Another stellar entry in this series from the both of ya, and a nice return to the series with crewed flights. Begin Report: As stated in earlier reports, the Ka program remains superior to the Kel X platform, even with it's most recent iteration of the black knight. A recent test of the Ka 4 took it to 200 000 kilometers apoapsis as a part of a contract by the ministry of space, a retrograde burn being essential to it's sucess, giving the pilot some valuable experience that was then used to great effect in the... first manned flight of the vostok. There was 2 of them, after all. Further, I have included a translated recording of a televised transmission sent by the the newly minted hero of the union, Yuri Kerman, from Vostok 2's flight. And the rather hopeful message included within. While... not indicative of their space program or the union's opinions at large, it is a promising sign of potential for future co-operation between individuals from both agencies in an unofficial capacity. That, or it's all scripted propaganda. The soviets are taking firearms into space after all. It would also appear both agencies are approaching the limit of these spaceplane design's capabilities with the currently available technology, so further focusing on rocket launches is expected
Yes on all accounts this report is accurate. The destruction of the X-4 lies on the shoulders of our test pilot, who, having every chance to abort his flight, pushed on anyways. Though courage and stupidity have the same definition, unfortunately we believe officials and politicians - the people who write our paychecks - will view this as the latter. Peter himself admits it was an emotional choice. Such mistakes cannot happen again. As Peter is such a valuable asset, repremands will not keep him grounded as in previous years. We must push forward, but not recklessly. We must not become laughable in the eyes of the world. Luckily this event has been swept under the rug quite easily in the shadow of our crewed orbital flight, even being second to comlete this feat by a mere month, the even has boosted morale and attention sevenfold. Our advances bring us closer to matching the Soviets capabilities, and we must not falter. *static*

Someone mentioned Khonsu, the Egyptian god of the Moon, as a replacement name for Apollo. May I suggest then Kaguya, the Japanese princess of the Moon ? I'd suggest Tsukuyomi because he's a proper god and all but it's quite the mouthful.
@@N9GamingOfficial when you get the manned spacecraft encounter contract you should try to bring a missile inside the spacecraft just to attempt to destroy one of these Russian satellites

Listening to your absolutely professional commentary makes me forget I'm watching a video game and immerses me so much I feel like I'm watching the History Channel! Love your channel and Beardy's channel both! Great stuff guys!
I've said it before, but this kind of friendly competition combined with the context of you narration adds a surprising amount of stakes to this series. In some ways, it actually has higher stakes than the various Kerbal War series. In Kerbal War, no-one wants things to end too fast, so things get a little overbalanced behind the scenes. In For All Kerbalkind, losing is a very real possibility that wouldn't kill the series.
Good stuff, man! Rocking the X-plane and a proper Mercury-Atlas in an hour long marathon of goodness! Glad to have you guys back! It's a good time for all! -CM
This is great I kinda feel like you're the first Ro guy I've seen that doesn't come off condescending. It's just easy listening to you talk about your missions. Def thumbs up!
For the Apollo problem, maybe go with Arkemis, or maybe kelios, after Artemis and Helios, the goddess of the moon (I think) and the titan of the sun respectfully
First thing that came to my mind when you mentioned the K-4's vertical flight profile was how high the G load would be during reentry. I've seen discussions of that issue related to real world spaceplane development, with an estimate of 12 G for a 200 km apogee -- and going higher, of course, increases your reentry velocity, hence your 15 G experience. The conclusion of that discussion was that one *must* plan for a trajectory with significant horizontal velocity (= downrange travel, of course; IIRC ~300 km downrange was considered a minimum) and a "belly flop" reentry attitude relative to velocity vector in order to be able to apply aerodynamic braking at higher altitudes and shed more velocity before entering dense air. In real world, 12-15 G hanging from the straps has considerable risk of outright killing your pilot; the human neck isn't up to that kind of stress.
I haven't ever changed my install much after deciding on my initial mod list way back when, but that brushed aluminum livery is going to be the thing that forces me to change. So sweet.
Tip to save time: In Testlite (or Testflight) you have infinite ignitions if on the launchpad or clamped down - so you could've saved so much time because you wouldn't have to rollback! and well done!
Kaballo, Spanish for horse, and name the particular capsule to get your lunar landing Bukephalus! It's the least you could do, after landing in Mexico more than once...
Hey, N9, how did you make an actually functional Mer-At Recreation? I've done the most realistic replica possible, using the RO adapters from the satellite era tech nodes, etc, yet the delta-V margins get stuck at 6-8k, and i barely reach orbit. I have everything upgraded, adjusted, yet nothing. Details?
That Katlas looks fantastic! I know you have a video showing how you made it, but it's very long and getting a chance to watch it isn't going to be easy.
Coming back and rewatching this series. But now i have a question. Why do RCS and or smaller engines light and push "forward" before main engine ignition?
That is to settle fuel towards the engine! In zero G fuel will float and slosh around inside a fuel tank, thrusting forwards will push all of it into the engine, settling it, and making sure to avoid having vapor in fuel lines. RealFuels simulates this iirc!
This is so much fun watching these, great job again too Beardy and you. Just realized your two episodes are about movie length now - wow, time to cancel Netflix.
