"If you don't like to workout it's probably because you haven't found the right type of workout" This is inspiring. Finding my passion this week! GO! GO! Awesome video.
Is 200 pounds at 18.5 body fat percentage really fat? Isn't that a decent body composition? May be losing some weight may be better for the heart. But other than that ...
I'm 53 years old and have been fat 90% of my adult life. My birthday is coming up and this is the last year I will be over 300 lbs. I'm a new to your videos, but finding inspiration from them. Keep it up and thank you for some much needed inspiration
Keep it up, man. Your life will be so much better. You'll have more energy, be less prone to health problems, your body (including brain) will function better, etc.. Being the type of person who takes care of their health will definitely benefit you more than the food you have to give up. :)
I love that Nick is still training for this goal! He's so motivational! He helps me train for my goal of chasing the sub 4 1500 this year. Also Nick, I'd love to see another race recap video soon! Those videos are so inspiring!
Nick you are the best motivator, always challenging people for some crazy things to do. Now is your turn! Thanks to you I started working out and even started fitness channеl. Basically I found my passion thanks to you! Now I'm challenging you for the Impossible squat! Do it! Hope you will last longer than me.
This is the most wholesome yet still entertaining youtube channel 👏 I do not workout regularly but your videos do bring a smile on my face everyday, thank you!
190 pounds, older, training in a completely different way than you did when you were a professional runner and still running a 5 minute mile is incredible. And you can probably still pull 475 in the deadlift. Very, very impressive.
That was really different and nice. Great creativity Nick. Keep em coming. Be yourself to the fullest. Your videos are so positive and inspiring. Thank you for that🙏💙👊
When Nick said “Fit comes in all different sizes” it almost brought tears to my eyes; basically I’m a female gymnast who’s always been teased for being “fat” I was actually very fit for gymnastics though. I preferred doing tumbling in gymnastics and I took advantage of the fact that I don’t have a fear of moving/flipping backwards. I always started my pre tumbling exercise as 10 1 minute back bends and a lot of other stuff related to my back/ribs. I was the best backwards tumbler in my practices. And almost everyone was wondering how, because I looked fat. The truth is, imagine this. Your a dinosaur (ribs) protecting your eggs (vital organs) and a predator (bending backwards) comes in. The dinosaur is always going to COME OUT of the place it was originally in to protect its eggs. If that doesn’t make sense than basically when I flip my ribs go outward giving me that fat disguise when in reality it’s my ribs trying to protect my vital organs even more. If your one of those people who judge people for weighing and looking different. Just stop Nobody’s cheering you on. I’m not exaggerating when I say those people ruin life’s. I was mentally unstable, depressed, and cried myself to sleep while saying horrible things about me. I was disgusted by the way I looked. (Now I know that no matter what my golden heart shines through and makes me beautiful) it’s horrible how older, popular, and pretty people can manipulate these gorgeous girls to thinking they are ugly. The truth is you are you and that’s what matters! Your beautiful just the way you are is another way of saying what Nick was saying
I honestly loved this video that focused on you and splashed in some advice for viewers. This gives me motivation just to get under a 7 minute mile by March. Thanks Nick 😆
Great advice about not worrying necessarily about the number on the scale, but the % numbers of muscle and fat comp. Also, going from 5:40 to 5:04 is terrific and I'm assuming that's still being on a cal deficit! 7 months I've lost 28lbs and have been able to improve my run time! It's no 5 minute... (it's 10:58) but from where I was till now, huge improvement. You'll get it for sure! Like you said, just have to keep training!
well done!!!! Yeah I still need to cut a little bit more. The cut is hurting my deadlift though. Hoping I can load back up and hit it here in a few more weeks
@@nicksymmonds Nick, are you going to be tapering off volume on deadlift leading up to your next attempt? High volume on a heavy lift like deadlifts while on a cut can be pretty brutal on recovery. By the way as a lifter who is casually into running I think being able to run anything under 6 while lifting those kinds of weights is extremely impressive, I know how challenging it is to perform in both of those disciplines together.
Crazy, I was just browsing through your recent videos today thinking that I missed seeing your own personal efforts and challenges, and was tired of the cash giveaways... And then just a few hours later you come out with this! We’re BACK! Awesome effort, and great work thinning down in a sustainable way the last month, instead of pulling a UA-cam classic crazy crash diet!
I'm currently slimming down from 170 -> 160 lbs to climb some 5.12 routes in Kalymnos this spring, I really sympathize with how hard a process it is to lose weight while retaining muscle and still training hard each day.
It’s been killing me watching you struggle with this challenge for over a year, so here’s my “unsolicited internet advice” from a ex-D1 track athlete and national medalist weightlifter: You should really be working with a renowned powerlifting coach to get on a strict DL-centric program for 2-3 months, lifting 4x/wk with mesocycles. You could easily get your DL up to 525+ to give yourself more leeway for the run and do so without gaining extra body fat. Just the form fix and neurological adaption alone. Once you have strength in reserve, you could take DLing down to 1x/wk while you train running and you’ll accomplish this easily.
@@DoctorMotorcycle Nick's hit 500 as a 1rm, meaning that he'd have to tie his alltime (100% effort) best in different conditions and then run an all-out mile as his neurological system is smoked. It'd be significantly easier for him if he was capable of pulling 525+ so he'd only have to hit 95% or less in this challenge. He'd give himself a fighting chance.
Couldn't have said it any better. Everyone has their own workout goals and everyone is a different kind of fit depending on their goals. Never listen to comments on the internet. Everyone always has something to say. U inspire a lot of people and hope everyone who reads this is not discouraged to start their journey. Skinny/ripped, big/buff it doesn't matter as long as you're feeling good in your body and setting goals for yourself!

504 is still beast. As a skater and and a Paratrooper I 💯% agree that fitness comes in all shapes and sizes. I see guys out there skating that you wouldn't think had an athletic bone in their body jet they they are skating for hours and looking light on their feet. As a Paratrooper you see skinny troopers lifting heavy things and big guys getting in the miles. I love it. It inspires me to always be out pushing it with people 25 years younger than me. Best way I use to lean down is long ruck marches. Something about a load pack and lots of miles just do it for me. Stay Rad Nick.
Nick! Much love from SoCal. I got into xc/track late in high school back in 2008..You were a great inspiration and you were always the only runner who seemed to be having fun on/off the track. Having said that, you got fat bro lol
Weighing yourself 1x per week does not reduce the "day-to-day" variations. You have the same noise around that 1 measurement, albeit with a larger signal (a week's worth of lost weight). Weighing yourself every and paying attention to the 7-day moving average would lower the variance.
I thought the same thing. Your body doesn't know it's Monday and not to retain extra water or have a really good poo just bc that's what you did last Monday. More data is better as long as it's taken at the same time every day.
I don't like running, but I have found workouts that I do like. I started working out in the beginning of december and I really enjoy lifting weights. For cardio, I really like the rowing machine for some reason. I also do quite a lot of fast walking on an inclined treadmill. Running just hurts my legs so much and I can't keep it going for more than a minute at a time.Maybe it'll get easier when I lose more weight, so I will try again. For general cardio/weightloss I also take walks outside several times a week which I enjoy as well. Finding activities that you enjoy and don't have to force yourself to do is vital to be able to stay motivated.
