    quote from creator: "This is my graduation project, a personal project created using Unreal Engine 5.1 with a production period of approximately 8 months. The camera was created using VirtualCamera, and simulations using Houdini were used for the rivers and waterfalls. The house model was created using Maya and textured using Substance 3D Painter."

      @@MikkoRantalainen There are definitely a majority of store quixel scans in there I recognize, so definitely not true that the entire scene is modeled, that would be literally impossible, especially in that time-frame from a student. Doesn't seem like anything is modeled besides the houses and a few textures that seemed low res. Cool project altogether, hard to believe this took 8 months, especially for a graduation project that is usually 3-4 months max. Japan must be different when it comes to project timelines for students, must be nice! lol.

      If I walk around, I don't notice the motion blur, because I don't look through a window. My eyes can only have the *one * focus, that is where my vision centers at.
      Using eye tracking and adapting the motion blur focus to where you are looking at would make it better but if I'm looking around the scenery when the camera moves, it just hurts the eye.
      Same for me with the fish eye effect in this video. My eyes already do that, so why does the camera have to fake it? It feels wrong.

    This is one, if not THE, best environment I've seen in Unreal. The level design, the lighting, the sound design. Everything is amazing. It's not quite "photo realistic" because of a few small things, but I don't even think that's a bad thing. There is a slight stylization to it that makes it even more intriguing. It's like a dream world you want to explore. Amazing work

    This may be the best thing I saw being done with UE5 yet. Must have taken you a long time to create. Everything is absolutely packed with details but it's still calm and there is little stories. Two points that reminded me that it's not real after watching it for a while: 1.the water is good but it still doesn't feel real and the color might be a bit much. 2. Virtual shadow maps fading and popping.(epic needs to fix this soon just to honor your work!)

You get up, greeted by that stunning view, surrounded by the richness of natures sounds, birds chirping, leaves rustling in the wind, the waterfall rushing in the distance, the sun warming through the perfectly blue sky, the air being the perfect temperature between the rock formations and the water keeping the area just cool enough so you don't sweat.

    Aside from the sometimes VERY believable graphics and lighting, the two things that really sell the physicality of this space are the sound design and the choice to move around in the environment in a believable way. So many others would swoop and dart a disembodied camera around just to show everything off, but physically walking around, complete with material-specific audio (the footsteps), really sells it. Nice work.

For example, water from a very tall waterfall eventually slows down from air resistance and becomes almost like a misty rain at the bottom. Wow, absolutely beautiful. Makes me want to put on a VR headset and just walk around there for hours. Excellent work! Did you render this in Movie Render Queue with temporal anti-aliasing? I wonder if that would have made the waterfall look even more realistic since it's moving so fast (it seemed like some of the particles had motion blur and some did not).

    Pros: superb. Unreal, yet real. The details; contrast; water wow.
    Cons: the good bits are immense. But there are some refinements: the place maybe still (although expect waterfall to cause some turbulent air) the trees look so still, and yet leaves are falling, and yet nothing collecting on the floor. The beautiful overgrown yet used feeling, but the pristine glass and straight window don’t match.
    Not much to comment on - so idyllic. And the grand opening at the end is a great touch.

      You aren't going to get finished games with these types of graphics. The amount of work that goes into creating a function game off an engine is so much work. I worked with Vjass used to code for and mod for warcraft 3 work with random people in the community on projects for many years. It's not easy work. The more you fit into graphics the less you get out of actual gameplay. So if you want a complex system that revolves around a character in a open world experience you have to take away from graphics. Anthem and Cyberpunk are clear examples of this.

    It really looks amazing. Awesome! Although I have an issue with the waterfall there. It looks like it has too much speed. By the law of physics, every object, regardless of its weight falls at a speed of 9.8 m/s/s if there is no air resistance. So tiny drops of water would even fall slower, with rising warm air (because of the sun) from below. And the 2nd issue (because of the falling water) is, that the amount of water falling into the creek has to come out with the same speed it poured in. Therefore the watermill must spin faster than it does. The creek is too narrow to hold the entire mass of water. In order for it to slow down, either the creek must be wider (to distribute the water mass) or less water must pour into the stream (Issue 1). Last things which distracted me a bit where the sounds. Some where to loud, to present (like the wood of the boat and part of the wind and flags). They could be a little more subtle, so they wouldn't get so much attention. The graphics, the composings and the amount of details you put in, are absolutely astonishing! Great job!

    • @Landgraf43
      @Landgraf43 Рік тому

      What you are talking about isn't the maximum velocity that it can reach but the acceleration it can experience.
      The velocity of a falling object only depends on its initial velocity and the falling time. If an object falls from rest, then its velocity after t seconds is:
      v = 9.8 × t
      So if we want to know how fast an object can fall without experiencing air resistance, we only need to know how long it falls.
      To give an example, if an object falls from rest for 10 seconds, then its velocity at the end is:
      v = 9.8 × 10 = 98 m/s
