  • Hanoi is the capital city of Vietnam, located in the northern part of the country. It’s a chaotic but fascinating city, with motorcycles weaving through bustling traffic and the constant sound of honking horns. It’s a blend of both old and modern Vietnam, where ancient pagoda’s and well-preserved colonial buildings stand along tall skyscrapers. When you add to that an excellent food scene, vibrant nightlife, and rich cultural heritage, you’ve got a captivating city. In this video, we highlight 12 of our favorite things to do in Hanoi.

    I was in Hanoi in December 2023 and on Train Street. You can still walk on the road so your comment is correct. Yes, the gate is across the track blocking regular people to just walk in but the cafe owners are standing outside of the barrier and bring you in and are legally allowed to do that. I have pictures of me on the side waiting for the train to arrive and photos/video of it passing me by. The train times are 9am 12 noon and 3pm so to get there 15 mins before is recommended. you're welcome.

    Certainly one of the best Hanoi vids we have seen. Showing the location of attractions on the city map was brilliant. And it helps to sort out where to stay in the city. Now onto your Ha Long Bay vid. Thank you. Max. Australia.

    I met a girl online, who is Vietnamese. After a few months of talking, I went to visit her. She gave me the exact tour you gave in this video, as a Hanoi resident. Her insight was so fascinating, but I appreciate that you give a guide to experience the same, life-changing trip I did (and without a local). Thank you for letting me relive my trip, and I hope to move there with her in December. I can't wait to go back. Hanoi is home :)

    Hi guys! A word about train Street...if you head south of the train station (south of P. Kham Thien street) you can still walk the tracks to a bunch of cafes and restaurants. It only seems to be blocked off closer to the old quarter area where the tracks tend to get more overrun with tourists. Check out Hanoi 1990's or 65 Railway Coffee. Keep the great content coming, cheers! 👍😊

      It’s even ok at the main bit still, all the cafe owners hang around and take you through the back to their cafes. We were there on New Year’s Day!

    • @worldwildhearts
      @worldwildhearts  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes we also visited a café on Train Street (1977 STATION - 06). They got us in via a different way... but the police was sitting at the entrances and it was blocked. Just can't promote something that's technically not "legal". But of course there are still many of the cafés that are trying to get you inside!

    We were at the train street yesterday evening, everyone could just walk on the tracks and almost every Café was opened. We sat down at a table directly at the tracks, ate food and drank beer. Train came twice between 9 and 10pm.

    very well done video but...I just come back from Hanoi and I am not so enthusiastic...the constant noise of millions of motorbikes ( which makes also Hanoi one of the most polluted city in the world now ) also parked on the sidewalks leaving no place to the pedestrians, is just a nightmare...I was there in 1993 and 2003 and it was a more pleasant place with much less motorbikes and tourists. Make no mistake, I am not against tourism or changes but we have here a perfect example of bad management of both...Food has also become very average in the tourist places. I might travel back to Vietnam but will happily skip Hanoi next time...
