Awe … thank you so much. I guess that is because no stitch and glue of a few panels together. This canoe is made of just 1 panel (2 ply joined). Easy to build if you know what to do. No special tools. Just a hand saw, cutter knife and lots of clamps but you can do without the clamps if you screw the gunnels in. I am preparing a step/by-step manual and episodes of the building at the same time. Keep in touch 👌😊

Thank you so much. The thinking and planning are the most difficult part. Once started kind of okay and improvised along the way. Made a few mistakes. Almost gave up when one end cracked. Managed to patch the crack with fibreglass and continue. Phew!!!
If u don't mind me posting on your thread here, that's the mark of an experienced craftsman, making a mistake or something goes sideways n knowing how to fix or incorporate it so it looks like it grew there👍👍
No , not at all. Thanks, Clint. If I am to build another one I will plan it in such that the boat is made of 4 sections and each should be the exact copy of the other.
I really liked this video and would love to see a blueprint with dimensions one day. It would help me understand the cuts a lot better. I also hope you let us know how well it is still working at a later date. I really hope you enjoy your new canoe!
Thank you. I have been taking this canoe to the lakes and rivers many times. I did not vanish it. I hope it stays okay. Yes, I will share the plan soon
The boat and the video are great! I didn't know it's possible to build a canoe from plywood without hard chines, but you show how to do it and now I want to try. After watching your other videos, now I want to cook in it too! Did you ever post the step by step videos?
You did a lovely job, would I be cheeky if I asked for the plans? I have found some 3mm marine ply, and would love to try my hand at building one, it must be very rewarding, well done. Regards BB
Thank you. 🙏. It was. Finding a 3mm ply is the hardest part. Some places don’t sell them. Good work. Please email me at corneliusoutdoors71@gmail.com . I send you the free plan
You are a star, got and printed out the plans- you must’ve spent a lot of time producing, look forward to Studying them. And look forward to an update in the future, it will be a steel at less than $30 - small price for the work involved. Thanks again, and will always come back to this video for inspiration. Regards BB
You are welcome 🤗. Happy building. Marine ply a little rigid. You may need to wet the bottom in and out and run a steam iron on it as you bend the ply. Marine ply is made of hardwood. I explained this in the instructional pdf and how to go about it. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🥳
I am so impressed, it looks so good, it was just two sheets of plywood and after fiberglassing it’s gorgeous, looks completely professional (I’m no conoer)
In the past, I've had experience with Aluminum canoes of the same construction layout. Inspired by your construction technique, I'm currently adapting the workhorse of the north "chestnut Prospector" 16' to this plywood layout concept. Great job. Please share layout details for comparison.
Thanks. It’s an amazing design. I couldn’t believe it myself. Those are just a normal ply. Pine ply I think. I told my wife. If it breaks I will just make some small projects like tissue boxes 😊. In fact before I proceed further I took a cut out ply (2 x 3 ft) and bent it to almost a perfect letter U. Made scary noises but it was okay. I will share that part in the building episodes. The canoe bending process was a lot easier than I expected. As long as you start tightening the straps from the ends to the middle, it was so easy. No strength needed. A child can do that bending part. Amazing design, really.
Nice 👍🏽. Thanks, Kevin. I am NOT a builder. I just like to try. You should. You’ll never know how much you can do until you try. That SUP has no plan. I watched so many videos and I bought some plywood and start building one. No stitch and glue. I use 1/2 inch nails to a 1/3 inch beam. Super easy. I will ask my son to draw a simple plan and share soon
I can't say enough about how great the canoe is and like said earlier, the beauty of the woo makes even greater. Im not sure if the plans are still available, but if they are, how do I get a copy of them?
Amazing build! This is by the best and the most low cost method of building a canoe. So far I have watched this video more than 20 times. I need to build this. Wish I could get the plans. Thank you so much for sharing this video
I have the free version of the plan. I also have a comprehensive step by step version which I will ask for a small compensation. With the step by step, you won’t have to refer to the video 😊
Thanks, Ali. Yes, you just need 2 pieces of 3mm plywood, 8m x 1m fibreglass, some epxoxy/hardener and timber for fittings. If you plan it well, it can be ready for the water in a week. 👍🏽
Thank you 🙏. All the best. Happy building. I take this canoe for fishing a lot. If you need the plan, email me at corneliusoutdoors71@gmail.com . Take care 🙏

Dear Cornelius, many thanks for sending me the free version of the plans, and for the quick response. watched the video few time, and may be more. you think is it possible to build it 16ft? and if so what need to be done.
Good afternoon! This canoe looks amazing and I want to make one myself so that I can hopefully ride it around the canals of Amsterdam when the spring comes. Could you pleas send me the plans for making the canoe.
Good morning from warm summer in Australia. Thank you. It is an amazing canoe. Yes, I would love to email you the free plan. Please send me an email at corneliusoutdoors71@gmail.com
At the 4:31 part of the video, sir please explain why did you cut the fiber glass on that part? What is the difference if you not cut it or put just like that? Thank you.
Good observation! 👍🏽 I didn’t have wide enough glass cloth. I slit the middle and cover the space with trimmings from the bow and stern. That is also why I only glass the mid part of the inner hull. I apply 2 layers of epoxy to rest of the inner hull . Perfectly okay. The strength of the canoe comes from the convex curved arch of the hull. Just like an arch bridge. The load is opposite. The downward convex curved arch sustain the vertical loads. An amazing concept 🫡☝️👏✨
Waauw, gorgeous build with the most beautifull lines for a plywood canoe! well documented as well! where would i be able to find plans for this build? With kind regards! Thomas
Thanks. It does. I have another canoe: 18ft stitch and glue touring canoe. 900mm wide at the midpoint. Huge! But looks smaller once on water. Have a great day, mate!
Thank you 🙏. Can’t afford better clamps ☹️. Those clamps I got from $2 shops. Just to hold the gunnels in place. I screwed the gunnels in place. Someone commented I should have remove the screws once the glue sets. Very good idea actually. Thanks again, mate!
Hi, Do you have any drawings and measures for this beautiful plywood canoe? Like: - how tick was the plywood? - how long is the canoe? - how wide is the canoe? - is it fit only for one person? - did you tested how many kg is able to carry safely? Long time I was searching and looking for a practical light canoe plan solutions and I find yours very doable with my small knowledge. Thank you for your answer in advance! Best Regards Erik
Thanks, Mike. I will post the building episodes and plan soon. You can build this in less than week once you know what to do. If I were to make another one, I think I would complete it in 6 days. In this video, I took quite long. Most of the time trying to figure out best ways to go about it. Cheers, mate!
Thank you so much, my friend. Awe … you have made my day. No, I am not a builder at all. This canoe truely very easy to build. “If you know what to do “ 🤭😊. Therefore I am planning to prepare an extensive step by step on how to build this canoe. Just wondering if I should charge a small amount of money for it 😁. The plan is free for sure but how to read the plan, the step by step are not easy. Thanks again.
@@corneliusoutdoors if you’re not a master then no one would know that by looking at your canoe build , maybe you could sell the plans and directions and if you do put me on the list, thanks again for posting 👍😁💪🏻
I would build this if I could have a series of videos or plans that more described the gore cuts and the shape of the bow and stern curve cuts. Could you post them and let us know or link to a site that had plans or exact explanations?
Unfortunately, no. Many have asked me for the plan. I am trying to get a draftsman to do it for me and also scaled up for templates. Once I have it I will post the link in this video and subsequent videos. Do keep in touch.
lol 😂… good eyes 👍🏽👍🏽. I didn’t have enough. I cut the centre and use the trims from the bow and stern to cover the gap. This was during the COVID lockdown. Fibreglass shop was 20KM away. I just had to use what ever I had. I wanted to fibreglass the entire hull too but I only had just over a metre in the basement. Full of dirt and fungus. You can see that in the video but it gives somewhat a nice pattern 🤪. Also, by fibreglassing only the middle part of the inner hull was more than enough. Aren’t you going to build one? Email me at corneliusoutdoors71@gmail.com if you want a free plan. Cheers 🥂
@@corneliusoutdoors Got it. I did ask because I am considering making one. This technique using non-marine wood is definitely the most accessible and straightforward small canoe design I've run across. Thanks for showing the build in such detail.
Awe 🫢, thank you 😊. I only show the good parts. I made many mistakes. One end got a crack when I close the bow. But managed to patch and cover the flaw
Thank you. Tools ? You just need some basic hand tools. Time? Yes. I work at it an hour after dinner and more hours during weekend. Yes, I well share the plan soon. In the building episodes.
I would totally love to see a step by step video/videos If I wanted to make one for 2 people, would it just be as easy as making it a bit longer and adding an extra seat?
Thank you so much. It’s not perfect but she’s fun to paddle. Kind of tippy in the beginning but now I prefer taking this one out. I am not a builder but I have help my dad using hand tools when I young. You should try making one. I will share the plan soon
Thank you. Almost smooth. The fibreglass cover most of it. Not noticeable at all unless you purposely looking for it. The 5mm relieving holes at the start of each gore is useful, I think 🤔.
Also, maybe the way I measure and mark the gores is different. I don’t go by diameter of the points. I use a square ruler and mark the tangent line of the offset cut. I will try to show this in the upcoming building episodes. You can actually see me marking the tangent line in video. But it’s on Timelapse
Thanks. Wait till you see how easy to build one. I am preparing the step by step videos. I will share the plan then. You can even build this in your bedroom. 🥰
Nope. My son is finalising the design. I’ll start building it after we moved out to the countryside early next year. He is trying to design one build instead of two sections and put them ogether if you know what I mean.
I did! Currently im building my fifth project. (Rattle and canvas) Allways searching uncommon solutions. Allways the proces And design on itself very important. Regards.
@@dowrony I saw your canoe, brother. Beautiful canoe. Well done. Your channel deserves more views. I like the one with an engine. Did you expoy the canvas? I left some comments on your channel. hope to hear from you.

Thanks. It does. I have another canoe: 18ft stitch and glue touring canoe. 900mm wide at the midpoint. Huge! But looks smaller once on water. Have a great day, mate!
I'd love to see the step by steps please looks amazing 👏
Thank you so much 😊. Yes! I will post them soon 🤞🤞. I like making things but not editing videos 😒. But will try my best 😊
@@corneliusoutdoors same here
That's very nice build. Can i get the plans? I would try it! Thanks very much
Great work. I will be trying to make one myself soon
Yes, you should. It is easier than it looks. The most important thing to ensure is that each side and end should be the exact copy of the other.
Thanks for sharing this great canoe build, what a masterpiece! ❤✨🇸🇪
Thank you so much 😊
Amazing video! I got the plan, thank you!
lol 😂. Sorry for missing the plan in the earlier email . You are welcome. Happy building. 👍🏽
Awesome! Never seen clamps like that
Thank you 🙏. Can’t afford better clamps ☹️. Those clamps I got from $2 shops. Just to hold the gunnels in place. I screwed the gunnels in place. Someone commented I should have remove the screws once the glue sets. Very good idea actually. Thanks again, mate!
Hi,
Do you have any drawings and measures for this beautiful plywood canoe?
Like:
- how tick was the plywood?
- how long is the canoe?
- how wide is the canoe?
- is it fit only for one person?
- did you tested how many kg is able to carry safely?
Long time I was searching and looking for a practical light canoe plan solutions and I find yours very doable with my small knowledge.
Thank you for your answer in advance!
Best Regards
Erik
Hi Erik, yes I have.
Please email me at corneliusoutdoors71@gmail.com
Good job and well done. Would love to try this one day.
Thanks, Mike. I will post the building episodes and plan soon. You can build this in less than week once you know what to do. If I were to make another one, I think I would complete it in 6 days. In this video, I took quite long. Most of the time trying to figure out best ways to go about it. Cheers, mate!
Absolute master canoe builder, very impressive, cheers my friend 👍😁💪🏻
🙏🙏🙏
Great video! And thank you for the plan
Thank you and you are welcome 🙏. Happy Building
What a technique impressive man
🙏 thank you 😊
Why did you cut the sheet of fiberglass along the center of the bottom of the canoe at 8:04 ?
lol 😂… good eyes 👍🏽👍🏽.
@@corneliusoutdoors P.S. Thanks for the free canoe plans! I'm going to try this out this spring. Gotta buy a bunch of clamps first. :)
@Superkuh2 you are very welcome 🙏
@Superkuh2 not necessarily if you use screws. You can leave the screws in or take them out after the glue is cured 👍🏽
Something tells me his skill set is a few notches above mine. 👏💪
Awe 🫢, thank you 😊. I only show the good parts. I made many mistakes. One end got a crack when I close the bow. But managed to patch and cover the flaw
Nice project, well done.
🙏🙏 thank you
I would like to see the step by step videos! Thankd
Soon. Very soon. I will post the step by step videos
Hi Cornelius, thanks for making such great videos. I have no woodworking experience but I think it worth a try. Would you share me the plan?
Sure 👍🏽. Please email me at corneliusoutdoors71@gmail.com
No way 🤯 challenge accepted 🤙
👍🏽👍🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Amazing build. I wish I had the tools and time to make one. Can you share the plan?
Thank you. Tools ? You just need some basic hand tools. Time? Yes. I work at it an hour after dinner and more hours during weekend. Yes, I well share the plan soon. In the building episodes.
Bravo, great work. I wanna try too.
Thanks. You should. Once you start doing it you’ll see how easy and interesting the process can be. All the best.
I would totally love to see a step by step video/videos
If I wanted to make one for 2 people, would it just be as easy as making it a bit longer and adding an extra seat?
That is correct. There is also a plan for a 16 ft. Meant for 2 people. I will share the link to the plan soon.
really nice build, thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you so much. It’s not perfect but she’s fun to paddle. Kind of tippy in the beginning but now I prefer taking this one out. I am not a builder but I have help my dad using hand tools when I young. You should try making one. I will share the plan soon
Thank you very much for sharing! Are the downloadable PDF plans for this canoe available?
You are welcome. Yes there is. I will share the link soon, in the building video episodes. Have a nice day.
👏👏Cornelius you make the build look effortless, very enjoyable watch
Cheers!🥃
🫠🫠 thank you 🙏
It would be a easier I knew what to do. I had to figure out each step and try on waste plywood. I will share those moments soon
@@corneliusoutdoors looking forward to it👍
Well done on the build and the video great work :-)
Thank you 🙏
Can you post a link to the plans? Very nice work on building the boat 😎👍🏻
Thank you. 🙏 Please email me at corneliusoutdoors71@gmail.com
Wow..... awesome job 👍👍👍
Thank you 🙏 so much
Amazing, I might try to make one myself :))) Would you share the plans?
Please email me at corneliusoutdoors71@gmail.com
Awesome build!
Were you able to smooth out the transitions between the relief cuts along the side walls, or are the transitions notable?
Looks amazing! I need the plans for this canoe!
Thanks. Wait till you see how easy to build one. I am preparing the step by step videos. I will share the plan then. You can even build this in your bedroom. 🥰
Felicitaciones...las medidas ayudarian mucho..asi como saber como unes el triplay
This is beyond wonderful , can I have the plan please? Finally my dream of diy canoe could become true

@@corneliusoutdoors hi I’ve bought the detail manual, have you received the amount?
Hello,
great work.
do you have an example of a kayak in this same construction principle ?
Yes 👍🏽. Will post someday. 😊.
@@corneliusoutdoors But have you ever seen examples of kayaking with this method on the Internet.... I can't find any 🤔
Nope. My son is finalising the design. I’ll start building it after we moved out to the countryside early next year. He is trying to design one build instead of two sections and put them ogether if you know what I mean.
Love this? Any chance you can share the plan/measurements of how to cut the plywood?
Sure 😊. Please send me an email: corneliusoutdoors71@gmail.com
Wow 🤩 that’s amazing! Well done 👍🏽
Thank you so much 😊
Amazing! How can I have the cut plans, and measurements? I searched here and did not find. Thank you.

Hi Cornelius! Plans received! Thank you very much. I will let you know next steps. Great boat! Best regards.
Thank you for a great video. Can I please have copy off the plans?
Yes. For sure. Please email me at corneliusoutdoors71@gmail.com
Hello. May I ask you where you got plans for the boat? It is very nice and I would say impresive design.
