Running 24 Miles in 24 Hours

- It would have been wayyyyy easier to run all 24 miles at once. Think of it this way, you know how when you go for a run it takes a mile or two to warm up and feel good? Well in this challenge EVERY mile was that painful warm up mile! More from this challenge here / nicksymmonds

24 miles 24 hours and the video is 24 minutes was this intentional?
Wait nick you should do David goggins challenge it’s 4 miles every 4 hours for 24

24 minute video 😎
My favorite number is 24
Kobe is proud
@Alex Kroeger 25!!
Ooh, didn’t notice that. Nice touch
Lol and I am a huge huge kobe fan. All my jerseys are #24
There's a UA-camr named Beau Miles who ran a marathon over 24 hours 1 mile an hour, and also built a table, planted a tree, and played Monopoly and a bunch of others things on the same day. Even this video is impressive. It inspired me to do something similar some day.
Don't do it.
Planted 26 trees. Made a paddle. Made a table. Hung some pictures ... . He also did a follow up last year where he walked the 1-mile loop with his new baby that gives a completely different perspective on the same lap.
Love Beau, he's great. His mile an hour: ua-cam.com/video/EvT5XS7j-Dc/v-deo.html
I was going to say the same
Beau is a great story teller. I watch every minute of his. He actually ran a full marathon in that vid. He started off with a 5k so it ended up being 26 miles in 24 hrs. I kind of skipped around watching this.
Pink man with the clutchest parking spot for the trials too haha
Sup aj!
We need a big mac mile #2!!
Yo ajjjj
The dedication nick has is amazing.
And Ryan the Camera Guy!!! We make a great team.
@@nicksymmonds Best Duo I have ever seen Just like Batman and Robin. Also cant wait for you to come to Boston Im apart of a track team and we would love to meet you.
@@nicksymmonds Why didn't you give Beau Miles credit for this idea. A bit disingenuous not reference him. I like your video but would have been good to reference at least in the description Beau's original video of "A mile an hour"
@@supernoodles908 bro I don’t think he knew about that don’t blame him

I gotta say, something I really admire about Nick, never afraid to be a beginner and take on new challenges ever after being on the top of the running world.
Yes man he is so open!
Agree!
@@cheery-hex 💪
Shoutout to Beau Miles for creating this challenge and inspiring nick and other UA-camrs to make similar videos
Yeah I'm annoyed Beau didn't get any credit
@@treyellis3 same
@@treyellis3 Is anything it was David Goggins, which is actually tougher because it’s 4 mile run in 2 hours for 24 hours. Pretty much like running 20 miles in 24 hours. If you’re fast enough you can knock out a 4 miler in a half an hour, like I can, then it means you get more rest. My fastest mile while doing the Goggins style challenge was 7:26 because I wasn’t pushing too hard I was just going to see how much of that I could do. I got up to about 10 hours (or about 14 miles) and that was all I could do.
@@treyellis3 I guess.. but not a new idea.Imma guess tons of runners have some random thought like this. We talked about this exact run, 1mile an hour for 24 hours, in college as an off season, fuck around team building thing.
Eliud Kipchoge be like:
26.2 miles in sub 2 hours
Eliud would crush this challenge!
I've run a marathon before. In a lot of way a marathon is much easier than this challenge.
Yeah, also hi.
@@nicksymmonds yeah, im not a great runner, but i find it easier to run 6 miles all at once than to run 1 mile six different times. running miles in intervals and with breaks is much more stress on your nervous system and requires much more energy. also, eating while you're burning so much energy is difficult for your body because your body is working overtime trying to simultaneously repair and energize your muscles with food that's sloshing around in your stomach still. digestion is supposed to take time.
@@MaxwellChan0 awesome that you watch nick as well Max 🙂
If you haven't seen Beau Miles mile an hour marathon, go seek it out. One of my favorite (under-the-radar) UA-camrs
thats what this is a rip off of
Oath. Beau Miles is the greatest
He's a legend!
@@orcaidhne agreed. Beau did this one better
@@orcaidhne I wouldn’t call it a rip off. He’s not claiming he was the first person to do this and he might not even have known about Beau Miles.

I love that Nick's always positive vibes and humility. Like even though he's an Olympian and I'm a mortal, I feel like I wouldn't feel intimidated to work out with him because he seems so inclusive and welcoming. Great vids! :)
I don't know if you've heard of Beau Miles, but he made a film doing a very similar challenge and it's one of my favorite short films to watch on UA-cam. So when you announced you were doing this same type of challenge I got very happy. This video (like all your others) is so fun and inspirational and I'm so glad you have this space where runners can come together and share their passion. Keep up the incredible work dude, to you and your team.
I did this challenge last year for my 16th birthday. Really fun and miserable at the same time, especially since I didn’t plan on it beforehand and I did it all alone. I ran 1.1-1.3 every hour to hit a total of about 27 miles, every one being sub 8, which was my goal. Some highlights include seeing a bighorn sheep in the middle of the road in my suburban area (there’s a property with goats/sheep on that route), and seeing random teen pushing a car around with their friend on top. This year I think I’ll try 4 miles every 4 hour for 48 hours.
Thanks for sharing!
One of the most underrated content creators imo. Always putting in that work, keep it up Nick👊🔥
Underrated?? He has over a million miles... What are you talking about!!??
Nick is definitely one of my favorite youtubers right now. Hilarious and driven 😂 love the content buddy, keep it up
In high school I wa part of a ten man 24 hour relay where each person runs a mile, and hands it off to the next guy. It worked out at about a timed mile every hour. It was brutal. We broke an obscure record for it, because so few teams had tried it.
No one going to give credit to that little girl who appeared in like 4 of the races!!!?
little kids need to do zoomie stuff like this just so they can go to sleep at night.
oldfrend still impressive she’s running with an Olympic champion!
For real and then she did a cart wheel when she won a race. I can't even run a 10min mile... Let alone have energy to do a cartwheel after one. She's an animal 😂
@@lottiee964 I don't think he's an Olympic champion
@@JJ-iu5hl he is
Nice to see Evan finally win something and be the bride.
Reminds me of the 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. :) love what you bring to the sport, great content!
You should try the murph
Run a mile
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 squats
Run another mile
i could do that in my sleep
Don’t forget the 20 pound weight vest
@@brandonzapata4910 ok brandon
could do that
It’d take me a while tho, 1 hr prob
It’s nice to know that the collegiate runners can make money off their brand now
Another new Nick Symmonds video! You’re one of my favorite UA-camrs! I’d love it if you had a running event in Massachusetts because I’d love to be in it. Running is one of my favorite sports!
In case you don’t know, a UA-camr called “Beau Miles” came up with idea
actually going 1mile per hour is harder than rly running and I love how the video is 24min so its 1mile per min
haha he probably could've walked the whole thing faster than 24 hrs and been less stress on his body.
The more I watch Nick the more I realize how much of a good person he is
Except he ripped this idea from an Aussie named Beau Miles and didn't give him any credit
I love how it went from super fit sporty vibes to college frat guy vibes. This guy is an absolute king!
Y'all should look up "Beau miles" on doing this
It made me smile that the video keeps the theme of "24" with a runtime of exactly 24 mins :)
I’ve always wanted to do this, but I was skeptic, but seeing you do this, gives me inspiration to do it
I did it with my team, it’s really fun but also hard
its funny because if you recorded this yesterday evan could've taken the money
haha. glad he got the shoes at least
that’s what I was thinking!
still kinda fuzzy on the new rules, but i believe they're still not allowed to take prize money from competition, just marketing and image sales.
@@oldfrend yeah. This was also recorded before the rule was changed in the first place
This video might be a year old, but it's what I needed to see TODAY! Thanks Nick for the push! I'm on day 13 in a 30-day challenge and I really didn't wanna do my work out tonight- super tired and exhausted. I found this video and to my surprise it was exactly what I needed to see and hear! No pain, no gain!! Keep up the amazing work!
Love the video! Always love the content, Nick. You definitely remind me of how much fun running is!
Running is awesome
RunGum/Nick need to sponsor Evan now that NCAA athletes can profit off their NIL
i love how you ran 24 miles in 24 hours in a 24 minute video
"always wanted to try" ever since he saw Beau Miles do it
Nick is on that grind!! 💪 such great dedication
I hope in the video you at leat give credit/ props to Beau Miles
I’ve done this before and the running was not the tough part, it was getting absolutely sore in the middle. Nice job Nick!
Way to go Nick! I did this challenge a few weeks ago too! Definitely easier to run the whole thing at once rather than breaking it up. Keep up the cool challenges!
This is gonna be a banger
Next challenge: run a 5k everyday in every state

So well filmed :)
Yes a banging vid too get the weekend started go nick
Captain Tom always comes to the rescue 👨✈️
Good thing Evan can accept those shoes now with Name and Likeness sponsorships.
Congratulations on setting the goal and sticking to it. Setting goals is easy, finishing is difficult. I've observed many things in here. How important it is for our friends to be part of the journey and doing it together makes all the difference at the same time you were all alone in the last mile. Even that has a message that no matter what, you yourself are responsible for finishing the task. There is so much of learning in this task and thank you for inspiring me. Loved it.
Love from India 🇮🇳

This stuff is great. I remember back in 2017 when he started this account... 2,000 followers. Well done Nick!
Nick: Why did I just do this
😂
Btw those drone shots were actually so cool
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but the Beau Miles documentary is transcendent
I did this with 12 hours and 12 miles on a hilly course! Tough challenge and great for marathon training! Very inspiring!
We just hit 25K likes! Am I going to see you in Maine?? It’s where I live!! Haha
Wow!!
Damn Capt Tom deserves a medal!!!
What an aboslute legend!!!
I did this one too a few months back so I know the pain… props to you Nick!! 💪🏻
Tom: I ate a pretty spicy chip.

"If it ain't hard, it ain't worth doing". So much respect to you for finishing this!
The fact that this video is exactly 24 minutes👌🏻
Oh yeah
Tom is an amazing friend! Also pink man was clutch motivating! Great job Nick!
Nick if you do a video in DC this summer or fall, I’d totally bring me and some of my high school team for it! Northern Virginia(which is where I run) has a pretty good distance track and XC lineup!
Not to downplay how challenging this might be, but imagine just running 24 hours straight. The world record distance for that is an almost incomprehensible 198.5 miles, or more than 7.5 marathons.
Try running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. It can get intense for the last runs.
I definitely think you should’ve tagged beau in the description or something for pioneering this challenge
This video is very satisfying. 24 miles, 24 hours, 24 minutes on the dot
Now its 24 miles, 24 hours, 24 minutes, 24k likes and 241 dislikes
This video took 24 hours just to shoot! Congrats man on that one, the effort that goes into these videos is insane
You need to do a spicy run challenge
This guys running videos rock so hard. Love his energy!
Truly inspiring…especially from 23:00-23:45, that gave me goosebumps
All of your videos are incredible but this is by far the most impressive. Even your last few miles you were able to keep a great pace. You are such a huge inspiration to help me get back into shape.
Is everyone gonna ignore the fact that this video goes for exactly 24 minutes?
Watching this video saturday morning, with a good cup Of coffee and now i feel like going for a run. Thanks nick for the great videos and motivation to workout. Greetings from Finland :)
If u go to the east coast don’t forget about Virginia, lot of runners there
Yeah it’s funny how “east coast” starts at dc… what about the other 2/3rds of the coast?
My high school did this challenge around a month ago but it was 2 miles every hour for 12 hours
It was pain, the fact that you spread it over 24 hours has me in awe of your mental toughness
Wth, is everybody in your school an athletes?
No this was just my cross country team
My team and city does this event ever year for suicide prevention we actually just had ours last weekend
Only fitting that the video was 24 minutes long. I love your videos Nick!! This looks super tough and painful too. Immense dedication 🙏🙏
1 Mile an hour! Sounds so easy, but it sure isn’t! Congrats!
my high school XC team did a "24-hour marathon" fundraiser at the end of the season during which we'd get sponsored for every mile we ran within 24 hours. We did half-mile loops on the road since the street lights were on all night, unlike the track which went dark at sunset (i.e mid-afternoon). I got in 45 miles my senior year when I chose not to bring a sleeping bag in order to avoid the temptation of sleep. It wasn't every hour on the hour like Nick here, but I did manage to get in 2 miles each hour almost the whole time. Ah, to be young and uncorrupted again...
Bet a shower, and bed never looked more welcoming when nick got home.
Show up to Ocean City Maryland, lots of fast runners that love your channel!!
I was hoping youd say georgia when you were talking about an east coast trip
Ong I live in Gainesville Georgia
This guy is underrated, his videos are so cool and he does things that most youtubers don’t. This guys deserves at least 10 million.
“Tulsa” otherwise known as Brandon.
You should do a day in the life video after one of these challenges to showcase your recovery or basically just how your body is doing the next day, I think that would be cool.
I did this challenge with a friend of mine to raise money for pediatric cancer. It was so hard!

The return of Evan
*East Coast Idea for NY:*
You could visit the baseball hall of fame (HOF). Derek Jeter is getting inducted into the HOF September 8th, 2021
Could maybe do some type of baseball-themed track event? 😎
This is unimaginably hard! Amazing performance Nick. most creative UA-cam man ever!!
this guy's voice sounds exactly like brandon walsh voice
Yo truee
There is a guy who just came through my town. My college xc team ran w him to help support his cause. He runs for 24 hours straight without stopping, he started at 9am and finished at 9am the next morning. He completed 80 miles and it’s all to help raise awareness for suicide and veterans.
Now Evan can accept the money next time he wins, because of the NCAA rule changes 😂
And the video is exactly 24 minutes long. PERFECTION
Evan can definitely take all the money you owe him now!
The fam and I really enjoy these videos. Bigups.
Gonna give Beau Miles credit for doing it first?
I didn't hear Nick claim to be the first and only person to do something like this, so not sure why there's so many haters and whiners crying about Beau Miles did it first and Beau Miles needed to be credited by Nick. Try getting off the couch and just try doing 1/2 of what Nick does instead of couch crying. 😢
i know this was hard. especially with day drinking, entertaining guests, working, and running in the heat. You're the man nick
Why would you pick a course that’s multi lap per mile? You are gonna do that 72 times
Cause he can get work done between miles
Amazing video!! Also surprised no one has mentioned her yet, but the 21st birthday girl who ran the mile in high heels!!! Power move!! Also what a 21st birthday 🤣
You lost me at beers and whiskey 👋
Yeah it was very trashy
I'm waiting for a video with Eliud and Nick running together. That would be an awesome collab video to watch!
