binge watching the channel... and wonder why these hotels ALL have such mank carpets?! These styles were dated back in the 70's!?!! So many gorgeous carpet options available now... and products available to guard the carpets from dirt and spills.... x
Now I know where I've been going wrong with the Xylophone all these years..silly me has been trying to PLAY it, when all this time I should have been speaking INTO it 😂
Bal being a British born Asian... I would say his parents and extended family worked their flipping a**ses off over here in the UK to give their kids a legacy....
Most first generation Asian families expected their children to become Doctors or Lawyers.... Bal is clearly a bit of a rebel in wanting to become a business man... I hope he's doing well and keeping his parents proud! x
Nice young man. Unfortunately like many guys of his generation, he thinks about the bling and fast cars at the end of the rainbow. He wants to be flashy and superficially successful at a very young age. Becoming an entrepreneur or going into finance (let’s say) is not a fool-proof way to the good life. Both of these types of careers require a soul crushing amount of dedication and effort. He seems like a nice guy but It’s a shame he’s not great at public speaking or even conversing with strangers. The menu should be on a stand and well-featured. He forgot to tell the guests that the chefs are native to their respective countries. That restaurant should put the inn on the map whether or not guests actually stay in those sad rooms.
it was a difficult watch, but i know how difficult that would be, i'd rather jump out of a plane without a parachute than make speeches or do the 'xylophone' thing, he did well to give it a go
While I really respect this dude's ambition, he hasn't got a single solitary clue. He thinks he's the hottest thing since buttered toast, and he just doesn't listen to someone who is a lot smarter and more knowledgeable. There's a saying I love that applies. "If you think you're the smartest one in the room, you're either an idiot or you're in the wrong room."
Compared to many others, I think he did a decent job listening to Alex and accepting the criticism and moving forward in the best way he knew how while demonstrating a continued desire to move forward. I hope he's doing well today and has achieved successes even if not in the way he envisioned with this hotel.
He is no longer associated with the Hotel, whatever that means. It is owned by the "The Grosvenor Hotel, Rugby Ltd," and was incorporated on 23 December 2022. The current owner is listed as a Mr Mohammed Faroukh, and the reviews are truly dreadful. A.I is unable to find any info on Bal, so I think it is safe to assume he did not become a millionaire. Let's hope he is back in a corner shop, selling red wine to people at Christmas "When we didn't have the one they wanted, we sold them another one" Bless! It was Christmas, sweetheart, you could have sold them antifreeze, if you had bottled it. If they are in a corner shop On Christmas buying wine, they ain't bothered about Vintage! No sales technique required.
i think alex should have told him to keep out of the scene work in the back office he has a speech problem and looks very unhappy surely someone in the hotel has more charm and a smile
A bank loaned him 600K with no experience in the hospitality industry? Sorry but hes clueless and he compares himself to the Grosvenor in London 🙄. If you havent got the skills to pitch yourself then get someone in to do it for you.
He didn’t even do the first thing she asked. Why waste her time if he doesn’t want to use her advice? It’s not about his ability to sell, it’s about him seeing it as being beneath him. He said initially he wants flash cars and living the big shot life but unless you are born into money, you need to vigorously go out and work for it, not hide in an office and read your newspaper. It won’t come to you. You have to pursue it.
And a touch of poor management too. If he can’t get the place super clean, fresh painted and organized, he’s lost. 3 clocks and new key fobs???? Go home, kid. Your dream of big money and flash cars is crushed.
Thai fish cakes? I've lived in Thailand for over thirty years, I eat Thai food every day, and I've never come across 'Thai fish cakes' - where do these chefs come up with this stuff?
@legshakermaker1968 I'm eating in Loei, in Issan. I can see plenty of พิซซ่า here too, but that doesn't make พิซซ่า any more Thai than writing tod mun pla in Thai script makes fried fish cakes Thai or tod mun (fried potato cakes) Thai. For those who don't read Thai, พิซซ่า is pizza, available in every 7-11, so in every PTT petrol station. That doesn't make it Thai, or make KFC "Thai". Fish cakes are a Chinese or Korean dish, not remotely 'Thai'. The Thai version is fish balls, boiled not fried - not remotely similar, cooked in a totally different way. Enjoy your Thai Pizza Hut, Thai KFC, Thai donuts, and Thai Coke.
Speaking on the xylophone!Poor Bal,he really had no idea.😂
Lolololol I was hoping it wasn't just me who heard that 😂

So nervous!
as someone who is half a litre of vodka in, the “xylophone” comment killed me i cannot breathe
It's been over 2 hours.
Did you finish the bottle? 👀
He thinks selling is about being pushy. It's not. It's about being relaxed and building rapport, seeing every customer as an individual.
Pressure sales tactics can work, but at a hospitality establishment? you'll just piss off any guests
He's got a stutter. He works hard to overcome it. Good man,
Wat
I find him extremely arrogant

How on earth did this guy get the money to open a hotel at 24 years old?!!

He has to know someone at the bank
@@Nerathul1 it's not that deep... just a good credit score created by his parents...
Update: the hotel is still open and latest reviews saying it’s “filthy” and “damp.” Looks like there’s been a change of ownership
Thank you for the update. That is a shame for the place.
Just looked on Tripadvisor: all round rated as 3 but every review said, Dirty, cold and stinking of urine. Yuck!! (Jan /25)
That was just too painful. Couldn't watch to the end.
He shouldn't be anywhere near people.

We love you too, Simon Keith Palgrave!

Halfway through I had to skip to the end. The cringe was too much. Poor lad.

He handled criticism well and worked hard. He appears to be learning as he goes. I hope he succeeds.

He sold it in 2022/2023 and at that point, its most recent annual profit was circa $142,000 pounds pa.

So...he ain't gonna be England's Prime Minister?
I know that the editing of his presentation was not done in a very flattering manner, but he is NOT a salesman. Not even close to being one
Why didn't he do that from the beginning?
2 minutes in the video, well no thanks....
I think this boy might have a touch of the 'tism!
The "'tism" 😂😅 this killed me
As I am someone who has more than a touch of the "'tism", I can say that, no, Bal doesn't. He is just totally lacking self awareness lol

Does this kid have any hospitality education? Incredibly unorganized. No sense of intelligent thought or routine for a large group presentation.
Zero personality. Blank, dead eyes.
But that hair style... 💯?

Thai fish cakes are in any cook book and resto on western shores
Thai fish cakes (ทอดมันปลา) are definitely 'a thing' in Thailand. Not sure where you're eating but you will see them if you cast your net a bit wider.
