It’s puzzling why gun stores in the Philippines have significantly raised their prices on guns and ammunition compared to the US market, where prices are much lower. For example, a Staccato P handgun costs around PHP 150,000 in the US, while in the Philippines, it is priced at PHP 455,000, excluding firearm registration fees. It's no wonder that people are reluctant to support local businesses when faced with such disparities. What a farce.

What i have noticed is that if something that sells in the US for X amount, multiply that by 100 and you will more or less get the retail price here or close to it. For example if a pistol costs 600 usd, it would be something like 60,000 php here. I use this as a general rule of thumb. If the price here goes over that x100 then I think its way overpriced. Ideally whatever the US price should only be multiplied against our currency conversion rate but the importer/gun store may have to factor in shipping, storage, taxes, profit etc. So if a IWI AR15 srp in the US is almost 1000 usd, this same rifle should cost no more than 100,000 php here. That said it is sad if gunstores jack up their prices. I would rather wait for a reasonable price or skip purchasing altogether if i felt that the price was exorbitant. Now this is just my opinion and i may be wrong but Its just sad that some people in our community are willing to pay these exorbitant prices further encouraging a vicious cycle of unreasonable price gouging. Guys and gals, lets vote with our wallets so to speak, and not buy stuff which are unreasonably priced. This should hurt the greedy ones and hopefully rein them in
If this is the case, why not apply for a license and setup your own gun store and sell these type of rifles at reasonable prices. You can even bring in better rifle brands.
