I haven’t been to Ha Noi, but we did book an overnight cruise tour in Ha Long Bay near Ha Noi right before COVID shutdown and had to cancel the whole trip due to travel restrictions. Should check out Ha Long Bay. We interested to hear your experience there. Enjoy your stay in Ha Noi. You guys are awesome! Keep up the great work and continue to share your adventures. 🙏🏼
I love the Old Quarter in Hanoi. I stayed at a couple different hotels there and loved that I was able to walk around everywhere I wanted to visit. I did take a eating tour and had amazing food, and toured around some cool places on the back of a motorbike. My guide was really nice and part of the tour I went out on a round boat in a mango grove. It was pretty spectacular and ended my evening at a amazing restaurant. Just myself and my dinner date, a local dog, who enjoyed the food as much as I did. They gave me so much food I had to share it with a hungry looking dog. I gained a new furry friend that evening. Lol.
LOVED this video. My man absolutely loved Hanoi. We sat on that beer street roundabout 14 yrs ago!! Best spot ever We stayed in shoe street lol. Vietnamese coffee I really miss (normal viet coffee) is an experience in itself watching it filter. We went to a water puppet show there. Was definitely interesting. We stayed in an overnight boat and did Halong Bay tour Wow Wow Mind blowing beauty. Sapa is meant to amazing too. Love that bar and train street. Yes I felt the same NY or Melbourne. Very cool. Great vid thanks guys
Lloyd and Mandy, You guys are in Hanoi, you cannot miss the famous Hoan Kiem Lake. There's a cool legend behind that lake. There used to live a giant Turtle in that lake - big enough to carry a man on his back. Legend had it that the Chinese Ming Dynasty invaded Vietnam but Vietnam's Emperor Le Loi was outnumbered and outgunned. So Le Loi prayed to God to help him. Then a giant Turtle appeared and gave him a Magic Sword. He then used it in battle to defeat the Chinese. Afterwards, he sailed on the lake in peaceful celebration when the giant Turtle appeared again. Fearing that the Turtle would capsize his boat, he drew his sword to nudge it away. The Turtle grabbed onto the sword and yanked it out of Le Loi's hand then disappeared into the lake. Le Loi realized then that the Turtle was a God who gave him the sword to defend Vietnam and now that he had achieved victory, the Turtle came to take the magic sword back. "Hoan Kiem" means "returning sword". So, visit the "Lake of the Returning Sword" - romantic story!
@@DungNguyen-td2xk Thanks. The legend of this Turtle continued hundreds of years after Le Loi's time. My grandfather was a Police Chief in a village close to that lake. This must have been around the 1930's. One day, his men ran into the station and told him they saw this giant Turtle crawling towards Hoan Kiem Lake and jumped on its back. It kept crawling. Then, it went into Hoan Kiem and they jumped off. My grandfather scolded his men saying, "Don't you know that Turtle is a God that gave Le Loi the magic sword? If you see it again, you should worship it and not jump on its back!" My mother told me this story. She grew up in Hanoi.
Hanoi was the very first place I solo travelled to in 2001 and it was amazing!! The streets didn't worry me as I had been to India, I enjoy the chaos!! The old quarter is very charming I thought. You guys must explore the Ninh Binh area it's very beautiful. Happy Travels
After HaNoi maybe you guys should visit Ninh Binh, dont forget Nhà Thờ Đá Ninh Bình( Ninh Binh stone church) where alot Vloger dont know, it is unique and impressive, safe and fun travel

I love the idea of the secret bar/night club. That is so cool! I love all the videos I've seen of train street from vloggers who've gone there before you.
If you're still in the Hanoi area, head to Ninh Binh. I love all the videos from there and think in many ways it's just as beautiful if not more so than Ha Long Bay...it's the land version of the Bay. Too bad you missed Da Lat when you were down south as many people love it there. Also, while up north, head to Sa Pa.
Hey Guys, From a 17 hr bus ride to beer street !!!! You certainly have gone from boiled lollies to chocolate LOL. Love watching your videos and keep up the great work. Rob G
Hanoi the Capital for peace glad you guys both traveled here and BTW this is the place where I came all the way from Saigon to witness the victory of Vietnam national football team at 31st southeast Asia games despite of heavy rain my team win!!!
Hi Lloyd and Mandy, I just started watching your videos and you give such great information. My husband and I are heading to Hanoi mid Nov for 1 month and want to go to Changmai for about 1 week within that time and then back to Ho Chi Min. We're wondering if we should prebook all of the hotels/stays or do you think we can wing it? We don't care for anything too planned. I know Mandy is Canadian so I'm wondering did you bring some cash with you to exchange or did you just take cash from the ATM and eventually went to the bank with your bank card? Sorry just so excited but nervous. Appreciate any information. Thanks
I love dog too. I think a dog cafe should get a little more space for them to run or catch a ball. Yes, Hanoi get more classic place for the music. Easily find the class to learn violin, etc. I can imagine where this culture come from. One time we went to listen the classic music concert at the Opera House. Easily to find the good bakery by the western pâtissier.
Dear Loyd and Mandy please describe the temperature is it breathable do you fresh air or is it muddy stiffed air moisty and too hot thanks dear and watch yourselves please

Only Western cities have bars like that? 🤣 I feel like you guys probably just don't go out much in non Western countries. I picked up that vibe when Mandy once mentioned in a video that seeing "expats and Westerners" in her neighborhood in Bangkok made her feel "safe". 🤣If you feel unsafe in Asia, I can't imagine you guys in Venezuela, Nigeria or Jamaica. 🤣
