They have 4.5/5 on Trip Advisor up to Dec 22. It may have just been that occupancy was low due to post pandemic recession. It could also be Omar's health condition that forced the close.

@@greatimpressionsuk Well, that's speaking the obvious, lol. And they were excellent reviews, so it doesn't mean they didn't listen and so "paid the price". There are many reasons it could have closed, but being a poor quality place was not the one. I'll leave you to it. Have a good week.

I chuckle when people say, "Never, ever give up!" thinking that, that attitude will somehow make a bad business plan a good one. You should always assess your goals against reality and quit or change direction if needed. Approx. 70% of businesses will fail within the first 10 years, so the idea that hard work and believing in yourself will make you succeed is just not true.

Omar, living in Dubai, will have been surrounded by top restaurants, hotels, and hospitality. As an Estate agent he will have seen the inside of many millionaires homes. H
The idea that he might find a few living or travelling to mid Wales is a little short sighted.
If Kim also worked in Dubai, they are both deludedly leading each other on.
If they had stayed in a Michelin Starred hotel, they would know their rooms need total overhaul and rennovation. A £45 rabbit light from The Range (I have one) is not quite understanding the clientele they are after.

I have no idea, but is it even possible to get a Michelin Star if you’re not a culinary (trained) chef? I guess in extremely rare cases perhaps. I think I’m a pretty great cook, I enjoy doing it and sometimes I get lovely compliments; but I’ll tell you something for nothing, I am not a trained professional, I am well aware that never in my wildest dreams I would even come close to smelling a Michelin Star!! Seriously culinary school training, hundreds of hours working and apprenticing under food masters is how you get the top glories; not cooking for friends and family, or watching hours of UA-cam food channels and cooking shows!! You can have a dream, it’s good to have dreams, we all have dreams; but unless you have the time/skills and sometimes money, dreams remain dreams. Dreams are nice, but most of the time dreams don’t get you diddly squat or pay the bills!

They need to get migrants in through the government and go and do business courses and hotel courses. Or They need to do B&B with great Pub style lunch and dinner with High tea morning and afternoon tea. Open as many bedrooms as they can at £125. They need to employ clearing staff, cooks not chefs and a manager. They should sell their homes and move in and get job’s outside. They should package travel for Golfers, walkers and families. Do painting classes and weddings. That poor mother was the only person really working.

I have no idea, but is it even possible to get a Michelin Star if you’re not a culinary (trained) chef? I guess in extremely rare cases perhaps. Does anyone know? I think I’m a pretty great cook, I enjoy doing it and sometimes I get lovely compliments. But, I’ll tell you something for nothing, I am not a trained professional, I am well aware that never in my wildest dreams would I even come close to even smelling a Michelin Star!! I think some good home cooks are a bit delusional; serious culinary school training, hundreds/thousands of hours working and apprenticing under food masters is how you get the top glories; not cooking for friends and family, or watching hours of UA-cam food channels and cooking shows!! You can have a dream, it’s good to have dreams, we all have dreams; but unless you have the time/skills and sometimes money, dreams remain dreams. Dreams are nice, and sometimes they payoff, but most of the time dreams don’t get you diddly squat or pay the bills!

This is what happens when you don't tell your children the truth/no. She's been enabled by her parents, and now they are enabling him. She's got hideous taste, he thinks he's an amazing chef and they are clueless idiots. They have a massive hotel with lots of rooms, craziness not to make the most of all those rooms. They have no common sense to think they can start a family and run a hotel with a restaurant. You can't manifest everything, for all the talking about dreams etc. To randomly hire the coffee salesman to be a Michelin star winning chef says it all, they aren't using logic.

I have to feel bad for this family, they seemed like lovely people that really wanted the best, and Omar realy did seem like an excellent chef, but with his heart condition would never be able to work in someone else's restaurant. But I have a dear friend that is similar, a truly good person that is an excellent employee for someone else, we worked at the same place for several years, where I was his manager, but every business he's tried has failed because he can't turn a profit. He underprices his good and services, and doesn;t want to hire anyone to help, and then gets burned out from all the work.
