This was the video I've been looking for. Been in this thing since Alpha and everytime I've dipped my toes into CV's I have sucked hard on the D in Defeat. Lot's of changes to the CV mechanic since then only made my confusion worse. This here video - finally it makes sense. Thanks mate!

This would be a lot easier to understand if you cut the game sound WAY down, the German "vas ist lauf est leben schlaefen!" (or whatever he said) in the background made it very difficult to hear you. Could you maybe redo this one with the background sound down? Would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for watching! There are many differences. For example, German CVs have great secondaries and AP rockets. US fighters are fast. Japanese bombs do great damage, etc. etc. Maybe I should make a video on it!
One thing I would add is it’s not a bad idea to keep your ship moving instead of a sitting duck. Go to the map screen and auto pilot your ship to certain areas. Mostly behind islands, where your teammates are at, or just around in circles.
If you've positioned the carrier well to start with, you'll usually not have any hassle unless your team is already losing. I've rarely found it's worth moving from the cover of an island. The times I've tried, the carrier is quickly spotted and it's all over anyway.
Several questions... trying to learn cv and having a rough time... rockets seem to take forever to launch i am normally 4 ship lengths ahead of target and still it either launches ahead or behind the target no realy consistancy of when rockets launch i land maybe 5% of rocket attacks... how at teir 4 do you have 2 torps bombers in your run... my carrier has no options beyond 1 its 5 in flight 1 per attack... and finally how do you turn so fast... it takes my aircraft miles to turn around... in that time i loose 3 to 4 aircraft to aa... honestly if this game would have all ships have this steep of a learning curve i dont think it would be played at all... so tired of 150 to 250 ship xp per game (doing 0 to 20k damage a game) the 40k to get to next cv is going to be forever...
Hey Rob! Just remember, WoWs is a game you're in for the long haul. You won't exhaust all the content you can see anytime fast, so buckle up and enjoy the ride! To your questions, you can steer your aircraft (a/c) with your mouse as well as the keyboard - try using both! When you begin an attack run, wait until the reticle goes green, then you're ready to fire. You may need to practice a little bit, but the shots shouldn't take that long to line up. Once you've got it, you'll think "man this was actually pretty easy." Look at your equipment page and commander skills to see what kinds of upgrades you can get to the aircraft to improve these times.
I might get my hearing checked if you don't think he's loud enough sure he could be a little louder , but I can hear him and understand him just fine with my phone on medium through the phone speaker. Not trying to be rude sorry
thanks for making thins, i was thinking it was only 1 set of 2 torps and bombs, so you click once and then once the target is right you click again to attack? i used to like carrier when the game first came out i want to get back into it again. should you move the carrier too?? or just sit still?
META with CVs is very speculative. Don't believe everything you hear from everyone with a strong opinion. Each line has strong suits! But since this is a casual gaming channel, I don't stray much into META territory.
Thanks for this video. My question is is there a basic guide how to guide and steer the planes once they take off? I'm on a PC and the mouse doesn't seem to be able to turn the planes either left or right. But I can go up and down and drop the bombs. Thanks for your help. Regards
@OggyGTA Left and right is the same as you steer the shiv. You can't really go up and down the planes do that automatically until you hit the mouse key to attack and then they then they dive. But if you don't hit the mouse key again, they go back up enjoying the other planes

What about the defensive fighters? Mine is not automatic, fcking useless. They don't automatically go after the enemy fighters, so my other planes were wiped out. Enemy fighters can even chase me, even leaving their "circle" of responsibility.
When you use torp planes, and you go in for attack, how do you make the torp lines from that wide V shape more closer so that your torps run side by side? Hope you understand my question
Great question! Just hold steady on your heading and the V shape will tighten up. The game penalizes you for lateral movement while aiming in your attack run. Start your attack run as early as possible to get Time On Target.

its a good guide for CV starting captains BUT in next video pls put game sounds lower as its difficult to hear you

Hey! Gotta let the reticle settle. The more you move around, the more you widen the reticle.

Real torps would never work dropped from this height.

Your planes need time to steady their aim, so dont hit the A or D keys while aiming torps to make them aim better.
High AA fire will make your planes less accurate
