Rob's Dad Gordon founded G&G Fitness, a company that sells fitness equipment, and has been in the industry his entire career. Thanks for the comment. Yes we have 14 retail store and have built thousands of Gyms. Fitness Equipment is our passion and been part of our family for years.
Thanks for the review Coop! The Gronkowski Family has been in the fitness equipment industry since 1990 and has been selling top brands in our retail stores and commercially. Fitness equipment is the backbone of the Gronkowski Family! We're excited about this unit and we have more attachments dropping soon (landmine and Dip) We're working diligently to produce quality equipment for all users! Looking forward to everyone's feedback! Feel free to reach out with any questions
The versatility and durability of the Functional Trainer truly shine through. Love how it caters to a wide range of exercises and its robust build makes it a long-lasting investment. Thanks for the honest breakdown, it's incredibly helpful for those of us considering adding this powerhouse to our home gyms. Gronk Fitness, you've got another satisfied customer in the making!
For those of you out there in CANADA.. I have the EXACT SAME functional trainer from IRONAX that I bought from Treadmill Factory for a fraction of the price. I'm pretty sure they sourced it from the same manufacturer in China and slapped their logo on it. Have a nice day and happy lifting everyone!
The Gronk Fitness plate loaded leg ext curl machine is a beast. I have it and love it. Personally I think it beats out. Xmark, body solid, titan and many others. The machine is over 50+ lbs heavier than the titan. And the build quality does not compare to any other. This machine is legit there’s a reason it’s sold out and will sell out again when it’s restocked. It’s about time Gronk Fitness gets the respect it deserves. Also they have a lot more equipment coming very nice pieces.
Having grown up in Massachusetts and watching Gronk play now living in the Tampa area I dig the Gronk football branding. Would I buy it over others because of that? Yes. Is it dumb to do that just because the sticker? Also yes.
XMARK makes 2 functional trainers, one is very similar to the Gronk unit, 200-pound stacks, but doesn't have metal pulleys, will fit in a basement gym with a ceiling height of 7 1/2 feet, and I have this XMARK unit, I bought it a few months back on sale for $2,100. XMARK recently introduced the unit that was very briefly pictured in this video. That model is 90" tall and has dual 230-pound stacks, and wouldn't have fit in my basement, but you can get 10% off as I write this, so $2,500, and probably even less when they do a sale. I'm 5' 11" and I can get a great stretch on mine for flys, presses and 1-arm cross body pulldowns, but for the pulldowns I'm sitting on a bench pulled away from the machine because I cannot get that stretch if I'm close to the machine unless I'm sitting on the floor, kneeling doesn't create enough space. If I try to do 2-arm pull downs far enough away from the machine to create a stretch, with 150-pounds or more on both stacks, the machine tips forward, I haven't drilled and bolted the machine to the floor, since it weighs 800-lb I wasn't expecting it to tip. If you can fit a taller functional trainer, get the taller functional trainer, better angles equal better results. The new XMARK machine is an option to consider if you're shopping taller functional trainers and I'm very happy with my shorter XMARK FT. With attachments, benches and using a metal plyo box to sit on for leg extensions, I can pretty much do my entire workout on the FT, and it's much easier on my joints since my movements don't have to conform to the machine. The big restriction is weight, at a 2:1 ratio, I'm maxed at 200 LB and need to purchase one of the stack pins that you can slide weights on like a barbell, which should get me to 250 (125 realized) per side.
Hey Coop thanks for the great review!! FYI Gronk fitness has upgraded every negative you had regarding this machine. 1. Pull up bar- much improved! 2. Logos are all laser etched. 3. Updated storage now has a peg board. 4. Weight storage guards included and laser etched. This machine is butter smooth and obviously improved due to your review. I live close to G&G (Gronkowski) fitness in Buffalo and they are Awesome! Thanks again!
I have been waiting for this review before buying a FT and I’m glad I did . I went to the Rep showroom in So Cal and tried out The Arcadia and loved everything but lack of add ons. Very smooth movement, protective shields and nice fit and finish . Great value also. Will be ordering an Arcadia in near future and possibly try to adapt Gronks Lat Seat and Footplate or some other companies add ons,Thanks
Just bought 4 pieces from them looking forward to see how they preform. Grabbed the belt squat ,standing adductor, iso seated row, and lat pulldown. Talked directly to Dan Gronk he was very helpful and hooked me up with a great deal. I will be releasing a review video on all 4 products once I get them assembled. Coop you are the best gym review guy on yt. Thanks for all the details and time you take to review products.
I like that this combines features of a rack. I don't have room or funds for a rack and functional trainer. I've been going back and forth between a Centr 3 (I like the idea of the Smith machine for bench press safety), a Rep Arcadia or the FT-5000. Now this one. It will be my one and only purchase of a functional trainer, so I need to make the best choice. I also want good quality. And there are so many choices...lol!
Insane, you just breezed over the fact you can slap j hooks on this and turn it into a rack? That’s incredible beneficial and puts the other solo functional trainers to shame. P.s. Go Pats!
It's a great feature over other standalone functional trainers but for most people I think a 4-post power rack with a built-in functional trainer is better value and safer to use as a rack. If you don't have room for a 4-post then the rack attachments on this could be pretty useful.
I’d love to see you review the Titan Nemesis- looks like aluminum pulleys and good weight amount, even if no frills. I haven’t seen anybody review one so far. Anybody know if Rep is coming out with a revamp of the 5000 with a name this year too?
I’ve been seeing ads for Gronk Fitness stuff for months. I thought they were just a retailer, didn’t realize they also slapped their own label on Chinese products.
This is very interesting as I have the exact same trainer with attachments made by Ironax. Their leg extension/curl is also the exact same. I bought the trainer a year ago for $1,999+tax CAD with free shipping from The Treadmill Factory in Ontario. Attachments were extra. Makes me wonder if this is just something that can be bought from a chinese manufacturer that you slap your own brand on it.
I'm neutral even though Gronk is my favorite Tight End of all time and I’m a Buccaneers fan. Quality, function, size, and price are what determines my home gym purchases.
I'm interested in adding it to my home gym. Currently have the hoist Mi7 SMITH and a leg press taking up most of my garage and looking at remodeling a bedroom with a smaller condense but functional gym
Coop, what is the height of the top trolley position, it looks to be around 72 inches. The highest point for the trolleys are one of the major details when shopping for a functional trainer. I love the REP Arcadia but they made it too small. It has the shortest high trolley point on the market at 68 inches. REP painted themselves in a corner with the FT 5000. They have the Arcadia but just came out with the 2nd version of the FT 5000 so if they make the Arcadia a normal size then they might has well stop making the FT 5000 which is what I would've done but looking out for the FT 5000 they now have a so so FT 5000 and a really nice Arcadia that is too small for most people. If they made the Arcadia the same size of the 5000 they would have the best functional trainer ever, EVER for a home gym but the engineers blew it by making 2nd version of the FT 5000. It's back to REP shows they are really smart some times then at other times you are left saying what could they have been thinking to do that. REP is just inconsistent in the engineering dept.
Re: the sticker- just like dealer license plate frames, if I get some financial compensation then I’m happy to advertise the product. Otherwise it comes off unless it is aesthetically pleasing.
Try this hack for adding weights to the stacks. Get the 90 degree welding magnets at a hardware store the ones I have weigh 2 lbs each and have a triangular notch on one side that you can put a 5 or a 10 lb metal hex dumbbell in a pair of them, remember that with a 2to1 ratio that is really only adding 7lbs of actual resistance to the movement you are doing.
Live in New England and have some second hand dumbbells of his. Think it’s really his dad’s company. Think he’s been selling gym equipment forever I think.

I have to admit that this is probably the best deal out there right now. Arcadia is Great but it is just too little. I cant have a functional trainer that Im taller than with me at 5'10. The unit from the front to the back tapers down to around 68-70 inches. Guys my height and taller coming to my gym will not like it's size nor do I. Yeah it's finishes and bells and whistles are second to none but it looks like a unit for a kid
Coop what is the best functional trainer for people 6’3” ? I want an option for full extension lat pulldowns and doing movements where I want the pulley above my head. Im thinking a 90-93” height.
Simple ?, aren't most of these units made overseas? Aren't these units pretty much the same just companies can tailer them slightly. Been looking at buying one and so many look identical.
I get the need to review all products butl these functional trainers costs around $2500 a piece. That's as much or more than a full rack, bar, and weights, and maybe adj dumbells. They're a luxury item for the average garage gym owner.
Coop, heads-up saying a wider setup functional trainer is better for stretch isn't really accurate with the latest science and physics. Stretch is maximized in a cable chest fly when the cable forms a 90° angle with your hand to maximize forces while in the wide open bottom position since this is when the chest is actually stretched. A wide pulley setup would not allow for this since the cables would be pulling your arms outward at a much wider angle at the bottom and instead, as the setup gets wider, tension would be maximized more towards the peak contraction. Here's a quick part of a video talking about cables and angles and how it impacts forces and the stretch, they reference a cable bicep curl but the same applies for a chest fly or any cable movement (as they mention towards the end of this section): ua-cam.com/video/wNeiLSEwTHk/v-deo.html&si=NxQxY2cfqQAiyrPU You can easily test this to verify for yourself by grabbing the cable with 1 hand and getting into that bottom fly position in front of your functional trainer and walking directly side to side while holding your arm out and see at what point does the tension and stretch feel maximized in your chest, if your arm can angle behind your body then it should be at a point when the pulley is narrower than your wingspan. On top of this, the latest research seems to indicate that providing tension in the deepest stretch position is the likely the best setup for growing muscle. So honestly a rack mounted functional trainer is probably pretty optimal for growth being around 40" to 50" wide which should be a little narrower than most people's wingspan and allow for maximum tension and stretch unless you're like 7ft tall with a massive wingspan.
Why would you buy a GRONK branded item, then throw the sticker of him spiking a TD from the GOAT in the trash? I'd buy this one, bc at 6'1 I rarely fit into these types of machines. I'm glad it is wider and taller.
Less likely to buy due to Football logo. Bunch of grown men playing a scripted child’s game and celebrating like they just ended world hunger after catching a ball is WILD.
when he was still on the patriots, gronk fitness pushed a lot of their equipment into Boston Sports Club locations. the bars were all super janky and wildly off balance. hopefully they've improved quality since then
That is EXACTLY the same functionnal trainer we have at my gym, under a different brand name. Also, we bought it for 2000$ canadian shipped (which is like 1500 USD)
I'm shocked that the affiliate link guy didn't say everything on there was stolen from other products and he surprised there was and lawsuits or that this product wasn't dangerous. I guess that other company should have paid the Mafia boss via affiliate links. Now I hear to it's not even on Amazon anymore. And oh yeah a company just said we will pay you to use your name. They could have used Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or whoever and he knows that
Less likely. Not everyone subscribes to football, not thst there is anything wrong with that just that for a gym junkie i do not associate football with my workouts
Totally understandable! As a company our goal isn’t necessarily to cater to sport specific training. We’re looking to produce quality products that can help anybody reach their fitness goals and build a healthier lifestyle! Football is just a big part of our lives 😬 We appreciate your feedback!
This looks like a overseas copy with a sticker put on it... with some things being bad. Like the pull up bar looks terrible. I mean I get people want to profit off using someone's name like a big athlete or something... but there isn't much to this. Like Nike stuff. Hard pass.
That decal has got to go. Not sure why anyone is designing and building home gym equipment without consulting with Coop first. That said, if they're targeting school athletic departments, maybe this is on target for that market.
yeah, why would a rich kid who's dad owns a gym equipment company that went on to make his own fortune in the nfl make a business decision without consulting a youtuber first? 🤣
Rob's Dad Gordon founded G&G Fitness, a company that sells fitness equipment, and has been in the industry his entire career. I really don't want the football logo so glad it is a sticker that i can discard immediately
yeah, not enough oiled up half naked dudes in the logo, get rid of the football logo. give the gym community what they want, naked men.
😂First thought I had.
That logo is obnoxious dog shit imo.
You're not even gonna buy one
That is GRONK spiking a TD, maybe his third one in a superbowl, on a pass from the GOAT. Why would you throw it out? Very disrespectful.

Why doesn't he look into the camera when speaking? Is he trying to be like HGTV? It's weird.
Less likely to buy due to Football logo. Bunch of grown men playing a scripted child’s game and celebrating like they just ended world hunger after catching a ball is WILD.
You complain about the welds, but you don't show closeups of any welds.
when he was still on the patriots, gronk fitness pushed a lot of their equipment into Boston Sports Club locations. the bars were all super janky and wildly off balance. hopefully they've improved quality since then
This is a clone of the Fray Fitness that regular sells for $1500
That is EXACTLY the same functionnal trainer we have at my gym, under a different brand name.
They could have used Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or whoever and he knows that
Agreed
How are you suppose to use free weights with that….
Less likely to buy a brand like this, not because of the football logo, but because it is a "celebrity" brand.
No chance I'd purchase anything from "Gronk".
Hard pass.
"ok... lets get into the review" immediately talk about LMNT.... lame
Less likely
That decal has got to go. Not sure why anyone is designing and building home gym equipment without consulting with Coop first. That said, if they're targeting school athletic departments, maybe this is on target for that market.
yeah, why would a rich kid who's dad owns a gym equipment company that went on to make his own fortune in the nfl make a business decision without consulting a youtuber first? 🤣
It functions
