If Hickock says it has " a little bit " of kick, I wonder how hard it kicks mere mortals.

Chuck Norris takes Hickok45 for Protection.
PhenomProductions23 ok that’s funny...
Mortals can't lift that lever gun, much less shoot it......
He made a video on .375 H&H Magnum, and he said that it was a lot of recoil. I don't want to shoot a .375 mag.

I've shot so many more rounds through my .500 magnum revolver than I imagined that I would have. This lever gun is definitely on my save-up-for list.
"Spike Driver" has to be one of the ultimate cool names for a firearm.
all targets were harmed in the making of this video.
Dang there are some funny comments on this video
"Damn I'm tired" *hickok45 uploads 40 minute video on my favorite gun* "oh well I guess I wont sleep"
This is your favorite rifle? Lol your favorite is even more niche than mine.
@@appalachianexploration5714 .
@@appalachianexploration5714 well now I need to know what your favorite gun is lol
I work for limbsaver. Pretty cool to see the product in one of your videos. The recoil pads absorb up to 70% of felt recoil. Great video 👌
They "save my limbs," and more importantly for me, they give me an inch or so in my length of pull.
I bought one for my stepfather who was in Nam, since I thought he shot left handed and has a bullet wound on his left shoulder. Finds out he shoots RIGHT HANDED since I guess the military forced that back then. Then when he was in, he didn't even go shooting.
Damn!!! If you can find doing something you love, for so long and it still makes you chuckle decades later then life is indeed good!
I bet you remember guns like that from your cowboy days, Riding your horse into the sunset.
Yes, it was pretty dusty in Dodge City and Tombstone!
lol
Austin Mosier, instead of watching Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke, we can watch Hickok45 on Potsmoke.
Mid-day_ Light thought he was 6'4". Still a big man though. Hickock and his son are both 6'8" I believe.

Hickocks never die
The sound of that action is legendary.... I would love a .460
Model 90...
Yeah the. 460 is sweet round
Big Horn also makes an AR500 version. Imagine an AR platform rifle that runs the wicked 500S&W magnum round. They come with a 5 round magazine I believe, but you can order optional 9 rounders. Definitely on my wish list!
It's not a 500 Mag
It's a 500 Auto Max, completely differ case.
who cant fall in love with a lever action? it was the most use rifle action since the beginning of tv
The world needs a Henry big boy, in the big bore 500 s&w.
I don't know if anyone noticed, but around 2:47 there's a deer roaming around the targets.
I know right, that's exactly what I thought!
adam whaley he's in the worst place ever for a deer
Pretty surreal, especially since Hickok just let off a few shots moments before.
adam whaley just noticed it, it was pretty close
lol, the animals around Hickok's house are so jaded.. don't even care about gunshots anymore.
$2,800. to $4,600. depending on finish and wood grade. Another great vlog btw. Thank you.
Under bidenflation it now starts at 4800
I just realized they hold the camera still without flinching from the shots. Pretty impressive even with ear protection because of the more powerful, loud firearms
You seemed to find real joy pulling the trigger on this beautiful rifle... made me smile just watching it. Now Big Horn Armory has a new 500 to make you smile. It is the AR-500. I hope to see one in your hands soon more 500 joy for everybody.
The wrong cartridge by the wrong gun never gets old

Unfortunately for my bank account, my S&W .500 Mag revolver has become one of my favorite guns to shoot. I saved up and just ordered the BHA Model 89 Carbine with case hardening and an octagon barrel. Thanks for all the great videos, Hickok. Much obliged.
I would like to see velocity differences between the 500 S&W revolver and this 500 S&W rifle. I know the .357 almost doubles out of a longer lever gun, and I never thought the numbers would be that big.
➤ 1,597 fps Big Horn model 89, 18-inch barrel

@@XXfea not as much of a difference as i expected
I've never seen Hickok startled by a round before. That's some powerful stuff.
I've been picking up more Federal lately. Just because they sponsor you.
What's your point? He gets free ammo. Quit your bitching.🙄

What a sweet lever gun ! Love that .500 S&W too. Nothing needs changed in my book.
I’ve been looking at this rifle in .460 S&W, to go with my pistol in the same caliber. I prefer the .460, because of the different rounds it shoots, and the availability of ammunition in tight markets. Beautiful weapons made by a great manufacturer. I would appreciate their weapons in any caliber. Thanks for the video!👍🏻💕
Think about it ....460 rifle an a short 460 pestle and a 460 MARES leG!!!
@@rustybird8803 Only concern is,,, will the 45 Colt cycle in the lever action?
hickok 45 deserves more than 2 million subs, he's awesome❤
Gun channels are like craft beers; there are too many of them out there, and only a handful of good ones. Therefore, people waste too much time watching junk instead of concentrating on good channels like this one. Hickok45 is actually fortunate to have two and a half million subscribers. Chris Baker (Lucky Gunner Ammo) has only a little over sixty thousand, and his videos are superb. If you haven't already, please subscribe.
Gabriel Brack - I ain't Chris!
azores15 there are many good craft breweries tho, but i guess a handful out of thousands of breweries is a lot
Close to 5 million here at the end of 2019. Go Hickock 45!
6 million now
By far my FAVORITE rifle!!!! Pairs nicely with my 4" revolver strapped to my chest while hunting here in Alaska . Certainly going to be a family rifle to be passed down. I have their first style sight, looking into the skinner one to replace it.
As always Hickok thank you for the review. Much appreciated
Made right here in Wyoming. They take their hunting seriously around these parts.
Colorado loves Wyoming. Neighbors to the north who still sell fireworks and magazines that hold more than 15 rounds.
@Christopher Marlowe Residents may carry concealed or open, loaded weapons in Wyoming except for a very few places.
However, we use good judgement as well.
Even though you can legally carry your AR-15 down main street, anywhere in Wyoming, only dicks do that.
Most seem to conceal carry pistols and revolvers.
And I only know that because a few here have told me.
It is low key unless you are in the hills, or during hunting season.
Medicine for 2 legged pests is kept in a pocket, waistband, chest holster, under a counter, or in a glovebox.
You won't see it.
@Christopher Marlowe here is the logic;
The bad guy has the drop on you; always.
His turn first.
If you are a ding dong with the AR on a 2 point sling; you get the bullet or get robbed first.
Now; if you are carrying concealed; Smith and Wesson 640 .357 inside waistband, or a Glock 19 or a Ruger LCP.
He doesn't know what you got or where you got it.
You wait your turn.
But at least you get a turn.
In a state with Constitutional Carry like Wyoming, everyone can and may carry open.. but very few do you will find.
Better to have an ace in the hole than lay all your cards on the table up front.
Mighty fine piece of machinery you got .... Love it ! The lever action combined with all that power , is absolutely addictive.
Seeing it I'm shocked someone didn't make this rifle sooner
Razgriz the Mandalorian THE DIFFERENCE IS-THIS RIFLE IS BUILT ENTIRELY FROM THE GROUND UP-nothing but bar stock SS etc.

The shelf full of .500 Magnum ammo at my local ag store reminded me of this video
I'm glad you guys did a video like this. A lot of guys are looking to the big bore pistol cartridges in a rifle due to new hunting regulations in many states!
"You Kentucky people, with your mittens!" Hahahaha! Hickok gold!
Love that Rifle , always liked the 45/70 but that .500 is awesome & the sound of that lever action !!!.
The 500 SW has comparable power and speed if not more than the 4570
Oh my goodness! I'm in love! Amazing piece of hardware!
asked to you about a year ago.....thought you'd never going to do that!!!! simply love you, Hickok
greetings from Italy
Wow that bullet has some velocity. I can't believe how fast it got out to those targets. It's so powerful it knocked the one beside it down too.
I need this in my life
45-70 or 500 SW oh well I’ll get both
The 50Beo is up your alley then
Same
Agreed. I have some Whitetail to hunt.
I need this For my Michigan restricted deer region. Only straight walled revolvers cartridges allowed. A range of them with 500 Smith and Wesson being the largest. 45-70 Is prohibited

mcnameva more strict then back in the us, u need to be a member of a shooting Club for at least a year or an authorized hunter to own a gun legally, ure only allowed to shoot at certified shooting ranges or in case of beeing a hunter in the woods, no shooting in ur backyard! only semiauto, no funswitch for civilians
araknidude The EU will soon introduce those (10 for long guns, 20 for pistols) :(
That slo-mo action at the end was awesome! Thanks for another interesting video!
Wow. I have never seen the ram go down that fast. It was as if a truck ran it over. The kinetic energy that round delivered was insane. Large game hunter for sure.

Love it. I couldn't even afford the cost of all that ammo for the 500 he had there. But awesome gun.
I just bought 1 of these iv also owned 3 500 s&w hand guns with different barrel lengths. I love this round
Finally!!!! I love this rifle sooooo much. Thank you for reviewing it

I had the opportunity to shoot one of these yesterday at the range. I felt it in my soul! Not something I will ever forget to say the least. I love the 500 swith and messon. Sorry had to say like Mr Hickok mistakenly did. I will pick up a 500 s&w one day. What a great caliber

yes Hickok and Paul Harrell on YT
Please please please run some 700g Underwood 500 S&W ammo through that thing! I wanna see that so bad
Yes!!!
Yes please
I have the same rifle and contacted Big Horn about doing just that. They didn’t recommend it; the 700gr bullet was designed for the revolver cylinder and would not feed nor fit the chamber correctly.
Kirk Turner WRONG!!! It will most definitely chamber and fire the 700g-it should be top loaded though
@@kyletdoane526 just because it will chamber doesn't mean it's correctly, and it still won't fees. Lever guns are picky about length, just is what it is.
I wish h&r didn't get bought. They made a handi-rifle chambered in .500 s&w and was actually affordable
There's always Encore. FL hogs know I have one!
love the grains on that wooden stock
I may not have as many as you, but I have much more than my share of firearms, but believe it or not, the gun that has seen the most shoulder time is my Marlin 39A Golden. It was the very first gun I bought, and it has safely handled many thousand rounds. Thanks for the great videos Hickok and John.
beautiful rifle. i thought about this years back shooting the 500 revolver at a gunshow, and to my knowledge Bighorn is the first to put this concept into action. i hope this gains popularity, cuz a $3200 price tag is a little rich for my blood. great video HK.
Take a look at there black thunder version….i wanted 1 but man have to save his Pennie’s for awhile
This gun is gorgeous and handles phenomenally. First rifle I ever shot and I want to get one eventually.
Who let you shoot this as your first gun?
@@dildonicplague I had shot a 9mm CZ Scorpion Evo and a fee pistols. I went to a place in Wyoming and they had it there as a rental. Shot that and a M1 Garand as my rifle calibers. Great tome
Yes the 45-70 does hold more modern powder that the s&w 500
The sling attachment, its recessed, inter-girly there. Nice feature! And more length is always good when dealing with the expander. Good bit of advise haha. But all joking aside, this is a sweet looking rig. The figure of the walnut caught my eye right off the bat. Beautiful. Would love to see how the premium stock looks on these, and I would love to own one someday myself. One day I may! as they say. Thanks for sharing this one with us Hickok, keep em comin!
That thing hits like a concrete busting sledgehammer.
I would love one in 460 s&w. I could afford to reload that! 😊
I've got a TC Encore with a barrel chambered in 500 S&W. Great deer rifle.
I love the fact that he’s got a gun on his holster while firing another 😍. Meanwhile i got .45 1911 and a 17 glock 3rd gen. 😅
Nice! Really wish this gun was at a lower price point, I have an S&W 500 pistol that I really enjoy and reload for and i think it needs a lever gun companion in 500. While I was hearing the gong hits it occurred to me that Hickok45 should get gongs tuned to specific musical notes and give us a concert!
Wow, that drives those big rams down. I want one !
I love those old repeaters. The style hasn't really changed since the Wild West Era, only the calibre is different. Hat, Horse, Wagon and Cart, one of those, and your on the job Homesteading. I would be interested to see what the exit hole looks like from one of those.
Thank you hickcock. My friend and I watched from beginning too end and turns out he has been checking these out in some of his gun mags. Awesome, we both agreed. The only thing better would have been if it were in stainless steel. Thank you hickcock 45. Keep shorting them.
"I might very well miss....".
16:30 Nails it
"Someone is making a levergun in this pistol cartridge!"
That thing has more energy than most rifle cartridges, it matches .308 in energy for most of it's loadings.
Saying it's a pistol cartridge because a handgun was made for it is ... marketing.
That’s one big bullet , it has a lovely piece of wood , hope your both keeping well , you always amaze me that you can shoot any guns very accurate. Stay safe and well best wishes from the UK
The wood on the big horn armory lever gun is beautiful.
There might be people not interested in lever guns? Blasphemy!

Some days drinking coffee and listening to Hickok45 on a video talking about a lever gun the world simply finally makes sense.
Those were the swift a-frame federals .
Those are 325 grain and the other box has the barnes expanders. You had two different ones that I seen .
Keep up the awesome content 😎👍🏻
The happy feeling when he said. Ok.. Let's shoot some more.
Holy Moly!!! That sound is INCREDIBLE!
Man is the sound of that action being worked awesome or what. Beautiful gun.
This is a interesting caliber as an finnish hunter, because you could load it down to subsonic and still get enough of joules to hunt moose. Some other hunters have build a tc contenders and other single shot rifles to this caliber, and screw a supressor in the end of barrel, when they hunt deers near towns, people dont get mad for the gunshots at the evening
They make big bore air rifles as well that can take down deer with ease if you are looking for something silent it doesn't get much quieter.
powerful !! 1 round knocked down both rams , LoL .. good times !!
Dang it Hickok! Now I am gonna have to buy one of those! I have a short and long barreled S&W 500. Now, thanks to you, I think I need one of these! You know, just to complete the 500 Mag. collection of guns! ;)As always thanks for the great videos! :)

*THAT'S A BIGGGG BULLET*
Maui Demigod of the Wind and Sea Sure is
Yes. But it falls short of my 1895 45-70, with which I can go from a 325grn up to a 540grn if I desire, plus at a starting price of $2500 for the Big Horn, I'll pass.
3manfan you can get anywhere from the lowest weight 45/70 all the way to 700 grains, as a cartridge 500 s&w surpasses anything a 45/70 can do
That may be, but there's nothing I need a 700grn bullet for. The 540grn Garret will take anything that your mentioned 700grn will. A large critter won't think "Hey, I was just smoked by a 500 S&W....sure glad he didn't use a 45-70 on me"......& via-a-versus. If you want to throw a minimum of $2500 out for one of these, go for it. I've owned my 1895 for decades & I'd rather use that $2500 on other things. The 500 doesn't do anything the 45-70 can already do. It only has more energy on paper. Animals don't care about what's on paper. There are many an Elephant that have been dispatched with a heavy 45-70 & there's nothing that walks the earth larger than that.
3manfan For the record, its "vice versa", not "via a versus"
Nice gun. I have a Beowulf, and love the big bore rounds. Fun to play with, but I want a lever action to play with as well.
There is something undeniably cool about a 50 caliber. I've always wished Hickok would review the Guncrafter Industries 1911 in 50 GI.I could never afford that gun, but it is a very interesting concept for a caliber. I've read such good reviews of the cartridge, I wish some major brands would design some guns for it. Just imagine--a 50 caliber Springfield or Glock!
"Let's see what's in that bucket!" *Blows it open with a 500 S&W*
Damn, i wish i could afford one of those.
I have the S&W 500 pistol (almost 9 years now)... I neeeeed this rifle! Looks fun for target shooting.
I first came across this rifle in my GunsAmerica e-newsletter. Beautiful. I love the old Model 71, but .348 WCF ammo and components are as scarce as hen's teeth.
My question is why has this taken so long to come out. I've been waiting for this since the 500 came out. it seemed like the logical next step to me.
I knew a rifle for the 500 mag would come out sooner or later. People just seem obsessed with firing handgun bullets from rifles and rifle bullets from handguns.
Duke Nukem to be fair, .500 is probably a lot more pleasant in this.
Probably, I just don't see why this should exist when there's already a gazillion rifle calibers with equal power and much better range. Maybe for the guys who like the "big bore brush gun" this will fit some niche that isn't already covered.
Well.. For a prepper or whatever you want to make most out of what you have
Really beatiful gun. Can't believe the rear sights move with the bolt though..
