I just started watching your videos and love them! After living on this earth for 55 years I am just now realizing "my" design style. I love pottery and all things wood. Thanks for helping me realize who I really am. 🙂
That stump with the drawer and “hidden” pocket is just beyond ♥️ score!
I just LOVE your videos!
In my opinion the other thrifters buy just to make money, you find treasures and works of art and you save and enlighten them!
I adore how you treat all the items with respect and delicacy and you dont push and pull them around
Your videos never fail to impress! You offer wonderful decor ideas! It's magical how your design themes can travel around the varied spectrum of home interior choices. You're assisting us while we slowly bring together different furniture styles & trends into a single home. After close to 7 years being content enough & alone after my partner's sudden trip into Eternity there has come along a blessing of new friendship filled with fun times which we're both seriously exploring together. We really enjoy watching your channel. The happiness we see in your all's thrifting, home refinishing, trips, & spirits kind of reflects how we can let our new friendship become more. We also never knew that some of our furniture pieces & long collected "what-nots" were actually something! Thank you! We look forward to watching future videos!
Hope you’re having a great New Year Curtis! ❤️ Always so happy to see your kind and thoughtful comments!
I just love that driftwood elephant. I have never seen one like it. (Oh, gosh, I would love to find one fashioned as a lion. That would be something!) My grandmother use to collect driftwood up in the Humboldt Bay area and decorate with it. Mainly, she used it to fashion planters and sculpture pieces in her garden. When my sister and I would visit in the summer she would drag us around with her collecting it. Of course, we had no appreciation for it back then; however, now I just love it and can't see a piece of it laying on a beach without thinking of her .
Yesss! Afternoon coffee, a blanket, and a Laura video. A great way to start the week. 😊
Agree !
I just adore the way you describe all your findings & why you choose them, I can sit & watch you for hrs😮you give me such happiness & I can’t wait to try & make over my room, I just don’t know how to begin since I truly love vintage, ocean, forests,& rustic, etc…..keeping on your great adventures ❤🎉
My dear Laura, you are my favorite inspiration when I go thrifting. I can go shopping with you in mind all year long. I just love your style and your unique taste for vintage. Keep it on girl. You rock!!!
Love that tall abstract sculpture. It's the sort of thing you can look at multiple times from so many angles, drawn in by its overall form, individual shapes, or light playing in and around the surfaces. Love it.
Hi Laura, I discovered your videos a couple of months ago, and admire your eye and enterprise. You have such a joyful way of presenting, it's clear you love what you do. Thanks to you, I had the great est find the other day. I went to my local Goodwill, and there was a new cart full, waiting to be put on the shelves. They said I could go through it, and in the bottom of one of the bins, under a couple other nice pottery items...was a Bitossi Swan Bowl in Rimini Blue!!! I silently screamed to myself with excitement. Thank you for helping us grow in knowledge. Being a new reseller on eBay, I soak up all the knowledge I can get! I hope to save up to join you on one of your trips soon. 💜
I love how the two cactus lamps look together on the table.
Bob Mackie is truly wearable art! Gorgeous.
Laura, as a migraine person, I can tell you that lights, especially LCD and florescent
do cause headaches for a good number of people.
My suggestion? When going into stores, we're a hat that has a brim.
For work at a desk, or reading in bed have your personal light behind you. I use on with a metal lampshade.
I used to go to Goodwill a lot and find great treasures, but now they're always picked clean (no matter what day or time I go) and extremely overpriced. I thought today when I went that I might as well go to Target and buy a new item for the same price. Very frustrating.
Give estate sales or flea markets a try! I find most of my best finds at the best prices estate sales 😁❤️
Our Goodwills are not so great but we have lots of other thrift stores like St. Vincent DePaul and a huge Viet Nam Vets Store. We have a store in my area that supports local dog rescue.
@@donnamalone9018 agreed 😮
Love your car. What model is this!?
I absolutely! They are getting ridiculous with their pricing. You can often do just as well at Marshall’s. I also wonder where much of the money actually goes 😏
OMG, I absolutely love that mirror just like it is!!I was screaming at the screen when you said you were going to paint it a cream color. It would look great in my bedroom. Love the display with the elephant, the zebra and the other animals. My favorite display of that candle holder was the southwest one and I love that painting with it!!!
Another wonderful Thrift video and gosh that wallpaper and the pair of lion head wooden chairs are just amazing! I want!
Your finds are just adorable. But I REALLY love the vintage clothing you found. Each piece is a little unique, but is definitely your darling personality!!
I know you said you were painting the mirror in cream but it would also look good in that orange if you are putting it above the two chairs that have pillows with orange tassels on them. It would pull the orange up. Love watching your styling of everything. Thank you for the videos.
I might consider this! Thanks for pointing this out 😁
I like that idea too.
I was thinking the same thing.
My favorite piece is the cast iron Buddhist figurine. Love him! I love your style. Mine is very similar. Would love to go to Italy with you, just can't right now. Enjoy every minute!
Your style is so calming.
I used to go thrifting and antique shopping but for me for my home never to resell. I miss doing my favorite things due to lack of funds, lack of space and lack of the ability to walk around. I have osteoarthritis of the knees and it impedes me from walking. I use a walker, a cane and a mobile chair to get around but I notice that I wouldn’t be able to get around in an antique shop or small thrift store with my chair. I’ve tried thrifting online but the prices are higher than at most actual thrift stores. So I live vicariously watching you and other UA-cam thrifters shop. There is one of my favorite among all of you who thrifts for her home as well. And she shows how she styles her home with her haul as you do. You’re one among all of my favorite thrifters. I subscribed to all of my favs. Thank you so much for sharing your joy. I have so many favorite items it’s hard to pick one. If I had to pick one I love the wooden box you showed in your last segment and all things wooden the elephant
Yay! I love a good thrift video with Laura.
I just followed your channel. I love the way you do your stories because you make it so fun thats why I always look forward to watch you and your husband.
I grew up in Africa and those birds on your wall hanging are Guinea Fowl. I saw them in Zimbabwe when I was at school there. Like the pheasants here in England, Guinea Fowl are lovely to look at and very stupid on roads. I love watching your videos!
Elizabeth, I just replied to another comment that I thought they were Guinea hens. I had one show up on my porch in Cincinnati a few months back. Someone obviously had it as a pet, but I couldn't find the owner. After 3 mths I gave it to someone who raised chickens before it got super cold. She fit right in with the flock!
I loved everything you got! (and a few things you left behind). I enjoy your videos so much. Thanks for sharing.
I stumbled upon this channel and watched every video! Laura is THE best thrifting channel, but who do I watch until she puts out more videos?
Watch Abigail’s Artful Abode. You will be hooked!
Your new rug is amazing! I can’t wait to see your living room makeover. And your sister’s bedroom makeover. Loved your shop along today as well!
Hi Laura. What a nice haul you and hubby found. Your shop is really looking so chic and interesting. You make items look so cohesive together. Thanks for taking us along.
Laura, it’s so nice to see you back after the holidays! Looking forward to your sister’s bedroom makeover. You are one busy girl!! Your videos have inspired my Chapter 2…and combining art and vintage for a local booth. Thanks for sharing your continual joy and thrifting adventures with the rest of us! Always a fun respite at the end of the day!😘
Looks great! I would put your desk in the middle of the room on a bit of a diagonal towards entrance door and coffee station at the end of the room. The diagonal will help make room seem less boxy ,creating rooms within a room. 😊
Your studio space is wondrous. I can’t wait to see the final design. You are so talented. ❤️✨
I love seeing how you stage things. Gives me ideas for my treasures.
I liked option 1 - modern, but could do option 2 as well.
My favorite thing on todays show was the ENORMOUS GORGEOUS TURQUOISE RING you were rockin’ on your right hand. Grrl that needs to be on next months sale!! 🤪 love the new studio. It’s coming along nice. All the 💕
Just a thought if you like that bar top. You could always switch out the tabletop part for another table top that's wider if you found something at another thrift shop. I would never rule that out
Thank you so much for showing different ways to display your thrifted treasures!!! I like the southwest and rustic styles the best.
My favorite find is the cast iron Buddha. Love that he symbolizes protection and that he’s so beautiful. ♥️
Drape the office ceiling with cloth to diffuse the fluorescent. It will also fall into the morrocan feel.
Lovvvve this idea! 🤩
I CAN’T wait for the gallery wall episode!!
I learn something new every time I watch you.
Natural wood (stained to your desired tone) would be great as trim in your office! Plus, it ties in with your esthetic.
Loved the video!
two possibilities for the flourescent lights - 1) swap out the light bulbs with those softer in color - when I did this at my office I think the lights were called kitchen lights. 2) drape some fabric over the ceiling - some dowels might make this easier.
I loved LOVED the driftwood elephant! Such an amazing find! I also like the cactus lamp and the one you already had in your living room. I have a small handmade table with cactus legs.
My favorite part of this video is your happy smile.
That painted red pot was made by a company called ramsbottom or ramsburg one of those. They are cold painted that's why the paint looks like that. They are actually cookie jars
I love the buddhist paperweight!
Ow those chairs, I LOVED those!!!!! 😳
Hey Laura. I follow you from South Africa and those birds are Guinea Fowl. Give it a Google. ❤They are beautiful and I see them regularly around my house.
The African birds look like Guinea Fowl. Nice!
Your minimalist wooden clocks may very well be Junior Achievement projects from back in the day. I bought one around 1978 from a work colleague who was active in JA.
Love your videos when you're shopping and how you style.
I could definitely rock that Bob Mackie Jacket! That is right up my alley ❤.
Ok, it is decided I am moving to the NW!!! Cold weather suits me and I love the availability of the rare and unusual.❤❤
As ever thanks for sharing your joy and adventures with us! I loved the little guy made out of metal. Go well..................
DRIFTWOOD ELEPHANT!!! MY FAVORITE!!! TFS!!!
The floral painted stoneware piece that you mentioned you had a blue one of is a Ransbottom piece. Many of these crocks were cookie jars that had their lids broken. They make vibrant planters.
Great video, Laura.
Laura, it's been two years since I discovered your page. I love all your videos and smart decisions you make when selecting and buying items. I have been garage selling, flipping and flea marking for many years, but I still learn a lot from watching your videos. If you're ever close to Birmingham, Alabama PLEASE, PLEASE come thrift with me. We have so many stores with unbelievable fines and price to match, I know you will be in thrift store paradise. Renita
Your Lion tapestry reminds me of Bob Ross. 😁 I would call it that if it was mine.
Haha cute! It’s by the artist Don Freedman. I lovvvve it so much 🦁
Love your videos Laura! The little Japanese statue is of an o-jizo-san, or Jizo for short😊🎶
Thank you!!
OMG you walked right by a red bakelite handled egg beater! I haven't seen one of those in a thrift for over a decade.....they used to sell really well for a wide range of prices when I had a vintage shop (brick and mortar.) I suspect you and I know different periods of vintage! It would be SO fun to shop with you. ;-) I love shopping with friends who obsess about different stuff than I do!
I thought the cast iron candleholder looked best in the rustic setting, but it was close. It really looked good in all the options. Love your design sense and the way you group objects! You have a great eye.
Oh, I think my fave thing you got was the live edge wooden candleholder. Really unusual and pretty.
The black & white African birds on the tapestry are Guinea fowl, found across most of Sub-Saharan Africa.
I recently found your channel, I love it. I may have over the past month binge watched all your videos!
I can't wait to watch the makeover video of your sisters bedroom! The painted brass candle holder you didn't buy, well I found one at my thrift store for $4.99. it doesn't hold a candle and had a base to stand on , it has several of the looped branches coming out each side. It looks like a glorious brass flame.
I have a glass green pear, that I absolutely adore!
I was JUST thinking, where is Laura? So HAPPY!
Here!! 🙋🏻♀️ This video took me a long time to film/edit 😂 Already working on the next! 🥳❤️
@@leftcoastrevivals ur a rock-star ✨️💎
Your office is coming together great! Enjoy and have fun making it a great space for creativity.
I adore Italy My family is from Sicily. We were there in 2018. Toured the East Coast for 2 weeks
I can't wait to see your Sister's room makeover!!😃
It’s come so far!!! It’s unrecognizable! Can’t wait to share 😘
@@leftcoastrevivals Im patiently waiting too!!!
I just watched this show and you really found some excellent items. I love your collections. I am glad of finding your show. Have had any interior design classes? If not, you have a gift that is amazing!
Hi Laura, the birds painted on cloth are from Northern Ivory Coast by a people named Senufo and the art form is called Korhogo cloth after the main city of production. I once visited Korhogo and saw how these cloths are still painted by hand.
Frederike, do you think they could be Guinea hens? I recently had one show up on my porch in Cincinnati! I learned that it was a hen native to Africa. They are different colors and have spots and some have stripes.
@@lindaebauer5485 they do look like guinea fowl which we see quite often in South Africa. I am sure that they are not only in SA.
I love the cactus lamp! There are always many items that you thrift that I would love to find myself
This has got to be the best video yet, in my opinion…love love love everything
@12:25 on the video.....
Those white bowls look similar to the ones you had French onion soup in, when you were in Europe.
I 💘 love wood 🐘 elephant budda thank u
When I was growing up overseas we used things like the wall pocket vase on radiators. My mom filled them up with water and hung them on the radiators. She still has them on her radiator.
I always have so much fun with your videos! Your optimistic and bubbly personality is such a treat! Everything you showed us, subscribers and fans (in my case). All the items are lovely...the tea pot is a great find. I also want to congratulate you on your taste in picking your pieces and in your decoration. Thank you and hello from Nicaragua 🇳🇮.
HELLO LAURA NICE TO SEE YOU I LOVE THE MIRROR THE WAY IT IS AND THE ELEPHANT 🐘 ALSO CANT WAIT TI SEE YOUR SISTERS ROOM AND YOUR OFFICE🥰♥️🦋🦋🦋🌻🌻🌻🐝
If you have an old crockpot you can strip the paint off of brass by filling it with water and a bit of dawn, then set the item in and let it go. The paint will come off. I learned this technique from the home renovator Nicole Curtis.
Love the elephant tall wood $50. bird budda cast iron paper weight drawer with hidden dept. I do love rthe lion picture on the wall. I love natural earthy items too. Very reki looking.
OMGosh. I love you! I have a little knee injury and just happened upon your videos. I live on the south eastern coast of Connecticut. Love thrifting. However the Goodwills in our area has gotten to greedy. But I still go totally enjoy your trips and adventures. Bless you and your hubby 🥰
I love everything you pick up!! I am learning so much from you! My favorite is the cactus wood lamp, so adorable. It reminds me of when I was a kid. We did a lot of camping and day fishing trips, we found that cactus wood all of the time, haven't seen any in a long time. I love the clocks and your casserole dishes you collect! Let's just say I love your style and look forward to watching you some more!! Thanks!!
My favorite was the live edge vase with a tube for real plants. Next was the wooden tea pot. Good job! Love you taste
Laura you could use that beautiful wooden knife holder upside down and attach it to a cabinet for a handle or accent in a gallery wall!! Happy new year!!!
I grew up in the 70s with an African textile almost identical to yours - my uncle was in the Peace Corps and I think he got it in Niger. It was always referred to as a mud painting and when I google it the Met refers to it as a mud cloth.
Love the video. My favorite thing was the elephant. But I was thinking you could use your clock colledction for a Time Zone wall. Especially with all of your trips coming up; would be nice to be aware of the time zones for upcoming trips.
That’s such a fun idea! 🕰
My favourite was the wooden teapot. Love your style, it’s like you speak my language. 😊
That frame!!!
Love the wallpaper in your office! 😊
I liked the southwestern style candle style! I also LOVE your corduroy jacket!!
The driftwood piece was sold at Tractor Supply. It’s a chain farm store in Tennessee. I love them. I bought 2 horses the same size, style and with driftwood in 2018. The full price was $30. 😊 I would love to find more of these animals but after I bought mine, I’ve never seen one since. 😮
If you have a jigsaw you can very easily make the slots for knives larger so that you have a perfect secure fit. I absolutely love the vintage wall pocket. I have never found a wall pocket. I’m always looking through!!
Make one? Any pottery workshops around?
Hi Laura🌺wood candlesticks!
12:23 - french lion soup bowls!
I keep checking too if there's a new vid... I just love watching her vlogs very informative and now I'm hooked in pottery and candle holders lol..
Thanks for sharing.
I love those tall wooden candle holders and the copper watering can. I have a smaller version.
Oh I love that wooden candle holder that has the white candle in it
I've been binging your videos! I'm so inspired I am going thrifting this weekend!
I wish I could go to Italy with you!! With a 3 yo and 7 month old not happening right now. Maybe one day!! What an adventure ❤.
BIRD ART INFO!
Laura, I had a similar pc of art as your bird art (which I love)! I sold the framed pc (found @ a garage sale) and so wish I hadn't. They are from the Ivory Coast. I shared in a MCM group asking for help IDing and this is one of a handful of responses . . .
"Update: I just checked the antique store website where I saw a similar hanging. The wall hanging they had is under "art". They say it's made by the Korhuga people. it's African, from the Ivory Coast. Hope that helps your research."
LOVE that we share so many similar designs/styles. Considering I'm 63 and lived through so much of the original MCM & BoHo awesomeness, it's so cool to see so many in your generation loving & "reviving" 😉 the vibe!
Hope you plan to return for the 2023 Springfield Extravaganza since we're so close and have attended for years! Hope to connect if you do!
P.S. PLEASE tell me your FedEx box showed up!!
My favorite thing is the wooden teapot, keep it! Also love the knife holder.
I love everything I am looking forward to your sisters bedroom make over, but im especially looking forward to your girls jewelry making show!
I love how you gave options. I like the Southwestern style best.
