    I always rode bicycles in the NYC and one day my father himself a motorcycle 1990 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 for commute to his work. And I decided why not and try it out. However, it broke exactly when I decided to ride it. So I had to postpone it till my father could fix it. After a while I stopped waiting and started fixing it myself. After fixing it, it finally started. I felt so good after making this bike working. Then when my father checked it, he let me ride it. He told me the basics, and I started learning. I'm still riding it , and made already 4000 miles on it over two seasons.

      @@Theillestrator1050 He just gave it to me. He still owns it, but I mostly ride it. I'm not like a fanatic biker or something, I just use it because it is practical in NYC, easy to park, and can get through traffic. In addition, in our family we need two vehicles, and at the moment we have only a car and a bike.

    I got my first motorcycle when the April winter struck in Scotland. All I could do is stare at it for weeks. The brand new battery managed to die and I had to push start it on my first proper ride. But oh my god did it feel good once I got going.

    • @Theillestrator1050
      @Theillestrator1050  6 років тому

      Oh noooo, I can imagine the anxiety. Atleast you had the knowledge of how to push start early on. I remember walking the bike 2 miles because it didnt have enough power to start. I only realized much later that if the lights have power you can push start it. Great workout lol.

    I remember my dad buying my first bike for completing the MSF course when I was 17, it was about a month since I had ridden and the course was the first time ever riding. No one in my family ever rode, so it was all up to me. Luckily I didn't stall and I remember when I hit my first pull off from a red light going like 30 mph and I just started fist pumping because I was so hype, the feeling was amazing. I bet I looked dumb tho lol.
    My second bike I bought myself after saving almost every penny from my delivery job, and it was a Ninja 650. Never rode a sport bike, or a bike that powerful before, almost died a few times, but man was it a memory I'll never forget.

    Great story of your bike intro. One of my buddies bought a basket case Honda 305 and some parts. We put it together in his front yard on the lawn, lost uncounted bolts in the grass. Think we pushed it up the hill about 20 times trying to get it going before we figured out the ignition problem. That's what I learned on and later bought an SL350 Honda, rode it to Colorado.

    Getting my first bike in a few months, a Suzuki DRZ400SM and it will be winter by the time I save up for it but I'm not letting mother nature stop me. I'm paying cash for a brand new one. This is the best medicine I can have as an escape without drinking, doing drugs or smoking that can cure the amount of depression I'm having by working so much, the initial stages of depression moving to a new country (I moved to US from Bangladesh, a country located east of India) not having a social life or friends and having a serious crush on a girl that left me. I can still live and enjoy my life without relying on friends and can just go out whenever I want, ride and forget the hard part of life for a while. Sure, it won't replace the feeling of that girl leaving me, in fact I don't think anything in this world will ever replace it, not even winning a billion dollar and I will never fall in love with another girl the way I did with her (of course it's possible to like another person but I doubt it will come close to the first "real love" as cliche as it sounds) but it can at least help masking and fading it.
    My dad used to ride a 80's Honda back in my country when he was a police officer and I guess that's what got me interested into motorcycles. Fun fact: Honda is basically the nickname for motorcycles in my country just like coke is the nick name for sodas in many places including mine.
    To me it's insane to even think about emptying out the bank account with whole year's savings working a minimum wage job 40-50 hours a week for 7-10 months and not having a life. But when you've been planning for this moment for your whole life and it's not just something you got into a few years ago just for the sake of having a hobby, it's more like opening up a new chapter in your life that you will look back in the future.

    • @Theillestrator1050
      @Theillestrator1050  6 років тому

      The great thing about bikes is that you'll pick one up and start to attract people that ride. I mention in the video that I didnt know anyone who rode bikes which is why I had to take the classes....nowadays I can get a bike in an hours notice if I ever need one from any of the great people i've met. The bike will definitely bring you joy on the ride, and working on the bike/modifying it will bring you a sense of purpose in the tough mental times where you just need to do something productive and not think about the bad, but life itself will bring you kin

      @thumpertorque_ 6 років тому

      + - The illestrator - Thanks, that really lightened up my mood and it's a big positive thing. It definitely is one of the best hobbies that lets you interact with people in the real world and make friends easily just because you share the same passion unlike other hobbies like video games which does the exact opposite, not go outside and only make friends online who you probably won't get to see in person (as much as I love video games, especially racing simulators).

    • @Dashitishere22

      You should definitely consider a used one.
      It's not like the drz400 gives you any extra bells and whistles for being newer since it's still the same old tried and true carbureted 400 suzuki has been. running for ages.

    I started riding in ‘92.
    Many years later, having a mid life crisis,
    I purchased a 2012 Harley 103ci Street Glide.
    My mother helped me get my first bike and she went with me when I got my Harley.
    We both signed up for the MSF, her because she’d never ridden and me for the discount and overall improved skills.
    Of course I rode my Harley to class and yeah, the other people in class were fairly blown away.

I’m from NY to currently living in pa but just seeing home, the first video was very satisfying. When I compare the two, your editing has definitely evolved. You are the next Morgan freedmen, God lol!!!! Dog your editing is all that. I send your videos out to all of my peoples, but like you said, “ it better not take another month”. Part two I need it.

    I started out on 125cc Chinese bike because I just wanted something to drive me from A to B and on my country (Colombia) yo don't pay taxes for bikes under 125cc but then I realized it was to slow, then after six months I purchased a ninja 250 2017 model, basically same as the Ninja 300 but with less engine displacement, its been a really fun experience and since I'm in a big city, traffic tends to be a pain so having anything with more cylinders it would make you be in first gear all the time so for now I'm happy with it. Btw I've been watching your videos for quite some time and you really put out great quality content, keep it up man.

      I can definitely relate when it comes to traffic but I love having the power to overtake and jump ahead when at stoplights so I prefer a faster bike. I tend to take off hard from stoplights because I want to get away from the cars behind me. But I know you're probably saving alot of gas with the 250 lol. Thanks for watching

      @@Theillestrator1050 yeah, the thing is I was able to to test drive a Ducatti súpersport which is 900cc and now I definitely want a bigger bike, like you said, getting away from cars at a stoplight can really save you lots of headaches, I will finish with this bike for maybe a year or so and then I will get something bigger, like a 2009 r6 which is like five grand second handed, I definitely though 250 was enough but after being able to ride a high cc bike it's like yo know a completely different video altogether.

    Good video as always reminds me It's only been a year for me. I been through so much with my first bike. I had my first crash on it. It has gone through so much transformation. I feel like it's at its peak form, but that's it no more modifications, just sticking to regular maintenance. Already set roots with my first bike or first vehicle (never owned a car) but time for a new bike, but not this year probably.

    Judging from how the brake fluid reservoir is sitting, those handlebars look like they were rotated forward a bit, perhaps to stretch out the feel of handling them while riding. Did you end up keeping them at that angle, or rotate them backwards?

    This is how I got my start. So I've been wanting a bike for years and finally had the money to get a 03 Honda shadow spirit 750. Called up the local dealer (since I knew I wouldn't be buying something that needs work) asked them if they had it still and they did so the next day I went and got my permit, got the bike immediately after and now have had it for over a month and have my riding test Friday

    Great video, and I can't believe how easy everything is in the USA.

    No wonder it's unappealing to young people.

      Right? It's really a wonder how exactly the laws have remained so relaxed. I dont want to jinx it, but I almost expected some states to change to a class system like Europe. There's a fantastic true crime channel called 'Deadbug says'
      (very highly recommended incidentally - it's as unique as a channel could be, and the production values are out of this World) and he's great with shout out to his subscribers, but I was caught off guard by that.
      It's great that you interact with subscribers - it adds to the community feel, and it suits your easy going style.
      Regarding the test situation - it's prohibitively expensive, and the tests are difficult.
      Obviously motorcycles can be dangerous, but there's a disparity between the driving test and the motorcycle tests.
      I kinda agree with the fact that younger motorcyclists are limited to what they can ride, but it should be exactly the same with cars.*
      In the UK if your parents can afford the insurance, you could drive a Lamborghini at 18, and that can't be right.
      In fact when I was a lot younger I knew a guy who was insured to drive his Dad's Lamborghini for his 21st birthday.
      It makes the fact that American young people often ride illegally all the more baffling - you alluded to that in your video, because you've gone about it the right way.
      *I'm not even going to attempt to explain the UK test system, but you'll find it online if you're interested - the DVLA website will explain it. Nice talking to you again - stay safe and keep it the right way up✌️
