@@andrewvanbezooijen5181 yea, 85 inch is too short and I wished make a pro version that is wider and taller, 93inches is a good starting point - most ceiling height is 8ft because of the drywall standard size.
Awesome unit/easy setup. I had a completely different experience with the assembly of this unit. I suspect this review was done with a very early unit and REP Fitness has taken feedback and made adjustments. Super impressed with the ease of installation and set up as well as the quality of this trainer. Came in a standard uline wood packing crate - just bend the tabs back to open. Plan to spend some time to unpack, unwrap, inventory, and organize the parts. Everything will go faster if you do. Once the parts were organized, it took 2 of us about 3 hours to fully assemble. Very straightforward - no issues. I had read reviews discussing the difficulty of installing the cables and hole alignment issues. My unit came with the cables already installed. I had no issues with aligning bolts into holes. Everything went surprisingly smoothly. Also, I checked the welds based on this review - they all look reasonably clean - again they probably got an early production unit. Exceeded expectations. I'm just starting to do workouts with this FT. It's been a game-changer in terms of creating much better workout routines - more variety, more eccentric move options, more isolation opportunities, great for rehabbing (I have a shoulder issue). Silky smooth operation. I'm 65. Long term fitness fan. 6', 175lbs. The compact footprint and height of this unit are perfect. The footprint was a big driver for me because I only had a limited floorspace section of my garage to put this in. By the way this is 58" WIDE - NOT 68" - the Rep Fitness website is correct (vs. this review). I like doing pullups as part of my workouts. My only complaint is I wish the pullup handholds offered a better shoulder width neutral grip position (helps avoid shoulder and elbow issues). Overall very happy with this product. Honestly, for basically the price of a Peloton, this is a great addition for anyone doing strength training.
@RepFitness- here is a free one: Take this and add a single arm to each side that rotates 180 degrees horizontally (and locks in) so we can adjust the WIDTH of exercises along with the height. Like a vendetta strength jammer arm turned 90 degrees, and the handle attachment point at the end. It would allow you to shrink the footprint in, but still allow enough width for chest flys.
Hey Coop. Long time fan. Just wanna say I wish you use the machine/product more in future reviews. Lately, it’s been a lot of you talking while sitting down, with a lot of B roll. That is nice and all, but I think we need more use of the product in real time :)
literally just ordered this FT 3 weeks ago, it's been really great and comparatively with the price vs others, I don't think I could've gotten better value.
Rep should just pair the Athena w/ their in-rack storage shelves & use angled brackets & wider front crossmember w/angled attachment point to widen out the front posts, similar to Rogue’s FT-1 functional trainer design.
I want these companies to make more budget friendly dual arm functional trainers. The prime fitness dual arm functional trainer cost $6k rep has their horizontally fixed trainer for $2k. It doesn't cost $1,000 to create 1 arm.
Okay hear me out, crazy idea that would be crazy expensive. Would solve the inrack cable problem with the cable arms being so close. What if you make jammers arms that the cables could feed thru and then could lock into position in the transverse and frontal planes when you want to use the cables. that way they would act as jammer arms when you aren’t using the pulleys but then could be positioned like free-motion duel cable stack when using the cables
Seems like you could get two Bells of Steel cable columns with stacks, connect them with a cross member (or just bolt both to the wall) and you’ll get a functional trainer that is wider, with more versatility (because it works with BOS rack attachments), a heavier stack (because you can switch from 2:1 to 1:1), for a roughly similar price. That’s probably the way I would go at this price point if you needed a functional trainer separate from a rack.
Thanks for the awesome review. I was feeling a bit pissed because I bought the first version of the ft 5000 and they unveiled this newer one. Now, I don't feel Iike I missed out on much. But, I have to admit I'd like the extra pulley height.
the only thing truly wrong with the version 1 was the top pulley height which they fixed. yes it wasnt totally revamped, but it wasnt needed to be. they only thing that was stopping me from ordering the version one was the height and with that fixed i ordered right away (waiting on delivery) unless you wanna spend 5k on a free motion ft this is the best bang for your buck hands down.
I have v1 and totally agree with the terrible storage system. Please find a solution so we all can upgrade it. It took 2 people and took many hours to put together. Was frustrated at some point and definitely they can improvement in the future.
Feels like the perfect video to get you once again to do a cable attachment video. Would love to see one on the range of attachments, D handles in particular (rogue, rep pro, etc) and Maximum Advantage Grip attachments. Figure MAG, what's unique about them and which ones you'd recommend if you only get one or two. And then maybe how they compare to some of the more affordable clones
I'd recommend the medium supinate first, then the close supinate (happy to keep going in order of use). The knock offs all feel a bit "cheap" in comparison and I really like supporting an American made company. By cheap, I mean the grip / texture doesn't feel as high quality and I notice differences in the grip size and angle. The only ones that are "close" are the Prime...which are amazing and offer variability...but are expensive. I have all the Mag and all the Prime attachments for reference (weird flex).
Waiting for review of the Torque F9 Functional Trainer. I remember seeing a teaser many months ago that you might do an in-depth review but haven't seen it yet!
I'm in Colorado and have almost all Rep gear. I think the reason this product is different than most of their stuff... I get the sense they didn't design this from scratch. Instead, they have a manufacturer just modify some existing thing that they make. Maybe even made in the same factory as the Lifetime one that it's based upon.
Honestly, why doesn't REP make some angled crossmembers and a wider multigrip pullup bar with their Athena to give it that wider v-shaped traditional functional trainer footprint? Then you'd retain all the functionality of the 3x3 uprights with 5/8 or 1 inch holes (including height options) and they'd need minimal new engineering or parts.
Totally agree on the weight increments. Just look at the metric (kg) too, they are not in even numbers. Yes please, "coop-ify" the storage on them, would LOVE to see that. Nice, Hopefully they listen to Coop! I love the idea of a stand alone functional trainer but the value for an Ares or Athena I feel is way better, especially after watching this review.
Great review. Considering how amazing Ares and Athena are, this is definitely a disappointment. A good weight stack weight and I’d buy this now even with the wonky metric measurements but just too short. Even as good as Ares and Athena are, ALL of their products are too short, they need someone over 6’3” to work on the design team.
still prefer my xmark functional trainer! had their ft 5000 version 1. to short for my short 5'5" self and felt "cheap." xmark working flawlessly going on 3 yrs of constant use.
I want to see you develop a new storage solution for it. Something like this.... That "Instructional Diagrams" need to go. Not for this audience. Replace that with wall control or pegboard so the user can define a storage arangement for handles, attachements that works for them. That lower set of "pegs" should be replaced by a flat shelf for dumbbells/kettlebells etc, and then a second one of those just off the floor. Add one of there standup benches to this and you have a whole gym that stores in a very small space, like the corner of a basement.
Seems like the negatives are forgivable. Once you get over the hurdle of assembly, you're left with a machine that really only has a couple of minor things that aren't ideal.
It almost looks like you could invert the trolley handles and put on the opposite post so the handle faces down. Then assemble the actual pulley part to the handles
Coop - why would you get this vs. getting the Athena or Ares. Just considering the value proposition here. The FT-5000 will always but JUST a functional trainer but the ability to build out and expand the Ares/Athena just seems like a better buy as an investment vs. getting a single purpose tool in the functional trainer. Just sitting on the fence right now debating what to get here from Rep.
@@adamfox1547 I ultimately figured it out just looking at the measurements and movements between the two. The range of motion is a bit more narrow or limited with the Athena/Ares. I ended up just getting the FT and plan to put the full rack in another room. The rack configurator options are basically endless but the price scales with your options and it gets out of control in a hurry if you aren't paying attention
Would love to see you do a review of the Trak fitness Trackbar pro X and handles. They also make a rowing machine bar that's supposed to allow you to kinda row like you would with actual oars. edit : the trackbar pro X is the one that looks like a rail, which handles can laterally slide on.
Time for functional trainers to get more innovative. I have seen a few innovative ones but this company called Atlas - models AL-3075 and AL-3101. As well, Inspire made a more affordable version of the FT2 called the SF3 with a built in Smith machine. These other ones are fine but don't really provide much more functionality as compared to cheaper models - maybe this Rep fitness one is a little wider than a cheaper model with a few more options for the chin up grips - doesn't seem to do anything else different from a basic unit.

I had no issues with tge setup, however, tge written instructions were pretty bad, went to YT, and it was a breeze, did it by myself. Overall I think it’s a great unit.

What's up coop , love your videos I would love to see you review the inspire SF3 thats sold at Costco. I know you reviewed the FT2I would like to see the Sf3.
This product looks nice but lacks innovation. Options for innovation 1) adding a option for different heights, or an adjustable height chin up bar; 2) lat pulldown section; 3) rowing section with footplate; 4) option to change ratio to 1 to 1 for more weight; 5) foldable to close to save space; 6) integrated smith bar; 7) back pad for support for chest flys; 8) making it more like a squat rack where you can add accessories; 9) arms that can go wider for better chest fly angles; 10) integrated bench, making it easier to use and find the right position; 11) integrated leg curl/leg extension; 12) built in weight horns for adding more weight.
Just a quick question - in your written review you say the front width is 68" but the REP website says it's 58". Was this just a mistake? I want to make sure I know the actual width before I buy. Thanks.
I got a reply from REP. They confirmed the new front width is 58”. Direct quote “We can confirm that the front width of the FT-5000 2.0 is in fact 58" and not 68".” Btw the compact footprint for what you get and the relative quality of this unit is tough to beat. I’m 6’ and the extra height of this vs the FT3000 is much appreciated for pull-ups. I wish the assembly didn’t suck and it had a lower weight range for rehab. But all things considered this looks like a great option. I can fabricate my own pegboard for handles. I also don’t care that it comes with crappy handles. I’m going to buy the ones that work best for me any way.
BTW I ended up buying this product. Installation and assembly was super easy - 3 hours once it was unpacked. It came with all the cables pre-installed. I can confirm the unit is 58" wide (Not 68"). Great product!
Wow alot to digest but GR8 info... as for th pully trolly I'm not sure how hard it would be but could U remove and flip them and they may need to be switched right to left as well as the pullys themselves may need to be reassembled flipped.. anywhoo just 1 of many things.. thanks for this content.
Scouring UA-cam because I’m looking to buy one amongst many other things, the fact you said 4hr assembly has me turned off. If sides are already assembled why should I also have to weave the cable in through the pulleys???
Brandon you ever review any of the French Fitness products? I'd like to see you review the French Fitness FFS Silver Dual Adjustable Pulley functional trainer.
The standalone functional trainer form factor isn’t going to have a place in home gyms for much longer. The future will be an Athena/Ares style integrated trainer with Freemotion style arms. Bulletproof Fitness is working on one now, and after seeing what they accomplished with the Isolator, I think it’s really going to shake up the industry
Hey Coop, great content! I had pre-ordered this and it’s currently sitting in my garage (not yet assembled). Any additional tips on assembly to help streamline the process?
Not sure why you compare it to the life fitness one.. a huge difference is, that the Life Fitness FT is 4:1 ratio, while this is 2:1. ALSO, I simply don't agree with the pulleys being aluminium with the arguement you make.. what is easier to replace.. a pulley or the entire cable... exactly.
Coop, we know you hate plate loaded functional trainers, but the market needs a good review of the Titan Fitness plate loaded functional trainer. There just isn’t a good one out there.
I agree with you 100% regarding the new pulleys. I was expecting to be greeted with the same nice aluminum pulleys that were on the Athena when I put mine together. Instead I was greeted by pulleys that were similar to pop can quality, wafer thin, and what I can only describe as worbly when they rotate. If I knew this ahead of time, I honestly would have went with the GF nylon pulleys. I'm looking into upgrading the "upgraded" pulleys soon.
Xmark just came out with a new functional trainer last month. No reviews anywhere. Review time?! I’m debating between ft 5000 and that xmark due to its height.
Nice review! I’ve never understood why people buy Rep functional trainers over Inspire and Bodycraft which seem to have much better finish for the price.
Please tell me how many mm the holes on the stack are !? Thinking I can just get a plate load pin in there to give the stack more weight !? Also is there a bar we can connect the two pullies with together for even more weight ?! Help

The new Arcadia has the updated pulley and trolley system. Praying Rep updates this soon and ill immediately buy
Just a quick question - in your written review you say the front width is 68" but the REP website says it's 58". Was this just a mistake? I want to make sure I know the actual width before I buy. Thanks.
Same question. 58" works. 68" doesn't. Big difference.
This is not the bulletproof isolator. LOL
Was hoping that
Still waiting! Won’t make my move until I see Coop’s review
Not so sure. These units are cheaper and more compact than doing a modular rack build.
Nice "Bar Don't Lie" shirt
Need a review on the jacked up power rack pro functional trainer !!
I considered buying this one until you mentioned how hard it was to assemble it.
Hey Coop, great content! I had pre-ordered this and it’s currently sitting in my garage (not yet assembled). Any additional tips on assembly to help streamline the process?
Would love to see the force G6, much more expensive but more functional?
We need an Arcadia review
Is it coming? Arcadia on the way to GGR headquarters?
Get RX’D makes a storage racks with functional trainers on the sides. Please review it, I can’t find any online.
Don't you think America should just go metric like the rest of the world? 150 sounds a lot better than 330.693 as a PB :-)
Xmark just came out with a new functional trainer last month. No reviews anywhere. Review time?!
I’m debating between ft 5000 and that xmark due to its height.
Do you make a decision yet? I am down to the same two machines.
The foreign weight increments are a deal breaker. I could use this at a hotel gym or something but not my garage. Need 5 and 10 lbs increments
Metric is superior. Time to leave inches and pounds. Pounds are only even in the US. In the rest of the world it's uneven.😂😂😂
Wait if the plates are made in kilograms then why aren't to KG whole numbers?
Nice review! I’ve never understood why people buy Rep functional trainers over Inspire and Bodycraft which seem to have much better finish for the price.
I want that Shirt COOP! 🔥
Please tell me how many mm the holes on the stack are !? Thinking I can just get a plate load pin in there to give the stack more weight !? Also is there a bar we can connect the two pullies with together for even more weight ?! Help
I want to see rep do a prime/freemotion style FT
How about the Atlas M810 functional trainer squt rack and smith machine.
I'm really looking for a budget leg press machine for my home gym. Are vertical leg press machines any good and can do a video on the best budget leg press machines for home gym?
Please start doing reviews on powertec equipment.
What are the width and depth dimensions?
I’ve seen like 4 different numbers depending on the review/sit ranging from 58-72 inches wide.
Talks about the weight cones and the slow pan down cuts away right before the weight cones are shown. Talk about a tease
