Budget wise im I am one with your sentiments I also attempted to convert my AR the same way you did but somehow I realized being an advocate of responsible gun ownership and an active military offocer, its for the best that PNP-FEO did or should not allow such upgrade or modification since it will compromise ballistic information and create confusion during evidence collection. And in the event that a converted weapon was use to commit a crime or even during self defense this can become an alibi to avoid confiscation which the PNP wouldnt want to happen . I hope other civilian should understand and be grateful that the PNP allowed the civilian community to own high caliber weapons.Mabuhay tayong mga Pinoy responsible gun-owner!!!!!
I have the same CMMG conversion kit and it's very temperamental. I've tried various ammo through it and also tried it in different rifles and I would say it works 60-70% of the time. I am considering swapping some of the parts to make it a dedicated 22 LR bolt and assemble a dedicated rimfire rifle. The economy sucks right now so it will have to wait.
I have a similar 22LR conversion kit made by J Ciener Co from the 1980s. We solved most of the reliability problems by wrapping 2 layers of scotch tape around the neck of the dummy cartridge that’s in front of the bolt carrier. When I visited Davao during the Cory days, I saw similar Ciener 22kits for the AR and AK at the PNP range in Ma-a.
What if you dont have any other 22lr firearm, how will ammo buying work? your LTOPF and FA reg will only have 5.56 and not 22lr. What will you present to the gunstore?
Ganito na naman ang mangyayari sir pag pinayagan man yan tataas na naman yung presyo ng bala ng 22 if papayagan yan alam mo naman ang pinas kung demand mamahal papatungan nila ng presyo hanggang leeg.

That is an excellent IDEA ! To switch to 22 caliber --it saves money !!!! Question: can you switch to 22 MAGNUM ?
