for sharing an often overlooked chapter in the Cold War.
