Well Hello there, Commissioner here! It was an honor getting to make the MU of my dreams. I love both Hollow Knight and Ori so much, for anyone wondering; I'm not the person who put it into the 2D champions and if it shows in the tournament of Champions then it's completely coincidental since I don't know anyone who got it into said tournament. I see this Commission as a win-win, if we get into next season then I get to see my favorite series in Death Battle, if not... at least we have this Commission to keep us going. I hope you guys like it!

One of my friends kept pestering me to play Hollow Knight, and I didn’t really get it at first, but oh man is it incredible, one of the best games I’ve ever played. I’ve started playing the Ori games now too, and am loving Blind Forest a ton, so this has basically become my most wanted matchup outside of Bowser Vs Eggman
Quickly can you tell me who wins, I can’t find the fight on death battle, the only thing that pops up is the live chat about it, I’m trying to see who wins but I can’t FIND THE VIDEO
@@That-guy-27 you, do realize that this is a commision track right? They're commisioned to make a "what if" track since the episode does not exists yet, they're just to get a look at at what could be the track for the oficial episode.

The scene opens to a dark silent room seemingly Undisturbed for years, until a loud crack is heard. And pieces of a once unstoppable barrier fall in chunks to the ground. The scene pans up to see a dark ominous hallway with a illuminated figure stumbling down the path. The figure is revealed to be Ori, the guardian of niwen. Approaching a dark chamber. The moment they step foot inside a light barrier blocks the way out. They search for any sign of life inside until Sien appears to Ori’s aid and lights the way. Revealed in the darkness is a cloaked warrior insnared in chains. Looming above in the void. “There it is.” Sien announced. “The dark presence, plaguing this bizarre kingdom.” In a flash of light the chains were shattered leaving the cloaked ghost clumsily falling to the ground. It’s old stiff legs barley able to stand itself up on its own two feet. “Now… extinguish it!” Sien commanded as ori drew their soul edge blade. The dark figure now revealed to be the hollow knight. Looks Ori in the eyes with an orange radiant glow in its soul. Knowing what it has to do, the knight plucks it’s decades old nail from the ground and dash slashes towards ori, and they lock blades as spiritless vessel from Therewolf media begins in the background. THANK YOU for making such an amazing track with so many little references in leitmotifs and instrumental cues. Here hoping that this will be an actual episode soon. And the amount of love it’s gotten on the show in other forms such as cast episodes and tournament entries, I’m starting to think this might actually happen.

You are running away from a cataclysmic event when you reach a clearing in the forest and see two spirits, one of light and one of darkness. Their eyes are closed and you infer that they are communicating telepathically. After a while, they stare into each other's eyes as if reading souls. The spirit of darkness takes a defensive stance while the spirit of light takes several long, deep, and concentrated breaths. They then engage each other in battle, power against power, wit against wit, skill against skill, strength against strength, will against will, light against darkness. You watch this colorful duel of fates as they clash against each other, dodging each other's magic attacks and sword thrusts. Forgetting about your problems, you watch on. During this battle, the spirit of light's magic attack misses its target and strikes you, killing you slowly, and as painfully as if you were burning in the light's presence. You prepare yourself to face judgment with the few dying breaths you have left, and as your spirit and body part, you wonder which of those two spirits will prevail. OHHHHHH YES!!!! IT’S THIS MATCHUP!!!! I may not have tangible experience when it comes to this series (Played as Ori in Rivals of Aether and played only one session of Hollow Knight), BUT I CAN ASSURE YOU, THIS WILL BE HYPE!!! I CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS MU!!
Yeah you need to actually sit down and play all three games you won’t regret it. Especially hollow knight, best video game of all time material right there.
This is by far my most wanted matchup, and you really knocked it out of the park with this track! I believe it perfectly captures the general tone of both games, and I really love it.
If you don’t mind the novel, I think the best climax option would be for the fight to take place in the dream realm represented by niwen where the knight has evolved into the shade and then under pressure, the shade lord. He knocks ori onto a hillside in the distance and begins to take over the realm just like in the godhome ending. With void and blackness poring from the sky and turning the forest into darkness. Ori cant muster the strength to stand and gives up after seeing a void flood approach. But looks at his home one last time to see one of those blue memory things from blind forest appear, showing ori and ku flying off together for the first time right before his home gets swallowed. And a feather from ku’s memory falls onto the ground infront of him. With the power of friendship ori gains the strength to fight for what he holds dear and bashes into the air at full speed. The shade lord is surprised by this and fires a shade soul which ori bashes, giving him even more speed. He clenches his fist for the final clash as they both collide. A faint spark flickers in the endless void of the shade lord before going out. ( assuming ori wins ) the ligh would quickly pick back up and glow brighter and brighter before the shade lords head explodes. With light. The knight’s broken skull falls to the ground and ori falls soon after. The void blackening the sky clears and the land has been restored. Ori sees ku’s feather fall nearby and begins to walk towards it before falling in his knees. His can’t stand anymore and begins to crawl towards the feather losing strength by the second. He sticks out his hand to reach for the feather one last time but the light in his eyes go out and he falls dead. Ori wins… but neither live to tell the tale… A somber yet fitting end…
Heck yes now this is a matchup I would love to see, but for now I'll settle for hearing an awesome track and let my mind fill in the blanks for how the fight would go.
Another melodious hit. I love how it makes references to some of the tracks from the two combatants respective games. If this battle were to ever happen, I hope it would be that season's hand-drawn episode.
Ori vs the Knight is one of my favorite matchups in DB's 2D Champions poll and I still hope that they will come to finally do it in 2025. I am no Champions member as I don't live in the US but I would have voted for Bill Cipher vs Discord above all any other matchups in 2D Champions Poll (3D would obviously be Colex), it is a legacy 2015 matchup by AnimationRewind that deserves justice. Even then I'm still itching for this matchup to happen someday as this matchup would be the most amazing DB matchup ever when it comes to aesthetics. And it would be a good package for when Hollow Knight Silksong finally comes.
Absolutely incredible. The way you used the motifs here is fantastic. Really hope the dream comes true and this becomes an official episode someday. Up in the air whether that or Silksong comes out first to be honest.
Ah, Ori VS The Knight. Not Only a great matchup but one that I wonder why it hasn't been made even if it did get nominated for last year's Champions' poll. Seeing be done as a commission track does make it seem worth it however due to the sheer musical potential of the matchup. And boy did that potential get exploited well here. But before that a slight "warning" tho, I must say that I'm really not familiar with Ori's OST and that I don't know *too* much of Hollow Knight's aside from the boss fight themes so if I miss stuff or get something wrong, my apologies. Now that this is done, as I was saying this track does a wonderful job at exploiting the musical potential that the matchup had. Even as someone that isn't the most familiar with HK OST and barely knows Ori OST, I can still distinctly notice the mix of both OSTs (given, it's helped a lot by how much HK's OST stands out) with the more "raw" and intense bits especially fitting the Knight while the more orchestral and fluid segments fit Ori much more in a great mix and dynamic throughout the song. In fact, I think that it's done so well that I'll go over it somewhat chronologically. We start with a very "holy" and melodic-sounding segment that mostly fits Ori which hints at the setup being the Knight invading onto Ori's forest to engage in a battle which fits as Ori isn't nearly as willing to outright fight as the Knight from what I know. This is then supported by the true start of the track at 0:20 that, as said earlier, makes great use of Hollow Knight OST by taking the Decisive Battle track and putting a twist on it to make it sound unique and more orchestral, truly making it feel like a crossover where Ori would be a boss fight in HK. Then, with one of the best transitions in I think any track at 0:38, we get a shift towards Ori's side of things with something much melodic and orchestral (altho still punctuated by percussions to showcase the intensity of the battle and how the Knight is still in the fight). Not only is it a really nice-sounding segment but it also helps the track "story-wise" by signaling an advantage for Ori as the battle progresses which makes sense as, from what I remember of watching videos of Ori and the Blind Forest, there is a big emphasize on being reactive to what the enemies and environments do to use to your advantage, so Ori being the reactive one and the Knight being proactive make full sense in a great way. After this nice segment we then get a more "united" segment starting at 1:04 where both styles mix in which is simply natural to have after both characters got their "solo" segment. Really like the mixing of the more orchestral bits and more impactful bits. Also, don't think I didn't hear that Sealed Vessel motif in there. It's quite the recuring theme in the track too, I can't speak for Ori's side but the track has a lot of small segments of various HK boss fight themes such as, as said before, Decisive Battle, here Sealed Vessel and later Grimm's theme which I'll come back too. At first I thought those were simple references and I do think I take *a bit* of an issue with one of them (again, more on that later) but in a way it makes sense as the whole point of the Knight is that it starts out as "hollow" and slowly builds up its being by reacting to the characters it interacts with. So hearing themes from other bosses there is a great way to represent the Knight showcasing abilities it learned from enemies it fought before. The following segment (or, well, technically it's in the same arc of the track but I want to note it) then is a reprise of both of the original "solo" segments. The first part still has the Knight's segment be the same so there's not much to note here but something impressive to note is Ori's segment at 1:33 which has the same melody but played with the Knight's soundfont. And to me that can mean two things which in my opinion complete one another perfectly. The first one is that it hints at the Knight now having learned Ori's abilities and patterns and making use of them to try and get an advantage which explains why the track uses the same motif but with a different soundfont. The second is the total opposite; hinting at the fact that Ori learned the Knight's moves and strategies to take the edge which is why its motif now uses the Knight's soundfont. As mentioned above, both interpretations combine perfectly to fit wonderfully the characters and their notable traits of adapting to their surroundings and enemies to their advantages and all that without feeling like one of them has the advantage. A perfect use of characterization in the track there. Following this is we then get an encore of the dual segment using the Sealed Vessel motif which is the exact same at first but, unlike the first time around, this time we get a crescendo starting at 2:11 where the motif plays again but with more intensity to play in the transition at 2:20 into a much calmer segment that I think uses another HK motif altho I'm not sure which, only this time it's a full break in the song to lead into the climax of the track. There's not much to say on that segment other than the fact that it does a nice job at building the tension up for the end of the track and the addition of an HK motif that also doubles as nicely fitting Ori to complement it is appreciable. And finally we get the climax of the track starting at 3:10 which takes a fully different tone with a much more violent and agressive ending that fully focuses on the Hollow Knight side of things, even heavily referencing Grimm's theme for it. And that's the only segment I'm somewhat mixed on. On one hand it sound great for sure in a vacuum. But on the other hand I'm not sure it really fits. For a matchup like that I certainly saw the more intense ending to be an option, yes, but for it to sound almost only like an Hollow Knight track *and* one that has little relation to the Knight itself feels very disjointed from the rest of the track that perfectly mixes both characters and their background to the point where it removes a bit from it. Now don't get me wrong, as said above it still sounds great. Just feels weird that this was chosen for the ending instead of something more fitting and, honestly, probably better-sounding like the rest of the track is. Either way, a single sour note does not ruin an excellent song so it's a relatively minor issue. Overall this track is a really freaking good one for sure. Aside from its ending that doesn't really fit- but still sounds great- it perfectly represents the characters and showcases a great dynamic that sounds grandiose via mixing both OST styles and dropping in some relatively subtle but still significant musical references that heavily add to the track both in quality and in depth. It's a great song for a great matchup. Amazing work with this as always.
At 3:10, someone mentioned that the Shade Lord could come out, and if so, I imagine Ori having a "Oh s***" moment and is frantically running away and attacking the Shade Lord. It also wouldn't be out of character for Ori to run away, considering how some bosses in Will of the Whisps involved Ori having to run from them.
@@Annihilate0405 I did consider that option, yes. However I didn’t mention it both because I forgot to (dumb me) and because I do think the use of Grimm’s theme or something like it to represent that feels a bit weird so still not sure it’s the best representation of that. However it would most definitely be an explanation for why the climax focuses solely on the HK-side of things, yes.
Wow, you really took your time with this huh? Also huge HK fan here, just felt like pointing two small things out. 1.- The first leitmotif that you mentioned while it could be inpired by Decisive Battle, it's moreso inpired by the False Knight theme given the intruments and beats used. 2.- The more calm section towards the end is most likely the leitmotif of Greenpath combined with a few Ori instruments. Just wanted to point that out, again, I adore Hollow Knight, have a great day! Ciao!
Nice job Aaron😁👍 I can’t wait to hear the death battle version of Gojo vs Makimas track that you do😁 also I like the Judgement shine down vibes from this track😊👍
Well, that makes 3 out of the 12 matchups from the season 10 poll with a commission track Captain America VS Kamen Rider Ichigo Fall Guys VS Among Us Kyle Rayner VS Simon the Digger *Will of the Drill* Finn & Jake VS Mordecai & Rigby Ori VS The Knight *Spiritless Vessel* Bill Cipher VS Discord *Deciphering Discord* (Discordant Decipher) Cole MacGrath VS Alex Mercer ([inHuman]) Kratos VS Asura Steve VS Emmet King Ghidorah VS Deathwing Illidan VS Xion Spy VS Agent 47
Only 8 more to go (not counting Cole vs Alex, which got an official track). By the way, I have a feeling Cap vs Ichigo and Ghidorah vs Deathwing are going to happen next year, mainly because they both have movies to promote (Brave New World and The New Empire respectively). If not, then we'll probably get matchups with Falcon and King Kong instead.
Much as Ori's getting cooked here, I gotta give this some major love! This track just- *Understands* both sides, mixes their musical motifs to near perfection, and then GRIMM'S THEME JUST SHOWS UP GOD *DAMN*- Yeeep, outcome was never really in doubt. But neither was this track's status- it's up there with A World with No Kings! BANGER!
Personally I think our boy Ori has the advantage here. Their *extreme* mobility means it’s rare for the knight to even get close to them or get any real hits on them. I could see the whole ‘unleashing the darkness’ being a problem, but Ori has escaped plenty of ‘death walls’ before. How do you think the knight would win? I honestly don’t have in-depth knowledge of Hollow-Knight so we need to compare their skill sets to determine who would win.
@@yeedog6145 Ori does have better mobility but it's not as big of an advantage as people make it out to be especially when The Knight has faced people like Sly, Grimm, SOB, Soul Tyrant, etc. Not to mention the moment The Knight goes into Ori's mind its game over for Ori and they don't even need the dream nail to have that happen.
@@ianjohns5701Not to mention dodging the Radiance's attacks. While it's hard to judge if her beams or energy balls are going light speed or not, still dodging them is no easy feat, especially if point blank, I'd wager those feats would be enough to dodge or parry anything coming the little ghosts way.
@@ianjohns5701 I meant more that Ori's move-set namely launch, burrow, dash, swim dash, and grapple. Means that if the area they fight in isn't just a moderately large box; Ori will outpace the Knight and be able to stay out of the Knight's deadly yet short range. In addition flash and sentry will be insufferable for the knight to deal with, as those attacks are unavoidable when in their radius. Which given that the knight relies on set hit-points for health instead of overall-damage means that every-time the Knight got close they would be forced to lose at-least one. To be fair the Knight's charms are generally stronger than Ori's spirit shards, and could provide a big advantage if they manage to keep up. Overall I believe this will be a battle of endurance between the two, and will likely only end if one moves into a disadvantageous environment.
@@yeedog6145Skill and Endurance should be in The Knight's favor given that they beat all 3 trials of the Colosseum of Fools which had The Knight fight waves of skilled warriors with varying types of opponents fighting them all at once and they were able to solo both of the mantis tribes and their leaders with a nearly broken nail and on top of that they were trained by the 3 Nailmasters Oro, Mato, Sheo and are able to beat them in combat and defeat their master Nail Sage Sly.
This is my most wanted matchup, and I recently decided to replay ori and will of the wisps and played ori and the blind forest for the first time. I don't remember why I played the second game first I just did, Will of the wisps is my favorite out of the two but the first game is pretty good. But I also will say this I haven't finished hollow knight I got really close to finishing it but I just stopped don't know why, I don't hate it but I don't love it I just think it's good, so I'll probably get around to playing it again. This is my most wanted matchup because I love the idea of it, but I do wanna finish hollow knight before this happens to be a deathbattle episode someday

It's quite good, I like it. But... maybe I'm not hearing something, but in what way does it sound like the Ori soundtrack? I mean, really, I may be wrong, please tell me. All I'm hearing is what sounds like some warped version of Ku's leitmotif around the beginning, and that's it. The rest is just Hollow Knight music the whole way. At most it's something like Hollow Knight x Ark Survival Evolved (consider tracks like Not So Plain and Simple, and Good (and Bad) Things Come in Trees - by Ori's composer, with some Ori-like instrumentation, clearly not Ori).

I did consider that option, yes.
Ciao!
AAAAAAAAAA! THIS SOUNDS SO GOOD! I LOVE IT.
Nice job Aaron😁👍 I can’t wait to hear the death battle version of Gojo vs Makimas track that you do😁 also I like the Judgement shine down vibes from this track😊👍
Hallow Knoght and Ori and the will of the wisps are my favorite video games
Well, that makes 3 out of the 12 matchups from the season 10 poll with a commission track
Captain America VS Kamen Rider Ichigo
Fall Guys VS Among Us
Kyle Rayner VS Simon the Digger *Will of the Drill*
Finn & Jake VS Mordecai & Rigby
Ori VS The Knight *Spiritless Vessel*
Bill Cipher VS Discord *Deciphering Discord* (Discordant Decipher)
Cole MacGrath VS Alex Mercer ([inHuman])
Kratos VS Asura
Steve VS Emmet
King Ghidorah VS Deathwing
Illidan VS Xion
Spy VS Agent 47
Only 8 more to go (not counting Cole vs Alex, which got an official track). By the way, I have a feeling Cap vs Ichigo and Ghidorah vs Deathwing are going to happen next year, mainly because they both have movies to promote (Brave New World and The New Empire respectively). If not, then we'll probably get matchups with Falcon and King Kong instead.
This goes so hard
IM SO GLAD THIS IS ON SPOTIFY ITS SO GOOD
Much as Ori's getting cooked here, I gotta give this some major love! This track just- *Understands* both sides, mixes their musical motifs to near perfection, and then GRIMM'S THEME JUST SHOWS UP GOD *DAMN*-
Yeeep, outcome was never really in doubt.
Yooo its this matchup! I'm hyped for this one, also I somehow guessed this one right in the discord lol
This was a pleasant track I've enjoyed it and now I go prepare myself for Thursday and I'll see y'all then😉
Sick
This is alright but what if ori fought the shadow king from marvel comics?
THE FIGHT PLZ
Hollow Knight references (IDK Ori):
False Knight
Sealed Vessel
Nightmare King Grimm
Greenpath
For ori I think it was just the main title theme and kinda ku’s theme which is pretty much just the main theme but slightly different.
This track is exquisitely impressive

(I'm sorry Idk Ori and I barely know Hollow Knight. But I don't think these two can Talk lol)
Ahh I see Thanks fir telling me
Popping in to say that Ori does actually have a voice, at one point in Will of the Wisps, they call out Ku's name.
