Hey, just want to share something. The town was not found by Mongolian. The french built this town as a vacation town to get away from the heat in Ha Noi back when vietnam was colonized by France. That’s why there is a church at the center of town. You can see the european architecture influences throughout the town
Many, just curious: How did you and the affable Lloyd meet, and then hook up? Also, please: how do you and Lloyd have the eternal knack of finding just the right place to stay for the nights? Seems as though you two hit accomodations bang on almost every time.
I like to see what everyone eats and drinks. Not sure just why I am so curious about this aspect of peoples' lives, but, I am and so there we are. Other people are too, thank goodness. Prices in US dollars would help as well, but, I understand why giving us US prices are not a priority with you.
FYI , the local people living in Cat Cat village are not Mongolians . They are Hmong , one of the ethnic minorities of Vietnam . They are sharing the Lao Cai province with the Red Dao , the Day and the Kinh people . There are currently 54 ethnics living in VN . The Kinh are the most important one . If you are interested in Vietnamese culture , I recommend you to visit the Vietnam Museum of Ethnography in Hanoi . BTW the name Cat Cat is from the French word ` Cascade ` ( with the French pronunciation ) , because of the waterfall there . it `s not related at all to the feline animal .
You missed out on catching the cable car to Mt Fansipan the highest mountain in Indo China, this is a must when visiting Sapa. The atmosphere up there is surreal with the mist swirling around the temples and top of the mountain. One of the most amazing places in Vietnam.
I don’t know how the hell did they spend $100 going on that gondola ride I did the same thing and went all the way up to Mount Fansipan. But I didn’t pay $100. I think it was less than 500 K per person if I remember correctly because I damn sure didn’t spend $100 for two people.

Hi friends. I would like to give you some facts : 1. Sapa was built by the French around the beginning of the 20th century (1905). 2. These are the ancient costumes of the North Vietnamese ethnic groups. Not a Mongolian costume. Wish you two happy travel in Vietnam.
It shows Sapa has changed alot from your footage. It's been six years since the last time I was there. As for me, I would like to see Sapa less crowded and less "modernized". If you guys ever come back, I recommend taking the trail to the top of Fansipan. It's quite an exprience. Thank you for sharing and keep it up.
The local ethnic people aren’t Mongolian, they’re actually H’mong, or Miao. Their ancestors were probably Mongolic and migrated from the Northern China to Sa Pa, but the H’mong and Mongols are different
We are Hmong but Chinese people call us Miao. Our ancestor are not Mongolian. We have our own culture, tradition and language. We had land but China took it. After the war with China our ancestor fled to Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.
Hi Lloyd & Mandy, my name is Lehang Phan, 72 year old. I live in California, I been watching your youtube about a week, but everyday, I loved everything you videos. Keep doing what's you doing....I wish you have good trip together. I am Vietnamese
Probably your last destination in Vietnam so a big thank you for all the vlogs of the Vietnam leg of your trip. These have bought back a lot of good memories for me personal. Loved the soundtracks on your Vlogs, your genuine excitement and the delights from you both on finding something new (white chocolate popcorn espresso martini). But the most memorably for me is Mandy saying thank you in Vietnamese. Nice one! Cảm ơn.

Great video. Sapa looks so cool. We were in Vietnam in May and had planned to visit Sapa but unfortunately ran out of time. Thanks for sharing we will definitely take a trip to Sapa on our next visit. Cheers.
Sapa is a great northern western province of Vientnam! It's beautiful there. The most beautiful places in Vietnam are: Ha Long Bay, Phú Quốc (phu Quoc), and off course Sapa
Absolutely beautiful. Loved the drone footage. The hotel is lovely. You're certainly not doing on the cheap this time - I checked the links and the pricing. Great to see the more luxurious travel option.
