Pete and Chris go to a place to buy something. They are being served by Mulaney. Chris picks a normal option, while Pete has a unique taste for things. Mulaney then tells Kenan to get in here to tell Pete why his choice was bad. Same story, I love it every time.

And he feels like she screwed him because according to him, she is tiny and everything is big to her, so he is setting him up for failure with any future partner. So he likes to set the record straight and take control of the narrative of his penis. This is from one of his stand ups.

Beck sort of stole the show. I mean, they were all SO amazing here. But I picture this like putting a 3rd string linebacker from the football team in your production and then watching as he NAILS IT when the chips were down and parents were in the seats.

My fave part
can't say i thought the sketch was all that great. to me it seemed a little excessive & almost like "well, we do one of these NYC musical skits every time Mulaney's here, so let's just go overboard with it." i'd say the Bodega Cat & Airport Sushi skits were funnier & the Diner Lobster is an absolute classic(it's really hard to recreate that type of random success). And i really don't see why they felt this sketch deserved to go on for over 8 minutes. - sorry, just my opinion. But i do agree that Rudolph's statue of liberty sequence was the highlight. i actually found some of the things she said to be a little bittersweet: the hookers in times square, cbgb's, warhol... NYC is a completely sterilized experience now compared to what it was like in a few decades ago.
@@the503creepout7 I kinda agree with you, the Mulaney Musical series is one of my favourite recurring sketches and I forgot this one exists until now. Probably because Cecily and aidy aren't here and there's a bit less chaos here but Maya's rendition makes worth it.

I’m the opposite, I can’t stand the musical skits. I have no idea why either, they just annoy me so much.
Observations:
1) John Mulaney _can_ sing
2) The Tim Horton's joke should've gotten more laughs
3) Maya Rudolph may as well rejoin the cast at this point
4) Actually, most of the cast can sing, bravo to them
5) I live in NYC and the words "Bubba Gump Shrimp" had long since left my mind until just now, so...thanks?

Maya Rudolph dressed as Lady Liberty singing "I'm Still Here" was weirdly inspirational and moving.
Mulaney giving that quick "three, four" count to the cast before they launch into the last bit is the cutest.
I would kill to be a fly on the wall during that bit of rehearsal

These keep getting better. The production value goes up every time and these people prove how creative and talented they are. Mulaney can’t sing or dance but loves musicals. So it’s hilarious to see him pull these off so well. I loved this.

The dirty scuff marks on the minion was the detail that took it over the top. That dirty abusive damn Times Squares minion.

That kick line was the biggest disaster in 2020
They were all out of synch - it was great.
Mulaney truly knows what a talented cast is capable of. He challenge their abilites and in doing so he elevates the whole show. I thank him for that.

@@canaisyoung3601 He was laughing because Beck messed up his line - you can see John is also laughing. Beck is a seasoned performer, though, and he just powered through, so it was hard to tell that he messed up.
Chloe Fineman is really getting into the roles because she is being included in a lot more sketches. And she never fails to leave an impression.

Okay, but I wanna be honest for a sec. I cried a little during this skit because New York City is my favorite place in the world. It kills me to see it so dead, empty, and struggling. However, New York (and the rest of America) has powered through so much, and I want to have hope that we'll power through Covid. This is why it's so important to vote in these uncertain times. No matter what side you're on, your vote matters, we only have 2 days after all, so make a voting plan and get out there everyone.
If it makes you feel any better, I just read a story in my local paper about the 1918 pandemic. They collected all the articles written about it at the time, and it is eerily similar to news coverage now. The limits and upsets to daily life nearly identical. New York survived that nightmare, it will survive this one! Hang in there, vote, and do what you can! Much love from out west!

Cecily is supported by an all star cast featuring the talents of Keegan-Michael Key, Alan Cummings, Ann Harada, Fred Armisen, Kristen Chenoweth, Jaime Camil, Jane Krakowski, and Dove Cameron.
And while I'm happy that she has a new project that will showcase her amazing voice and comedic talent. It also unfortunately means she will continue to be absent from SNL until her schedule clears up.
Agree. Cecily was badly missed. She is generally my favourite amongst the current SNL cohort. She consistently delivers.

For whatever reason, I haven't seen any of the Mulaney eps other than this one. And I heard about Lobster Diner, but didn't know it was a musical, or that they kept doing it every time Mulaney came back. Gave me an excuse to revisit all the Mulaney Musicals; wish I saw them sooner :D. And I enjoy how they keep recasting Redd & Davidson in the sketches as the two customers.
They're probably the worst singers in the cast.
