Yeah, hearing someone talk you through it and add some insight is much better than some techy non-informative, basically useless music. It's a waste of auditory space.
What? Why on earth did it get a 2? I know it's cool to hate apple but by today's standards this thing is pretty repairable. Sure, the battery is glued in place, but you are ripping it out to change it anyway.
their component are very hard to assemble. their company think it super carefully how to make the tablet at very best condition. thats why they got a superb quality. not all vendor can assemble it.
if it got 10 that mean it is very fast and easy to assemble the tablet. and that mean cheap tablet. u dont need to do it with care and no need to think more.
i believe u are judging the product by apple standards vs proper electronics standards :D i myself thought, "wow no glued together display, and cover thingy". u are still having a glued together construction, so if u want to enter the device at all u gotta deal with that, then the battery and motherboard is glued in too, so 2/10 seems sensefull i'd say. #stop stupid glue.
Hello iFixit, why aren't the videos voice teardowns anymore? I like the video and will subscribe but what happened to them? Just wondering, its a little more helpful when the teardowns have talking on how to remove components. Thanks!
their component are very hard to assemble. their company think it super carefully how to make the tablet at very best condition. thats why they got a superb quality. not all vendor can assemble it.
For six years I worked at an elementary school with a 1:1 student-per-device school and with the exception of a few cheap headphones coming apart in the headphone port, students never broke or damaged an iPad with protective case. Teachers had a higher rate of accidental damage. Just my 2 cents. Students loved their iPads and took very good care of them.
Ouch, a 2 out of 10! Well, at least some things were module, and the display wasn't fused this time, but adhesive for the motherboard and batteries? Not good...
Most of the devices in which screens are glued usually get lower score. But in devices like iPhone X, S9, etc it makes sense to use glue as they need to be sealed for waterproofing, but since this isn't even rated for waterproofing using glue to stick glass seems just a cheaper way of getting it done
For an “educational product”, thats probably going to spend a lot of its life living in a cart, and needing to be kept charge, you would think they would allow the swapping of the charging port if, say dropped with a lightning cable inserted, or utilizing the smart connector to reduce the amount of times they need to physically unplug the jack. Sure, they are reserving that feature for their upscale iPad Pro line, but still.
only a 2 their component are very hard to assemble. their company think it super carefully how to make the tablet at very best condition. thats why they got a superb quality. not all vendor can assemble it.
Hey, is it at all possible to know how you're holding the iPad when lifting the screen? I bought a kit but I'm really struggling with this.. can you help? thanks!
Ifixit.. I have a problem I have an iphone 6 plus and it has the touch disease that is when you bend the screen or somehow a grey bar comes down and it does not respond to touch. I know that you have to desoder it and replace it but if there is a way to fix that without sodering please make a video so i can fix it! Cheers!
I just ran into this unexpected hurdle. How did you manage to free the glued corners? I know from past experience that the iPad Mini lcd can be broken and don't want that to happen, obviously.
I have a question about the iPhone 6 plus. If my existing Logic board is done and I need to get a replacement. (1) can I move my IMIE over to my new logic board? (2) is there a chip that I cam move over to the new/use Logic board so my home button will function normally?
Question -- my family member seems to somehow broke the charging port on their iPad. From watching the video I would need to purchase a new logic board? The iPad is a 6th Gen. Any advice would be grateful.
Paid $150 to get my screen replaced and it cracked again. They replaced it again and apparently the frame was slightly bent. Now the lcd does this weird thing when I touch it with the pencil in one specific area. I’m guessing the lcd was damaged when the screen broke. Literally it fell flat on its back in a case so I don’t know why it’s so damaged. Should have bought apple care.
I feel sad that the older gadgets like the ipad 2 are almost unusabe today. I made this video on the best ways to use our old devices. Let me know what you think about it. Thanks.
behind the ipad screen, there is the metal display sort of thing, does anyone know what that is called because i think that has been smashed for my ipad
Does anyone know if this shares the same digitizier as the ipad Air 1 or ipad 5. I believe its different, but maybe someone who knows for sure can chime in.
Ummm... 2 out of 10??? Why? No fused display assemblies. The LCD rarely breaks but the digitizers do all the time. So a digitizer fix for this model will be $20 for the part. All the other components seems normally modular. Batteries rarely need replacement. Having repaired hundreds of iPads, I would have to give this iPad a 7 out of 10. Apple fixed the worst part of iPad repair as of late and that was the laminated screens. Other than that this just appears to be an iPad Air 1 design with updated SoC.
So Apple dropped the 9.7 inch iPad Pro and made this. Makes it a little less confusing now. So this is pretty much cheap version of that with the none fused screen.
You skipped the part where the LCD is glued down in the corners under the screws. There is absolutely no way that the LCD will come up that easy on this model. Please don’t leave out the most annoying part of this repair in your video. That is part of the reason the repairability score is so low and they cut it out to make the repair look easier.....
Want to see more? No, thanks. I'm seeing ifixit as much as I like. But I'd like to HEAR more: Description of process, and little explanation on the final score.
I like commentary rather than music 😢
Me too unless it's Pantera or Mudvayne.
Yeah, hearing someone talk you through it and add some insight is much better than some techy non-informative, basically useless music. It's a waste of auditory space.
Please make a video where your talking about the teardown and not just music.
At least the music didn't suck, as seems to be the UA-cam norm..
I agree
What? Why on earth did it get a 2?
I know it's cool to hate apple but by today's standards this thing is pretty repairable.
Sure, the battery is glued in place, but you are ripping it out to change it anyway.
Totally agree with you.
Because iFixit hasn't changed *their* standards, and IMO, they shouldn't.
their component are very hard to assemble. their company think it super carefully how to make the tablet at very best condition. thats why they got a superb quality. not all vendor can assemble it.
if it got 10 that mean it is very fast and easy to assemble the tablet. and that mean cheap tablet. u dont need to do it with care and no need to think more.
I would have thought a 5-7/10 as it didnt seem too bad, nothing was damaged. Hmm
i believe u are judging the product by apple standards vs proper electronics standards :D
i myself thought, "wow no glued together display, and cover thingy".
u are still having a glued together construction, so if u want to enter the device at all u gotta deal with that, then the battery and motherboard is glued in too, so 2/10 seems sensefull i'd say.

Wait why a 2/10?
Hello iFixit, why aren't the videos voice teardowns anymore? I like the video and will subscribe but what happened to them? Just wondering, its a little more helpful when the teardowns have talking on how to remove components. Thanks!
They fired Kelsey
Oh no, why?
Budget cuts
WHY SCORE 2?
Why only 2? Its hard to change Touch? Battery is so challange?
You have to dissassembly every fucking part inside that iPad if you want to replace the battery. What do you think?
their component are very hard to assemble. their company think it super carefully how to make the tablet at very best condition. thats why they got a superb quality. not all vendor can assemble it.
Who else is watching on an iPad (6th generation) it’s so cool to see what’s inside of the iPad that I’m watching this video on
Impressed with the production quality considering you guys don’t have ads!
EDIT: I’m buying the Ifixit Pro tech toolkit today :)
Your channel grows from the day you start commentary rather than music.. that's it gotta say.. fantastic video!
Im watching an ipad 6 being taken apart with my ipad 6...
Shame the host got fired to save money on these videos
I like hearing human Voices explain what is happening. It helps me undstand.
Guys, thanks for all uploads. You're more than pros.

2/10? I would've thought it's at least a 4/10. I get that the adhesive is annoying but compared to other devices it's not that hard to repair?
but why only 2?
Will apple pencil still work after screen replacement?
No school would need to have these repaired, they would get someone else to do it
Even with the happy chilled tune, this is the inverse of "unbox therapy" ... something like, "Disassembly PTSD."
I think the iPad looks as beautiful on the inside as it does on the outside
You still have a working Apple Pencil! Wow!
I would give it 10/10 only for ability to replace cracked glass without replacing the entire display module.
I think they listened to you for most of the iPad's design!
It seems that someone with minimal experience could open this iPad with not much difficulty, I’m a bit puzzled about that score of 2
only a 2
their component are very hard to assemble. their company think it super carefully how to make the tablet at very best condition. thats why they got a superb quality. not all vendor can assemble it.
When we open the front glass , can dust and sand go into the unlaminated iPad 6 screen ?
Might also work to do it in a room that is clean and humid. Humidity seems to keep dust under control. Turn on the shower, I'm ready to fix the iPad!
Ifixit always the first to teardown
Wow my iPad 6 runs out of battery every day and that's the size of the battery
Do think it’s possible to replace the 2018 ugly champagne gold case, with the 2017gold case?
Hey, is it at all possible to know how you're holding the iPad when lifting the screen? I bought a kit but I'm really struggling with this.. can you help? thanks!
Now we need the video with instructions to glue it back.
How dare you give the iPad a rating like that...
Huh, I expect the score to be a bit higher, reparability isn't that bad (would still be hard for beginners, I know)
is like someone puts a iPhone 7 circuitry and made it bigger
999CATZ not an iPhone 7 an 8
iPhone 7 at 1:58
Or at 1:57
Can you tell where is the Wifi- and BT-antenna located?
Ifixit..
I have a problem

I know that you have to desoder it and replace it but if there is a way to fix that without sodering please make a video so i can fix it!

Yes what he doesn’t show is the lcd is glued in all four corners and can be difficult to get out
I just ran into this unexpected hurdle. How did you manage to free the glued corners? I know from past experience that the iPad Mini lcd can be broken and don't want that to happen, obviously.

R.I.P. iPad Pro 9.7 inch

id love to see a reassembly and see how you guys handle all that Adhesive.
That case, does it basically serve as a giant heatsink?
Why I'm watching this? I don't even have an ipad
So I got my earphone plug thing stuck in the headphone jack, if I take it to the apple store does this method work?
ah, it's relieving to see that the touchscreen isn't integrated with the screen. just as good as the ol' ipad 4.
Why is there NO GUIDE on removing power button????
I feel sad that the older gadgets like the ipad 2 are almost unusabe today. I made this video on the best ways to use our old devices. Let me know what you think about it. Thanks.
I dropped this iPad and the screen is lifting up and the touchscreen near the lifted up prat doesn’t work
My iPad was screaming while watching this
😐😐😐😐😑😑
I need a real answer about The adhesive remover is that hundred percent working or not?
Why are there long empty spaces at the top?
where do I get a screen for this ipad? I shattered mine and I want to replace it
its never that easy to open these up. but its not just ifixit every repair tutorial has one already taken apart lol
Had to spend 70 dollars for a replacement screen that looks like the ipad airs 22 dollar screen but with different connectors.
Very good video and excellent music, well done!
behind the ipad screen, there is the metal display sort of thing, does anyone know what that is called because i think that has been smashed for my ipad
Does anyone know if this shares the same digitizier as the ipad Air 1 or ipad 5. I believe its different, but maybe someone who knows for sure can chime in.
I’m watching this just to torture my iPad.
Nekem is pont ilyen iPadem van! 6. generációs, és arany színű. Pont olyan! - Findusz

That battery is huge :O
my iPad is now scared 😱☠️😳😳😱
This new model will require a different digitizer to air and iPad 5
Where can one buy the logic board ?
is the digitizer is the same as iPad 5th Gen or iPad Air 1?
Only 2 out of 10? Come on, it's not that bad!
That's one hella thicc battery
iFixit where can i find the screen for my ipad
I gave this video a 2/10 based on a lack of commentary and a list of reasons why the iPad only gets 2/10.
Watching on iPad 6
Deducting for the glue, I would've given this a 7 or 6.
So Apple dropped the 9.7 inch iPad Pro and made this. Makes it a little less confusing now. So this is pretty much cheap version of that with the none fused screen.
It was released on my birthday
27th March
no VoiceOver
I am using the exact iPad he is tearing down
Awesome work
Who is watching on iPad 6?
How’s that a 2? Easy opening modular components, fair use of glue how can you rate it so poorly
Y'all are asking why it got a 2...
Go check out an LG V20 teardown
Where I can find iPad 6 housing?
You skipped the part where the LCD is glued down in the corners under the screws. There is absolutely no way that the LCD will come up that easy on this model. New Digitizer? or same as Air 1 and iPad 5th Gen?
Brazzer .B. I think it's new because of the support of apple pencil
Want to see more? No, thanks. I'm seeing ifixit as much as I like. But I'd like to HEAR more: Description of process, and little explanation on the final score.
Every parrents nightmare
A 2 really? The scores are now becoming reliable... the lcd isn’t fused to the glass and you score it a 2.... smh
A lot empty space that can used for battery
As MKBHD once said
"A waste of space"
I say that to the ipad
I´ve never seen such poor use of space before
2:20 that’s why it’s cheap .....well played apple
Beautiful as always!
I miss the hosts of this show. :((
Who is waiting on iPad 6
a 2 with that display? thats way too low
This is so satisfying
Can you do a Nintendo Switch teardown
