you guys make a sweet couple. I was so excited that you found a couple of beautiful prints by Tom Thomson. His original paintings are millions of dollars. I have an original by his brother George Thomson. You should read about Tom's life story....it's fascinating & he died a very mysterious death.
So nice to get some backstory Laura. Do you know the Freedy Johnston song 'The Mortician's Daughter' from his album Can You Fly? You brought it to mind as it's a song and album I love. I live down south in Tasmania, more south than Australia (even though we are part of Aust.) MCM picking is slim here as there's not a big population but I do have a few pieces I love and was so happy when I found your channel. I will always watch yr videos first when they pop up. Thanks for your uplifting spirit and sensr of joy.

I watch a lot of UA-cam videos that focus on thrifting. Out of all the UA-camrs, you are at the top of my list. It may be due to our similar decor style, but it goes beyond that. Your content, knowledge, and delivery are done so professionally. I look forward to your videos every week and am pleasantly surprised when there’s more than one a week.

Rather than glueing down the wood to the vase, I’d suggest purchasing a round wood piece that fits inside the vase opening. Center and attach that piece to your larger piece of wood. The smaller piece fitting inside the vase may help with the stability of the table top.

Or attach a long wooden pole in the center of the wooden top, fill the vase with sand. The pole would make the top stable and the sand would add weight

Jesse and I have the very same grocery OCD! My hubs and I were at the grocery earlier today and at check out he was so funny and said” I’ll take the bags and you unload the cart… you know exactly how you like it” and he moved on. It was so great! Even after all this time he gets me! Y’all are such a great team and are so much fun. Thanks for taking us along!
I'm the same too, but I learned it from my mom, that's why I like to bag my own purchases, but if there's a bagger I give him plenty of instructions so it's done my way!
I was a bagout clerk at a grocery store in a past life. So I see that it just makes sense and makes the bagging job so much easier!
When I was 17 in the early seventies we oped the inside seams of jeans and put in fabric panels to make long skirts. It was fun😂

Hello! I grew up in Holland, Michigan and we are dutch. We did dutch dance for our Tulip Time Festival and we wore at least 9 pairs of socks when we danced in our shoes. Only way to wear them. Made you really warm too.
I always wondered whether people ever wore them, and if so, how! Thanks for posting this!

I've only recently found you. Catching up watching your many thrifting adventures and learning your aesthetic. As someone who has thrifted 60+ years, I always learn something! One suggestion: Never pass up a great single salt shaker. Many people use a grinder for pepper so they don't need a pepper shaker. Also I use single shakers for red pepper, cinnamon, cinnamon-and-sugar, etc. Doris (Marty's wife)

OMG. We had a three seater bicycle growing up that my dad made out of bike parts from the dump. It was bright yellow. It had a basket on the front the dog sat in.
My husband puts the groceries away, loads the car, and loads the dishwasher. When it comes to organization, I've learned to let him handle all that. Lol. Also, yes, we both put items on the belt in the order we want/how we want them to be bagged so I don't think you're alone in that Jesse.
You guys made me smile about the Yankee candle being empty...it isn't uncommon for people to put the jar in the freezer and then pop out the last of the wax when done. This allows you to reuse the jar. Hope this helps for future candle finds if it is a cool jar!💛
I’ve used up a many Yankee Candle with lids. Have a cabin and used the jars to store pantry items. That’s my way of thrifting. 😊
Thanks for tip about using the freezer! I had a couple I kept burning down until I could dig it all out to reuse to store tea lights and short candles. It was an effort 😆

I lived thru the 70’s, the only things I liked and kept were the coach purses, bell bottoms,a fringe vest I made(wore to Woodstock in 1969), all the music(albums), Levi’s 501 jeans, one mood ring,and my photos!!!

I am Canadian and Tom Thomson was a member of a group of Canadian artists known as the "Group of Seven." They are most well known and recognized for their paintings of our beautiful and rugged Canadian North. What a fantastic find. I know how much you like to research so I hope you have a look at their work.

Technically, Tom Thomson was not a member of the Group of Seven having died at the age of 39 before the group was founded but he has always been associated with it since his artwork influenced many of the painters in the group. His paintings of Algonquin Park area are beautifully rugged and the colours are so vibrant. When you drive through the Park it’s like driving through one of his paintings.

My husband is a carpenter, he said if you get a piece of round wood maybe 1/2" thick , ...as long as you glue it with like E6000, or something that will be strong (liquid nails) , you could put a larger piece of wood on top..It doesn't have to be only the circumference of the largest part of the vase...you can go bigger. They sell wood rounds at Lowes for about $7.... Great idea... I'd love to see it when done.
The first GoodWill you went to had such a clean and organized (by color) organized feel. Love the vase Jesse found. The mani can arm made me think of that ? paper mache life size head from a bit ago that you went back in for….this is why it’s so much fun to shop with Jesse! It is exciting that you are nearing the end of this challenge! I want to read about how you two met…some things are meant to be, and Karma! You two are great together!
I load the groceries in the order of heaviest first and in the bags they will go in. I also do self check out so I can pack the bags just how I want it.

At 29min you got a great find, the framed reproduction of my favorite landscape artist from the Group of Seven, Tom Thompson, we have great Canadian painters but Tom Thomson in his short career made a huge impact on Canadian art,he's my goat

Yes Jesse, I put all of my frozen foods together, beauty products, fragile items, canned goods, cleaning items etc. so hopefully the bagger puts things into the bags in those groupings .

I totally group things together on the check out belt. Breads, dry goods, frozen food, dairy etc
That style coat may have been called a Car Coat. The perfect length for driving. My Grandmas had them. A great find❤
Wow, you got N Lombard store with this one. It's the closest one to me. It looks a lot better than the last time I was in there.
The building was originally buult as an auto parts store & was empty for a period of time before Goodwill opened this location. They had closed the store that was a few blocks from the St Johns Bridge years ago.
Across the street to the east is my vet's office & kitty corner across the street, to the north, is Fang, a pet food/garden shop that I get my furkids stuff from.
Obviously, I support N PDX businesses when I can get out & about.
Haven't been to the Llyd Center location for years or the main store off of Grand down by the Hawthorne Bridge...

YES JESSE! WE go shopping together and I just instruct my husband to put all the fresh and chilled items on the belt first so I can bag them neatly first, then heavies like candy and stuff for the bottom of the other bags, and finally lights to throw on top

If you glue a small wooden round to the wooden table top round (that fits inside the jar opening) you won’t have to glue it on & it won’t slide sideways.
The vase is incredible.
I’m impressed that you found anything good at those first 2 shops, because they’re notoriously popular and picked over. That Scapoose location, though, is my absolute favorite and I always find such good stuff there. Love the tables!
When Jesse was talking into the big vase/planter and said, “Luke, I am your father”; my husband and I burst out laughing! Because, our youngest son is named Luke and we always say that to him! 😂. Also, Luke’s oldest son, Phillip when he was three, we were joking around and said that to Luke, and Phillip looked at his dad and said, “Luke you are my fadder “! 😂😂😂😂. Sweet memories! ❤😊

I'm sure you know ,but the jean jacket is Vintage 70's. That Jacket looks great for vintage. The label tells the age (you probably know that too... 😊) the 70's were some of the best times of my life.... I was a teenager.

Yes, my husband has a system for putting groceries on the conveyor belt. He bagged groceries in high school and college. A master bagger, so I let him take over the packing of our groceries.

Tom Thompson is so iconic in Canada! As soon as you planned to it, I knew immediately it was Tom. The group of seven painters who painted scenes from the wilderness of the Canadian Shield! Great find! Great price!

My mil has the lamps seen at the 19:00 mark... She swears they are worth a lot of money... My husband got in a lot of trouble as a kid for not being mindful around those lamps. I like the end table idea. You could attach two pieces of wood together. One piece to fit inside the vessel and the table top. That way it won't move around. Make the piece of wood that goes inside long enough that the table top won't flip out.
I just saw you pick up that clear jar with a wooden lid. That is the same type of idea I was thinking would work for your end table. Without the knob of course.

Find a wood Lazy Susan for the big vase. The bottom spin part can fit down into the vase and that will give it stability and you won't have to glue anything

Thank you for mentioning the video on how you met your husabnd. I was curious so I rewatched it. Somehow I missed or actually forgot about that wonderful story. But that episode was filled with some wondeful nuggets. I enjoyed watching it again. This time I paid more attention, lol. I got ill about a year ago and is finally emerging out of my medical trauma and the first thing I wil be doing is going thrifting. I really really enojy oyur episodes whn you syle things or even show how you clean or repair, update, recycle some of your finds. I hope to see more.
