- If you are dictating a text message instead of typing and when you say, "period" to end a sentence and the word "period" is typed instead of the . here's a video on how to fix it. Let me know if it works for you.

I have search Google and UA-cam on 8 different occasions trying to figure this out. My frustration grew because they were sending me down rabbit holes of going to different keyboards and other setting changes. Nothing worked.

None of this was working but I figured it out.
Go into settings.
Search for keyboard list and default.
Make sure Samsung voice input is off. And turn Legacy off. Google Voice typing is on.

What about other punctuation?
That's great, thank you. Now what about commas? I'm ready to smash this new Samsung S23 because I can't voice text a comma and I can't get rid of the useless Samsung keyboard!

Can also say Dot. What I want to know is what are all the verbal symbols? The ones I know are ?(say Question Mark) !(say Exclamation Mark) ,(say Comma) .(say Dot) Are there more than 4?
It does not work on my android
On Samsung voice input it doesn't work. Only Google voice input does punctuations. However, that's for this video as the "full stop" works great on Google voice input. I'm not sure if it's a bug in the Samsung voice input or whether Samsung keyboard just does not support voice input with punctuation.
It didn't work for me, so the search continues period
It works thank you BUT how stupid is it that we have to even say that. No one speaks that way. Love Android/Samsung, but still frustrating, but thanks for the fix

So what about other punctuation issues? I also get the same problem when I say ? and !. How do you fix that?

This same issue comes and goes on my Samsung s10e. Unfortunately the "full stop" fix did not work for me.
Me neither. The bitch of it is, it used to work just fine and then suddenly it stopped.

I just watch the video on dictation issue. Mine was the whole punctuation was nor working. I read into the comments , i found a solution , i am going to test now

None of this was working but I figured it out.
Go into settings.
Search for keyboard list and default.
Make sure Samsung voice input is off. And turn Legacy off. Google Voice typing is on.
Samsung voice input seems to be the problem. Google works fine if you don't wait too long to speak your punctuation. If you wait an extra second it won't record it but it's better than the Samsung engine spelling them out.
So what do you say when you wanna use a question mark or a comma
Say 'Question' 'Mark' as two words. Say 'The Comma'. Comma can be a pain because have to delete the word The.
