Always makes me laugh when struggling business owners think they know better than the experts and their customers. It's good that most of them come to their senses in the end.
I love at the start they say how much fun they had...then they had children. What did they think was going to happen. Pair of woke twits. And I really want to eat from a kitchen with his facial hair and her nasty nails
They sold it in September 2021, (the lethal Corona virus no doubt shutting down the global restaurant/pub trade was the reason why, especially with most office staff working from home.) Apparently they have a very successful outdoor 'events bar' business, and no doubt much happier not to be trapped in a pub 24/7. The new 'corporate' owners closed the place, due to scathing reviews.
when the screen went black at the end and showed a picture of yvan i thought it was gonna say he had died and i about had a heart attack. lmao, hope they are both doing well
Mixed salad with roasted sweet potatoes and other options. Small quiches. Baked potatoes. Home made soup. Nice cakes. That's all that's needed for lunchtime menu.
That grey colour on the outside looks drab to me. It was trendy for a while to have a metallic look (grey cars, stainless steel kitchen surfaces, matt grey front doors and so on) but now it's just dull. Where is the joy, the cute appeal of an independent, buzzy place? I'd get a paint brush and a trip to Wickes.
Faye burst into tears when at the suggestion of salads in a lunch time menu - its not that difficult to come up with a variety of salads surely? If my family can do it then a restaurant owner should have no problems
I think what hurt Fay more was the fact she had been told their original idea for a lunch menu wasn't any good ie too heavy etc, as she pointed out she's been doing lunches etc for a long time, but didn't like to admit it wasn't working and didn't really have a clue of what to change it to, thats why she got very defensive and hung up the phone. She gave me the impression she didn't like being told what to do from the beginning.
@@Juls27989 I’ll bet she gives the wait staff chores and if they aren’t done, is displeased. So wait staff learned over time that finishing chores is top priority over customers.

Helping means taking a person outside of their comfort zone by asking them to stretch themselves instead of by simply doing things for them Oliver did help 100% and if they are honest they do know that he helped them to change direction. I also think that Oliver helped them to find and develop problem solving skills that they never had or were not utilising fully. Teach a man to fish instead of handing them juicy grilled fish.

So did a whole bunch of others during the pandemic and not just restaurants. They were all forced to do so. Unfortunate. But maybe they can find more time for their family life.
Here in America the restaurants catering to the local business lunch crowd offer a soup and salad bar with drink. One can walk stright in and fix their own plate. This can be done in less then 17 minutes. You can also pay while eating, then when finished you can get up and walk out without standing in line at register. Great for those who have only 30 mins or hour

A 2 minute entro every time is far too long. I'd rather see one and a half minutes more of the subject. I was quite annoyed with Oliver asking them to change the menu without any guidelines; it was very frustrating to view that and she was entitled to be very upset. It may surprise you to know that in some countries, a gentleman walks on the inside near the wall because that way he could more easily get access to his sword (which would be on his left side, easily accessible to his right hand) and not risk accidentally striking the woman when he drew his sword to protect her from attack. Mind you, that left her exposed to mud splattered by passing carriages as well as to runaway horses and cut-purses, but at least there's a logic to the man standing by the wall. But that assumes that all men are sword-carrying gentlemen. Maybe it's just the lower orders who escorted women by walking on the street side, and sword-carrying noblemen who kept themselves near the wall.
@@ClaireBeatty I was wrong; it isn't against the law, but businesses in the US do not like it. If you do this, you better get permission from the business. This is why we have reception rooms and waiting rooms. You have to ask to speak to someone and if they aren't available or don't want to talk to you, you are asked to leave. Many businesses have "buzzer locks" where you have to be let in by electronic lock. Now, it depends on the type of business and the local culture; in a small town you could do as they did fairly freely, but not in a big city (too much crime).
@@virginiamoss7045 I think all that was done behind the scenes. The film crew would have had prior permission to allow them set up their cameras and "stage" the office worker's etc. There is no way any where in the world that would allow Alex and her camera crew to simply walk in from the blue without prior permission and memorandum of understanding.
No I disagree with you on this . She asked him a simple question and he was rude and Condescending to her ... she wasn't perfect by any means. But he's a Di.k
Nice place but use a simple white plate. Gentlemans beard should be covered somehow, very off-putting and hides the face and his wife had long hair NOT tied back. Unhygienic!
@@FigaroHey Odd that men protect women from other men...
I found it cringey when she went round the offices. Get your digital and social media marketing on point instead 😬
Yeah, in the US you can't just walk in to where people are working and start talking selling something.
@@virginiamoss7045The rest of the world doesn’t operate exactly like the USA. This is England!
@@mangoyacho Makes sense.
When I go into a restaurant, I would not want Osama Bin Laden waiting on me 🤮
Not appropriate for a food establishment !!!!
Anyone else find that Peyton guy completely unhelpful?
These two luvvies need to get a grip…..phones Oliver to ask for advice then hangs up on him…..no sympathy
No I disagree with you on this . She asked him a simple question and he was rude and Condescending to her ... she wasn't perfect by any means. But he's a Di.k
Whaaattttt?
You've been watching Gordon haven't you
The thing that's off putting for me is the name, is it connected to a religious group? 😉
Faye is so arrogant Obviously what they have been doing is not working
I love Alex's programs
But not this one with that Tool Oliver 😮..
Oliver wasn't being very helpful on the phone, a bit brusque.
Faye obviously likes to be in charge. Not sure I like her. She came over as being very pompous.
Nice place but use a simple white plate. Gentlemans beard should be covered somehow, very off-putting and hides the face and his wife had long hair NOT tied back. Unhygienic! However, I liked their place. I don't like chain eateries. They're too themed. This inderpendant place Oddfellows is the only place I would enter. Good luck to them. 🍀🍀🍀
As I customer, I would be turned off by the Osama Bin Laden beard 🤮
Not appropriate for a food establishment !!!!
What is it with that beard?
Whoever dresses Alex, should be sacked. She looks dreadful.
In The Hotel Inspector she has a white dress that looks like she is the last survivor of a slasher movie - liberally splashed in bright red blood. Bizarre. She could use a dress consultant. But would she listen?
Sure is interesting the English have their staples and u very rarely see obesity. Us Americans gotta be bigger n {not}better🤣
What is with that awful beard?!
The wife is lazy!
I have a problem with that beard. It's just so unhygienic
