I'm going to sound like a right argumentative fecker here however, here goes. I owned a 1200 GS, hated it, not it but it's colour, it's image, it went. I then got an ATAS, too big, to heavy, I digress. I then got the T7, loved it but quite fancied a proper fast adv bike, got the KTM SAS....didn't overly enjoy it, got another T7, this time a World Raid....then fancied another KTM SAS lol. got it, hated it, traded it for....wait for it....another World Raid T7.....are you keeping up....anyway, finally getting to my point, as much as I loved the T7's they didn't excite me, the 1300 does, it thrills me in a way the KTM 1290 couldn't for some reason. My point is, this GS thril;ls me in a way the 900gs didn't, nor the T7, nor the 1290 KTM, so it's not all about the once a year trip to the Alps for me, this 1300 excites me.....well done if you got to the end of this reply. 😅
I got to the end twice! I loved the 1300 to start with, both its power and handling, but never connected with it. I truly hate the gearbox, and the engine doesn’t sound very nice. The 900, now I have sorted the exhaust excites me, my monster with a full rave system excites me. Both bikes are flawed, but they come with drama. The 1300 didn’t have drama, it’s has a terrible gearbox and not a very nice sounding engine (I had the akro on mine, and the stock sounds better) You should try my 900, with all its noise and splender!
@RRGS78 Had the 900 for a week in Spain a couple weeks back and as someone who is used to parallel twins(T7) I thought I'd enjoy it, I didn't. Felt too tall, I'm also 5.8/9ish, couldn't get confident in it at all and prior to buying the 1300 I was sorely tempted, dodged a bullet me thinks. All this proves is we all have different tastes, agree about the 1300 gearbox though, it's horrible yet sublime on the ASA versions.
OK I have to comment on the "best money can buy" comment. That's now the second vid of yours you've said recently. Surely that is subjective ? 20 grand motorcycles being the best money can buy ?? I have said 20 grand motorcycle but I also have a 5 grand 400x Triumph Scrambler, that is a far bang for buck than my 20 grand one.
I'm very glad I stumbled across your channel. I am having very similar thoughts. I had a 1200 GS TC, a 1200 GS Rallye (4 years) and have owned a 1250 GSA TE for almost 4 years. I commute daily and whilst I used to do at least 2 trips to the continent a year that has only been one in the past few years (mainly to visit my daughter in the Netherlands and a scenic ride home doing an average of 3,000km). I totally agree that the 900GS makes perfect sense for me too 95% of the time. For my daily 10 mile commute and my daily driver (living on a small rock) with the odd Sunday spin the f900GS would be perfect . So for me the ultimate decision is... Do I accept the much smaller fuel range (I'm riding in the EU with petrol stations everywhere) on the 1 week per year when I tour and down size next Spring. If I do, I will probably avoid the enduro suspension upgrade and go for the lowered version as my legs are on the short size at 5'8 (although I have have ridden full fat GS/GSA's for the past 12 years) plus I don't need the ground clearance as, whilst I love a bit of gravel, I do draw the line at log jumps.
Thank you for your kind words! I think we both know what you should do! The exhaust work I’ve done is key though! I too am 5ft 8 with a 29” inside leg and the normal height is fine!
I already know the answer before i watch the video
lol, well perhaps but you should still watch!
Get a Puig taller screen for better protection. Works great on mine.
unfortunely, im caught by style over substance, i think the stock one looks better, although im sure not as effective as the puig one!
@ agreed but my commute in the dark has motorway stretches so more of a necessity. 2 mins to pop back on the shorty for Sunday spins. 👍

Our first world problems are real!

lol ok, so “best money can buy” in terms of stats only, objectively it’s the best, subjectively it’s not.
Alot of money to waste… i bought the r1300gs , i will keep it a few years…
I hope you enjoy it!
Not entirely sure about the waste of money comment
