    Claire, your so clear, concise and well spoken. I'd liken Your ability to smoothly speak and present clear points to some of the best professors out there. Your broad awareness is what I wish I could find in even one other person I know. Most people 35 an over are still vastly unaware of the underlying MSM/political elite agendas of either side attempting to keep us distracted with shallow indentity issues while any shred of actual democracy is hijacked.
    About your Subs; intelligence appreciates and values other highly aware, yet empathetic, individuals. Lord knows were in the human minority.

    I suspect the rise in anxiety disorders is linked to this kind of thing. If you are unable to fail or make a social faux pas, you rigidify. Even when nobody else is physically around. Like an internal panopticon looking for "problematic" behaviour. No segue additional points: people assuming that merely referencing something "problematic" to be an endorsement is weird. People of a certain immutable characteristic only being able to create characters of the same immutable characteristic is exceptionally postmodern (self referentiality and focus on "power structures) and narcissistic. "They're not the same colour/sex as me - how can I possibly relate???" CORNY
    Structure for this one was great. Agree agree agree, etc etc etc

    The fact that a lot of social media ladies including outside of that think that men cannot write women in the there books just because small minority group of men wrote female characters terribly, honestly is so shocking and headaching to me, like hell I read Coraline and you have books like lord of the rings and hobbit and many other books that were written by men where female characters were portrayed human.

    As a child growing up during a time when "over the air" television was still a thing, I can't say that I disagree with the idea of censorship when it comes to a general audience. For example, I highly doubt anyone wants their family time spoiled by strong profanity and gratuitous erotic activity while the kids are there. So, while I hate censorship as a principle, for network television and radio there wasn't a real way to filter it to any particular intended audience outside of paid cable networks. Now we have ways of setting up those filters on places like UA-cam and Netflix etcetera, by creating a "kids" account and in this way more control is placed in the hands of the parent or guardian to monitor the entertainment.
    Having said that, I also understand that when it comes to those forms of oversight, things invariably go haywire. There was never any right way to do it that would make everyone happy. As long as there is society, there will be controversy. Every decade we replace one form of sensitivity for another, and what may have been a death knell for an artist in 1960 is embraced and loved in 1980. The verbiage of the 1990s is now offensive in the 2020s and so on. And it's ultimately the artists that suffer for it.

    To what degree should Art have freedom on? Should everything not be censored. Idk maybe because I'm young or have been on twitter too much, but some things on there shouldn't be on the internet like recording actual people get murdered in a weird artistic way or child pron or loli hentai, to be honest I don't know if they shouldn't or should be censored, or where we draw the line on what we consider Art based on legality, morality, or just freedom of expression or all 3 of them at once, but if that's the case where is the crossroad between all of these or maybe I'm just strawmanning your argument idk

    • @ClaireCraig
      @ClaireCraig  2 роки тому +3

      Nah you're good. I don't think the things you stated should be online (and its illegal to do so even within free speech law--the first amendment makes explicit exception to CP for example). Drawing the line on what constitutes "art" is difficult because everyone has different definitions. But if someone is being harmed (not just a representation of harm, for instance in a violent movie) that should be a crime and I think the footage should be removed. But in terms of violent movies, edgy jokes, etc, I think those should exist because they aren't causing or exploiting physical harm to actual people

      @@fittlea8248 free speech is free speech. If you start saying we're gonna ban "propaganda" that is a very slippery slope because who gets to decide what's propaganda and what's not? The government? They have a terrible track record for not only lying but spreading propaganda themselves. Listen to the way Biden talked about Republicans in his recent speech, any talk about Donald Trump right now whether you like him or not would probably end up being called propaganda. Heck we saw the Hunter Biden laptop story get called propaganda and banned on social media when we now know for a fact it wasn't, something that could have altered the outcome of the presidential election and potentially altered the course of the entire country.

    Picture: an aspiring sensitivity reader picks up The Cold Six Thousand by James Ellroy. All she’s been told is that it’s some sort of historical fiction that deals with MLK. She wants to be a good ally. Maybe by revisiting sensitive content by a white writer from the early 2000s, she can catch one or two examples of where the author could “do better.”

    I can't read western webcomics or stories because I will always encounter woke stuff and I'm not American, I also stop watching new movies and tv series. Right now I'm sticking with eastern media but it's starting to get woke because of some author. The worst thing is the ignorant western audiences seeing eastern stories that have a dark theme or show the toxic relationship between same-sex. They would go harass authors or bash the story because it doesn't show a good representation of the community.

But I am a black woman and my manin character is a white woman and I love my main character her story is amazing but as a black woman wriing about a Cacausian woman that's rich and that has blonde hair I know that I will need a Caucasian woman or guy to look over my work because how I supposed to describe her skin tone? And the fact that she's rich and I'm not I know nothing about rich people.

    Can you start posting your content to Rumble, Claire? I've tired of the censorship. I'm always concerned people I follow here will just get cancelled and have their channels taken down. It's not the right platform (going forwards) for your choice of material, and I always wonder what you would really say if you didn't self-censor. And my earlier comments didn't even make it through the YT bot/filter. I'm so tired of UA-cam.

    • @ClaireCraig
      @ClaireCraig  2 роки тому

      Ugh, yeah YT has a huge problem with deleting comments. It's upsetting on my end too because I don't want people to think I'm removing them. I tried syncing my channel with Odysee but ran into technical difficulties. I've considered Rumble too, but due to the traffic youtube gets I feel its best for building an audience at the beginning stages. I will look into it more though for sure. So far I don't think I've said anything that will get me removed here, but I certainly held back thoughts on the c*vid response since that seems to be what has been getting people the most. Otherwise I haven't held back other than censoring swear words.

      @@ClaireCraig We've found ourselves in a stunning place. Sensitivity readers! I had never heard of them. I'm shook. Can you talk about Intimacy Coordinators(!!) on movie sets? It's like people are so damned sensitive, they exist without skin. What is happening? We'll never see anything as personal as the Kelly McGillis bathing scene in Witness ever again in a mainstream movie but then it was 1985, and I loathe to go there once again, backwards-looking. In hip-hop as it was when I was coming up, futurism was built into the methodology. We *hated* repetition the same way Miles Davis and Prince never did the same thing twice. Everything was new, all the time. It was all sonic and creative evolution at lightning speed. It's why I despised indie/ Britpop bands of the 1990s: they were the first to start mining the past (Elastica and notoriously, Oasis slavishly ripping-off the Beatles) and we were horrified. It never happened in music before that point, and rap was bemused. So I resent it, but what can I do? We've gone volte-face from the freewheeling expression of Last Tango In Paris.

    • @ClaireCraig
      @ClaireCraig  2 роки тому

      Woah, I had never heard of intimacy coordinators before! That's the perfect example of how Hollywood reacts to controversy. The public is outraged by Harvey Weinstein, so they performatively make movie sets "safe", as if thats where people were getting hurt. Everything's become so different. There really needs to be more creativity from the ground-up, which is why I'm always concerned about how the culture is stifling people.

  • @razordad7546

    Personally Im not a fan of "woke hollywood", cause it's too easy to brush away a piece of media without addressing the media on its own grounds. It, feels like its just buzzword jargon that gets in the way of fleshed out disscusion. But, the way you addressed how people can't give credit to media and just let actors play gay characters or mental disorders, writers write characters who aren't them, or voice actors who can't voice characters. Then, its jus creating shallow representations of flawed people, just so dicks on Redit, Twitter and UA-cam. Aren't making better media, along with ecsapist media not being allowed anymore. Without it addressing current day issues. That's bullshit!

    I don't know about YA or sensitive readers per say, BUT I know that the comic world becomes all about the "woke business model"; where every super hero have to be LGBTQ member and/or gender and race swapped! And what annoys me the most is that this "business model" lack the creativity to create new genuine "woke/progressive" characters! It's literally makes the quote: "go woke, go broke" true, because they care for the loudest annoying mobs and ignore the silent majority! Just look at the recent ring of power and especially little mermaid remake, they say it's all about representation; while I see it as tokenism and laziness, not mentioning disrespecting to the white and black equally; as if Africa don't have its own mermaids, or worth creating authentic stories! But why to do it when you can make free advertisements from the "controversy"!
    Back to comic (and sadly children's books), it's now in almost EVERY publishing website: that you're required to be POC or LGBT member to be employed; hence why a lot of artists fake being Bisexual, even when they are already married and never dated from their own gender before! It's ridiculous!!
    And if someone started a crowdfunding campaign to liberate themselves from the "woke publishers", the mobs come after their business; most notably the RIPPAVERSE comics, which is ironically a black-owned business! But I guess all the empowerment nonsense works only if you're one of them!
    Keep it up Claire! You're doing great! 💪🏻👸🏻

    • @ClaireCraig

      Thanks! Yeah, they've been introducing diversity mandates for things like the golden globes and the oscars as well, where they literally break down into percentages what proportion of the staff needs to be female, or ethnic minority, etc. I think the whole thing will result in a huge backlash and our society will probably be even more racist because of it, because now there is resentment over "token hires" and minorities are pigeonholed into only writing about certain experiences and issues in order to fit with the current politics. So basically, its killing creativity and its causing workers and artists to resent each other for uncontrollable factors
