Great tips.
However, sadly, it doesn't seem to be working for Google voice to text applications. I have tried but the next line, next paragraph, and the capitalise each word feature doesn't seem to be working with the Google voice to text feature. And also, I have searched on Google and it doesn't seem to to work with the Google voice to text. However, if you have any updated information regarding the same it will be really appreciated to share some Insight. Thank you .
I have the same problem. Why isn't it working?
Same for me on a Samsung Android phone using gboard voice dictation. I can't get new line next line next paragraph cap or all cap to work consistently. Every once in awhile one of them will work but it's so sporadic. I would think with the amount of money and employees companies like Google have that they could get this kind of thing working!
@@SoundsideBayville I've noticed over the years the Google program areas like to break things that they've previously fixed so that they can fix them again and keep having a job.
Which is super annoying.

Yeah, this is awesome! ☺️ I did not know about the new paragraph. Another really really awesome tip is inserting Emojis with dictation. Not sure how you deal with the emoji keyboard on Android, but it's so hard to see so it's really cool to just say smiley emoji or christmas tree emoji or thumbs up emoji. ☺️ 🎄 👍
I just had to add to your comment. But I don't understand is why people overdo the use of emojis. I can't tell you how many times I tried listening back to a comment that someone is written. And I spent about four minutes of it listening to the same emojis over and over and over and over again in the same line. Drives me crazy! LOL By the way, my family and I finally went out and bought our Christmas tree. My daughter tried putting the topper on but broke it and she was so upset. But we were able to fix it and all is good till Christmas.

It's great that you have your wife who can see in case there are any Critters that come by. your poor daughter! I bet she was upset, but just to remind her that what's important is to have fun and to be with family. How to get a new line with voice typing in Android. This works with a Samsung Galaxy A51
1: Before activating voice typing icon press enter on phone keyboard several times bringing the cursor right down the page.
2: Activate Voice typing, starting as normal at top of page.
3: When requiring new line or paragraph, just touch down below line with finger and proceed.

Thank you so much for the tips! I use voice dictation for everything all right text messages, and the curriculum that I ride as well. I did not know about the new line and the in paragraph voice options. I just tried it and it works amazingly well which will save me so much time. I was hoping the capitalization would have worked because it never capitalizes my last name when I am putting my name at the end of the curriculum and lesson plans that I right but affirming that becomes as reliable as the line in paragraph.

Hi that is great but it does not work with Android. As all get is the word full stop and the word new line.
Make sure that you say "period." Worked for me in email and text on Android. I haven't tried using any other applications yet.
HOLY SMOKES! You are a genius! I thought I had tried everything, and I could’ve sworn I had tried the *new line* deal, but thinking back, I wonder if I was saying *next line*… *next paragraph*, etc. Also, I had no clue that you could capitalize words!! That blew my mind! 😂
I do have one question for you though, if you don’t mind… I was wondering if you know if there is a way to spell out a particular word or name of a person or place that you are trying to write…?
As an example, which is really silly, when I text my loved ones, I refer to many of them as *hunnie*, rather than *honey*, and I’ve done it that way for 25 years, so if I were to see *honey* on the screen, it would look so bizarre, lol, not to mention, I think my family and friends might think someone hacked my phone, haha!

There may be a way to do that, I’m just not sure. The problem is that a lot of these commands aren’t really written down somewhere for us to learn them. Most of them we just kind of stumble upon. It may need a trigger command like the words spell out spoken right before the word.

For most dictation programs you would simply say open quote and close quote..
New line DOES work on Google Docs/Andriod, but you have to download Gboard. Make sure you set Gboard for text correction. If the options a greyed, then you have to make Gboard your default keyboard. I just tried all of this and newline, new paragraph work. All caps works after caps is section on keyboard. Hope this helps.

Doesn't work for me on Android 8. There doesn't seem to be a way any more. Very frustrating!
TO CAPITALIZE ALL THE WORDS IN A SENTENCE IN iOS ON THE IPHONE, TAP THE mICROPHONE BUTTON, THEN DOUBLE TAP THE SHIFT LOCK KEY. WHEN DONE DICTATING TAP THE mICROPHONE BUTTON AGAIN. THE TEXT WILL CONVERT TO ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. I DICTATED THIS COMMENT USING THIS METHOD.

I wish these worked. None of them work on my Android phone.
Oh my God this is rich. I just found out that if you say the word new line really fast it actually works on Android and Windows 10. You have to say it fast though like it's one word. There is an apparent bug in dictation that if you mess this up and say the phrase slowly it will lock up at the initializing stage. You have to stop the service that's a call Microsoft text input or something like that.
Just an fyi, as I also do almost all of my writing by dictation. I'm in Ireland for two-and-a-half months and the first week I was here it drove me nuts that every time I said "period" to end a sentence it simply wrote the word, "period." It wasn't until I consulted an expert--an 8 year old kid on a bus--that I learned what they call that little dot at the end of the sentence, here in Ireland. It turns out that I have to say. "full stop" instead of "period."
Damn, 'ya I know how hard it is to change that habit when I've been doing it tens of thousands of times a different way?!! None of the other commands seem to work here, either. I've got to find another 8 year old who speaks Irish English, lol.
I keep saying new line, and it keeps printing new line. Like the words new line. I've tried it changing the tone of my voice, louder, softer, every which way you can think of pretty much. Oh well, so much for that period

I stumbled on the new linecommand. Never thought of the new paragraph command. had been repeating the new line command twice. Found this video in looking for information on capitalization.
By the way, spelling is still in issue. In the video “Red Lion“ came up on your screen as “Read Lion“ 😜
On my own I found that the word space will in a hit or miss fashion insert an extra space or insert the word space.
By the way, I am not vision impaired but my typing Ducks! However, between age and glaucoma I do worry about the future of my vision.

Did you notice how inaccurate the dictation is? If i use it for dictation, it’s because I can’t see it to type and read it. I am visually impaired but not blind. With the dictation getting the words wrong, my writing needs to be proofread before locking it.
How do we get the dictation to be more accurate? Talk slower didn’t work for me either.

I know you said, most of the gestures are close to the same or the same but on talkback once you start dictation how do you end it? Is it still a two finger double tap like on iOS?

Do you know if those commands work in another languages? In Egnlish everythhing works well but in another languages new line, period etc do not work.
Does the two fingers double click work on android? When the keyboard is shown, I have to slide upper edge to change keyboard..
I don’t know about the different languages. Unfortunately, no, android does not have the two finger double tap to start dictation. I really wish it did!

Haven’t tried this on android yet, but on iPhone you simply say Open prin and close prin to do parentheses.
Sadly... Does not work on Android. I had use those commands on Windows dictation and they worked as well so I had tried them on Android, but alas to no avail
I have an Android note 9 latest software. Every once in awhile when I voice to text dictation, and I use punctuation it spells out the punctuation rather than putting the marks, so it will actually dictate the word period And the words question and mark. Any idea why it doesn't and any idea how to stop it? Rebooting the phone does not always do the trick it just seems to stop on its own. I use SwiftKey keyboard
This happens to me as well, I think it’s just one of those quirks of the speech to text dictation. Perhaps it hears the word slightly incorrectly or something like that, I have no idea. I don’t think there’s any way to fix it other than them improving the software in the future.

Yes, it works! I'm using gboard on Android oreo with a Galaxy S9. Seems to work very nicely.
It always messes up punctuation for me. Sometimes a period is a period and sometimes it's just a. I do speak English as a Second Language though and in my language bracket Hungarian closing bracket it's not smart enough to recognise punctuation marks.
Sam, you posted this three years ago. Does this still work for you? I'm dictating now. And when I try caps dictation that's what I get.
Now let's try DICTATION. Well that worked when I used all and caps together before dictation. Let's try cap dictation again. Nope. I'm going to investigate. This was quotes "written" on my Mac. Maybe my iPad will be different. I'm moving more and more towards the dictation and less and less towards TOUCH typing.

Just try this on my Galaxy Note 9 SwiftKey keyboard. The new line and the
thing worked here on UA-cam but not in my email for some reason or on my notepad. Any idea why?
I’m not sure, it should work everywhere. Maybe the SwiftKey keyboard uses its own dictation software. Maybe switch to the original keyboard and try again.

Biggest issue with Android phone voice typing is "auto-correcting" it's not spell correcting, it just changes words it things it detected wrong. It prints perfectly what i say, then changes it into something else and there is no way to turn it off. I called at&t carrier, Android and Samsung, non of them know of any setting to disable it. It became bigger issue when many times it rewrote with inappropriate words

Some dictation software will do this for you. You can actually tell it to delete certain words and then add in the corrected word. Sometimes you can even spell out the word when dictating it.

It's really annoying and it creates stress because as you're trying to think and phrase what you want to voice type, you're constantly worried that the microphone will turn off, which results in a lot of mental fatigue, anxiety, frustration, and anger at the stupid fucking Google employees who like to break things so that they continue to have a job fixing those things.
For instance voice dictation used to have words suggestions but now no longer does for some stupid ass reason.
It just makes a space for me on I think Android 9

Is there a way to capitalize an entire sentence?
Usually with voice, dictation software you would say all capp before speaking the sentence.
Apple’s been a leading company in the mobile market for around 20 years and they have not figured out how to reliably give capital letters in dictation. SMH.
Problem is, it does not work on Android. So you really should re-edit this video. New paragraph, no impact whatsoever it just goes on typing on the same line. Google really failed here. It used to work, but no longer. And no attention whatsoever is paid to the need to correct and update.

Pretty sure it works for word as well. Not sure about another app for dictating long messages.

There are lots of assisted apps available in the play store. You should however be able to just use the regular Google app. Basically the older version of the Google assistant.

Putting the words in the following order worked for me. Open quote and close quote
I feel like I'm talking to a rock. The notepad app on Android 12 doesn't have a clue about the phrase "new line" Microsoft input text must be stopped in order for it to start listening again if you even say the word on a PC using Windows 10 trying to dictate. If I so much as say the N_L word dictation comes to a grinding freaking halt. If Microsoft doesn't f uck up from the get go give it some time. It will ultimately fail whatever you're trying to do.
