      His dedication to freely sharing this information for all is remarkable. It's also a wise business move. By making successful gardeners, he is gaining life long friends and customers. One thing he always says that hit me hard is, you don't have to buy it from him. Helping people be successful with no hidden motives says a lot about his love, integrity, and honesty.

    I have the trio of Zymes, EM-5, and Tweetmint. I try to spray with Zymes and EM-5 throughout Veg to keep things clean and only use the Tweetmint when I have a problem. That said, my wife got some flowers for her birthday and they brought tiny friends with them. These friends moved into her kitchen herb garden and I just started rotating all three to knock back these pests and keep them away from my medicinal garden. Zymes, mixed with a little Q and Aloe honestly took care of them after first spray. I just followed it up now with the tweetmint to keep them from coming back and will do a light cleanse with EM-5 in a day or three.
    As for Katrina Black Mold remediation, my son used some stuff called Sniper which is a hospital disinfectant. Nothing organic about it, but spray it on mold and wipe it away. Amazing stuff, but nothing I would use near plants.

    We make our own compost, local leafmold & worm casting tea, an similarly use it prophylactic[ly]. I stay away from adding sugars but instead use extreme continuous aeration. I understand that most homegrowers can't dedicate the space an time an that a premix is super convenient. Personal view on molasses is its kinda like trying to survive on redbull & mcdonalds but if that's what you're using make sure it's unsulphured or you'll kill your biologics.

  • @StillFunBrewing
    @StillFunBrewing Рік тому

    I do want to say that a EM5 type product is really nice. I make a KNF plant and fruit ferment with brown sugar, once I extract the molasses thick black goo from that, I add water and yeast to the leftovers and make an alcohol. From that I then add organic apple cider vinegar and ferment that alcohol to vinegar. That gives me my 3 parts to my EM5 version. The fermented plant juice to feed my EM1 and activate it. Then mix that at the appropriate ratio to the vinegar/alcohol mixture and I always use my potassium hydroxide based JADAM wetting agent “insecticidal soap”. One application about an hour before lights on and my plants are praying to the lights and are clean/bug free. I alternate that with JADAM liquid sulfur and JWA for my ipm. I can’t stress how effective it really is.

    So I live on a farm on floodplains in Australia and the guy I bought it from said he wished he could take the soil with him bc it’s so fertile and black. So my question is can I just use some of this soil and add peat moss and some aeration material like vermiculite, perlite or pumice and plant in that or should I add worm castings to it as well as other amendments. I just get the feeling that I’m kinda overthinking it. All my wife’s roses and other plants go crazy just in the soil outside and she doesn’t tend to any of them outside of their initial transplanting. I intend on growing under an se3000 in a 3x3.

    I've used EM1from my beginning in growing canna, 3 short years ago. If it had been available when I had started organic farming many decades ago, it would have been added with my compost tea spraying program.
    Up until this current grow, I've not had any pest problems. The biggest reason was the life I got from MY earthworm castings. The past summer heat got to my bin. I bought some high quality compost for this run mainly for the life. While I got some good helpers, it was a bit too moist and it had damn gnats ! Damn shame too! It's quality was obvious with staining of my hands. I trusted where I got it from, so I didn't isolate it for a period before use.
    I set up my earthboxes a bit different than Jeremy. The base media really only has Dynomoco added and the moisture content adjusted with a little concoction with compost tea as the main ingredient. I throw it into a tote, get the moisture level up to 'composting levels', sprinkle a little organic chicken laying crumble on top for feed and top with EM1 bokashi. I let this 'cook' for about two weeks, with fresh media, loner if reusing. This will make for a very active media to pot up.
    When filling the Earthbox, I leave a lot of room for the nute mound. I go ahead and build my Nute bank at the time of potting up. My nute mound is quite large, I think. Definitely a lot larger than what Jeremy does. I usually only have to top dress one more time. Once fully formed, the nute mound moisture is brought up and they are left to sit for about a week. This gives time for the life I added from my EWC and other things to get well established. I keep the planting area clear of the nute mound so there won't be any germination problem.
    The day I dropped seeds, I saw a couple of gnats.......the first of many! The first two girls up are fine, only slightly stunted, but not so the others. There was a HUGE hatch. I had four outta seven failures. I only had one out of 18 on the last run! I got it under control fairly quickly, but the damage and delay had occurred. Things are good now with the replacements beginning to get their legs under them and the two more advanced girls are raging at 25 days old and will be fully 'on the rez' with tonight's filling.
    From now on, like with growing media, all bulk material with go thru a cooking and isolation period in totes before use. Next step is to get my worm bin reestablished!
    My point to this long ass post is to share my take on BAS method of running Earthboxes and that Jeremy has shown another product that I could add to my arsenal in growing canna with EM5. I've seen it on the site, but just thought of it as JUST a cleaning product. Today's vid showed it's more than that.
    Oh yeah. The garlic fermented with EM1 worked great with insects on my one outdoor grow!!
    Jeremy! Thanks for this series!
    You started the series just after my first canna row in fabric pots and mid grow of my first regular Earthbox grow. I used Earthboxes recommendations. LOL! I fought all that damn dolomite the whole damn grow! LOL! It didn't make sense and it wasn't! LOL!
    I've taken the info in this 10x10 series, done my take from my many decades of organic farming and principals. It's an ongoing process and I try to make improvements and tweaks to every new grow and my canna show it in quality and quantity.
    You and this series has greatly helped me in growing my meds and the meds I give to other disabled Vets that aren't able to get them otherwise. You can buy all the quality genetics in the world, they are just a small snack for birds if you don't have an effective method for growing!
