I really like these battle reports. Just gameplay, no banter. Even though the banter in real life games is part of the fun, in battle reports I find it distracting. These are great to learn the game.
I have seen almost every of your reports, it's been a pleasure all along! You progressed with every game, in gameplay and presentation! Well done 😉
As you said at the end, I think the Dwarfs biggest weakness is their difficulty finishing off units.
IMO the best unit for thr Dwarfs is the Gyrocopter. Not for it's shooting. People focus too much on that. For their combat and ability to run units down and wipe them out.
If you take a few single gyros you can charge flanks and rears, adding to CR and have multiple quickstride persuits when the opponent flees. Adding US also increases the likelihood of a double US autobreak.
I know youre waiting for official models, so im looking forward to seeing what you can do with them.
The Anvil Magic Missile is also great for knocking off the last few models of a unit. If you can keep it out of combat.
Anvil is toooooo expensive
3 Gyro unit is 👍👍👍👍👍
Unless you are against vampire counts with these stupid cheap ethereal characters that can zone you out
I love the Shaman on the carpet getting caught 😂
Serves him right.
Good stuff, super detailed & thought out rationale for each turn. Many thanks, keep ‘em coming chum!
Nice report. I think that collectively your Dwarf reports materially demonstrate what dwarf players identified intuitively at launch about the weaknesses of the current dwarf rules. I still plan to buy the new rulebook and some models I dont own, but the dwarves really need some help!
Gyrocopters have been removed from the Gw Website for weeks in the U.S. Not even just out of stock, fully removed weeks ago.
Very interesting they decided to re-stock them here.
weird seeing goblinoid army smaller than Dwarves!
Yeeee, the cannon era begins, prepare for a golden age
Andy, may i suggest you try a hammerer death star?
King, bsb and runesmith with 2 stacked banners, a nice artillery corner, and your loyal rangers
I think I'd have to go full-on corner camp for such a death star to see any action, and I'm not sure I want to resort to that yet.
Good game again, thanks for another fun watch. Some good warhammery moments with things getting unexpectedly run down etc.
I know your engineer got killed pretty early, but in any case I think he needs more to do than reroll 1s for a unit of quarrelers - feels like a nice option to have if they spike a whole load of ones, but otherwise it's not achieving much. Also I was very much one of the people wondering about the deployment of the irondrakes. Not sure it really worked out, but deployment often feels really difficult! Finally got some 'counts as' irondrakes on order, hoping they turn out to fit the bill when they land. Will keep watching how you get on with different unit sizes. That chap who does well at square based events seems to have gone up to 10 which is interesting.
The Irondrakes weren't too concerned with having some of their line of sight blocked, since the Troll Hag is a large target. I usually run them in front, but I wanted them free to shoot over the battle into either of the enemy large targets later on.
In certain match-ups, the Engineer will also have a nearby machine (in this list, a cannon) to help with misfires. For this particular game I liked the idea of a flank cannon, so he was a bit more limited.
Yes I can see they managed to do a job. Always feels a bit of a shame if they don't get charged by anything they can hurt though! It did of course work out with the ironbreakers getting to take the charge with the grenades being a bit of a bonus. Felt like a bit of a mistake perhaps from your opponent though can see he would want to get everything into combat asap.
I guess his usefulness will just depend on how often you end up deploying one way as opposed to the other. He's missing his organ gun(s) though.
Started painting the dragon company this week - the first dwarfs I ever got. Though that only means they've been waiting for perhaps 37 years while most of the rest have waited 36.
Aren't the thresholds for efficiency depending on wounds connected to % of wounds inflicted on a monster? For example it loses some stats when taken below half wounds, like in 40k?
In that case it isn't more informative to count them up, it provides the same information abouut reaching the threshold or not whether you count up or down. So it is still better to show wounds remaining to you see if a monster is below half starting wounds and to see how many more need to be inflicted to kill it.
In AoS, it'll tell you the new stats after the monster has taken x number of wounds. Not remaining wounds. So it just makes it a bit more awkward.
Can a dwarf hero take common magic items? If so, a rune smith with the auto dispel runes?
Hard for enemy wizard to stay out of dispel range.
Dwarfs can't take common magic items.
If the trolls fail stupidity and move into hammers, does that count as a charge?
Dont they have to stop 1 inch before?
Upon closer inspection, it appears that a unit moving with Stupidity would stop 1" away. I have removed the comments where I was talking about this incorrectly. I'm currently seeking a page reference for 100% confirmation.
Didn't know Russell brand plays Warhammer
Maybe a more stylish and sophisticated version.
I spy a saurus arm.
Sorry. Missed this live.
Unacceptable behaviour.
Look out sir? Since the vortex is a template? Just a guess
I'm not clear on whether a vortex counts as a shooting attack, but you might have something there.
@@Andy2D6 Happens in a shooting phase, as you know, Mr 2D6
Just checked in with a wise council, and Look Out Sir only helps if you're IN the unit, rather than next to it.
When will we see an anvil of doom again? It really is very powerful and not that costy
We'll definitely see it again soon. I'm gonna keep trying out different combos. The next book might open up some interesting things too.
😎😎
When dwarves release I’m spending so much money. As a new player would love someone to guide me on what to buy. When pre orders are announced could you provide some guidance
That's a good idea. The caveat will be that I can't speak with ultimate authority until I have access to the new Arcane Journal, but I can definitely do a video looking through the wave of releases and rating them as things stand.
@@Andy2D6 that would be greatly appreciated. I’d be playing for fun, but a nice well rounded 2000 point army would be great. A shooty one ideally. Top man
Get 2+ cannons, 2+ gyros, rangers and hammerers, safe picks 😉
