Discovery Channel and History Channel could learn a lot from Wargaming's Production team. I love these historical shorts. I'd pay money for feature length documentaries.
that was wargamings orginal purpose, they made all of the stuff for use in documentaries but all the channels went with cheaper companies. so wargaming sat there trying to figure out what to do and thus became a gaming company since people didn't want their documentary capability

Bit of mixed feelings for this one. On one hand, I'm stoked to see a US CV getting on Naval Legends. On the other, I'm kinda disappointed it's not CV-6, USS Enterprise.
Especially when it comes to victory conditions, how many cap circles did it take to win WW 2 and weren't the sailors happy as the war just stopped with shells in the air and torpedoes in the water?
It really is, considering how both countries and their people, were influenced to have a negative, outlook/perception of each other..... While each country's government, may have acted suspect over the years..... I believe the citizens of each country, aren't that different from one another, and should squash the fabricated hate!!!! 😉👊🍻

With Midway's service record, there's a reason why I call her the successor to Enterprise. Hopefully, some of her accolades would be shown in Part 2. :)
I probably used the wrong word. Of course E will never be bested, but she'll at the very least acknowledge Midway's service history and what she has done.
Midway would be the first museum ship reactivated in a real emergency. We worked that ship hard for decades. When we parked her, she still worked. You learn a lot about a particular machine by operating and working it hard for a long time. One of the things you learn is how to keep it working.
USS MIDWAY is the only shop mounting the 5" 54 cal manually loaded gun mounts, a step between the WW 2 5" 38 cal mounts used on many shops and the post-War 5" 54 cal automatic gunmount.
Yes I remember while serving on board the USS Kirk (FF1087) operating as plane guard behind "Midway Magic" a number of times in my three stint on board the Kirk. Did the same for Midway's sister ship Coral Sea a few times as well.
Thank you for creating these videos, as a massive naval history fan/buff it's really nice to see some professionally made documentaries about these great ships after History Channel became the Conspiracy and Aliens Channel. Any chance you could release the soundtracks to these videos?
I spent an entire day aboard the midway and the historical maritime museum over the summer while visiting family in San Diego. I recommend anyone visiting to check out the maritime museum just down the board walk a bit. They have a lot of really cool stuff aswell.
Naval legends? Here's one. Yorktown Class carriers. USS Yorktown CV-5, USS Hornet CV-8, and especially the USS Enterprise CV-6. The Enterprise was one of the most influential ships in the Pacific Theater, and survived only to be scrapped. She participated in all but two of the major engagements, and was the most decorated carrier of the US fleet.... and even earned the Admiralty Pennant from Great Brittan, rare for a non- British ship. The USS Midway began as USS Montana, then after Montana's keel had been laid. It was decided to finish the ship as a carrier. So it was decided to rename the ship, to honor the recent Victory near Midway Island. Montana had been intended to be a larger stretched out version of the Iowa class battleships. The Midway is an AMAZING ship. I'm stoked that this goes into as much detail but you're right. Hopefully we'll get one of these in the Enterprise(:
