After I started playing fighting games, I always wondered if it was possible, or if some company would still make a game with a more realistic style, Tekken has a little of that, but after seeing just these few seconds of Virtua Fighter gameplay I was incredibly excited for what's yet to come, and the game is still in development, imagine how much it will evolve in terms of realism and combat mechanics, imagine that now they can create new characters and that nowadays there are seasons of characters, this game has a gigantic potential.
Yes! Just like you say, VF is actually known for being the "Martial Arts" game or the more down to earth game, especially because movement characterizes the franchise a lot more than Tekken! So if you want something like super realistic but also flashy, this is the game for you bro. I'm confident as hell that his game is gonna knock it out of the park, when you have a development team like this and clear SUPER HEAVY support from the company (Sega), the changes of the game being crazy good skyrocket. So prepare for it bro in some years you are probably gonna get your favorite fighting game ever! It will have an impact in 3D fighting games in general in the future, Tekken has no competition at all and what I love about the upcoming VF is how their direction is going to take for both "innovation and realism" like what the devs recently mentioned of how gritty or grounded martial arts it will have. Who knows maybe Soul Calibur might even come back after when VF comes out since it's pretty much a dead IP at this point and has no sign of any development after SCVI. What's interesting about this is how Tekken 9 is going to shape in the future when VF is out during in the near future.
Yeah it will be a huge addition to the market for 3D fighters. The only question is the release, to understand if it's going to compete with Tekken 8's later half of cycle development or directly with Tekken 9 as you say. I'm incredibly optimistic for VF, it looks like they will knock it out of the park. For Soul Calibur, hopefully it comes back but Bandai said that if SC6 did bad the game was dead and sadly nobody wanted to buy that game. Virtua Fighter has the best fighting game mechanics on the planet. It's not even close with the rest. It's such a shame Sega sucks at marketing VF. So many fighting games with lesser mechanics have sold more successfully because they are flashier, sexier, and marketed better.
It seems like they are now going for better visual designs and a stronger marketing strategy! So hopefully it helps them to put the game out there and be a more "mainstream" IP over the development of the game until it comes out. I'm super optimistic about it, feel like the game is going in a very good direction. I think they already have done that on the game award and the bad rep from the little brother is more than enough. Most of the Tekken OG I know did not buy Tekken 8 yet because, according to them, it not the fundamentally based fighting game it used to be, so hopefully VF will provide that. Basing on statistics Tech company that invested heavily in marketing on behalf of developing and engendering are less likely to keep quality products in the long run. Keeping it original and traditional and not trying to appeal everyone will have a long lasting fan base.
If you are looking for an experience like T5 sadly I would say it doesn't exist anymore. Tekken 6, 7 and 8 took very different directions from that. But maybe the new VF will be that! Bamco and SEGA dont directly compete with each other. In fact Harada himself convince SEGA to develop this game. He said Tekken need competition for the sub genre to grow. And in the teaser itself SEGA hinting the 3D fighter to be standardized. No more ring outs and seems this is the first time stage transition and wall break will introduce in a VF game
Yes! It is true that they don't compete between themselves directly or in literal company/organization means, they could be considered more like collaborators! But for us as consumers, they indirectly compete, because they are extending products to groups of consumers that can be substituted between each other (e.g. 3D Fighting Games), so even if they don't literally compete, they do in the brain of consumers! But of course, both of these games can co-exist (hopefully) because they will offer very different things in the long run. If anyone looks for a pure martial arts FG then yes, VF will be the way, Tekken has clearly gone in a direction in which they want more diverse fighters than only martial artists! And that's fine, the good thing is to have other games that can offer what Tekken will not!

SEGA was about to buy Bandai but change their mind (wise choice because 80% anime based licences sucks bad..) SEGA own so much business you can't even imagine. Movie Anime Studios , casinos , zoos parc resorts. Now they don't have the burden of arcade centers (they were losing money for years and they sold everything after pandemic ) they can focus on games , and be huge again. Even bigger. Tekken take advantage of a lot of favorable events and te lack of competition. But it's definitely not because Tekken 7 was the best game in history, no. Even Harada is the number one VF fanboy .
