I once picked up a cigar box of vintage costume jewelry at Canton for $5. Amongst the pieces was what seemed to me a nice solitaire diamond ring. Real? I took it to a jeweler to confirm my suspicions. It turned out to be a 3 1/4 carat diamond. Need I say it was fabulous? My son had it reset for his bride when he married.
I bought those brass elephant earrings! It’s funny that you bought them in Texas, took them back to Oregon, and then shipped them to me - back in Texas. Meant to be!
I live 30 minutes from Canton and look at that gold squash blossom necklace every time I go, which is pretty much every month. The gentleman even let me try it on once. My dream to own that piece.
I grew up in east Texas and always going to first Monday trades days. When I got married that’s where my family took me for cast iron and kitchen stuff. 12 years later and those items are still used in my kitchen daily. I came across this video by chance and it makes me miss home so much! Currently in Arizona. Definitely loving this video!
Do we ever forget living in Texas? I know I don't, but at some point in time I knew I could not go back, it is no longer the same area I knew....times change. But I will say, Texas will always live in my heart.
I’m Romanian. I liked the book you found about Romanian folk art. A lot of the weaving art carpets /tapestry was hung on walls to keep a room warm and for decorations too. Since homes were heated by a terracotta wood heaters. My mom still has vintage weaved tapestry (the colors are still bright and vibrant) hanging in her bedroom. And she lives here in the USA.
Great flea market Laura. We don't have anything like that in Australia. Having lived in Japan for 17 years I immediately identified the owls as Japanese and was pleased you recognised their quality and bought them.
Your videos are just so relaxing and interesting! You have an awesome personality - you are a joy to watch - I think I ve binged like 15 of your videos since yesterday when I discovered them. I am from Romania and it was awesome to see the book you found.
This is the best channel so far, you are my kindred spirit in thrifting. I love what you do and having a husband / partner sharing your likes just tops it off! Thanks, I've learned so much and given away so much of what you collect from my Mom and Grandmother. I love the memories it all brings too!
We also have the 80 mile yard sale every year here in Texas & you can get some really good stuff at great prices , it starts in waxahachie tx goes for miles and miles all along the side of 1 road people are set up having sales in there yards , when you come to Texas again be sure to go to waxahachie tx its about 30 minutes south of Dallas tx its package with antique , resale , thrift shops on every corner of down town by the old court house
@@vintageuprisingtx It will be October 29 this year!!! I stayed in Waxahachie during my husband’s job there and I loved it!!! Also the courthouse is absolutely beautiful!!!
Delighted you enjoyed our state; come again! I’m a Senior Citizen and have been going to Canton since I was a child. My grandma and I would drive over on First Monday to get baby chicks for the farm. In those early days, it was just an open field with folks selling whatever out of the back of their farm trucks. Now, it’s almost overwhelming.
Dark purple glass is Amethyst glass. The old lighter purple glass may be Sun Glass, which started out as clear glass, but the sun "damaged" the glass changing it a lavender color. Purple is usually the most collectable out of colored glass (just based on color) other than uranium glass. There are a lot of reproductions out there.
@Rebecca Davis Dark purple glass is usually not usually old glass. The best way you can tell old glass from newer is if the glass has a seam. The more pronounced the seam, the newer the glass probably is. With blown glass it's a little harder to tell new from old, but if it's a bottle you can usually tell just based on the imperfections or the neck of the bottle.
That was a black swallow tail butterfly. They are the state butterfly of Oklahoma, and we’ve raised a few of them when we saw one laying eggs on our parsley.
Yes! I raise them each year in San Antonio, as the momma butterflies always find my dill and parsley. The caterpillars are beautiful, too and love to pupate in grapevine.
The only thing that I hated about this video…… WAS WHEN IT WAS OVER….😭😭😭 Man, this for me would be like being in HEAVEN 🥰 Thank you for shearing ❤️🙏❤️ Love from Iceland 🇮🇸 ❤️🦋🦋🦋
YES!!! I worked in a gold jewelry store in a flea market in the late 90s when gold was affordable and when a new store opened up, other owners would complain but the store owners I worked for would be happy. When I asked why, they said, we have great price per gram and the more stores here, the better because it will bring more customers and even if we have to drop our prices for gold per gram, we'll have more people shopping here to sell to and make more money in the end even if we make less profit per sale.
My grandparents started taking me there 45 years ago. It's always awesome & there are cute cottages & cabins to rent around Canton because you can't see it all even in 2 days.
I live about 4hrs from Canton but have been there and LUV Dog Alley. It's a weeks worth of walking at First Monday. Glad you had so much fun and found so much!!! :)
That floral round needlework is absolutely stunning!!!! Love the green woven basket too and for $10 that’s a great price. The wooden owl 🦉 & black owl statues are all so cute ☺️ I love owls!
Great finds Laura, I just love this huge Texas antiques market - absolute gem! I love lots of items you are buying , my favourite so far are the brass deer, a wonderful round hand made cloth and the silver rings of course ... Beautiful. Peter Gabriel's album - what a treat too! Cannot wait for the next episode !
I can't wait to go to the flea market again when the weather is nice! This gave me Spring fever! LOL! Nice finds, as always! Thanks for taking us along!
Oh be still my heart!! It's been 40 years since my trip to Canton! The "camp ground" area is great! It's truly a pickers paradise!! Girl takes your truck next time! Get the u-haul trailer when you get there! You can pick all the way there and back! Do they still have the lemonade vendors? Oh yum! Thank so much for this adventure!! Love love love watching you! And yes Jesse would look so cute on that scooter!
I’m a vendor at Canton! The vendors with the big yellow school bus are our vendor neighbors now. Too bad we started being vendors just after you visited. I’m glad you loved it, it is such a great experience!
Love the positive energy you project. I am relieved that you had a great time in my home state. *Even though it was stinking hot* Please come back again.
I've live here for almost 20 years.... I live seeing people discover First Monday! I've been too it plenty and stay away from town during it as much as I can (traffic) but I do enjoy seeing people discover our town and what it holds!! First Monday is pretty incredible
I am so glad you were able to make it to Texas. I live in Tyler, about an hour from Canton & have visited there several times. I also like to go digging through stuff & usually will always find a little treasure. Enjoyed the video & was impressed with all the nice things you said about Canton & their fantastic First Monday Trades Weekend. Happy travels.
I’m sooo jealous..watching McKenna and her mom go all the time makes me want to move to Texas!l.I’d be in heaven with all the thrifting..and I’d have to bring a truck for sure.I’m in NC ,,if I get there I may not come back hehe.lHappy shopping.lcant wait to see what u find.l
I live in small town Overton Tx, abt an hour and half from Canton and I saw more on this video than I ever have going. I catch myself going thru the covered buildings and by the time I get to the outdoors, I'm tired and way too hot. Seems spring and fall bring lots of rainy first Mondays. Thank you for a fun look at Canton.
Hi, I live in East Tyler not far from Overton & like you I just get worn out in Overton, but I love to go. My boyfriends sister had a spot in the Pavilion, so we went several times last year to help her pack things up after the weekend. I did more shopping & looking around than helping. Canton really is fun but I don’t think I’ve ever gone thru all of it.
I can't believe you guys flew down there to shop for only one day. That made it more of a work day, but Laura you found some nice jewelry, and Jess found his record. Thanks for the video
Laura I enjoyed watching you and your husband shop. You picked some really great pieces. But the hi light for me was seeing that wardrobe for $100 dollars. I have not seen one of those since I was a young girl. My grandmother had one and me and my sister use to play hide and go seek. That was awesome. Thanks for the memories. It’s been 55 years since I remembered that
That knife block triggered a memory for me from when I was little. We had that same one only ours was painted with a rooster on the round shield area. It had a companion piece of a hamburger patty press, also painted with roosters and hung on the wall. (The memory is from the 50’s, but they may have been older than that)
I've had a poster of the lady with lilies since the 80s. The lady rumored to be Frieda. Also have one painted on tin from Mexico. I have that Peter Gabriel album. Really good. You could fill your shop & sell it all! That weaving book!
Thank you so much for this trip to the biggest flea market/yard sale I have ever seen. I saw so many things that just made me want to go there. Alas, I am way to old to be buying more stuff LOL. But I appreciated taking this trip with you. I lived in Texas (Ft. Worth) from 1957 to 1970. My late husband and I would go to First Monday in Weatherford, Texas.
That's a great record Jesse. I grew up in Texas, but it was before all the huge flea markets were down there. In the early 80s, we would go to Round Top, because my stepfather would participate in their chili cook off. It was before the the flea market got so huge. Love watching you shop. Thanks.
Loved that you came to Texas! Texas is not the place to look for mid-century. I lived in So. California most of my life and saw the most 1950’s - 1970 decor in Long Beach, Laguna Beach and Palm Springs. The garage sales are wonderful. Hollywood Bowl flea Market and Long Beach are the best for mid-century. I live near Round Top, TX and hardly ever see any mid century there. Best of luck to you. Been watching you for several years and love your style! ♥️
I once bought an antique piano stool at the Canton sale. I put it in the trunk of my car and when I got home the stool was in pieces, the round seat was the only part that was intact.
Laura, I just saw your video on Utube of the Canton trip. I live in Texas and only 1hr. away from there. We love going and one time was in a Tornado Warning and had to take shelter there in one of the Pavillions they have designated for these storms. It was heading straight toward us but turned right before it got to the Flea Market and hit the ground on I-20. On your next trip to Texas you need to put another town on your list. It's east of Canton and around an hour. And that's Gladewater, the whole downtown is anything but antique store's. At least it was before this inflation!! Gladewater Attractions We love to visit Gladewater, just a quick drive north of Tyler on U.S. Highway 271, and only 13 miles west of Longview on U.S. 80. It's a great place for exploring East Texas history, and is known for its large number of antique stores, antique malls, and festivals.
Love, love, love all of your videos, and especially this one! Family and friends in the great State of Texas. Perfect soundtrack for your episode. Looking forward to the next one.
You need the whole weekend to see EVERYTHING! REALLY! They used to not sell beer there but my wife and I stopped by there last weekend and they are selling beer. Heck yeah!
Hello from Texas, hope you enjoyed your stay! I love XO MaCenna! I have watched her videos for a while. Her TX home is not far from where I grew up, so enthusiastically I was SO into their renovation! I love thrifting in my State, but can’t wait to thrift elsewhere! Love, good, and safe vibes from SATX ✌🏼
Hello, I just found your vlog yesterday and love what you do! I used to go to o Canton market with my grandparents & great granny. I bought my first piece of original fiestaware there. That was back in the 70s. Grandpa used to take chicken and cows to sell. I just love East TX.. Wonderful memories of mid 70s.
I live in Texas and I have been to Canton, a few times. So. happy you came to visit. Sometimes it takes more than 2 days to go through that place and you still won't see everything. ❤❤❤
You are in a good State. Texas is awesome! We have everything that is amazing and special. our shopping, our restaurants, we do everything big in Texas. Our Festivals, Flee Markets, Garage sales, County Fairs, etc. Some parts of Texas have Little Mexico at every venue. Have Fun!
As a little girl I went to Canton with my grandmother and mother … I remember the sand was so hot that it burned my feet … though my Keds tennis shoes. My grandmother made a mad hatter’s hat out of a big brown grocery bag. 😝
I liked your time at Canton. I have been there a lot of times and gotten some great things. Now I probably won’t be able to go back. So watching you there was great memories for me. Had booths and made some good buys to resell. You will go back, It’s great fun to shop and look. Used a grocery cart to drag around with us. Drank a lot of the lemonade. Had an RV parked right on the grounds so could go back and rest and run our air conditioner. Thanks for your sharing your trip.
I am blown away. I would love to go to that flea market some day. I don't think 2 days would be enough time to look at all the vendor's. Wow great finds Laura!
I wish we could have seen everything. The places you travel really give your viewers such fun I only wish,I had started thrifting decades ago and also could travel to the places, you have visited. I would have been in great joy visiting this market. Yes,I would plan to stay the entire weekend, and probably still wouldn't see everything.
Hi Laura, new subscriber here. At 13:38 in this video, I noticed a collection of Frankoma off to the side, but then you passed by it with the camera, and I was like....wait, go back , please!! And you did. 😂😂 Thanks for letting me get a better look at it. That pitcher looked fabulous. I definitely want one!! 💚💚💚
Try the flea market in Webster Florida if you get the chance. It’s open one day a week and is huge. It takes all day just to see one side! Just a suggestion.
You’re amazing Laura, much love from Texas! My wife is exactly like you! Lol, I also have the rustic/antique itch also! Come back to Texas we love you!
at 13:51 there's some brown/green pottery, and check those out in Texas/Oklahoma! There's an artist called Frankoma who has some pretty valuable pieces :)
Great video!! I love flea markets!! So cool to see what they have in Texas!! You found some great things!! Love you and your channel!! Much love!! 🌺🌺💜💜💕💕🥰🥰🌹🌹❤️❤️💙💙💖💖🦋🦋🦋🦋🙏🙏💚💚💚😊😊
What a fun trip! I couldn't handle that heat very well though. I love that carved wood bottle you scored. It's gorgeous. Thank you for the shots of bees and that beautiful butterfly! And yes, next time bring a trailer. So much great stuff!
Peter Gabriel..... Your Eyes. One of my Favorite songs ❣️ You found some awesome stuff! Owl's..... You never answered me when I asked if you found the owl dream catcher I stuck in with your 3 tier 3 D light. Hoping you got it. Waiting in anticipation for more videos on your house remodel. We all know it's going to be Beautiful 💕
loved the music soundtrack! There was one song in there that I wished I could just get in there and strum my guitar and just play simple chords to the fiddle solos. This makes me want to go to Texas and buy me some turquoise and silver jewelry. I would have had to get one of those carts.
Next time in Texas if you make it to the Austin area you should check out our large thrift shop. We buy from storage units exclusively no left over garage sale leftovers. We have been doing this for just over nine years in the small town of Lockhart and have grown to over 4,000 square foot shop. We are called “Upscale Resale” and are open everyday 10-6. We always have a large selection of very unusual items that you will never find in other mainstream thrift shops.
Oh my God girl, I'm still recovering from my shopping, lugging luggage trip in Mexico and you're making me check tickets already for a quick trip to Canton!! Really need to upgrade to a newer van : 0 )
Looks like you had a good time and found awesome treasures. I have a booth in the antique store you visited, East Texas Pickin’s. I wish I had been there that day, it would’ve been so nice to meet you both. Happy hunting and keep up the great videos!
👋HI LAURA AND JESSE, YOU GUYS MADE MY DAY AGAIN I LOVE ,LOVE,LOVE THIS TYPE OF VIEDOS SEE LAURA THE GAINT BUTTERFLY 🦋 AND THE BIG BUMBLEBEE 🐝MEANS THAT THINGS ARE BIG IN TEXAS😃 I WAS BORN IN TEXAS BUT LIVE ON ARIZONA MOST OF MY ENTIRE LIFE AND I HAVE RIDDEN ON AN ELEPHANT 🐘 WHEN I WAS LIKE 9 YEARS OLD🥰HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY 💗💕💓💖🥰❤
Wow, what a market!! I’m from Sweden and we are simply too small of a country to have anything of this magnitude. You are so incredibly knowledgeable, Lisa Larsson, in Texas! 👍 That would have been wild. I love the music you put on this video and your narration is very entertaining! You’ve got yourself a new subscriber. 😊
If you are ever in the SF Bay Area, you should check out a couple of Hardware Restoration warehouses in Oakland, CA. Unbelievable amount of antique and vintage hardware!! Good luck in your ventures.
Howdy, neighbor! I went vintage shopping today and thought of you. I found a Bitosi, though not at your price point. Lots of other things you would have loved. I’m in Beaverton and went to Tigard. Good stuff!
Wow that’s a cool find!
Dang, that's awesome ❤
Great story!
Damn!!!
Wow what luck.
I bought those brass elephant earrings! It’s funny that you bought them in Texas, took them back to Oregon, and then shipped them to me - back in Texas. Meant to be!
Oh how funny!!! They are so cute! Little world travelers 😂 Thank you for supporting my dream/shop ❤️

On your next trip to Texas you need to put another town on your list. It's east of Canton and around an hour. And that's Gladewater, the whole downtown is anything but antique store's. At least it was before this inflation!!
Gladewater Attractions
We love to visit Gladewater, just a quick drive north of Tyler on U.S. Highway 271, and only 13 miles west of Longview on U.S. 80. It's a great place for exploring East Texas history, and is known for its large number of antique stores, antique malls, and festivals.
“Eco Relics” in Jacksonville, Florida has an amazing selection of hardware from renovated and restored homes in Riverside. 😊
Obscenely expensive however.
Heck yeah!
Home sweet home. My old stomping ground. Glad you had a great time. Thank you for sharing your finds.
So much fun watching you dig up for hidden flea market treasures ☺
I’m laughing, I remember the first time I went to Canton. The whole town is dedicated to first Monday! I am so jealous! Glad you had a blast!
Wow, Emma!! The Santa looks fabulous! Misty-loved vlogmas!! Thank you for all you do!!! Enjoy your time off!
I used to go to Canton every month. I’m about 5 hours away in Louisiana. I’m glad you finally got here.
I would be too over whelmed....I know me. What an amazing shopping day, wow!
Have Fun!
Love how the colored glass bottles were displayed with back lighting!😊
My grandparents used to set up in canton every month for years. When I was a kid I would get to go with them in the summer months.
ThAnk you for the quick tour - you deserve a medal for doing it in such conditions!!
As a little girl I went to Canton with my grandmother and mother … I remember the sand was so hot that it burned my feet … though my Keds tennis shoes. My grandmother made a mad hatter’s hat out of a big brown grocery bag. 😝
I was so ready for this video! Day 1….. definitely a successful thrifting day! ♥️
Hope you make it someday! It really is a pickers paradise!
2 days is definitely not enough.... it spans over 400 acres!!
Love Canton market
Your delightful and knowledgeable so thank you happy Blessed shopping
Absolutely loved this video!! Music in is also fantastic!!!! Thanks for bringing us on another adventure trip with you and Jess 🥰🐕
I had such fun thrifting with you - all without getting sweaty. I'm glad to see that Canton is a thrift market and not handicrafts.
I wish we could have seen everything.
The places you travel really give your viewers such fun
I only wish,I had started thrifting decades ago and also could travel to the places, you have visited.
I would have been in great joy visiting this market.
Yes,I would plan to stay the entire weekend, and probably still wouldn't see everything.
Oh my, what an adventure! I would need a month of Mondays to explore that Flea Market...
I see it again around 31:50!
I am so happy your channel was recommended for me! Love, love love having your videos play while I am working!
loved the music soundtrack! There was one song in there that I wished I could just get in there and strum my guitar and just play simple chords to the fiddle solos. This makes me want to go to Texas and buy me some turquoise and silver jewelry. I would have had to get one of those carts.
Great video guys, had Soo much fun seeing all the cool stuff!
That romanian weaving book is such a good score that we actually don't find here in Romania.
Looks like you had a good time and found awesome treasures. I have a booth in the antique store you visited, East Texas Pickin’s. I wish I had been there that day, it would’ve been so nice to meet you both. Happy hunting and keep up the great videos!
It has definitely grown since the last time I went there back in the '70's. We would stop by there before going to the lake house, south of Athens
Yay! Love when new videos come out!
Great finds! Enjoyed browsing the stores with you. Thanks for sharing

Good stuff!
