@@rogueelementgamingI agree with him most battle reports are unwatchable. For some reason yours is very watchable! I don't even know how or where to direct the compliment. It's just good.
Awesome armies and game! :D Love the match up. As some had mentioned the bow doesn't reroll ones, but a big change to edition was the Ballistic Skill chart, which allows you to reroll misses if you have a certain score and modifiers don't apply to the reroll. A prince at BS 7 can reroll any misses and on a 5+ they will hit. It has taken me a bit to get used that change. Elves also have Elven Reflexes and get +1 initiative on the first round of combat, so a great weapon unit wouldn't strike before them on the first round generally (though a flank charge bump in initiative would have them striking at the same time). That all being said, the amount of work and love you put into these reports shows and is appreciated! (Also the amount of rules for all the armies you play between 6th/ToW is a lot haha). YES!!! Rogue Element is back!! Great Battle Report (as always)! I always love how these games are competitive without being power-gamey. Love the classic High Elf army (I am biased in this regard though). (Notwithstanding the confusion regarding the objective) that High Elf player was extremely patient; I don't know if I could've sat back that long after seeing one turn of organ gun firing (maybe the "most disappoinitng of cannon" - itself so close to redemption with that "almost flank shot" on the Silver Helms - gave him hope)! You should maybe look into investing in some hammerers (I'm finding Dwarfs struggle with output in this edition) and drilled across the army, if you plan on playing as aggressive as you were here.
The only thing I would consider is having drilled on the units you want to get into combat quickly , it would allow you to move 9” (if in marching column) per turn and still be able to charge when in range, I also think smaller units eg 10/12 are more effective in this edition for elite units! Anyway great to have another old world battle report to watch , very enjoyable!

Also - 1:40:10 - since the archers have earthern ramparts, your miners have to discard their highest die on the charge roll as well as -1 to movement, since it counts as difficult terrain when charged. They get the usual disrupted charge too, which means no initiative bonus. Also, if you dispel a remains in play spell, it cannot be recasted that same turn. Sorry - one more thing - as hilarious as your quad misfires were - a 2-4 on the misfire table means you cannot fire until after the end of the next round, not turn. It's pretty brutal and means you're 2 turns out of shooting with the machine :(
@@erichung4737 low linear objects cause disruption which is no rank bonus. You’re thinking of disordered (unable to align on charge for example) which has the no I bonus from charge.

Just played against chaos dwarfs and I’m sure my opponent had weighted dice the number of direct hits he rolled! The randomness is part of what makes warhammer fantasy so fun
As always a brilliant game and report - thanks! Don’t have my book to hand for a page reference, but I’m pretty sure that you only need to match the casting value of a remains in play spell when dispelling it in future turns, rather than exceeding the casting value; the exceeding when dispelling part comes in with exceeding the casting roll when dispelling when a spell is initially cast.
At 1:46:20 you posted, the charging dwarfs and elves should have attacked at the same time because of both having Initiative 4. But you did it right, the elvish reflexes are +1 ini in 1st round of combat.
Just a couple of notes on the fight between the eagle and thunderers. You do not need to have +5 US to claim flank bonus only to claim the closed order bonus. You missed the close order bonus for the thunderers so it worked out OK. However, when they did fbigo, they should have pivoted around the center of the unit and then move directly away from the center of the eagle. This would have made them form up two to three inches further away. It would not have affected the battle anyway. The cover for shooting is checked on a per model basis: some archers in a unit may not have any visibility, others partial cover, some full cover and others may shoot without any cover penalty at all.
Was just looking for your latest video and hazzah! Stos, you should be attempting to dispel vortexes in your turn during the confirmation phase. You only need to beat natural casting value. Also, drilled is a must for combat blocks, not just to gain frontage but to allow you to form into a marching column and march 9"

Would be really nice to play with you in person, but your place is sooo far away ^^ Kind regards FA
I definitely missed the other HE battle report, I had awaited this grudge match so long!! Question, in HE turn 3, the eagles+ cavalry combat, shouldn’t you have fbigo instead of fleeing? You didn’t make your modified leadership, but you made your unmodified?
Missed a few missile to-hit modifiers I think, -1 multi-shot from bolt throwers, -1 at bolt thrower as skirmisher... a lot to remember. Best if both players have a quick pre-turn 1 chat and confirm they both know the victory conditions, turn count, terrain features, etc.
Definitely missed the multi-shot modifier for the bolt throwers, but shooting at war machines doesn't incur the -1 for shooting at skirmishers as all models in the unit need to be unit str 1 pg 185, and war machines have a unit str of their starting wounds pg 197.

@elmo1234 I agree. I have had some fine games of The Old World, but also experienced some pretty dismal rules interactions. 6th hits the sweet spot for what I love about Warhammer. If I never have to fight back to back to back lists with a nigh unkillable lord on a flying beastie, that would be just great. 🙃
I think with the mystical travel thing, when moving the bolt thrower, they can't move again is written like that specifically because they can shoot .. it doesn't gain the "moved" keyword, it just can't move, but can infact still shoot, otherwise like zero benefit for such a low cast chance is dumb 😅 Also, with the Skirmishers into the grudge thrower, seems unfair they can't form onto the crew!?
This was played correctly, as per the faq. Any time/ thing that picks up a model and moves it counts as having "moved." Warmachine crew essentially don't exist in game terms in TOW. They're just wound markers and don't interact with the game in any other way.
Not sure about the ruling. What's with the Elven Prince not being able to take a second magic weapon? Even if prevented from taking two such from high elf magic item list, could he have not replaced that foe blade with some common one, like ogre blade? Had the points. Unless the blunder's been made decidedly non-refundable :D
"a model can only purchase one magic item from each category." Limitations & Uniqueness pg 337. So one item from the Magic Weapons category, Magic Amour category etc. However I've just learnt this does not apply to Extremely Common Magic Items marked with an (*) So something like the Sword of Striking would be fine. The more you know!
@@rogueelementgaming From the same entry, right below: "There are, of course, exceptions to this rule of uniqueness. These are magic items carried by named characters and items considered to be 'extremely common'.", The way I understand it is that you can only take one non-common magic item per category, but you can also pick extremely common ones on top. As to follow the rule from pg.338 about declaring which magic weapon the hero uses if they have more than 1, since they can only use one per 'phase'. Old World Builder seems to confirm it, leaving extremely common magic items still available after picking the common/army ones.
Can someone tell me what the elven Lord took to shoot like this?! Its very cool, first unit that make a impact with shooting xD (I look at you cannon!) 😁😬
I always loved high elves, but they always felt too expensive in their points for their ability to actually cause wounds when compared to dwarves, especially the thunderers vs archers, but its fun to watch this report
Pretty sure you don't get to reroll 1s in shooting with "Bow of Avelorn". Its just "Ithilmar weapons" in close combat. Rella enjoy the batrep though and those retro High elves are smoking (I´m trying to acquire a similar army but im at half of this force). I lack the silver helms, spearmen, shadow warriors, swordmasters and a bolt thrower. Really love the silver helms though if i had them I´d be content for sure.
Great game! Shame about the scenario but the game is as complicated as we want it which comes with misread rules and mistakes as we learn! No to worry you gave me an amusing watch while feeding my newborn haha
@@Jimmyjazz1414you've misunderstood totally my dude. In the game they rightly point out that the Elf Prince has both the Reaver Bow and the Foe Bane, 2 magic weapons. Which you cannot legally do as only ONE of each type of item may be purchased by a character. That is unless of course where common magic items are concerned. The sword of might is common denoted by the * next to it's name. As such not only can your army include multiples but a character and purchase it multiple times and alongside an item of the same category so can purchase the Reaver Bow and the sword of might together without issue. You seem to be suggesting something about adding the swords +1 strength bonus to that of the Reaver bow, which I never said or even hinted at.

But normal the game is still quite new 😎 Btw, flank charge doesn’t need strength 5 😉 for combat bonus Keep it up, love your style as in 6th 👍
Vanguard gyro towards shadow warriors (360 degree move), charge SWs first turn, can’t stand and shoot because you’re too close. Impact hits and attacks, dead SWs 😉
Good battle report. That eagle wouldve lost its combat against the thunderers first turn due to being outnumbered and very likely double outnumbered, meaning he wouldve very likely broken from combat ;)

These are magic items carried by named characters and items considered to be 'extremely common'.",
The way I understand it is that you can only take one non-common magic item per category, but you can also pick extremely common ones on top. As to follow the rule from pg.338 about declaring which magic weapon the hero uses if they have more than 1, since they can only use one per 'phase'.
Old World Builder seems to confirm it, leaving extremely common magic items still available after picking the common/army ones.
Whoops, you beat me to it with the edit :D. Love the batreps!
Great game! But I'm upset that cannon didn't misfire last turn lol
Gromril Armour let's you re-roll armour saves of 1...
Rockin the bearfeets I see, nice 1 😄👍
🦶🦶
if i remember the rules correctly, the tunderers should have run to the organ gun's direction.
Would like to see Snaggletooth's Orcs and Goblins vs High Elves (lots of magic. artillery and fanatics please!)
Me too!
love those battle reports. why dont you try more points maybe 3000 ?
Reaver bow+ sword of might works as it’s a common item 😉 absolutely loved the game
Oh snap! I totally didn't absorb that bit under Extremely Common Magic Items. Good catch!
@@rogueelementgaming Ive been using that combo on my prince and it's quite good 👍
@@benbiddiss336you dont get +1 strength when using the bow from the sword
@@benbiddiss336oh, ok, you called it a combo thats why i thought of that, nvm 😅
Dice. Tray. 2 definitely cocked dice and too many dice around the table for camera shots.
Nice to see you and your Show. I think you need new Dice because they are 6th Edition Fanatics , angry about the old world. The Canon is a human One, Not a Dwarf build. The Dwarfen Rangers are interesting , the Gyrocopter versus Shooting Armies was a Kamikaze Unit. At least a Word to the Miners. nice Try, better than most of all past Battles 😅 Thanks for the good Time watching the Hobby I had no Time for
Are those the Lord of the Rings eagles??
Hello,
Nice early game, the elf could do better i think, regarding more movements and too static, also charging units with no hope of winning.. (eagle, light cavalry on rangers). But normal the game is still quite new 😎
Btw, flank charge doesn’t need strength 5 😉 for combat bonus
Keep it up, love your style as in 6th 👍
Yessss stoss...up the dwarfs
👍👍
Vanguard gyro towards shadow warriors (360 degree move), charge SWs first turn, can’t stand and shoot because you’re too close. Impact hits and attacks, dead SWs 😉
The Eagle is also close order :-)
FAQ added a unit strength minimum to get the +1
@@Engra_Indeed. Minimum US of 5. Great Eagle has 3.
Heavy Armour is 5+, not 4+ (for the copter fusillade). Light is 6+, heavy 5+. Full plate 4+. Shield is +1.
Good battle report. That eagle wouldve lost its combat against the thunderers first turn due to being outnumbered and very likely double outnumbered, meaning he wouldve very likely broken from combat ;)
Thanks mate! No combat res bonus for outnumber in this edition.
@rogueelementgaming ah I thought there was outnumber this edition my bad. Good battle reports mate and I'm so happy to see Old World content on the channel 😊
No worries mate! Glad you're enjoying it.
Maybe just buy and paint a new canon and bury this one deep! ;-)
❤
Your shadow warriors have long bows
FBIGO doesn't trigger panics. It's not a break form combat.
Not quite. Page 162 of the rulebook states that fleeing or FBIGO causes all units within 6“ to make a Panic test. Only Give Ground would not trigger Panic.
Never trust a BFSP cannon, get a new one.
It's just the crew that are from BFSP, the cannon itself is legit. Might have to paint up some new crew though 😅
@@rogueelementgaming Ah if it's the GW plastic one, it's cause the runes on it translate to "Boom", so destined to misfire. (Think the organ gun's translates to "Bang")
Classic bases? What has this guy been doing since January? Bah! Dwarfs rank up so much prettier on twenty-fives.
You still get a thumbs up.
You managed to make an interesting game from an inferior set of rules cf Ed 6. Also takes a lot longer to play, but excellent models and good spirit.
