I remember "Townies". Bill Burr was in it or when he did the show he went by Billy. Seen the show herer on UA-cam. Its fun to see some of these actors before they had hit roles or during their prime.
This just reminded me that it's time to bring back Tales from the Crypt. Reboots and legacy sequels are everywhere now and nothing is easier to reboot (in concept, at least) than an anthology series. Let's get some shovels and dig up the Cryptkeeper.
Tales from the Crypt is plagued in copyright problems which would make a revival incredibly difficult. The rights are split between multiple entities with the Cryptkeeper puppet alone having its rights independently owned. This is the same reason it isn't streaming anywhere even on HBO.
@@manueltapia1859 I remember the Christmas episode where (spoilers) he couldn't prevent one guy's death but their death led to a new heart for a child in need of a new heart
Dark Skies was to The X-Files what Webster was to Diff'rent Strokes. I saw ONE episode of Meego and I thought Bronson Pinchot was playing a mix of Mr. Belvedere and Third Rock from the Sun. Weird fact... the BBC considered suing UPN, since several of the writers on Homeboys In Outer Space were in the writer's room for the failed the Red Dwarf U.S.A. pilot. Laqueita bore a bit too many similarities to Holly and Android was basically Kryten.
I never watched any of these shows, but I heared about the shows "Roar," "Homeboys in outerspace," Dark Skies,"and "Lost on Earth," Which I remember the last of those because it was played with the show "Claude's crib", which I'm honestly very surprised was not mentioned on this show.
lol, I didn't realize Kerri Russell was in so many different shows before hitting it off in Felicity. Odd that when she played the attractive character (obvious) the show failed, but the one time she played the "nerd" in Felicity , the show took off. All part of the 90s trend of lazily trying to make attractive women look "nerdy" then the hot guy realizes what a babe she really was!
22:45 Curious. I definitely was watching Moesha and Homeboys In Outer Space at this time (I was actually randomly discussing Homeboys with someone the other day, lol). However, I have zero memory of The Burning Zone.
I remember most of these shows, but I think this was the era I was watching less tv and hanging out with the wrong crowd haha. Can’t wait till you get to the 2000’s and you talk about Cleopatra 2525 😆
I remember watching Dark Skies and Homeboys in Outer Space when they were on, originally. Perversions of Science I caught later, when I saw it was a slightly more softcore version of Welcome to Paradox.
I had no idea Ron Johnson from a Different World went on to star in Homeboys from Outerspace - what a funky show . Gotta hand it to the 90s, they took risks
Perversions Of Science Ruled! It definitely made the Summer of '97 very entertaining - along with the animated shows Spawn and criminally short lived Spicy City. HBO just sermed to get Gen Xers back then.
23:58 Oh! Homeboys? Really? I don’t consider that series to be a failure because I loved it so much, lol. Here for only a short time, but left an impression on me even all these years later. As I mentioned in another comment a few minutes ago, I was randomly talking to somebody about Homeboys in Outer Space just the other day. 😂😂😂
Mentioning May 19th for when The Cape aired it's last episode, and the wrestling fan in me laughed. If you don't get it, look up May 19th Kane, and you'll understand. 😉😂🤣 As for these shows, The Burning Zone, found 3 of them on Internet Archives, and everything else, between UA-cam, Internet Archives, and in the case for Dark Skies, not so legal streaming services, was able to find them, which is good, as some of these has me curious, but never seen any of them. However, 1997, I wasn't even a year old yet. Yeah, we reached the year I was born. Anyways, thank you, enjoyed the video.
My parents would never pay for movie channels, so I never saw Perversions of Science. I remember liking Dark Skies and The Burning Zone. I don't remember watching Townies, Lost on Earth, The Cape, Roar, or Meego.
Vivica A. Fox is pure class and has one of the most irresistible chemistries I've ever seen in my life. It's so baffling she never became the biggest star back in the day, she just made so many bad decisions in the roles she took. Maybe she had a really awful agent.
Dark Skies could have started the "I'm not saying it's aliens, but it's aliens" meme. RIP J.T. Walsh, one of the best movie bad guys. The less said about Perversions of Science, the better. I don't remember any smutty humor on Meego. All I do remember is Meego talking to a dog - by barking - and, in a Halloween episode, the little boy floating and his head spinning around. Speaking of fever dreams, it's good to know Lost on Earth was real. I couldn't remember the title and nobody I mentioned it to had ever heard of it. I guess I'm not crazy.
I remember Dark Skies quite well. My friends all said it was one of the many ripoffs of the X Files after that started getting popular, but I'm convinced that with it's focus on historical footage being manipulated, it was actualy a ripoff of... Forrest Gump. I'm not sure many people remember what it was like when Forrest Gump was shown meeting Kennedy and all that, people went absolutely bonkers! It really felt like they tried doing a sci-fi version, but it was just too goofy to take seriously.
I do not konw how "Homeboys in Outer Space" made it past the draft phase. UPN didn't learn their lesson because less than a year after cancelling that show to greenlight "The Secret Diaries of Desmond Pfeifer." The execs were out of their mind. NBC Saturday nights in the mid to late 1990s was pivotal in my development. I love The Pretender and Dark Skies because I had crushes on Michael T. Weiss and Eric Daly respectively. I wanted to be a pyschological profiler because of "Profiler."
Me neither, and 1997 is a year that I remember very fondly. Only heard of "Homeboys in Outer Space" in passing and knew that Arsenio Hall had a talk show for a spell (as did Chevy Chase). edit: scratch that, it was an Arsenio sitcom. So no, zero recollection.
SCI-FI KNOCK OFF?! Invasion was a great series, I don't know what you're talking about!! Especially for the time I rewatch it time to time & it's still good.
Yeah I remember perversions of science.. the one where the guy goes crazy during a simulation of an outbreak was my favorite I remember hearing of dark skies, never watched it. I did not learn of or watch Roar, till it was on Scifi in early 00s. Only know Homeboys in outer space from similar lists of terrible 1 season forgotten shows
I remember the burning Zone that actually was a pretty good series but the problem was too many people compared it to the X-Files viruses instead of aliens or Monsters but it just didn't click with audiences ask for homeboys in outer space that is just a really bad knockoff a red dwarf
Just an opinion but I think you need to talk just a bit faster and not sound so robotic. I think you'll find you get more views and people will watch from beginning to end.
My opinion is you aren't robotic, not monotone or dull, drowning, low emotion, and you speak at a rate that is normal human. Stay with what you are doing. There are other channels that are WAY MORE robotic.
You can increase the playback speed in settings...try it at 1.25 maybe that will make it easier for ya (I personally keep it at 1.25 only lower in certain cases)
Do you remember watching any of these?
I loved Perversions of Science
I really enjoyed Dark Skies! One of multiple shows starring Eric Close that sadly failed including Now And Again.
Creepshow has been running for past several years. :)
Tales from the Crypt is plagued in copyright problems which would make a revival incredibly difficult. The rights are split between multiple entities with the Cryptkeeper puppet alone having its rights independently owned. This is the same reason it isn't streaming anywhere even on HBO.
I was in high school in 1997
I graduated that year.
Me in Junior High the worst years because I was bullyied back then 😮
Great video! Keep up the good work!
We love hearing that! Thanks for watching and for commenting too!
A TV show I hear nobody talk about is Early Edition, the one where the guy gets the newspaper ahead of time so he can help prevent major incidents.
That was a good premise
It had some seasons 🎉 even there was a two part episode tittled Fatal Edition where Gary is framed with a murder 😮
I liked the series. I didn’t watch all of it, but the episodes that I did watch I remember liking.
oh man, I had forgotten about that one!
@@manueltapia1859 I remember the Christmas episode where (spoilers) he couldn't prevent one guy's death but their death led to a new heart for a child in need of a new heart
I like the idea of Dark Skies, pretty ambitious to have this multi decade sci-fi plot, clearly it didn't pan out though sadly
It could've been big if done right
Forget Ringwald was that Bill Burr at 5:50 Lauren Graham is sitting on his lap. Billy with hair too 😆🤣🤣🤣
Dark Skies left a lasting impact for me. I'm writing a novel and the MC is named Loenguard, in honor of John Lonegard from the show
Good luck with your fan fiction. Worked for Stephanie Miller.
@cookieanddabutt2843 It's not fan fiction. I took inspiration from the... You know, never mind. I can't be bothered
I’m addicted to these!! Keep up the great work.

Flops of the 90s series = Tops of my tops!
Wow, I very, very vaguely remember Homeboys From Outer Space. It's hard to forget a title like that!
I never watched any of these shows, but I heared about the shows "Roar," "Homeboys in outerspace," Dark Skies,"and "Lost on Earth," Which I remember the last of those because it was played with the show "Claude's crib", which I'm honestly very surprised was not mentioned on this show.
I've honestly not heard of that show. Thanks
Meego looks like a Mork & Mindy clone ! Poor guy kept trying to recreate that perfect strangers magic
I take it Sleepwalkers is going to appear in a future video?
You got it
lol, I didn't realize Kerri Russell was in so many different shows before hitting it off in Felicity. That's probably a good thing
All 3 of that NBC Thriller block was amazing. The Pretender is on of my favorite shows
I remember most of these shows, but I think this was the era I was watching less tv and hanging out with the wrong crowd haha. Can’t wait till you get to the 2000’s and you talk about Cleopatra 2525 😆

Dark skies scared the crap out of me as a kid in an existential dread kind of way.
Perversions Of Science Ruled! It definitely made the Summer of '97 very entertaining - along with the animated shows Spawn and criminally short lived Spicy City. HBO just sermed to get Gen Xers back then.

Yeah, it really lands in the " Short-lived " category, such a funny out of the box show
That robot creeps me out. 😅

I remember Homeboys from Outer Space! I loved that show!
These are some star studded faulted shows. Pretty wild that a lot of these didn’t catch on.
I wonder if that series the cape , used the same soundstage as Kubrick did where he filmed the moon landing in 1969. That be a neat Easter egg
That's a great question

I can definitely agree with all that. Now i'm curious I might dive into that agent theory.
I don't get why the show was called Arsenio but his character name is Michael? That's just weird
I watched several of these but particularly loved ROAR.
Dark Skies could have started the "I'm not saying it's aliens, but it's aliens" meme. RIP J.T. Walsh, one of the best movie bad guys.
The less said about Perversions of Science, the better.

the eldest son in Meego did the voice of Sid in all those toy story movies :D
I never watched any of these shows. In fact, the only ones I’ve heard of were Dark Skies and Homeboys in Outer Space.
Home boys from Outer space was fun to watch.
I remember Lost on Earth and it should never been canceled in the first place. 😀👍
Honestly the cape sounds like a show that would work today but only if it got shonda-fied
I remember Dark Skies quite well. My friends all said it was one of the many ripoffs of the X Files after that started getting popular, but I'm convinced that with it's focus on historical footage being manipulated, it was actualy a ripoff of... Roar! :D I remember that show! I was indeed sad when it ended. I had no idea Heath Ledger was in it!
High quality episodes on UA-cam
the third kid on Meego was Erik Von Detten. He was a big teen heart throb at the time.
Yeah the kid from Brink! Glad you noticed! He disappears after the pilot episode.
Anybody remember the series The Cape (2011)? It starred David Lyons, Summer Glau & Keith David?

Townies seems like it was ahead of its time. Probably would've been a success in the late 2000s
I loved Dark Skies! A great idea that never got a decent chance.
SCI-FI KNOCK OFF?! Invasion was a great series, I don't know what you're talking about!! Especially for the time I rewatch it time to time & it's still good.
I don't remember any of them coming over here
Perversions of Science should never been canceled in the first place. 😀👍
Homeboys in outer space… YIKES lmao
Townies sounds like it had potential. So does The Cape.
Where is Gary Sinise??? Was showed in the miniature 😅
I forgot all about Homeboys in Outer Space and that's ok.
I loved Roar...
Yeah I remember perversions of science.. the one where the guy goes crazy during a simulation of an outbreak was my favorite
I remember hearing of dark skies, never watched it.

5:25 5:50 Bill Burr!
I don’t remember the LaQuasia character
At all
Oh that's surprising! They took that TV with them all over the place. If I had a Loquatia I'd get a lot more done around here. - Milky Ray 😅👍
Did Solo rip off Homeboys from Outerspace?
Only show i remember is homeboys from outerspace that show was dead on arrival and was never going to succeed
I like Homeboys in Outer Space and it should never been canceled in the first place. 😀👍👽
very funny show
@@TheReviewStudios I agree. 😀👍👽
There are dozens of us!
Seriously tho, I didn't think anyone else remembered that show but me
Nah, man.😂
the tv show "Lost on Earth" will be perfect for today brain rot kids on youtube.
Definitely
it's why i can't stand Friends. predictable humor.

Don’t listen to this you have a good voice for a narrator
You can increase the playback speed in settings...try it at 1.25 maybe that will make it easier for ya (I personally keep it at 1.25 only lower in certain cases)
