That’s one big bullet , it has a lovely piece of wood , hope your both keeping well , you always amaze me that you can shoot any guns very accurate. Stay safe and well best wishes from the UK
I knew a rifle for the 500 mag would come out sooner or later. People just seem obsessed with firing handgun bullets from rifles and rifle bullets from handguns.
Probably, I just don't see why this should exist when there's already a gazillion rifle calibers with equal power and much better range. Maybe for the guys who like the "big bore brush gun" this will fit some niche that isn't already covered.
Very cool! You are right I wish I could afford it! I have been kind of looking for a .500 magnum rifle, lever or bolt action. I don’t know why it’s just something I’ve always wanted. But $2,500 is a little more then I’m willing to spend considering I’d probably mostly only use it for plinking now and then. I do hunt once in a while but I’m not out hunting grizzlies or anything so I really don’t need such a big bullet.
The sling attachment, its recessed, inter-girly there. Nice feature! And more length is always good when dealing with the expander. Good bit of advise haha. But all joking aside, this is a sweet looking rig. The figure of the walnut caught my eye right off the bat. Beautiful. Would love to see how the premium stock looks on these, and I would love to own one someday myself. One day I may! as they say. Thanks for sharing this one with us Hickok, keep em comin!
Those were the swift a-frame federals . Those are 325 grain and the other box has the barnes expanders. You had two different ones that I seen . Keep up the awesome content 😎👍🏻
Have been developing .500 dia jacketed projectiles for about a decade for the Beowulf and the Smith. In a lot of cases the heavier bullets are more comfortable to shoot. The recoil pulse of those little 275s and a hot load will jab you where a 485 gr shoves you. The powder burn rate matters too.
That's a really beautiful gun. I'll spend big money on handguns; because I carry a handgun everyday. This rifle is worth the asking price; but not for me. As far as philosophy of use; it does nothing a 45-70 doesn't do, at 1/3 the price. Still, thank you for presenting it to us. Who knows? Maybe I'll change my mind in the future?
Yes. But it falls short of my 1895 45-70, with which I can go from a 325grn up to a 540grn if I desire, plus at a starting price of $2500 for the Big Horn, I'll pass.
That may be, but there's nothing I need a 700grn bullet for. The 540grn Garret will take anything that your mentioned 700grn will. A large critter won't think "Hey, I was just smoked by a 500 S&W....sure glad he didn't use a 45-70 on me"......& via-a-versus. If you want to throw a minimum of $2500 out for one of these, go for it. I've owned my 1895 for decades & I'd rather use that $2500 on other things. The 500 doesn't do anything the 45-70 can already do. It only has more energy on paper. Animals don't care about what's on paper. There are many an Elephant that have been dispatched with a heavy 45-70 & there's nothing that walks the earth larger than that.
If Hickock says it has " a little bit " of kick, I wonder how hard it kicks mere mortals.

That’s one big bullet , it has a lovely piece of wood , hope your both keeping well , you always amaze me that you can shoot any guns very accurate. Stay safe and well best wishes from the UK
Wow, that drives those big rams down. I want one !
Nice gun. I have a Beowulf, and love the big bore rounds. Fun to play with, but I want a lever action to play with as well.
I knew a rifle for the 500 mag would come out sooner or later. People just seem obsessed with firing handgun bullets from rifles and rifle bullets from handguns.
Duke Nukem to be fair, .500 is probably a lot more pleasant in this.
Probably, I just don't see why this should exist when there's already a gazillion rifle calibers with equal power and much better range. Maybe for the guys who like the "big bore brush gun" this will fit some niche that isn't already covered.
Well.. For a prepper or whatever you want to make most out of what you have
Ok, rogue elephants, the occasional grizzly bear, the cast of Deliverance...
Don't forget lost or condemned buildings! Lol 😂
and homeless people of course
Don't forget all four types of booger's and other things that go bump in the woods that the govt denys the existence of😎😂
Slurm its highly addictive takedown your drugged up felon
Rogue 2 liters
That thing hits like a concrete busting sledgehammer.
I just bought 1 of these iv also owned 3 500 s&w hand guns with different barrel lengths. I love this round
8:20 Hickok45 sent that can into the stratosphere! LMFAO
That has to be one of the best pistol caliber carbines. It has some pretty amazing power
2:39 Hickok for NRA President!!
how about u.s. president
timberjack460 how about yeah!
timberjack460 , I drove a Timberjack 460 for about a year. Not too bad of a skidder.
J. P. President of United Earth*
Then I might join
Around 16:37 when you shot the ram, both of the rams fell from the single round you fired. That's incredible.
My question is why has this taken so long to come out. I've been waiting for this since the 500 came out. it seemed like the logical next step to me.
It makes an amazing noise when racking a round into the chamber. Very sold, well made sounding!!
How about some field artillery next...?
Hickok45 is the best gun-channel ever!
Wild Bill Hickok
A very consistent shot at respectable distance , Age Is No Barrier & keep it fella !
powerful !! 1 round knocked down both rams , LoL .. good times !!
"I might very well miss....".
16:30 Nails it
I just bought the Model 89 with a 22" barrel. I'm from British Columbia and can't wait to go Moose and Elk hunting!
*THAT'S A BIGGGG BULLET*
Maui Demigod of the Wind and Sea Sure is
Yes. But it falls short of my 1895 45-70, with which I can go from a 325grn up to a 540grn if I desire, plus at a starting price of $2500 for the Big Horn, I'll pass.
3manfan you can get anywhere from the lowest weight 45/70 all the way to 700 grains, as a cartridge 500 s&w surpasses anything a 45/70 can do
That may be, but there's nothing I need a 700grn bullet for.
3manfan For the record, its "vice versa", not "via a versus"
