Hi Jason, I can barely keep up with you releasing one video after another 😊. It is just marvellous 😂 Water damage very often affect true depth camera. If this is not something you usually do and don’t have the tools, stay out of it. Otherwise, I have a video on my channel about repairing the true depth the old fashioned way by replacing Romeo IC. There’s also new methods now that can use just a tag-on flex
@@ststele I have seen that there is a method to replace the flex cable you just repaired with the "jc" brand one. It involves jailbreaking the phone to get (what i asume to be) the serial number of the part stored on the motherboard and programing a new one with that number. I did not try it tho, as i do not have that brand of programing tools (i bought the qianly icopy plus not too long ago and they don't seem to have this option available) and i do not have any phone that needs this type of repair. Only commenting to let you know there might be other ways that you might want to explore to do this repair. If you do so i'd gladly watch any of your videos trying this out, although i probably wouldn't jailbreak a customers phone without their permision😄
Hi Jason! For the face id, ask the customer if had some software update after liquid damage, if so, update / restore. If not, just move the sensor to another known good flex. Have a nice day!
TrueDepth Camera is the dot projector. Check in the programmer and fix it with a tag-on flex by JC or i2c. For me this is the fastest method without having allignment trouble.
face id come on jason i just come out of hospital with a halfed face after steriods for 6 months and you know my other things like brain heammorrage etc i suffered lol i am so lucky to be here lol but enjoy your videos mate.
Love or hate Apple phones, they cram a whole lot of stuff in there. Must be a whole lot if Tetris players in the design studio working out how to fit things together. Liking this variation in full on board repair to the jibs like this one. Giving me a deep appreciation of the skill this type of repair requires.
I love the new vids!! Just because of you, i've convinced myself to finally do a repair on an old phone i have laying around. Bought a cheap screwdriver w/ some bits and a low quality hot air station. Replaced a screen on a Samsung Galaxy A22 and it's working great :) Thank you for making these video's as they are entertaining but most importantly very educational. And to the question i want to see more i'd like to say yes to that! Great job you are doing!! Greetz :)
For sure we want to see the next stage. I can't see it being harder than doing bios in modern laptops, ie, pull the old bios/bios-es, get the ids, code then into a fresh new bios, and reload to chip again.
You really make phone repair easy especially with micro soldering. I'd like to ask you, which is easier and difficult for you to repair Android (Samsung or any other brands) or iPhones? I hope you could have a live feed where we could have some Q&A sort of thingy.... BTW if you cover the board and /or components with green liquid mask, will it help make the board a bit of water proof? I REALLY REALLY LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!
just replace the whole flex cable because proximity can work independantly of flood illumunator despite they are in the one body and half the cases with liquid damage ive got the flex is damaged-shorted somehow and the proximity work but flood illuminator not
Hey Jason. I hope your doing really WELL!! You should check out "sapid pastry mat" for your soldering on your bench. I upgraded from a similar silicone one that you have and the difference is incredble. Feels luxurious in comparison. It also does,t expand with heat and put things out of focus. I also havnt been able to put any burn marks it it yet!!!
There is chip on a flex cable that control FACE ID, it get damage by liquid . again cleaning under it should work if not , it is dot projector , that again should be opened and cleaned
Hi Jason always love your videos and they are not just informative also very entertaining. Just a quick suggestion, there is a soldering table where you can hook your solder tip and lay the sensor on it it's cones out like butter
I sort of forgot about this method! When I first started doing these and had trouble with burning plastic, I did a couple of them on my hot plate instead. Good suggestion here! Thanks :-)
I have an iPhone X that boot loops when it loops the apple logo sideways, and then add the NUC lines on the screen, even if I replace it with a brand-new one
Hello Jason, i think if you replace the flex with an original one, and replace the proximity sensor / purple dot projector, to the new flex it shoud work, i fixed a few already like that i always replace the flex. Exatcly what you did but new flex.
One of the cleanest, simplest and nicest workbenches around. Love it. I am looking at your microscope, did you screw it down in the desk without stand or stand is below the desk?
I have an iPhone X water damaged that was fixed by repair shop fully working and then I just left it for like a few days in my house cause I had to leave and then when I came back my phone start looping with the Apple logo moving sideways and then a different it gives lines and I’ve tried the new displaybut it won’t work. I’ve tried even the ejecting volts it gives 0.0 A and is 5.07 W. What could it be because I’ve tried this on disconnecting the Face ID and seeing if the boot won’t boot with the Face ID without it connecting
Great vid. I don't fix them but would love to se the face id fix. As an aside and also someone who likes things just so. How often does being picky with this kind of work result in more work needed or even a fail?
Great Repair and Video, again! If you have shaky hands, how to you deal with it? Yes, I'd like to see you repair the face ID. Have a Great Day! Thank You. 🙂
Hello jason. Pls do a face id repair I really love watching your videos ever since. Whether if its long or short just do it not just for me and also for your subscriber who supports your channel. Thank u and have a good day.
At 15:55, I would have thought that a light breeze had just ceased to exist... but the fact that it lined up perfectly with the video cut made it easy to decide not to try popping my ears with the jaw thing. Lol. Dear reader: if that doesn't make sense to you, I envy you
I'm thinking that when the ear speaker flex gets damaged, the dot projector self destructs? Not sure yet.. I may never find out. Doing the face ID jobs this morning & will post soon.
One question aside: I'm wondering, hoe Apple can glue the CPU to the board?A blob of glue wouldn't work (IMHO), because it will isolate the balls.A sheet of glue with holes for the balls? Any idea?
I once sifted through a 1/2 full 13 gallon trash bag to find an EEPROM IC. Was literally hunting for a speck of dust.. took me all day long. I didn't find it.
Didn’t realise skilled craftsmen still existed….takes me back to my workshop days. Excellent 👌
Hell yeah, a face ID video would be great. Appreciate the videos Jason, always a pleasure to watch.
Thank you!
Why do you even think you have to ask if we want more repair vids ? O_o Such a silly question. =P
Hehe, thanks :-)

Jason, absolutely with the added video. I can't imagine anyone not wanting to watch you do your magic. Again nice work...
Thank you! Will do. I'm pretty much obligated to do the follow-up now. Lol 👍😁
Jason, as far as I'm concerned, Don't care how long your videos are, I watch them to the end!!
yea would love to see that video on face recognition repair
Will do! I'm locked in and obligated now.
Man, LOVING the steady videos! That was some AWESOME work! 🙂
Hi Jason!
For the face id, ask the customer if had some software update after liquid damage, if so, update / restore. If not, just move the sensor to another known good flex.
Have a nice day!
Thanks. I may actually try an update before other things. I didn't even think of it.
would love to see the follow up video on how you fixed the face id.
Thanksss. Will do it soon!
TrueDepth Camera is the dot projector. Check in the programmer and fix it with a tag-on flex by JC or i2c. For me this is the fastest method without having allignment trouble.

Yes, please! I'm curious to see if Face ID going to work again...

Great skill and short crisp videos....I watch early in the morning hours here in India....Nice share.
You can desolder and solder this by heating it on flat solder iron tip if there's no components on other side. No fear melting plastic with hot air.
Jason you can use the tag on flex repair method to repair the truedeph camera common issue with waterdamaged iphones
Glad you are back with the repair videos. A big thumbs up to any face ID videos!!
I love the new vids!! Just because of you, i've convinced myself to finally do a repair on an old phone i have laying around. Bought a cheap screwdriver w/ some bits and a low quality hot air station. Replaced a screen on a Samsung Galaxy A22 and it's working great :)

Awesome video… Good to have you back in repair new videos.. allay enjoy watch your show… your awesome dude…
Hello Jason, Very interesting to see a real professional at work !
For sure we want to see the next stage. I can't see it being harder than doing bios in modern laptops, ie, pull the old bios/bios-es, get the ids, code then into a fresh new bios, and reload to chip again.
Jason, then truedepth camera issue can be fixed with a programmer and tag on flex in most cases

I would be interested in watching you fix the face id and those other issues you mentioned.
Hi Jason, I will definitively like to see how you try to fix face Id on the Iphones.
There is chip on a flex cable that control FACE ID, it get damage by liquid . again cleaning under it should work

Thank you! Yes, the base is in the floor under the bench being stored. I mounted the microscope directly to the bench.
Yes that would be great Jason on face id

Quite tidy work but if you add the Face ID job would be Absolute professional work 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yes please!
Great vid. I don't fix them but would love to se the face id fix. As an aside and also someone who likes things just so. How often does being picky with this kind of work result in more work needed or even a fail?
Thank you. Oh it happens.. not very often but being picky when it doesn't actually help is a bad idea! Sometimes I just can't help it tho. 🙂
Great Repair and Video, again! If you have shaky hands, how to you deal with it? Yes, I'd like to see you repair the face ID. Have a Great Day! Thank You. 🙂
Hello jason. Pls do a face id repair
I really love watching your videos ever since. Whether if its long or short just do it not just for me and also for your subscriber who supports your channel. Thank u and have a good day.
Thank you!!
face id repairs are worst.
curious to see what you do.
At 15:55, I would have thought that a light breeze had just ceased to exist... but the fact that it lined up perfectly with the video cut made it easy to decide not to try popping my ears with the jaw thing. Lol.
Dear reader: if that doesn't make sense to you, I envy you
Please would love to see face id repair!
I'd love to see how you repair face id
Yes I would love to see you repair face ID. That's if it is not too much to ask :)
Very nice Video. Allways somthing to see and learn. Thanks a lote. :)

Please make the face id video.
Love your videos, greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹
So apple phones all boot so slowly?
Great video as usual!👏👏👏
The Engineer in me would love to see you hopefully repair Face ID....
Keep these great videos coming!!
Thanks will do! Hoping it can be fixed.
Wow that was tiny stuff Jason. A video on Faceid would be great as Apple are notorious for turning it off to force their customers to buy a new phone.
I'm thinking that when the ear speaker flex gets damaged, the dot projector self destructs? Not sure yet.. I may never find out. Doing the face ID jobs this morning & will post soon.
It’s a gizmo.
Jason,
do you REALLY gotta ask if we want an extra video? lol. OF COURSE WE DO.
really though. yes pls.
;)
Hehe, ok. :-)
is that one tied to the phone?
Yes it sure is. For some crazy reasonn
Heya, nice repair yes would love to see the face id repair vlog
Thanks will do it soon. Hopefully it's successful! I've never been able to fix it but I think I can now.
thanks buddy this is helpful, i have iphone X it behaves exactly that way, i guess i have the solution now
👍 this is very common on the iPhone X! Ear speaker flex and also the tactic engine/vibrate connector where it connects to the dock flex.
Most definitely on the Face ID only video.
Great video, Thanks Jason👍👍
Thank you!! I think you have a new profile pic. Almost mistook you for someone else. 😁👍
@@ststele yeh its my old iphone. I was worried you may not recognise me..😟👍👍
One question aside: I'm wondering, hoe Apple can glue the CPU to the board?A blob of glue wouldn't work (IMHO), because it will isolate the balls.A sheet of glue with holes for the balls? Any idea?
I think they solder it first & then use pressure to force the glue underneath before it cures. They're normally filled 100% underneath.
Definitely interested
What’s the newest model of iPhone you’ve worked on so far?
Up to 15 Pro. :-) have done lots of board work on 14 series but only some on the 15 Pro (only pro.. no other 15s yet)
Do you think it’s reasonable to charge extra for a prior repair attempt? I feel like your shop gets trickier repairs due to your UA-cam popularity.
I have never ever been down on the floor for an hour with a flashlight looking for the tiniest component blown away by hot air.
I once sifted through a 1/2 full 13 gallon trash bag to find an EEPROM IC. Was literally hunting for a speck of dust.. took me all day long. I didn't find it.
Good ol' factory reset should do the trick.
Give us a video on the face i.d.
Yes please. Do the face Id.
Face ID fix? Yes please....
I would love to see the Face ID fix. Also, no such thing as a video that’s too long. Lol.
