Thank you for the update, I finished my 1st 25 litres of soil bacteria 2 weeks ago so it’s good to know I can store it in the fridge instead of starting from scratch again. Excellent video as usual 👍
Oh my goodness! It worked! I’m adding nanners to mine to feed my sweet potatoes! I’m so excited. Things don’t usually work the first time, but this one did, for me. Woohoo!
I've done well tossing everything from weeds to manure into a bucket, letting it continuously steep in rainwater. Just strain off, dilute, and apply straight to plants. Then just throw more weeds in and top off with water. When the bucket accumulates an excess of solids, just fork it out and apply as mulch. It stinks and it works beautifully!
Great. I had some cow manure in a bucket of water which was great the first time. Second time it smelt rank but I used it anyway and lost everything I watered. It’s a fine line I think, and as soon as I have enough good compost, I think I’ll just stick to water and sunlight.
@@TheWeedyGarden It may not be a problem where you are, but here in the states hay and manure are killing gardens all over. Aminopyralids are sprayed on hay crops to kill broadleaf plants. What a pleasure to watch; you do such incredible productions. Of the gardening mistakes I made this year, I am aware of 25 of them. Thank you so much for this one. I started 7 days ago and ready to add milk to my mixture. As I have a large document that contains all of my gardening information, I added your soil mixture to it...and wanted to share it, should it benefit you or other gardeners. I hope I understood your instructions correctly. Soil Bacteria (The Weedy Garden) - Making soil bacteria can take from 9-21 days. Start with ½ gallon (2 liters) of clean water (remove the chlorine and ammonia). Possibly consider using rain water? Add Rice - Mix 2.1 cups (1/2 kilo) of white starchy rice into the water and let it sit for a while (overnight). What you have primarily in the water is lactobacillus bacteria….a good thing o Strain out the rice; you are left with milky looking water. Cover the top of the container with a cloth covering and place a rubber band around it the edges. o Let it Stew - Place the container in a dark area for about 3-7 days (when the mixture smells sweet, its ready). Add Milk - In order to separate any bad bacteria contained in the mixture, add a little over 4.2 cups (1 liter) of organic cow milk (full cream, and or pasteurized and homogenized cow milk). o Let it Stew - Place the mixture back in the dark for 3-7 days. Note, use molasses without Sulphur, or brown or raw sugar. o Let it Stew - Stir the mixture up and let it sit for 7 days. Take 3.4 ounces (100 ml) of the soil bacteria and add it to 2.6 gallons (10 liters) of clean water. o For a standard 25-gallon drum (94.6 liters), take 33 ounces of the soil bacteria and add it to 25 gallons of clean water. o Storage - To avoid high temperatures which can kill the bacteria, place the drum in a shady / cool area. Conversions 100 milliliters = 3.4 ounces (less than 1/2 cup) ½ cup = 4 ounces 250 milliliters = 1 cup ½ kilogram = 2.1 cups 1 liter = 4.2 cups 40 ounces = 5 cups 10 liters = 2.6 gallons 100 liters = 26.4 gallons

They can. And they do. Lots of teachers and parents are watching with kids. Some kids have even introduced Weedy to their parents and grandparents. It’s nice.
@@joycelynaustin768 I take the ripe banana peels that have been sitting in my mason jar for over a weeks, shake up the jar then fill my watering can with the banana water and water then pour over my plants. You can take out the peels and compost them and just use the banana water, I just use everything and add that to my watering can.
This must be the longest video of your channel but i love every detail and the effort you put into it. It's great and that bana smoothie i have tried it myself it's relly good.
I keep mine in the middle of my banana circle and it has lasted for months with no problems....great video Weedy....thank you...lots of little tweaks that I will adopt! Keep cool!
For a small scale garden, what is the ratio of how much to use mixed with gallons of water? The process is easy to understand with how it’s presented in the video. How much to put in the garden is where I get lost. Thank you!
Hi Weedy, I made 5 gallons of LABS after watching your first soil bacteria video. That was about a year and half ago. I keep it out of the sun. It smells the same as it did when I first made it, which is a bit like the molasses I used; however, I think it’s developed a SCOBY. There’s a thin, gelatinous layer coving the liquid.
Thanks again Dave for another master piece. I love your content. I am busy with experiments on 2 beds planted with exact same veg in same conditions however fed differently 1 using bacteria teas and the other inoculated with fungi, Mycelium. Will share results soon. Take care mate. Enjoy. Can't wait to watch January's episode. Have a fantastic festive season and keep your eyes on the sky December 21st. Peace, Love and Respect

fermenting vegetables is also a good source... plus the water you can use to kill the fungus on your plants.... would recomend JADAM Korean natural farming using bacteria to kill of pests
Really beautiful films David. Thank you so so much. I am binge watching them like a box set. You can give up your day job! I made a big bottle of whey and am keeping that in the fridge. There is a chicken poo bacteria factory going on in the shed. I am going to take my first peek today. Looking forward to add it to the community garden. Now I am re-watching the video, I see you are saying to keep the molasses brew in your fridge too? I wonder what the inside of your fridge looks like?! I used my only jar of expensive molasses on the chicken poo. I need to find a better source in London.
Have been loving the videos mate. 😁😁👍 Have you looked into KNF (Korean Natural Farming)? I think you'll find it very interesting and would love to see the videos you could come up with looking at how the IMO 1 fungus grows. 😁🍄 Cheers & Happy Growing Mate 🌱🌱🦠
As requested! Aquarist here: Technically, there are multiple forms of chlorination used to sterilize water supplies. In urban areas, cehloramines have become more popular as the compound lasts much longer than the older version of chlorine gas. Chloramine is a combination of nitrous and chlorine chemistry. It doesn't dissipate just by sitting open for 24 hours. You may be amazed to learn that photographer's hypo solution can be used to neutralize it for the safety of fish, snails, amphibians, and the very important nitrofying microbes that function in aquatic filtration systems. Back on topic, I have been thinking about where to get rice bran for bokoshi, and finally just realized I might be able to use the rice hulls (different part of the seed!) that I like to use for litter for my chickens. Great stuff, full of silica that helps it last a long time in composts as a drainage and aeration element for my heavy clay soil. Also on topic, when I find wood-only lump barbecue charcoal (no embedded lighter fluid!) it can be crushed and added to my compost.
Thanks Aquarist. That’s valuable info which I didn’t know at the time of making this video. I live by a creek, so I don’t have any issues with water. Thanks for the update 🙏💚👌👍🏼
You can also use ascorbic acid (Vit C) to neutralise chloramine molecule if that helps any. It can also be bought in bulk at a huge discount for those that want to treat large volumes of water. Might be a lot easier for most folks to obtain. 👍
There are different shades of brown sugar, depending on how much molasses it still contains (or is added back). If you can't get the right molasses, you could try dark brown sugar as it has the highest molasses content. Molasses would be best as it contains a lot of minerals.
it is wild to think i ended up going on a mission to find fulll cream milk here in Brazil. there are cows everywhere. the highest content one can usually find in a town is about 3% fat. i think i need to go find me a cow farmer.
Great video! I like to mix my LAB 1:1 with brown sugar but I don't add water. This is so my LAB can store longer in "osmotic pressure" in smaller containers until I need it. Then I put a tiny bit in my watering can and then add water :) thanks for your amazing photography skills and narrative. One of a kind!
I like the extra step of using molasses and chicken poo (whatever you want) in a lot of other garden videos using Korean nautural farming, the Lacto is mixed with water and sprayed on plants.

Your videos are works of art that should be played and discussed in all schools! Love from Queensland 🙏❤️
They can. And they do. Lots of teachers and parents are watching with kids. Some kids have even introduced Weedy to their parents and grandparents. It’s nice.
That is so cool.
this video is so chill, ty
Great vid, we all learn by our mistakes.
I have not used my brew yet it is in the dark of my shed so this is very useful to me thanks 🙏
I admire you sir for the amazing content you provide for those of us who grow.
eres mi compañero favorito! un abrazo gigante, vive tu vida a pleno!!
I have been doing the banana water for about a year, it really works great, the longer it ferments the better. So don’t throw away your brown bananas.
lol i chuck my bananas into my bathtub worm farm
the wormies love them
How do you use your banana water and on what.
@@PegsGarden How many times a week you water the plants with banana?
@@erlindafernando8868 once every few months.
Thank you for this, im 7 days into the rice water just added milk today, cannot wait.
Preparing for the spring
Nice one. Sorry I missed this comment before
Ooh always excited when you drop a new episode
You are a great teacher. Your drawings were good and it made everything very understandable. Thanks.
Excellent 😝
This must be the longest video of your channel but i love every detail and the effort you put into it. It's great and that bana smoothie i have tried it myself it's relly good.
Wow wow wow , your videos are amazing . Top quality . Top guy . I can’t wait for future vids . Thank you
Thanx mate 😃
I keep mine in the middle of my banana circle and it has lasted for months with no problems....great video Weedy....thank you...lots of little tweaks that I will adopt! Keep cool!
That's a great idea!
For a small scale garden, what is the ratio of how much to use mixed with gallons of water? The process is easy to understand with how it’s presented in the video. How much to put in the garden is where I get lost. Thank you!
100 ml in a ten litre watering can and use it once every two weeks. Hope it helps 😊
Thank you, watching your videos is always entertaining and educational.
Insatiable appetite for your content. Please create more.
Is that a bad thing? What did you do to remedy that, if so?
Good one, Weedy 👩🌾👍
Excellent. Parallels could be drawn with the human gut biome. Very informative and relaxing. Thank you for your videos.
Maybe not now maybe in next few years or more you'll surely have millions of views. Inspiration you are ❤️
Thanks again Dave for another master piece.
Yes. Big day. It is International Eye Contact day that day also. Can’t wait to c ur experiments. Send pix to The Weedy Garden Face Book PM and I’ll share them 👍🏼
fermenting vegetables is also a good source... plus the water you can use to kill the fungus on your plants.... would recomend JADAM Korean natural farming using bacteria to kill of pests
Awesome narrator to his Wonderful Educational knowledge....of experience...the best teacher!!! all the best and a million thanks
Thanks Jesse ☺️
Have been loving the videos mate. 😁😁👍
Have you looked into KNF (Korean Natural Farming)?
I think you'll find it very interesting and would love to see the videos you could come up with looking at how the IMO 1 fungus grows. 😁🍄
Cheers & Happy Growing Mate 🌱🌱🦠
YESSS! Wow, so easy! I'm going to try incorporating the JADAM principles this spring in my garden. So glad you mentioned it!
Ahh two of my favorite Aussie gardeners. :).
That would be an interesting video to watch, Rob.
I’m getting into KNF! I’ve made LAB so far
@Tommy Gunz Agree totally, love them both!!
Thanks for the step by step for making a replacement 🙂
@@RobsAquaponics Oh, excellent, I did not know that!
Thank you so much for this video. I now have 5 gal of concentrated fertilizer to share with friends! I’ve also got a banana-bacillus smoothie brewing.
Korean Natural Farming 2.0, great vid....
This is very good. I´m glad that you´ve been able to recreate new soil bacteria - and teach / share with a lot of people your experience. Thank you.
Great video... Interesting and easy to remember...😇😇😇
Very creative! How do you dispose of the bad, stinky brew?? Best explanation ever!
On the compost!
Thank you, Weedy! I was afraid it would kill anything it touched!
How long does it keep like that. Do you get any drop in Bacteria numbers?
I like the extra step of using molasses and chicken poo (whatever you want) in a lot of other garden videos using Korean nautural farming, the Lacto is mixed with water and sprayed on plants.
He did it again!!! wooooowwww thank you so much
I have only a very marginal practical interest in this, but it's so well done, I can't stop watching.
Thanx agian for keeping that flame alive
Thanks for your help 👍 Very much appreciated 👍
Secoooond - i wus waiting here for ur vid a loooong time :3
Keep up the good work ;*
And half a pack of carrots seeds for second
Wow. What a cool little bird. I've never seen anything like it where I live.
