Exactly one month ago we got the exact same Tesla. My wife and I are both 80 years old and traded a top end Prius Prime. Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks?😀
You change cars as often as i change socks! We took delivery of our new 2024 X Stealth Grey with white interior. Sold our 2021 MYP after 56k wonderful miles. The X is levels above the Y so your choice to go back to a base 3 is interesting. Enjoy!
Dave. Always loved your videos. Been watching forever. I just test drove 3 teslas today and I think I am buying the model 3 performance. It’s expensive but dang…. Ive been driving a 2012 Camry forever and it’s time for a 30 year old to have a sporty car. Thanks for inspiring me. I’m still worried about making such a big decision but I know I’ll love it. Love from Minnesota in Rochester!
Dave is much nicer than me on the accessory side. My first X came with the home charger and a stack of adapters, nicer mats, cleaning kit, etc. I kept all these when I turned the car back in and have moved them to the replacement vehicle.
Great video,, Dave. Congratulations on the new Model 3. I watched another video today of the new Fiat 500 E. 117 miles of range and a real dog for $37,000. Why bother when you can have the Tesla?
I knew he was going to buy the new 3. You could see how much he loved it when he was in it. I’m more intrigued on what he’s going to get towards the end of this year since he eluded to that fact. Where he got the cheapest model 3 we know he’ll change it up lol. Have tons of fun Dave in your new 3! Congratulations!
I can't imagine giving up my 2023 Model X for a Model 3. I'm older than you, so the ease of getting in and out of the X is important. But I also really love the smooth air suspension, the quieter ride, the fantastic sound system, the automatic powered front doors, the ability to power open the doors for passengers, the extra room, the better heating and cooling, the chilled front seats, the huge front windscreen, the overall comfort, the longer range, the big tilting screen, the second screen for the driver, the arm room on the wider console, the extra space for passengers, and last but not least, the falcon wing doors. I have also owned a 3 and a Y, but the X is by far my favorite. I hope you like your car. And I hope you and Kathy have a fantastic anniversary cruise. Where are you going?
I absolutely agree!!! My first Tesla was a 2012 Model S. And while I loved that car, it was low to the ground, and my Model X is SO much easier to get in and out. I’m driving a 2023 Model X now, a Long Range, and I love it! My son has a Y, and it’s nice, but we miss the air suspension. I rented a Model 3 from Hertz and it was fun, but again, it’s really low, and it reminded me of how much easier the X is. And, here in the South, the cooled seats are WONDERFUL!
I got the same Model X as Dave around the same time. I’m just getting used to the car and it keeps getting better. It’s taken time to really bond with this car. FSD changes and auto park are improved. Matrix headlights just updated. My wife still struggles with the site lines and parking but I feel like the car is just breaking in (mindset wise). The size, comfort and windshield is great. I could not see myself going into a smaller Tesla. I just retired and I’m starting to road trip. The X is a great car for that. I just left a Mustang Mach E and I’m happy. Dave’s choices are interesting. Lucid to the Model X and now into a 3. He’s going to miss the luxury element. He’s headed towards a Taycan or Maycan for sure. The model 3 will be gone right after new years.
I'd hope you would have bought a Model 3 from Hertz with high mileage to check out the range and battery degradation. I thought you would continue your used car purchase with a Tesla. You are definitely one in a million with so many cars going through your portfolio. You should have a contest to guess the number of cars owned and guessing which models too. It would cool to see your list of cars in your lifetime thus far with obviously more to come. Congratulations to Kathy for allowing to wheel and deal cars during 35 years of marriage. She is a saint.
The refresh has three huge features that make it a lot better than the 2023 one I bought just before Highland came out. Ventilated seats, better suspension, it's quieter. I'm not upset at saving $12,000 though. My out the door price was just under $30,000.
My delivery day of TM3LR is on Wednesday next week. I'm so excited. 😊People here in Europe are afraid of new customs duties increase for cars importer from China. My TM3 comes from China. Greeting from Poland
Picked my my 2024 M3P last Saturday. PS for folks out there if you're upgrading from the older model 3 I found the floor mats to still fit the new refresh model 3. I had a set of the 3D floor mats, the truck mats will work but not a 100% fit but close enough,
Took delivery of my Highland LR December 6 and I am so pleased with this car. Just recently tried an S Plaid and I was so surprised to find out the suspension of the S felt like a horse carriage. It was sooo hard even it is an air suspension. My 3 is much more comfortable. And the door sound in my 3 is Mercedes "clonk". In the S the doors sounded and felt like empty oil barrels... Regarding the price difference I have to say that right now the 3 is the most high quality car Tesla has in the model program. Can't wait to see what magic they will do with the Y when that comes refreshed. Good luck with your new 3 and I guess both you and your wife will be really satisfied with that one.
Nice Dave! I want a LR ultra red with nova wheels. My next car for sure. Also super weird and concerning they took the factory reset option away. What happens if you sell your car third-party or to a non-Tesla dealership. Now they have all your data!
Looking at ABRP, the base model doesn't take that much longer on a road trip compared to the Long Range. (only 6 minutes longer on a 16 hour trip I'm currently planning), so I think you made a good purchase When the new model Y comes out, then that will most likely be my first EV
I had the same positive helpful experience from the people at Mohegan Sun in April for my MYLR . For those in CT or close to that area I recommend them as well. I live 75 minutes away but driving home was effortless! Fun video,Dave, and congrats on the new Tesla!
We have '23 model 3 rwd lfp with 14,000 miles. Range is now 263 @ 100%. No issues..still drives like new. Yes..plenty fast. I have no issues with performance.
This will be a nice journey to follow. I want to get my 86 yr old dad a base model y so this will give me to background I need. I let him drive my MYP and he liked it but it was bit much :)
The refreshed Model 3 is so good, and is actually the best car you can buy for $39000. It drives fantastic, build quality is so good now, and the performance is great considering the price.
Good choice Dave! Congrats on the new car! I took delivery of my Tesla, exact same spec as yours, 7 months ago. I really like the cloth inserts in the doors. It's an efficency machine! Miss the speed from my TM3P, but hey, it has incredible value and 100% daily charging is awesome! 👍 BTW waiting for the Juniper Y. Happy anniversary!
When you said you Model X was gone, don't think for a second we didn't know what you were up to! 🚗😆. We're close in age Dave and you have no idea how nerd similar we are. I'm on my second Tesla, waiting for Rivian to add NACS to add one to my garage. You missed the 2023 Tesla Takeover in California, but I met Kyle there. Hope you're there this year.
Picked up a used 2023 model s plaid with hw 4. It had not gone much, and got a really good deal. I’m so happy with it and the acceleration is just insane and so fun. I tried the model 3 but I can’t stand that it doesn’t have a center screen, it feels incomplete and it’s too small and doesn’t have that acceleration although I only tried the standard so you can’t really compare but still . My next car will be the same model s but a newer model year or even a roadster if it’s ever coming out. I’m never buying a different car. I love it so much everything works perfect and love the plaid badge at the back
Love ya buddy but you apparently have more money than sense. I am stressing over having to turn in my leased Bolt next year while you change cars like I change socks!
Congratulations on the new ride.....AGAIN! LOL. That price really can't be beat. However, I'm quite shocked you didn't get the performance. Yeah, nobody needs that kind of speed, but it is an awful lot of fun. Gr8 vid as usual. 🚗🇺🇸🔌⚡
Dave pulls off another good trade. While not as much car as the X Plaid, I bet the RWD 3 works out fine. It should be an enjoyable car to drive, and perfect for driving around town and as a "station car." Looking forward to Dave's videos about it.
I and I'm sure many folks here are looking forward to your videos on this car. Thanks for getting the cheapest Model 3 so that folks who may be interested but not quite sure what owning a Tesla is like can see first hand what it's like to live with one. I'm still very happy with my 2020 Model Y Performance, but man, those ventilated seats are making me think long and hard about the Juniper refresh...
24:32 Uggggh. Super hate this. Disabling factory reset is absolutely insane and should be illegal. We need a digital bill of rights, and we need it fast.
couldn't agree with you more, best value around. I'm in Canada and 2 weeks into my Highland. The Chinese models are very well made, not an issue upon delivery and look forward to getting behind the wheel everyday
Hey Dave, I used to drive a 3. For me VERY difficult to get in and out of compared to the Y. I would fall in and climb out. Just curious…As you are very tall, what size SHOEHORN do you use to get in/out of the 3? 😂😂😂
I think we all know Kathy will be trading her Y in for the new Macan EV (hence why they'll be driving it back up from Florida), and I'm pretty sure Dave will get the Lucid Gravity, but will he keep the M3 until then? With the Volt being sold as well, what will he drive when Kyle takes the new M3 rwd for testing?

The Tesla model 3 red is not only a commuter car..I have 2023 model 3 and iam currently driving it on a 4000 mile road trip for two weeks in the western USA/Canada.
You can still lease either Model Y or Model 3 and benefit from the $7500 tax credit… the way it works is Tesla takes the credit as the owner/lessor and they pass that along to the lessee by lowering the lease payments. Pretty good deal for those who don’t qualify for the tax credit
Dave, why didn’t you take delivery at Mogehan Sun delivery center? Didn’t you promote that place about 4 months ago? I would go out of my way to take delivery there mainly to stick-it to the Connecticut car dealers association.
Great video last month I traded in my 2021 Model 3 LR for a 2024 Model 3 LR and a tech came out and did the reset in the car with a weird color key card. Just an FYI
Thank you for your $40,000. Here’s your filthy car. We don’t wash it to save us time and money. It has the added benefit of hiding underlying cosmetic issues that we have no intention of addressing. Welcome to the Tesla family!
In regards to being unable to reset your Model X, that's due to Tesla not allowing you to wipe your car when it has an active FSD subscription. This can be either from the 30 day FSD trial, or if you pay monthly. I ran into the same issue with my new 2024 X where I had to erase it to troubleshoot a SiriusXM activation issue. My 2022 S was totaled, and SiriusXM wouldn't activate on the new X after delivery. I just had to wait for the 30 day FSD trial to expire, then I could erase it like normal.
Exactly as mine! Only difference mine is all made in China, not just the battery (I live in Europe) Being driving it for 6 month months now and definitely one of the best value cars you can buy.
I went to go Tesla drive the refresh model 3 back wheel drive, and it’s was niceeeeeee!!! So much better than model Y. It was white with the black rims 😍 amazing speakers and good pickup (not too crazy and not slow either). But my only thing I hated as a 5’11-6ft I’m just too tall for the leg space. Imagine getting the mini for the FL condo lol jk, i thought you were gonna get the new mini. That 100 mile car is crazyyy in 2024. the mini looks cute with the screen, I think Katie would like it (make a video ‘test drive the 2024 mini with my wife and I ’) just a video idea
Interesting, my brother just put in an order for a m3p w/ tax credit. I'm excited to see and drive it when he gets it. I can't believe the X is gone already.
Thanks for the delivery day info Dave and you saved me some time. We are the same size (6'5") and I'm returning my 2021 Leased Model Y that I got as a pace holder for the Cybertruck. Yesterday while prepping the Y for return the Factory Reset was grayed out like your X. I guess I'll just have to trust Tesla to clear that data out. Ironically, a month ago I found a screaming hot deal from Tesla on a 2018 Model X i Gray 6 seater with 49K miles and all options including Enhanced Autopilot for $39K (orig $145K). I spent $2K for FSD and so have a fully optioned Model X that fits me perfectly (I'm all legs). I just drove the X on a 600 mile mini road trip (FSD all the way) and this 6 year old car with original range of 295 showed 320 mile range on a full home charge to 100% . Not sure what that is about but I'll take it. 🙂. Like all used Teslas it came with a minimum 1yr/10K mile warranty from Tesla so I might just be keeping this one for a while.
Did they correct any of the maintenance issues (I.e. control arms, etc) from the past version? Trying to justify the extra few thousand from buying new vs a 2021 used
The delivery at MT Kisco is not so bad provide you find parking on the street. What was terrible was the ride back from NY through heavy highway traffic.
So what happens with cleaning out your personal data when you’re not selling/trading to Tesla? How would I get data cleared before giving it to another dealership or person?
if for any reason your rear wheeled vehicle gets towed will your transmission be ruined if the tow truck lifts it from the front and let the rear wheels roll?
I really want Tesla to bring back the Long Range RWD Model 3 back. Probably 350-360 miles of nameplate range and about 300 miles of real world range would be AMAZING!!!
Exactly one month ago we got the exact same Tesla. My wife and I are both 80 years old and traded a top end Prius Prime. Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks?😀
I wud have kept the prime
Dude, you should have waited for the M3P! 80 yr young guys need to have fun too.
Good Choice!! Congratulations!!!

I am crushed that you did not get the performance model three that was wanted to see real testing done on it. It looks so compelling.
Nice, I'mma pass on anything rear wheel but it looks great!
Best car so far out of all the teslas that I had, I got the ultra red RWD model and I can’t keep out of it.
Interesting, my brother just put in an order for a m3p w/ tax credit. I'm excited to see and drive it when he gets it. I can't believe the X is gone already.
Any thoughts on long range rear wheel drive only version that just got available. Sounds like a better deal than this.
Got the same car!!! So happy!! Congrats 🎊🎉🎈🍾
Great choice...hope that is not a real new deal with the factor reset...that will make non-Tesla transactions difficult to do cleanly.
Can’t wait for future videos. Love the car.
This is my exact choice too.
Just waiting to see if Tesla reduce prices further.
Dave, I picked up my 2024 Tesla 3 Performance; my first Model 3P (2019) was named Mister T. My new one: Mister T2. Plaidington 2 could work for you.
Did they correct any of the maintenance issues (I.e. control arms, etc) from the past version?
Trying to justify the extra few thousand from buying new vs a 2021 used
Just picked up my performance 3 yesterday!
How do you like it. How comfortable are the seats? I ordered 4/25, still no VIN
Congratulations on your new Model 3 RWD...Well done Big Guy!!! Happy Anniversity to you and Cathy ❤❤
Congratulations on the new car. I would love to be able to get a Tesla. But I am very upsidedown on my 2022 ID.4.
The delivery at MT Kisco is not so bad provide you find parking on the street. What was terrible was the ride back from NY through heavy highway traffic.
gz y got the BYD blade battery version. ur VIN 7th numer is an E.
picked up both my model 3 and model y from that location.
Really excited to see the RWD base one review from you! Just like I was to see a similar review from a year ago.
Should have left your order in for the performance for September delivery. Then drive it only on Mondays.
Nice car, Dave! Hope you enjoy it for the next 6 months or so that you have it! :D I have '24 LR, black on black, and I LOVE it!
I’m only Six Foot tall but I’m real comfortable in my model X with resting my arm on door.
I have a July-August delivery date for my Performance order. I had placed the order a few weeks ago....we'll see if that delivery date stays true
How come you did not take delivery in CT at the Mohegan Sun?
So what happens with cleaning out your personal data when you’re not selling/trading to Tesla? How would I get data cleared before giving it to another dealership or person?
Can’t wait to see Kathy’s new Porsche Mecan EV in a few months.
9:37 The EXACT moment Coleton cringed.
if for any reason your rear wheeled vehicle gets towed will your transmission be ruined if the tow truck lifts it from the front and let the rear wheels roll?
I really want Tesla to bring back the Long Range RWD Model 3 back. Probably 350-360 miles of nameplate range and about 300 miles of real world range would be AMAZING!!!
It’s back now
