A cool moment I can see is having Amaterasu use a celestial brush technique, with the typical freeze-frame from the actual game, but then Arceus would just turn his head towards the camera and remark "Interesting...". (Then Issun would flip the frick out, lol)
Would be super cool and show this fight as a true battle between cosmic powers.
I feel that'd be for the ending bit of the Fight, with both going all out
I imagine that Arceus would say something to the effect of ‘Thou be to languid. Do not look down upon the god of all Goddess of the Sun, lest I bestow Volcarona a free position within our pantheon.’
(I chose ‘languid’, because it’s probably the most polite way to say that the characters talk slower than a narcoleptic slug.
Love the art using Okami's style. As for the track itself it's very mystical with a sense of gravitas. Fitting for a battle between gods.
I never even considered Arceus having a serious matchup but this is DIVINE
I love how you mixed the Art and music styles of Okami and Pokemon Arceus so seemlessly and i never noticed how similar the two are. Just a radiant soundtrack

Arceus has had trouble having good matchups, but Amaterasu and Aslan are very good picks.

Not too familiar with Amaterasu, but I really do love this track. Thematically, it feels like the match-up makes perfect sense. Not too sure about power-scaling, especially since Legends:Arceus implies that the Arceus we're familiar with is actually just an avatar for a greater entity, but that's neither here nor there. Track slaps, so :)

EDIT: Just listened; surprising to absolutely no one, it sounded amazing. Never thought Pokémon battle music would sound so epic when played by Asian instruments but hot DAMN that went hard. The transition to guitar was smooth as well; in other tracks I would’ve thought it’d sound a bit out of place, but i honestly think that might’ve been my favourite part this whole track.
Easily one of Aaron’s best tracks thus far. So excited for what he’s cooking up next
EDIT 2: Got my Asian cultures mixed up; originally called it Chinese-sounded despite Okami being based on Japanese folklore. My bad 😖the beginning of the song giving a "Dragons and Dumplings" and "Hero's Journey" vibe threw me off
Seeing ōkami here makes me so happy the game was so amazing and legends Arceus was amazing wish we had ōkami 2

Amaterasu ending (I know Arceus stomps, but it's a what if): Kills Arceus with her most powerful technique, only for another Arceus to appear and tell her that she defeated his avatar, healing Amaterasu and giving her the win. (Again, IDK Arceus, so IDK if Arceus would actually do that, and the only way Amaterasu could possibly win is if Arceus lets her win after she destroys his avatar, although she realistically gets stomped)

Thanks again for this Therewolf! I knew you’d like a Pokémon matchup and I was pleasantly surprised with the direction you ended up taking this in, it fits super well!
Ah bummer, I totally missed the première of that one because I thought it'd be at 21:00 like the other ones. Oh well, I can still listen to the song. A song that I'll admit I was actually quite hyped about given I heard about it before I saw the première and even speculated about its cover art which now that I see the end result I could probably make a whole review on the art by itself due to how good it is (IE: the arceus motifs around the sun which make it look like an eye to represent how Arceus' true form is basically omniscient and all-seing.)
As for the song itself, it's quite interesting for sure and pretty much everything I'd have wanted from the matchup. It fits perfectly the "deity" side of the matchup with a lot of calm and/or majestic segments but also has that distinct Pokémon feel with more intense segments.
Another thing to note is that this song is one of those songs that is really good at telling a story and that's something I quite like. The way it begins with Japanese instruments that perfectly fit Okami as I imagine the fight would open on Amaterasu living her best life in a calm and serein painting-like scenery before it's suddenly interrupted at 0:29 as Arceus would drop into the scene Fate-style saying stuff along the lines of "being the one true deity" or just wanting to challenge another deity.
Of course the face-off between the two would culminate at 0:47 when the fight truly engages in a Pokémon-style bout but where the instruments are notably the Okami-centered ones with only the modern-sounding synth being heard in the background to represent Arceus. I think that's quite a nice representation to get across that by that point, Amaterasu is playing on her home field and has a clear advantage with Arceus only testing the waters to see what its opponent is capable of.
After this, just as the song picks up in intensity we get a break in the song at 1:18 as we're back in another face-off segment where I imagine Arceus would mention its opponents' abilities before resuming heir bout at 1:32.
Except that there we can definitely hear the song gaining in intensity as the two would gradually start fighting more seriously with the violin picking up in energy before the song breaks once again at 2:02 altho this time not for another face-off but a build up of energy as the two characters would reveal more of their true power and start fighting on an actual god-like scale at 2:18, the song gaining a much more holy and grand feeling to it but still keeping a relatively low intensity as of course the two are extremely wise and benevolent characters so they try as hard as they can to show their power in an orderly and wise way.
This, however, does change at 3:05 when the two would realize that only releasing their full power would grant one of them the win, resulting in both Amaterasu and Arceus unleashing much more potent powers that may even reach cosmic scales. The way the song gains a lot of intensity with the electric guitar and percussions represents that really well to me. Altho I quite like that the violin still comes back into the song shortly after the beginning of this segment as, even while unleashing such massive amounts of power, the two of them are still their universes' respective deities and still strive for good so the violin makes a nice "balancing" force to the power brought by the percussions and guitar.
And even more interesting is the ending after the climax at 3:44 which is very sudden and calm, something that I hadn't expected from this matchup, at least for the sudden side of it. It feels like the ending of the fight would be extremely abrupt, like one of the characters striking one singular blow that'd completely erase their opponent (which I guess would fit given that, let's be real here, Arceus would literally just delete Amaterasu) . But this is again counterbalanced by the very calm ending to the song that makes me think the ending would be the winner looking upon a calm and "reset" universe after their fight had reached such a grand scale that it possibly damaged reality itself.
Overall this track is almost all that I expected it to be and that is quite appreciable. It covers both characters and franchises really well in addition to having a really unique personality to it and of course just being very pleasing to the ear. The progression of the song is extremely smooth and manages wonderfully tell a story with its segments which makes it all the more appreciable. I was quite hyped for that track and definitely did not end up disappointed. Amazing work as always with this.
Here I was playing Okami on the Switch over the weekend, one hell of an awesome surprise. Awesome work blending the musical styles of Okami and Pokémon! I love the progression to truly divine heights as it goes on!
Arceus is casually multiversal plus has comic book superheroes levels of HAX.
Amaterasu's best chance is pray that Arceus is a forgiving God and lets her live.

The first part of this track kinda reminds me of Sun Wukong vs Heracles, which is good because I absolutely love that episode.
