Can I just say I love the casual nature of this battle report. It has the same feel as walking by a game at a local game store and asking how it's going.
This is amazing, look forward to many more battle reports! I'm most excited for a battle report on your trench warfare table once it's complete! Thanks Eric!
Huge props for playing on a battlefield with so much meaningfull terrain! I was fun to watch and a great cinematic battle report. I'd like to see some dice rolls of crucial moments more often like you did at the end.
This was a brilliant video! You could tell you were both really enjoying the actual game and narrative of this. I laughed at the hidden cave behind the waterfall! 🤣🤣Silly bone he's won't ever find that
Finally a battle report that shows models close enough. I recently came back into the hobby and I have been searching for channels to bring on to the TV and see some nice models fighting on the tabletop. Table and models look great! 👍
Lol yeah the dice rolls. Regardless, you guys are already one of the best bat rep channels thanks to the beautifully painted armies and atmosphere. Keep up the great work man.
I agree to a certain point, I would of loved to see the dice rolls of the dragon duel and the grail knights getting an smashed, but showing every single dice turns a great little bite sized battle report into a hour slog. No other channel does battle reports this fast and it's refreshing.
After having one of the most upleasent Warhammer 40k battles of my life and general frustration with 40k, it is nice to watch some Old World battle reports to see how tabletop games can actually be fun. 40k has become power gaming galore, everything is overpowered, you are removing whole squads every turn and the mission cards decide the game. The goblin green alone makes me happy.
Soothing goblin green will cure what ails ya 😂 . I am a big advocate of not playing games you don’t enjoy. If you are gonna spend a few hours playing with someone, its worth being a little but discerning
Nah... 40k isn't that bad. The last balance dataslate did some very good changes to the game. Sure, there is always room for further improvement, but there will never be a 'perfect' balancing anyway.
Thanks for the batrep! Just a heads up on ambushers, even though you roll for them in the command sub phase, they don't appear until the remaining moves phase so cannot charge the turn they are placed
This was awesome! Its so cool to see your Bretonian army in its all its glory, doing battle in the scenery you made for the jousting. What happens to the duke now though? His home has been destroyed, his people slaughtered and the dead now roam the land!
The voiceovers and music are wonderful touches. Great shots of gorgeous armies and terrain. Good work keeping everything going on in the battle very clear. Love it!
Great report! Tomb scorpions should have the wide edge of the base front though. Also, charging is declared at the start of movement not the end of strategy, but that of course is just semantics. More of these please!
Brilliant battlereport, definatly one of the best formats on youtube at the moment ❤ Cant say I’m a fan og the challange system - it is what it is and you played it to great effect, but its a system I’d rather do without. Great video, subscribing and hoping for more 👍
I agree, i hate the challenge system. I prefered it in previous editions where i had the option to decline and lose the lady’s blessing. Now theres no option but to get sandtrapped by a big monster. Its annoying for sure but ill be ready next time
Yea, for now my best idea is to not take unit champions, and that just feels bad. Tabletop Tactics just housed ruled challenges to oblivion (and I applaud it) but going to events or playing in stores we just have to put up with it. I hope the Nobles of Bretonnia can device some useful counters to it, for now I won't let my Pegasus lord charge a unit with a champion unless it's to back up another unit that has a champion to absorb the challenge, but I haven't found a good way for my Bretonnians to deal with enemy monster characters without them throttling the charge with a challenge. @@EricsHobbyBattleReports
@@julvatnImo, challenges should only be available for characters in units, not for single characters to make sure everyone still has something to attack.
super new to the hobby, don't have any minis yet but have been waiting for old world to return to maybe save up and start. it's great to see it played out in this nice casual format. thanks so much for posting
I love this battlefield. A fight on the tournament grounds. The spectators get in on the action. Even the secret extra treasure hidden behind the waterfall. Scenic as hell. Great battle report.
wow this was a very entertaining Battle report! Thank you! Actually it is the first Battle Report from the Old World in which i see Bretonnia loosing against Khemri. Well done!
You, Sir Eric, did not disappoint. Love the care put into everything and the lore of your army composition at the very start. 😊 Hope to see you expand outside of GW some day. Would love to see you introduced to This Is Not A Test (2nd ed incoming), Marvel Crissis Protocol and/or Malifaux. Honestly, think you would love them. Subscribed Love the laid-back style and narrating.
Looks great! Those classic WHF horse tails are a pain, always breaking off and falling out, makes me feel better about my own frustration with that problem to see it happens to others.
So nice report. Simple and to the point. The battle was really interesting, with the brave knights dealing with the big beast on the flank while the rest of the army was trying to survive the hordes of skeletons coming over.
Great battle report. It wouldn't change the result, but I noticed 3 little mistakes. Flaming attacks only remove the regeneration, if the unit has flammable too. Skeletons are not flammable. If you win combat, and outnumber the losing side more then 2:1 (unit strength), then the defeated units either give ground, or flee. They can't fall back in good order (unless Grail Knights have some special rule). And charging doesn't give combat resolution anymore. Keep up the good work :)
This was great but I thiiiink we need to see the dice rolls. It was a little difficult to work out why things were happening at times. Other than that, brilliantly done!
Really loved watching this and getting me in the mood to finish my models to get some TOW games in! Did notice at 19:36 you move the damsel to the back of the battle pilgrims/grail relique. Seems like you can only do that in units with a Knightly/Questing/Grail vow which that unit doesn't have: Page 87 of Forces of Fantasy: If this character has joined a unit that has a Unit Strength of 10 or more, and that has a Chivalrous Vow (see page 108), they may voluntarily ‘retire’ to the rear of the unit at any time, moving through the ranks and taking up a position away from the combat. Page 94: Battle Pilgrims: Close Order, Hatred (All Enemies), Levies, Peasantry, Stubborn Grail Reliquae: Blessings of the Lady, Close Order, Grail Reliquae, Hatred (All Enemies), Levies, Peasantry, Retinue of the Saints, Stubborn
A couple minor rules points: Ambushing units cannot charge the turn they arrive from reserve. While you roll for reserves at the Start of Turn subphase of the strategy phase, models arriving from reserve are not actually placed onto the table until the Compulsory Moves subphase of the Movement phase - after all of that turn's charges are already complete. Also, a wizard who is engaged in combat may not attempt a wizardly dispel. Not a big deal, there's a lot of minor rules complications in the Old World, and I think we're all still missing bits here and there as we slowly absorb this rule set.
Great batrep. Great terrain and super paint job on the armies. I've only played one game of Old World. Lots of rules questions from an old 8th edition player. Can dragons march and breath weapon now? Do the magic cards come with the boxed set or separately or did you make them. Can you charge on the turn you ambush now? How did the chariots charge through their own troops om Turn 2? Charges used to come before remaining movement.
You cannot charge and use breath weapons. It was clarified in the FAQ. Ambushers arrive in the compulsory moves sub-phase, so they can't charge, that happens before that. There is a special rule, "chariot runners". Chariots can charge through units that have those special rule (and other stuff.)
Cool new rule for chariots. I like it. I get dragons can't charge and use breath weapon with the breath template, but presumably they can still use their breath weapon in combat? In 8th edition was was 2D6 at S whatever in the initiative step once per game. But in this battle report it looked like the bone dragon marched and breathed with the template. (But maybe it was the cmaera angle. They did not actually say one way or the other.) @@gergely6142

Please keep making battle reports! With your terrain and minis they look epic!
Love that the tourney grounds became a battle field scenery piece
As always you fought with valour
Eric love the format of this video. Combining old school handheld action but within 30-40 minutes instead of a couple hours. Keep it up
Loving these first two batreps! And the old Bretonnian models are fantastic!!!
Probably the best battle setting I've seen. Bonus points for the dragons breathe template and the secret waterfall cave. Epic.
Heh, the secret stash behind the waterfall is so great. A delight to watch this game with your beautiful minis and terrain!
I hope you eventually do some Necromunda reports aswell.
Yes
I'm guessing that would depend on Eric's other half, eh?

Love the feel of this and the one on Skari's channel. Not enough handcam battle reports these days. Would love to see the rolls though!

Clean, concise, easy to watch and a great friendly game. The best Old World game I have seen yet.
Great minis, awesome battle report, it did feel one-sided by turn 2 though, those spells and right side units were surprisingly good.

so question. @14:45 had the fireball stop regen. skeletons warriors or tomb guard are not flammable. am I missing something?
