I didn't watch it when it aired but I think I watched it during the pandemic on a streaming channel and it deserved more seasons and I love Linda Cardellini
One of the most criminally underrated shows ever. Along with every character being realistically fleshed out, Tom Wilson (Biff Tannon from BTTF) as the PE teacher is one of the most heartwarming performances out there.
@@charlottecorday8494 Indeed! Unfortunately I think he was also bullied after BTTF because he played Biff too well for some people. Seems like the nicest guy tho 😆.
Not only one of the best shows ever, but also the best TV dad ever. That episode where Mr. Weir lets Nick stay with them and gives him some advice is one of the best things ever written.
@@keithtorgersen9664They're great, but they're both the "emotional music plays while they give a speech" dads. Mr. Weir was a straight up real person.
I went to the same High School as Paul Feig, the school F&G is based on. Chippewa Valley HS, in Clinton Township Michigan. It’s why the fictitious town the show is set in in called Chippewa. There’s an aerial view of the school on the supplemental features of the DVD. Feig is probably the most famous alum of CVHS, along with Hailey Mathers, Eminem’s daughter.
I remember the DVD being way more expensive than a lot of other shows likely due to them making sure the DVD retained the probably expensive to license music from the broadcast run
I'm a HUGE "Dawson's Creek" fan...so I can't BELIEVE how I totally overlooked that Busy Philipps and Seth Rogen reunited in a 2003 episode of Season 6 called "Rock Bottom"!!!!! They even share a scene I am 100% sure was improvised between the two of them!!!
"Freaks and Geeks" were both terms from carnival side shows. "Freaks" were people with physical deformities and given names like. "The alligator girl" and "The mule faced boy." Geeks were usually severely alcoholic men who would come out nearly nude as "The wild man of Borneo" and bite the heads off of chickens. Yes, carnival side shows were a dark world.
I was late to this show, didn't see it untli the late 00s or so, but my sister-in-law made me watch it with her and I absolutely loved it. That said - FUCK that ending! Sure Sam 'n the boiz had an okay end, along with Daniel and them, but...Linsey becoming a deadhead!? HERESY!
I am surprised...except for maybe 2-4 of those people, I know of ALL of the rest of them...where I'm surprised is 1) How many now famous actors there are in this one TV show, and 2) I had NO idea this show existed, outside of hearing the name of it a few timers!!! If I would've known, I would've watched...I like these actors, and the show seemed like something I would weatch (I was a nerd....erm, STILL a nerd...but I OWN it, lol!)
Man screw tv execs. First they wanted parker lewis to lose more and be more dramatic, then they want the freaks and geeks to win more and be more funny 😅
While I liked this show ok, I enjoyed Judd’s later series Undeclared better. I also was more bummed by My So-Called Life being cancelled than I was Freaks & Geeks. 🤷🏼♀️
It never aired in my country but from what I see here, it seems to neither really relate to geeks nor populars. Also no clear character arcs and too much self inserting. My country has a very different schooling system so the American middle/high school experience is quite alien to us. After elementary school, students get segregated by performance and sent to different types of schools and they really are also physically different ones that different places. There are also no competitive school sports and all the other extracurricular activities usually.
Personally, I have a different theory as to why the show didn't make it. I don't think most people who were unpopular and bullied in high school enjoy reliving that. I don't think most people who were popular relate to it. In short, I don't think it provided the escapism most people are turning to television for.
What do you think?

I agree 👍
Extra awesome because Wilson was bullied horribly as a kid like Bill was so he really related to that character.

It comes from a real place. Thanks for watching
Freaks and Geeks is legit one of the best shows ever made. Love the video!
Yes, it is. Thank you
Loved this show and the use of Joan Jett. Was bummed when it was cancelled. Have it on DVD and this reminded me to rewatch it.
Definitely
I’ve noticed a pattern. Changing the time slot is usually code for “Let’s set this show up to fail”.
Absolutely
Not to mention airing ANYTHING on the death slot that was Saturday nights
@@charlottecorday8494 Indeed. Primetime slots usually on weekdays, late noon to evening.
A few shows were so popular they escaped the time Bs lot shuffle but it’s rare
Oh yeah. Definitely

Awesome episode
Best TV dad is tied between Uncle Phil and Carl Winslow

May have been one of the few people to stay home on a Saturday night to watch this. No regrets!
Awesome same here
Neal Schweiber is my favorite character on the show. He was a lot like I was in high school, with the sharp dressing and the wisecracks and all.
Definitely the best one season show that wasn't a cartoon.
I would kill for a reboot of this where all the original cast are grown ups with kids. Please God, can we have that? 🙏🏻
Yes!!
1 season was PERFECT; we DESERVE a 'reunion show' at the very least
Yes definitely

How could you not mention Paul Feig in Ski Patrol?!? His greatest role ever!
Ah yes Ski Patrol
This was an amazing show for sure. I couldn’t believe how good it was for it to only have the one season
Absolutely

It's definitely because of the music

How can you forget Feig in heavyweights?! Classic film

yeah it was an odd finale because of that.
I can't believe this amazing series came from the mind of the guy who gave us the steaming divisive turd known as Ghostbusters 2016!!!!
I know right, I considered not even mentioning it.
Thanks for the comment.

It's a shame they didn't at least get a second season. Another brilliant series killed by the stupidity of a moron studio executive.
It was such a great show.
